Heinens Grocery Store in other cities:
My family and friends have been loyal Heinens customers for many years - so it pains me to write this. For us, the friendly and professional service has helped justify the 10-30% upcharge vs. other local retailers. Yesterday, however, I tried to buy beer and was told by Steve that I cant touch the beer. When I asked for clarity, he said that I can buy but cant touch the beer. This might have been weird but ok in the era of a few national brands. Yesterday I counted at least 20 double IPAs for sale, many of which had no words on the front of the can (only artwork). Without turning the can, the buyer is asked to buy without knowing important details such as the brewer and hops. Because of Steves actions (either supported or allowed by his employer), Heinens has lost a loyal customer (along with all the friends I can convince).
Hi, I bought one of your pecan rolls from your fresh bakery (Lake Bluff store) May 21 . The baker must have been in a hurry, not closely checking the recipe, because that pecan crust was hard as nails, and I nearly broke a tooth! I salvaged the sweet roll part of it, but had to saw the pecans off with a very sharp knife. Shouldnt these rolls be a little more on the gooey/sticky side?
Best grocery store around! A little more expensive than the Jewel, but for good reason. The selection is awesome, meat and produce are always of the highest quality and very fresh. The staff is so friendly and does a great job giving recommendations! The store is also always very clean and well organized.
Go here for the beer and meat. The prices are great for the beer on tap, you can enjoy while you shop: $3/14 oz pour. The meat is great quality, they do in house dry aging and seafood is flown in daily. The sushi and poke bar is superb. Finally customer service is great! Friendly staff all around, shout out to Dave, Chuck, Jimmy and Chris. There are two areas I feel they could improve, produce and the local vibe. I seem to always get near date salad mix. Not sure if its due to lack of turnover or what.... as far as the local vibe the store often promotes local, but the local stuff is from Ohio. I get the store is based out of Ohio, but they cant claim local in Illinois with stuff from Ohio.Keep up the good work!
I was there today buying my groceries but once I got to pay at the register I felt they discriminated me because I was Hispanic the cashier just said buy because I told her have a nice day . And who ever was packing my groceries packed them bad my eggs were thrown in the bag with lots of stuff my sushi was tiped my bread was smushed. Bad service I experience today . We should be treated equal how sad situation even my son said they discriminated us .
I frequent this grocery store because the staff are friendly, the produce is fresh, and they consistently send personalized deals to my email as part of their rewards program. I can pretty much always find what I need & like their prepared foods as well. It’s also in a convenient location for my usual driving paths. Also. Kombucha. On. Tap. 🙌🏼
Store is big, clean, and bright. Staff is helpful and look genuinely happy to work there. They have a great selection of products and most are high quality. Their alcohol section is also very large (although quite expensive, especially for the make your own 6 pack beer).Only complaint is that their fruit and deli sections are absurdly priced. Can spend almost ten dollars on a few apples or 16 bucks on a pound of pastrami. Higher than even Whole Foods.
Best grocery store ever! Okay, I am biased because I know people from my area there. But thats what is great, they know you and are always helpful. They have a great cheese bar, healthy options and very little junk food. The food is fresh and they make the best hoagies!
Heinens had been a huge surprise for us. Its not a huge store, yet it has such an enormous variety in certain areas like health supplements, toiletries, balsamic vinegar and olive oils, and more. The selection of teas is amazing. I dont know of any place that offers a greater selection of teas. And the offerings in the bakery are excellent. So, while its not a conveniently located store for us, we keep coming back because of their inventory.
I love Heinens for their organic foods and fabulous wine selection. They also have a great bakery and I buy birthday cakes there. My only concern is they dont sell large quantities of products so I have to buy several smaller quantities and that gets expensive. Its best for individuals and small families.
This is the place to shop. There are many choices of grocery stores. I come here for the customer service. I have had to work late a few nights and have been shopping later. Every time the majority of workers are rude and rush you. No hello. Deli gal yelled from afar what I needed; no hello, no smile. She seemed very aggravated by my presence. I got one thing (needed more but told her that was all), she seemed bothered. Came across 2/6 that were the usual kindness, happy to see you and customer service. I could not find an item, and the gal brought me to the aisle it was in. Check out fellow was put off by my large order, then I forgot a couple things, I did feel bad, said I was sorry forgot a couple things, and no response just a stare. There was one gal that was cleaning near the register, asked if she were open, flat out no. The other check out person just stared at me. No greeting, no smile. Nothing. I was feeling bad because I get there around 7:45 and they close at 8:30; but then I think , they close at 8:30.
A fantastic chain of stores with excellent healthy options and helpful staff! On multiple occasions the staff went out of their way to help me find the products i needed. They also have a good cafe and salad bar with plenty of tasty options, a pour over coffee bar, an extensive alchohol section, olive oil bar and honey bar as well as a dining area in the front of the store, all of which dont appear in every Heinens store. The ONLY complaint i have with the store is that it is rather expensive, but every Heinens grocery store is rather high end, so it is not this branchs fault, and the variety of food and quality makes up for it.I have been to multiple chains and this one is the best. All in all, this is a great chain of stores (albeit expensive) and this Heinens in particular is my favorite.
I love this grocery store! I shop here 4-5 days a week. It is a HUGE improvement over the gross old Dominicks that used to be here. Heinens is so much better in terms of food quality. So many organic and non-gmo options, which is very important to me. They have the most beautiful flowers here too. The staff is outstanding...JP, Chris, Paul, James, Chuck, Dave, Kell, Kimmy, and so many others (I wish I could remember all of their names!) are so helpful and fun to talk to. Highly recommend this store!
This store is very nice in looks but the staff is close to horrible, I’ve been in the store only twice and have seen plenty of couples in the store, people with children in the store and all doing Instacart and they have never been bothered, we even have video proof. The general manager rudely walked up to me and my boyfriend while in there and shoved a paper at us and said we can’t have more than one of you in here shopping for Instacart and those are the rules, he let go of the paper, threw his hands up and walked away. My boyfriend and I stood there baffled. It’s a way to treat people and that is not it! We had on masks and everything. I almost considered coming here to shop on a regular basis but after this very rude and condescending experience I would never!!! I have never been treated like this by any other place and me being a manager myself I would never treat any of my customers in that manner. I will take my business elsewhere and I definitely won’t let my boyfriend do any more orders for this place. They’re rude and very unhelpful.
A privately owned grocery that has everything one needs. They have the friendliest employees that are always happy to help. Their two brothers brand is top quality. Fantastic homemade olive oil, and we love their brownies. A great beer, cheese, and meat selection as well.I am from NE Ohio and Heinens was our favorite grocery. To our shock, we found out there was a Heinens 30 minutes from our new home in grayslake.
This is the worst customer service oriented business I’ve EVER been to and will not be back!I am a insta cart worker and a frequent shopper. I have never been greeted by anyone and always treated like I needed to hurry up and get out. I always let that go and never made it a huge deal. For the past week I have gone in to do my insta cart orders and my husband went in to do his orders as well. They approached him one day and asked him to leave the store if he wasn’t shopping! With a angry look and tone of voice! LEAVE the store for doing nothing but pushing a cart!Yesterday, I politely asked a worker to help me find something and she proceeded to tell me (instead of helping) that if we were Instacart shoppers we weren’t allowed to shops together. (Mean while there was a store filled with other people not practicing social distancing.. even the employees! Also other Instacart workers with helpers to carry large loads such as the 600$ I was spending FOR The customer, he helped me push the SECOND cart...) That this was store policy and Instacart policy. They handed me 2 lists of rules as if we were children! I was spending 600$ for a customer and just needed help with one item!At this point I was upset. My husband had been treated with Disrespect 2 times in less than a week. I asked to speak with a store manager ... the manager came over and proceeded to tell me about store rules. We were never once disrespectful or anything! The manager then said “what he doesn’t speak English and started speaking to my husband in Spanish saying he couldn’t speak for himself ...)All in all... this store is terrible for customer service... they will rush you, get upset when you need help, tell you your not welcome, treat you like you don’t speak English and and not help you to the car with big shopping orders. They do not need to have contracts with insta cart if they can’t respectfully treat the independent contractors who work for Instacart. I’ve called corporate and Instacart to inform them of this terrible treatment that we both (both Instacart workers look and former customers) received.I don’t recommend this place to anyone ...
Very convenient location for me to grocery shop. I like store overall as it has good collection of organic and sometimes local produce. However I have had many instances in past where food was bad or went bad before expiry date especially salads. Now, I am just extra cautious while picking anything when I shop over there.
I was looking for a grocery store near by that had a deli and more options for fresh meat and produce. After shopping at target I needed 1 last ingredient to make dinner so we stopped in here and wow! Its like Vons meets Whole Foods. It has everything you need. It costs more than other stores like Aldi, but kind of worth it. The chocolate chip waffles are a breakfast staple. They have a club card with exclusive savings and weekly ad. Glad to find a go to store since moving to this area!
Angels Do Exist!Brought my hot soup and drink up to check-out counter but my food card only covered the cost of the drink (hot or prepared foods not covered under program😔) the lovely cashier stepped out from behind register and purchased my soup with her own money!! I am so very grateful for her kindness😊 What a wonderful person and representative for the store!#feelingblessed #payitforward

2021-11-25Parking here was a challenge. The produce was exceptionally attractive although the prices were somewhat higher than I had seen other places. I was there for fresh herbs and a can of chicken broth. Was able to get both.
