Customer service was available, helpful and knowledgeable. Clean store has a variety of merchandise, such as hair care necessities, wigs, eyelashes, etc..and their prices are reasonable.Im surprise theres not many reviews however its a hidden gem. You will pass it up, if your not paying a attention(across from McDonalds).RIGHT NOW theyre having a 10 year anniversary sale.
I have been coming to this store for about 2 years now and one thing I have noticed is the continual sales of bad products most especially their imported products. This very day is the 3rd time I complained about a product. I had purchased a dodo body lotion yesterday and not only did it contain a shiny substance but it was extremely watery. A normal human would be able to tell that a body lotion should not be like that. In as much as it’s not their fault they should demonstrate a good customer service by granting an exchange or issue a refund. Instead, it was as the complete opposite. The Alex guy identified himself as the manager and refused to accept the bad product even after explaining that I have used the same product before and it was completely different. He and the other employee were extremely unprofessional, he left me standing, went to sit down like I’m a nobody. Those people made me feel so inferior, and awkward! Now, I just wanna say that store is a terrible place to shop, save your money and go to a better place. The employees suck!!! They need a change otherwise, the store will go down completely!!!! I have met so many nice Koreans and Alex from Howard beauty supply was completely different and his personality is nothing to write about!!!!
Usually my go to beauty supply in Rogers park. Been shopping here for years the owners are wonderful people but today a worker was standing blocking towards the door as I was looking at purses as if I was going to steal the packs of hair I had. She was literally blocking my view of the purses like she thought I was going to steal. They werent even helping ppl more worried about catching thieves. Ive been shopping there for at least 8 years longer than she has worked there! Made me very uncomfortable and as of now I do not plan to visit again. I will take my business elsewhere.
We visited Howard Beauty for hair color. The store is jammed packed with all sorts of beauty delights! From hair color to wigs and braiding hair to, dryers, Shea Butters and rollers.There prices are competitive to other similar stores (Main Beauty now closed). I found the young man that checked us out to be friendly and knowledgeable. If you are in need of beauty supplies check them out!
I went here to pick up some items recommended by my stylist. It had the items I needed hair, color, shea butter and make up. I worry about some items being old and not fresh due to the dust on it and being on the floor. This place is cluttered and the space in the aisle can make you feel claustrophobic and not want to return.
Would give it 1 star if I could they have horrible customer service and a bogus rule that you can only try on 3 wigs then they lie about the inventory to get you to try on more or be stuck buying a wig you don’t like. They are rude and the middle aged woman who usually works the wigs is very sneaky and nosey. I always get a bad vibe from the workers here.
Great selection, they actually have every supply, hair, or makeup product you would ever need. Bonus points for being open on Sunday! Theres a parking lot with about 6 or 7 spots. You wont get the Korean-staff-staring-at-black-people thing here, all staff is respectful and knowledgeable. And as expected, the prices are great (except the wigs are bit pricier than you would find online). 3 wig try-on limit and they cut lace too. My favorite beauty supply store in Chicago!
I went here to buy some supplies for my hair. An older Asian lady rang me out. I spent over 60 dollars on supplies, and swiped my card to pay... While my transaction was going through, I realize that I forgot to add one little thing to my purchase. I try to add it, however the lady tells me that it is too late.I say Fine Ill just swipe again, to pay for this last item (which was just under $2). She objects saying that there is a $5 minimum to pay with a card, and refused to allow me to purchase it (I had no cash, only card).Are you kidding me! I just spent 60 dollars!Not only is this horrible customer service but it is also illegal to charge customers for your businesses merchant fees.I plan to report this incident...Because they are definitely breaking the terms of their agreements with payment processing providers by imposing minimums.
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service. As a stylist I often visit this store to purchase hair for my clients which is about 2-3 times a week. I am sad to say that the customer service gets worse every visit. Today I went to purchase hair, after selecting my items i approached the register and proceeded to wait about 2 mins for someone help me. I then called out for help, and after the third call for help I was approached by a young lady. She Immediately stated in a nasty tone I cant ring you out, so you gone have to wait.....she then walked towards the back where the wigs are located and said to another young lady can you ring her out she has a nasty ass attitude. (WOW). I then addressed both young ladies, explaining that I had heard the rude comment, and felt it was very rude and unprofessional. The first young lady then said to me whatever and threw her hands up. As I was being checked out I proceeded to express how disappointed, and disrespected I felt....the girl checking me out just kept laughing while I was speaking to her. This is totally unacceptable, and horrible customer service!!! As a more mature woman I do not appreciate being cursed at and spoken to with such disrespect. So under no circumstances will I be going back to this store. Main beauty supply, and Wilson beauty supply both have a wonderful selection, great customer service and even better prices. Thanks too your terribly disrespectful employees you have lost a customer!!
I usually like coming to this place because they have a large selection, but I will be going to Elim Wig on Wilson from now on. I read through the reviews to see if anyone else had problems with the “young lady with all the piercings” and sure enough I’m not the only one who thinks her attitude is trash. She acts like she’s doing the customers a favor by being there. If other stores don’t have what I need i’ll order online, and wait before I go back there!
PUT THE SHEA BUTTER AT THE TOP OF THE SHELF AND STOP BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO THE ANCESTORS I usually purchase Shea butter online but instead visited Howard Beauty Supply and found hair and dust particles in my Shea butter. The Shea butter in the store sits on the floor and has no seal. WHY?I went back to the store and exchanged it for one without particles in it but I still question whether or not it is contaminated.A seal should be on the Shea butter and nothing should be sitting on the floor.GET ANOTHER SHELF YOU BROKE MF.
2 stars for the help I received from the young ladies. But !!!!! The clerk 😲 shes rude. Ill get her name and edit this post. She never smiles and when asked where to find something she says oh over there,without point in the direction of the item. She makes no eye contact with customers, doesnt even hand bag to customers. She just leaves it on the counter and says byeee (most impolite way). A smile while serving the public goes a long way to even make you (the employer) have a better day.
I will never ever EVER spend a dime on this store again. There are sooo many beauty supplies to visit. I am looking for African beauty supply. Okay, I went to buy hair products but step back from counter cuz I forget something. The RUDE Asian lady behind the corner reached over and clapped her hands at my face and said come on, are u ready to make your purchase, hurry and put ur things here. I do put all my items on the counter and walked out. The African so clerk said she is rude to everybody. I have friend who said the same thing yet still go there. Please. If it wasnt for the Africans supporting here store shed be out of business. If I could give a negative one this stop owner would get it. Now I make my own products. Healthier, natural and organic. There was a bright side, me learning to make my on product and selling.
Service is terrible. I went into the shop recently as a first time customer and the owners wife didnt have time to help me with me with my needs so she brushed me off. One of her assistants approached me for help and the owners wife discouraged to help me. I will NEVER go back into the store as they dont know how to provide good customer service.
This used to me my favorite wig & beauty supply store. Since weve come into 2016, the store staff has been very horrible to me. The staff used to always be super friendly with me until I came in one day during Black Friday, I got chewed out by 2 different new employees saying I couldnt try on a wig. I came in with plans to buy the wig but they were so rude to me, I had to leave & I didnt buy anything. :( Since then Ive come in which is in 2016. Nobody has any knowledge on helping me with anything, I called once about wig shine and they said to wash it, youre not suppose to wash a wig until it needs washing & you have to do it with special care. Now they charge $5 to have a lace front wig trimmed, no thanks Ill YouTube it & learn myself. Bring back the nice employees or this store will slowly sink down the hole. :(
I like to support our merchants, I was disappointed this morning when I went to a neighborhood store. Although I will not go back, but the customer service must be seriously reviewed .The store is good but some people inside are bad.Today, I went to purchase a Human Hair Wig, but the saleswoman was dishonest. She sold me something that I had not asked for, and I realized it when I arrived home.I decided to just trade. Nor did the police intervention did not change the mind of the Manager, because it appears that he wrote the note about the wig policy and stick the paper on the wall. I was upset and I cried. I learned on my mistake. Now I am glad , Im not spending money on wigs anymore.
I am furious and disappointed at this place I have been coming to for years. I can not believe that they just let anyone use my number to use my rewards points. They have never offered the option of see ID until today. I called to speak to the manager (Alex) and he was unavailable to speak to me although he was talking to the lady I was on the phone will while I was talking to her. This is ridiculous and I will not spend another dime there. Them telling me there is nothing they can do regrading my reward points is JUST RIDICULOUS!!!!!DO NOT SHOP THERE!!!!!
Some of the staff are alright but the one girl whos been there for years with the piercings, she is trash! She is rude to customers and the owners dont care! Talked to some of the other staff and they claim all the workers are paid under the table where he takes a tax percentage from their checks. No pay stubs either. This place is outrageous.
The guy and lady that work there have a very horrible attitude ! RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! The owners of this store really needs to get new staff BECAUSE THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE HAVE ZERO RESPECT. Many people in the reviews are talking about how rude the workers are because it is 100% true! I am not sure if the guy and that lady still work there because I have not been there since the rude experience last summer but if they still are they need to go.
I love this beauty supply store finally a beauty supply store that has a discount program this industry is a 4 billion dollar industry and this is the first store that I came through that actually recognize that people are going to come all the time so they decided to do a point system based on how much you spend the prices are very reasonable and the products are very good they have a wide range of different products which is a necessity and makes them competitive there is wheelchair access inside of the store and staff is very friendly and treats everybody with respect which is hard to find in a beauty supply store
I stopped by to purchase a wig. The person working wasnt very friendly and wouldnt let me see all the wigs that were behind her..She stated I cant go back there which was fine, but atleast she should move out of the way so I can see. I just left without trying anything. Btw you can try 3 wigs on in one visit. I wouldnt go back, there is a nice place on Broadway and Wilson. They have more variety and service is much better same concept 3 wigs at a time try on and you have to purchase a cap. Hope this helps!

This place has the worst customer service on this planet very rude not willing to help you just take your money and send you out the door with very bad quality products . Ive bought hair extensions from here before claiming that it was 100% human hair they did not even last a week . So I went back in again to find a better quality this time I asked for them to match my hair but the guy That was working did not wanna help me find what I can in looking for he was giving me dirty looks when I was asking questions and he was trying to help me by force So I walked out without buying anything because I felt like he did not want to help me I didnt wanna spend money on something I was not happy with They just want to take your money and send you out the door . So I went in again because I did not want to drive too far to another place even though they treat me so bad I came in looking for another pair of hair extensions The owner was very rude and was giving me only one option just to get rid of me and I asked her if I can feel the quality of the hair and she said that I Touch the hair last time that was another purchase that I had made with different hair she didnt let me feel the hair even though I was willing to spend a lot of money on it . The owner is very rude untruthful just willing to take your money and send you out the door with a very cheap product and poor customer service . I will never ever spend a penny here ever again . If you want good quality product and great customer service do not come here !
