My experience at Issue Hair Salon has always been a good one. The receptionist, the shampoo girls, all the stylist and barbers are always friendly and professional. The owner has done a wonderful job with the new location and decor. She is very humble and even though she may seem quite or shy...she’s very much a people person and love to see everyone happy, comfortable and enjoying themselves. The vibes are always positive and the music playing throughout the shop is a plus for me; it just puts you in a good mood, you’re feeling good and you will definitely leave out looking good. The owner did a good job choosing her team; all that talent in one spot seems unfair to the other salons in that area. I will definitely be back and if you haven’t been you need to get there and soon
Issues was my salon home for a little over 7 years. They were like family. All the stylist and barbers did really good hair. Midget was the nicest most caring person I’ve met. Always helping out, being understanding in hard times and giving anything she could.. which definitely included food 😋. We always had client appreciation parties. You never appreciate how much effort was put into keeping a salon clean and organized until you’re at a salon working with people that don’t care. Issues was always a friendly welcoming environment. Most of the stylists that are there have been there for years. And that should say a lot!
This was my first time here and I found the owner who did my hair off Instagram. by me being a new potential client when I arrived I waited 3 hours before even getting a shampoo no one explained the process to me just had me waiting. Once getting a shampoo by Julia she didn’t even mold my hair down which I’m sure she was supposed to cause the stylist even asked (why didn’t she mold you ) sat in the owners chair and she was very non personable she doesn’t talk just curl and go didn’t ask if I was pleased and my hair didn’t last 24 hours I’m a nurse and work hard and this just wasn’t the experience I was looking for or expecting sorry I will not return here. Awe the barber N.Y was dope and friendly tho
I LOVED my hair, however, I had to give a 2-star rating. When I arrived for my appointment, the hairstylist was not at the shop. I waited for about an hour and was finally called back to get my hair washed. After having my hair molded and sitting under the dryer, I ended up waiting another hour until I was called to get my hair cut and styled. The stylist was also a bit rude, until she asked me how I liked my hair. Although I loved my hair and was very pleased with the finished product, I wouldnt go back just because of the awful customer service.
This was my very first time in this beauty salon! I was ready for a change and I chose Midget to give me that change. I have been following her on social media for quite and while and finally gained the courage to get my hair done. I was natural and haven’t had a perm in a few years.Ne Ne was very cool to converse with, she permed, washed and dried my hair getting me prepared for Midget. I can say that I really love my bob and thank you for giving me what I requested. I will be booking future appointments.-Fallon
The salon is not child friendly. The owner and the receptionist doesnt know how to talk to people respectfully. Its a whole mess. I love my sons barber but the customer service sucks. Its too boogie for my taste... May have to find a new barber sorry... I like to be treated as you want to...
I cannot recommend them enough. For me, visiting this beauty shop was a very relaxing time. Your overall service was so affordable and awesome! You are totally highly recommended!
I love the location, I feel secure there, its a lot of fun loving interactions between the barbers and the stylist! Every barber and stylist was visual attractive And welcoming. There was no drama and the young little hot stylist that works on my hair is TAVIE!!! I love her she is so attentive and professional plus artistic with her own signature styles! Her talented and spirit has been sent directly from the GODS! Convenient location surprisingly for the South loop...metered parking. Competitive prices flexible hours and walk ins are welcomed. The stylist are great, but the only issue I had was with a policy. The light skin lady at the front desk hound me for wating on my daughter as she got her hair done. The lady told me that the owner policy was if I wasnt getting my hair done then I couldnt sit in the lobby. I feel as though if you have a child thats 16 and under being service then you should be able to wait. I spent my hard earn money in there for my 14 yr old and then you tell me I cant wait on her. Not to mention I live in Oak Park, so its not like I live 10-15 mins away from the salon.
Issues is a great place to get your hair done right! Midge, the owner & stylist, works wonders on short hairstyles & anything you want done; & the price is so right! If youre looking for a place that not only can give you the latest cute hairstyles but will take care of your hair then go to Issues!! Anyone of the trained stylists are awesome but I personally know the work of Midge who does my hair & Lyn who did my Moms hair!

I am a previous employee of the salon. And the service from the owner and receptionist is unbelievable! Very rude a disrespectful when it comes to handeling business. They dont know how to speak to people. And the shampoo area and basement where the barbers are is DISGUSTING! And no one is licensed!! All the licensed stylist have left. Do not go here!!! I repeat do not five them any of your time or money!
My Grandson came here to get his hair cut , had to wait 2 hours feel asleep and had a accident..and now hes band formthis joint...who does that ? I know unprofessional BLACK CHICKS. Dont worry pump they wont be back..
This salon Rocks , today 250 children received backpacks and hair cuts for boys and dos for girls I addition to manicures and food. Pony rides music it was Amazing

Lead female head-stylist can be very discourteous and dishonest, did cornrow haphazardly just so she can get to another customers hair and still got paid the initial agreed upon amount

2022-05-21I had the worst experience at this salon.I SCHEDULED an 8am appt on StyleSeat with ElegantMidge (nothing about this experience was elegant). I was there on time , got shampooed/dried and an hour passed and I asked the shampoo girl where this stylist was and she shrugged her shoulders. I was told by the receptionist that the stylist would be there soon. I wait another 20 minutes, the receptionist says Midge doesn’t like to be rushed she will arrive when she arrives . She said I could text Midge if I needed to. This is my first time going to this salon, so I text her and this lady tells me that she doesn’t like to be rushed. Plus she has an appointment to do before me although my appointment was scheduled for 8am and then she’d have to do her regular walk-ins first. ALTHOUGH I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. I explained that I had a wedding to attend today, that I SCHEDULED an appointment days ago. This lady did not care that she wasted my time and put me in a bind. The name is this salon is perfect ISSUES, we’re always screaming support our own. But it’s times like this when OUR own feel they don’t need the business they get unprofessional. If you have 5-7 hours to sit around waiting to get your hair done, by all means go to Midge sit and wait because she doesn’t give a damn about your time only hers.

2021-11-20The one star is for the shampoo girl....my stylist was the worst! I have never been so disappointed. I legit look like i got a bald fade with an uneven bang. This is supposed to be a pixie cut. It looks HORRIBLE. I went to the owner, and it was a huge mistake. Please keep looking if you want a short do. Something tells me that her regular clients get better treatment. I paid over $200 and it was a total waste. I put on a wig as soon as I got home

2021-04-01They are so Unprofessional, First off the girl who braided my hair had on Nails.My Appointment was for 4pm and I still waited 3 1/2 hr to be seen. When I came already washed and blow dried.😢😢FIRST TIME VISIT BUT NEVER AGAIN.

2020-12-18It was a sleek, very good, and captivating look. At work, she was very creative, smart, and trustworthy, and I enjoyed her way of working. Their shop was also a nice place to visit. The air conditioner was sleek, shiny, cold, and clean for me. I will go back, I promise!

2019-07-28I googled natural hair salons in Chicago. I don’t know why this place popped up. I went there to talk to someone in person, I immediately saw this was NOT a natural hair salon. I asked if they had natural hair stylist. Why did they lie and say yes? Why couldn’t they have been honest and said no? I was quoted a hundred dollars for a frohawk. To make a long story short, I left six hours later with two bogus braids. My stylist didn’t seem as if she knew how to do natural hair. She was friendly though, and when she saw I was not satisfied she tried to fix it. The fix was the two braids. I asked for four, but stopped her after she did two. She gave me $40 back, But I paid sixty dollars to lose six hours of my day at a salon, and two hours to rewash my hair at home. That’s besides not being able to work tonight now. Moral of the story, be honest. Natural girls....Do Not Go To That Shop!!!!!!!!!! I’m crying right now. I wish they had negative options to the rating system. One star just ain’t low enough.

2018-01-06First time I came to this shop, I was very excited to bring my mom and get her hair done. Midge (the owner) is like a celebrity! Everyone in Chicago and beyond knows her for her hair skills is she is awesome with short haircuts/styles. Her other stylists are good too and it’s like a big family! Love the environment, the shop is gorgeous and although it’s far from where I live, I don’t mind the travel for such good service! You won’t regret it!

2019-04-06Well the salon is lovely I like the design, but the lack of communication made a 11:30am appointment turn into a 3 1/2 hour ordeal for a wash and cut only. But the stylist I booked with didnt do my hair, a different stylist did and she did a nice job. I may or may not go back but time will tell😕
