This is a great store, it really is. I always find what I need. HOWEVER..... when I am shopping downstairs, why do I have to go all the way upstairs to check out and pay??? Hire some people for crying out loud. One checkout station and a line twelve customers deep. Come on JC Penneys, you han do much better than that.
This is one of the few stores left to shop at for decent clothes. Although it seems the junior section didnt have a variety of cute clothes to choose from and it seems everything is crop top! I mean no matter where you go it seems everything is crop top and sorry but some people dont want that. The boys section had a lot to choose from as well as the girls. Staff was nice and the place wasnt a mess.
I stopped by the store to find a nice sweatshirt. While there, also found an excellent price on a mens Dockers coat. The only problem, Bob (the cashier) forgot to remove the security (ink) button from the coat, and I had to waste time and fuel to return to the store to have it removed.
Such great deals going on here. We wouldve normally spent close to $350 on our items but we walked out spending around $150. The gentlemen that rang us up kept complimenting the clothes and dress shoes that we bought and was very energetic and friendly. Customer service means everything to a customer and it makes customers come back, not only for the prices but just because the staff was so friendly and helpful. Thank you.
I rarely shop in-store because they no longer have competitive prices. And the overhead music becomes increasingly loud and low-class with each passing decade.JCPenney corporate seems intent to drive this venerable company out of business. Boomers (the generation with the money) who have shopped here all their lives continue to see their favorite brands discontinued, the tried-and-true marketing strategies (sales and discounts and special coupons for Platinum members) are monkied with. And... trying to sell appliances???? And cosmetics?? Just one bonehead move after another!!!The last straw: corporate just tacked on a $9 shipping fee on ship-to-store for purchases less than $75!!!! Its always been less-than-$25 and then, no minimum for decades.And since store inventory has declined in quantity and increased in price, and all but one register per floor is closed (forcing customers to wait in unnecessary lines... while unsupervised employees stand around giggling in corners)... JCPenney needs to rely on online sales!!!So, yeah, its only a matter of time before Northwoods Mall loses another anchor store.
Worst service ever. One register per level all the way in the back. Only one poor lady working it 8 groups in line. Plus she had to answer phone calls to the store. Pretty sure not going to go here again anytime soon. Was informed by my daughters that it has been this way since Jan of 2021.
I purchased a washer and dryer through JCPenney‘s in Peoria Illinois. Recently contacted the Warranty Department to have the washer serviced. The call was speedy and I thought efficient. Made my service date for this coming Tuesday between 12-4pm. Days later (today) I get a call stating that Need to schedule a day to come out for repairs. The earliest is next Tuesday morning.No one can now answer to why this is. I’ve been hung up on and when you ask to speak with a supervisor, they place you on hold for 2 minutes. Come back and say still waiting, 2 more minutes goes by, and they repeat... clearing y’all system isn’t working. And, if I knew this is how their Extended Service Agreement Department worked I would’ve purchased w/ Sherman’s.I have a house full and no damn washer. This isn’t okay!If you’re reading this either don’t get their warrant or go with someone else.
Very poor customer service. Why schedule one person now she has left me in wash mood, to go help this person at the counter. Was not happy with my hair she rushed and I was charged for something which I didnt get. The place is just going down hill. They should become a training school for up and coming hairstylists. I say that because dont nobody stay at that place not even the managers. Before COVID-19 I saw three different managers within a six month period. They can keep that $20 dollars because I wont be returning.
Its like a ghost town here. No one to help and no one at the registers. Came all the way from Galesburg to bring my mom and now have to spend the next hour exploring Peoria because no one gets to the department until 3:30pm 🤯 my mom and I have tried calling all this week to get in touch with someone. Only reason shes been persistent is because shes ordering blinds and has the sample book. If she didnt have the book, I would no longer be a customer. Considering taking our business elsewhere.
The store is pretty nice and nice employees but the womens restroom on the lower level has been smelling really bad for over a year now. They must have an exposed sewage pipe its so bad you can smell it 50 feet before you get to the restroom door. If you need to use the restroom you better go out in the mall and use that one. I hope they can get it fixed and remodeled soon.
Not nearly enough help. The ground floor register was the only open register at the back of the store. I wonder how much stuff walks out of the store into the mall unpaid. The main floor at 2 register by the main outside entrance and had 6 or 7 people lined up. No register by the mall entrance again. Sad to see another century old company slowly fail.
Everything was easy to find and decently priced. There is an entire section in the store that is dedicated to Disney themed clothing and toys. The Melissa and Doug line of products can be found through out the childrens section that is also well priced. The only thing I would change is that there are only a couple of check outs and I had to go back to where I entered the store to check out.
Everything seemed to be stocked correctly as far as sale and clearance racks go. Associates were helpful, but not pushy. Bryson helped me and was very pleasant, even with offering the JCPenney card, which I respectfully declined. Definitely recommend this location to others!
Full service department store with a wide variety of quality merchandise at inexpensive prices. One of the few places you can buy Levis jeans for $40. They have great sales, coupons, and discounts. I have had better experiences with Penneys sheets/pillowcases, blankets, and towels than those from more upscale stores like Macys. Their Stafford line of clothing is their high end brand and their St. Johns Bay line represents good value. Staffing could be a little better but its still five stars for the quality and value.
It must be under new management. Ive read the previous posts and this Pennys is nothing but clean, well stocked, and full of helpful staff. I went to the salon for an eyebrow wax. I am in a wheelchair and they were so accommodating. The girl who did my brows was great; Her name is Lexi.
Lost my order at Christmas, and then sent me an order in its place that wasn’t the item originally ordered. It was less expensive than the One I ordered, but they still Charged my card for the more expensive item never received. Customer service was no help. It took me 2 months to get this settled.
I like this store, I have been going like for 20 years, but lately I can not find personnel to help us look for things. This Saturday we went there and it was crowded I found one person from Jcpenney but she was not interesting in help us, so we went all over the store until we found what we want. We could not pass the coupons, they were to good and we saved a lot of money.
I’d been having issues with receiving a refund for almost 2 wks, even after making SEVERAL CALLS. Today, 5/2/20, I was lucky to get a young lady named Jacqueline ( escalations dept). God must have put her on phone duty just for me...She was patient, polite, apologetic, thorough and very professional...all while I was getting frustrated with dealing with my 2yr old grandson. I don’t wanna make her workload heavier, but SHE would DEFINITELY be anyone’s GO TO, Get Err Done person, because she handled my situation immediately! No more calls, no more excuses, all because of her. Thanks Jacqueline.
Every place can have a bad day every once in awhile but we went there to get pictures it was super hot they tried to schedule to sittings of six or more in the same half hour every half hour they did not have enough people to work there two of the girls that were working there were evidently quitting that week so they cared for nothing and had not been fully trained anyway when we got our pictures half of them were not us some of ours were missing and we never got any of the consolatory pictures for their computers not working and the weight and the hassle they dont even have to regularly develop the pictures anymore Its All Digital should not have been that big a deal and we didnt get our Groupon deal either
Its a place where you buy clothing and jewelry in Northwoods Mall. Its an inside Mall 2nd floor, there is wheelchair accessibility and a elevator, there is not a public restroom in JC Penney it self, but it is one on the lower level of the Mall. My experience was quick and polite. I only went in to buy one thing.
I was not happy with the way that pennies does returns I bought a pair of dress pants and didnt keep my receipt but the tags were still on them the lady tried to look them up by a date which we did not work I think that if a person brings in an item and she gives you the name that you should be able to take that off of your account are even if she has something with pennies on it that was a very disappointing to me
Horrible horrible people every time we go in here one of the employees either hates there life’s or there jobs. Like don’t work here if you hate people. Period. The employee named Julie under Todd Peterson’s management bombarded my mother ran towards her and acted like she was going to hit my mother. Absolutely ridiculous people. Gives Northwoods a bad name. That’s for sure.
I love the clothes at JCPenneys and the sales and discounts are fabulous but since they only have one or two Checkers in the whole store and they getting in and getting out extremely painful there was eight people in line ahead of me had to wait for almost 20 minutes to check out its ridiculous that is not how you cut back and give good service there is no service there now its pretty much self service and I do not like it at all
We recently purchased blinds for the entire house. Our Design Expert was Kathy Lundy. Her expert advice and customer service skills were very important in placing our order. Kathy stayed involved with updates on the order and lastly the installation. Kathy was indeed an expert.

2022-02-13First visit here, so I cant say if the store had better times before the pandemic. Found a pair of pants with a discount label, the cashier went to check the price for a good couple of minutes, then came back with an attitude that gave the person I went shopping with the impression that he acted like I put a discount sticker on them. I ended up buying only what I considered worth the money, be careful because this place requires a membership card in order to actually benefit from their sales and you find this out only when you have to pay if you havent happened to see this very small written mention (*) under their prices discount board.

2022-05-31Consider having staff to help checkout customers and organize the clothes. Update, dont wait 20 minutes in line upstairs to exchange something.... Apparently its hard to hit that button, gotta go downstairs. Last purchase made in store.

2022-06-25This store has a lot to offer. But I think the brand has worn out its welcome. The giant department store shopping has turned into convenient all in one type shopping. Target, Walmart , Sams and Costco. You also have the big discount chains such as Marshalls, home goods TJ max. Jc pennys needs to rebrand and give a fresh new look and find a niche.

2022-06-16A lot of great clothes. The service was slow and there was a register by the mens section of the store, I asked the man working back there if he could help me get checked out and he would not help me said I had to go to another register which I just left cuz people cut in front of me

2022-04-13Horrible.....was shopping for a new sports jacket. The place was a mess, no one to ask questions. Fitting rooms had piles of clothes. Looked like a disaster. Shelves with pants were all messed up and thrown in with shirts. Wont be back.

2021-12-29I have always liked shopping at Penneys. On my recent shopping staff all of the staff were super friendly. I only gave a 3 because of how messy the store is. I expect a higher standard for Penneys. I am sorry it is not meeting that. It may be you dont have enough staff. Maybe you need to rethink the size of this store. From some of the posts it appears you are pushing online orders. Maybe you just need samples of some items just so people can check it out before they order. Again, this would take less space.

2019-01-17I use to love shopping at our Canton Jcpenny until they closed. I normally only shop online now because the store in Peoria is terrible! It use to be my favorite store. I bought all of our clothes there. I went there to get my daughter some jeans. As you can see it was impossible to find what I was looking for. I dont have enough time to sit and dig through this mess to find what I need. I went to glance at the clearance and there were clothes all over the floor and it was a mess. Needless to say I left. This place is disgraceful! They should be embarrassed in the way this looks. Maybe they need to hire more people!
