We shared a Sampler Plate between two of us! It was a great choice as it allowed both of us to try BBQ ribs, chicken, shredded pork, and Mac and cheese. It was more than we could eat and since we were traveling we couldnt take our leftovers home. Server was very helpful with menu and even gave us directions to our next destination. We sat outside on the patio as it was a comfortable evening. If you go be sure you go inside to see some of the memorabilia from Harry Carays career and other sports figures.
This place needs 0 stars. We waited almost AN HOUR for food and before walking out. We sat down at 8:40pm and left at 9:30pm. We placed our order soon as we sat down. First time here and this was the worst experience EVER. I will NEVER patronize this place ever again. Theres plenty of other restaurants on the navy pier that is way better than this. The waitress was nice but the manager was the worst from the start of when we placed our names on the wait-list til the end. From the start her attitude read she didnt want to serve us but I brushed it off. After 40 minutes of waiting, the manager gave us the worst excuse ever saying our order got lost due to a lost internet connection. This is funny considering no else everyone in the restaurant order got lost. Even bigger parties than us and tables that came after us got their food, ate, paid and left. Mind you there were only 2 of us and we ordered 2 burgers and fries. How long does it take to cook 2 burgers and fries really. Didnt even make our order priority. Then she had nerve to take off $8 from a $45 dollar bill for the inconvenience. The apology wasnt even genuine nor did she have any urgency to get our order out still. We wouldve stayed because things happen but we were treated so poorly. Normally I never make reviews good and especially not bad but today forced me to make a review. Dont waste your time with this place. Hopefully the general manager reads this and upgrades their system to where the system doesnt crash for certain guests. I hate to be this person
August 2021 Chicago Mask Mandate in effect.Plexi-glass between the booths but tables close together and close to booths. Clean Bathrooms.Stopped in for an appetizer and a drink. Restaurant was very busy & loud with a kids baseball team taking up lots of the seating space. Our server Amanda was nice & checked on us several times but had to ask for a refill on the water.Took about 40 minutes for the appetizer to appear and the bottled beverage came after that. The Poutine was good, hot and tasty. Did not care for the cheese used but other than that, it was great. Serving size was large - plenty of food for lunch for both of us.#Recommended if you are not in a hurry.#VickieTravelz
Wasnt super impressed. For the price, the sandwiches were mediocre. I had pulled pork (and Im from eastern NC so Im a critic), and it was relatively tasteless. My husband had a burger and he said it was decent but nothing special. The fries were barely warm and had no flavor. My husband put salt on his and he never salts his food. The waitress seemed like she was lost, half the time kind of stuttering and pausing with a spacey look on her face. I wouldnt return. Our bill was over $50 for a burger, a pulled pork sandwich, and a couple beers.
Conveniently placed on the navy pier.My family and I were quickly seated outdoor .Beautiful ambience being where it is.downside is more attention could have been paid to the outdoor tables and chairs . The table next to us had cobwebs , and the table assigned to us had small bird poop on the chairs . I understand it’s outside dining by water but please take time to clean .Menu is limited but the food came out very quickly and was hot and good ! The waiter was very attentive. Sometimes at locations with high traffic the service goes to the wayside but our waiter was excellent. Will return when in the area
Great food and service! Tavern style foods. The ribs were exceptional, but the Mac and cheese was even better. Drinks were served very quickly and were made right. Service was quick and with a smile. Very attentive service.Located steps away from the Centennial Wheel at Chicagos Navy Pier. A lakeview with the Chicago skyline behind makes your dining experience one to remember for sure.
Our family went on vacation to Chicago and with my daughter being a baseball player, we had to try Harry Carays Tavern. When we first arrived, we did not have the best start, but a wonderful host made sure we were comfortable and set up at a table that fit our group of 5. Once we were set up we met the most amazing bartender. We had a very tired child and he made her experience (and ours) amazing! Jon(John) took the time to talk to her and make her laugh. We were there on Tuesday and she still calls him her best friend. Thank you for the best experience!
I honestly had a good experience here. My family and I went here after 2 years of doing nothing because of covid, and since my dad had an 100 dollar gift card, we thought this would be a great place to eat at. The food was good for all of us, I do remember though my dad said his burger was a little dry. The staff was very nice, and it was a great experience.
Food was good and prices were appropriate. We had a group of 11. Service was a little slow. I think they were trying to bring all food out at once. Some meals were not very warm or overdone and dry. Overall it was a cool place to eat. Lots of baseball memorabilia to see on the walls around the restaurant.
So after having been informed I totally understand that the restaurants rules state that only service animals are allowed indoors, but because I have been to other restaurants in the area that have allowed my dog inside (because hes tiny) I figured Id ask and was told by the hostess that it was fine there was just a 15-20 minute wait for our party of 5. After confirming, the rest of the party comes in after and we wait for about 10-15 minutes only to suddenly be informed that in fact we cannot be seated since only service animals are allowed, after which the manager comes aggressively tells us to leave (which is fine) but quite frankly one should listen to the complaint about their staff that their staff misinformed us. Instead, like I mentioned we simply get aggressively told off and it was the rudest experience Ive ever had for a business based on hospitality. Moral of the story clearly one should be careful to not seem aggressive otherwise all youll get is an extremely rude attitude and response.
Our waiter was nice, but very busy and required reminders. Had a great service oriented attitude though. Food was decent. Blackened chicken sandwich had good flavor, but chicken was very dry and seemed reheated. They subbed an impossible (vegetarian) burger patty for the jalepano burger for my daughter, she loved it. Fried pickles were good too, not too heavy. Fries needed a little seasoning, but were good. Menu was pretty basic american fare with some barbeque. Fun baseball theme and outdoor dining with doors open letting fresh air in at the back of the restaurant which was nice. Decent views of the lake too.
Hubby and I was there on July 2 for the first time. Busy busy since there was fireworks celebration for the fourth of July. One thing positive, waiting time was only 20 minutes. Holy cow burger was pretty good. The Bbq salmon my husband ordered was a complete joke! 3 to 4 ounces max. It was not stated on the menu and for the price of almost 20 his plate looked sad. My burger pattie was bigger than his salmon! After mentioning to the waitress, she wasnt having it. Few minutes later a manager shows up... he too was not having it. By the looks of it both have checked out.. But he did managed to discount 7.00. At least its something. But heres the kicker!!! Our bill was 70.00 and some change. Once our waitress came back with our debit card and our receipts copy to sign, my husband notice the top ticket was for 179.40!!!!! It wasnt our ticket!!!! After speaking with the same manager, like I said, not having it, not very apologetic...more like get the hell out of here face. Were giving it one more day before we call our bank to dispute our charge since its still processing.
One of the coolest places Ive ever been...but I LOVE the Cubs and Harry. So much to look at, so much memorabilia. Really great place with good food. Our server was friendly and patient. It was great for the kids too. Patio seating was beautiful with a great view. Such a fun place. Highly recommend!
Stayed at the Chicago Marriott Downtown and walked down the the Navy Pier. Didnt really have a plan of where to eat, and saw nice outdoor seating at Carays Tavern and grabbed a table. Our server/bartender John was fantastic. We were visiting from the Boston area, where he had spent some time, and he joked around with us referencing elements of MA. John also was very helpful answering our questions we had about the Navy Pier area.
If I can give 0 stars, I would. They took our reservation (after stating they did not do reservations, seated my friends at 9:17 pm. No one greeted my friends to take their order or give them water before the closing of their kitchen. We arrived at 9:32 pm and they stated their kitchen was closed and they are closing (which is not a problem cause cool we can go else where). Again, after seating my friends 10 mins before their kitchen all of a sudden closed although they were still bringing out food. I let the manager know this is very unprofessional and not good business practice what so ever. Her only response was well
There was no wait to enter, however the hostess ignored our request to move from a table to a booth even though there were several available. The food was mediocre, beef sandwich bland and fries salty. However gave three stars because the waitress and her service were good.
Very short wait time, staff was friendly. The food? Dont expect much. Chicken was dry, salmon is almost non existent, order was wrong, no bacon on burger even though there was supposed to be. Really, the food is a disaster. If you just have to go, go to the bar, have an appetizer, because the restaurant is horrible.
Cant say anything about the food, we never saw a waiter so we didnt order any. Gift shop girl who stood at the front and we assumed was a host began with ARE YOU OKAY??? When my boyfriend went up to her at the desk. He explained that we assumed she was a host. She unenthusiastically pointed away and said no she wasnt, and went back on her phone like she was being bothered. Later, a host took us to a table outside with no condiments or salt (other guests had them at their tables) handed us menus and left. No one came back to greet us or take our order. At all. We asked a different server or busser if he could ask if someone could help us. He was nice but long story short no one came. After 15-20 mins....we left and went to Margaritaville. Who is the manager at this place? Im a server and bartender and if I gave the service I was shown here- I would be immediately fired.
May be staff upset working july 4… rude, not really interested in service. Food was.. simply bad.. i believe leftover from prev day, microwaved to a warm at best… really disappointing. When mention about food told sorry about that.. and kept walking…Look, things happen but this was just… i cant remember a worse restaurant…yes you get millions of tourists at NP…. so maybe dont care.. recommend, unfortunately pass on this restaurant
Ate here a couple days ago and I’m 100% sure that the chicken I was served was NOT chicken.I couldn’t get the repulsive taste out of my mouth. It tasted how burnt plastic smells. I should have known something was wrong when the chicken was close to black but I thought it was just dark meat. Were they using uncleaned chidlings?!?!?I looked through more reviews and this isn’t the first time this has happened with the same item.Almost all of the lower star reviews comment on the server not bringing silverware even when asked and we had that problem too. After we were served not a single staff member came anywhere near our table like they knew what they just served me.We had to hunt down someone to take the chicken back and give us our check and they wouldn’t even do as little as to say sorry they just made excuses.First and only time I’ve had Harry Carays anywhere and I’m really upset.
We called heading over and were told for a table of 7 we would wait about 10 min. When we got there (about 15 min later) we were told 45 min. We waited anyway because we really didn’t want to shop around for food at this point.Once we were seated, our server came right over. Drinks were out fairly quickly. Food took about another 45 mins and it didn’t seem super busy. There were many empty tables. But they may have been short staffed in the kitchen so I get it.Prices are surprisingly not bad here. For a touristy place, they could get away with hiking up prices but this was no different than any chain restaurant pricing. The food was good. Seemed like the noodles had been sitting under a heating lamp for a while but everything else seemed pretty fresh. This place is in a great location. As soon as you walk in the navy pier shopping area, it’s within steps. There’s an outdoor seating area that I’d love to try out here too sometime. The memorabilia is fascinating and the place is iconic. If you’ve never been, so yourself a favor and go at least once. You won’t regret it.
Not that great. The BBQ chicken was extremely dry and the service was subpar. We had to wait 20 mins to sit (outside) despite the patio only being around 30% occupied. We were not provided knives and when we asked for salt we’re given margarita salt for our food. Drinks were not refilled and no one followed up to see how the food was. I would recommend any where, but here.
This last time we stopped by before walking around Navy Pier. Amanda was our server and she was nice to us. The service was fast and good. Cool ambiance and decor. Big selection of drinks and plenty of tvs to be up to date with the games. Amanda did introduced her self so I liked that. We tried the salads and the plant based burger. The Caesars salad was the least liked but the other items were good. Plenty of drinks to choose from and a good location to start the day. Will come back.
We really enjoyed this place! The beer selection is fantastic. The food was all done very well. Our server was very attentive, but not overbearing. It was extremely hot outside the day we visited so we ducked in here to escape the heat and get a snack. There’s lots of famous folks on the walls! The bathrooms were very clean as well. Go check them out!
Order some burgers and ribs. The ribs were great and had a lot of meat on them. The burgers were ok, nothing amazing that makes you go all out crazy for. They do load you with a lot of fries which is good.Service wasnt mind-blowing good, was average service. Might be because it was during the afternoon.
Good place to eat if youre at the Navy Pier. Great to sit down, Ive been here in really crowded summer days and really empty winter days- never had to wait too long. Theres tons and tons of cool memorabilia and sports artifacts, signed balls, bats, hockey sticks, jerseys etc... I thought it was cool to see championship rings and of course the bronze bust of Harry is great for selfies!! AND- my personal favorite- they even have the REAL Wilson volleyball from Castaway!!! Amazing!! Part pub, part museum- fair prices- great Navy Pier experience!
First of all the place is amazing. There are so many different types of sports and movie memorabilia to look at. They have a full bar with lots of tvs too. I had one of the best burgers around right here and the gourmet ketchup they offer is just the right touch to top it all off. The food they offer is among the best you can get at navy pier.
Shout out to Assistant General Manager JASON for an amazing dining experience!! We asked for the gluten free menu and were shown outstanding service and concern over our food and any potential allergies. I am so impressed with this restaurant and Jason made our experience unforgettable! Our server Alan was also great. Will definitely come back.
Very interesting place to visit especially if you’re a Cubs or Bears fan. They have a ton of memorabilia.Friendly staff, very helpful in explaining the menu options and providing a little history of the placeFood was decently priced and portions were good. Everything was fresh, hot and had good flavor.
The food was just ok. The menu is not to pricey. I ordered the 108 burger with fries well done. For appetizers the fried pickles were pretty good and the cornbread was just too sweet for my liking. TBH i probably will not return. The overall dining experience was cool. Parking is expensive.
I JUST WENT FRIDAY NIGHT THE FOOD WAS AMAZING THE DRINKS WERE SO GOOD AND THE SERVER GABBY WAS THE BEST ... They had a Mariachi all girl band playing they were so good would recommend this place to anybody who’s looking for a good time and a good vibe with good drinks good food
Got seated right away. Seating wasnt very great, broke out in hives from the table. Drinks were great with server being attentive to needs right away. S.o and I ordered chicken caesar salad and the main burger. Menu doesnt really have much variety. Salad was very tangy and average. Burger was great but kinda dry and tasted like it had Cajun seasoning which we like. Like I said, not much of a variety and food wasnt amazing.
If I could just rate the server we had Saturday 06/19 this would have been a 5 star review! Michael was so attentive, the service was great and he was on top of everything. This was very different to the service I received from another server a few weeks prior. The food here was great both times and the location is very cool, along with the interior. It’s a great place to take out it town guests. However I don’t know if they are understaffed or just struggling with the sheer volume of people now Navy Pier is open but on my first visit we waited 45mins for our first drink after sitting down, no one checked if our food was okay and when we went to order a second drink we were told it would be a 40min wait since the walk-up line for take out drinks was so long. Frustrating to hear since we were seated at the restaurant. We asked for the check and left. This Saturday we had a reservation for 7pm however still had to wait 25 minutes outside to be seated (having been told there wasn’t a table ready for 7 of us). The hostesses attitude was simply “it’s out on my control”. Anticipating that it would be busy on a Saturday and there were 7 of us I had made the reservation in advance; this wasn’t a walk up, so I would disagree that it was out of their control, they should have been expecting the party. I have mixed feelings about this place. If you go, just go with some patience as I feel like you would need it!
Nice atmosphere. Great outdoor seating. But, be careful the waitress tried to up charge me. I ordered a beer and she brought over a 24 oz beer. She never asked me for that size. She returned it for 12 oz, but never took it off the check. I corrected her, she said she could take a couple dollars off the bill. I replied, I didn’t order a 24 oz. I ordered a 12 oz. eventually the bill was straightened out. Beware!
Honestly a 3.5! We were lucky a party of two and sat at the bar; drinks were good at 4/5 the food 4/5 but service 3/5 but they lacked staff seems. We left full and taste buds satisfied. Bar tender was great but he had to work the line of people ordering drinks in addition to bar/service food. It’s something I’d recommend to try once and if you have a better experience then go again. :)
We just had the BEST experience at Harry Caray’s Tavern on Navy Pier. We were planing a small surprise for an anniversary. Our waitress, Jennifer, was the kindest, and sweetest to our table. She “played along” and was extremely discreet when talking about the surprise desert. She was also amazing when the restaurant was out of what we originally wanted and was able to give us notice of it so we could still celebrate. I want to thank her again for an amazing experience, she made our night that much better!
The first person we saw needs to stop working there. She didnt smile and was very unwelcoming and should not be in the front. A short lighter skin black girl with an accent. She did not get us a high chair as requested in the reservation and rudely told us to move our baby out of the way and move a chair to accommodate our baby. Drinks were good. The ravioli was delicious. The chicken for the kids meal was too tough. The Kalahari was tough to chew as well. Location is great.
If I could give this place ONE STAR, or a -zero rating, I would. We had a reservation there prior to seeing a show at Navy Pier. The check-in staff seemed challenged doing their job so we waited a little while while they attempted to figure out what they were doing. Our waiter was nice enough but the food was terrible. The fried pickles (appetizer) were too salty. My friend had a chicken pot pie that was basically inedible. It was strange-tasting and had the consistency of soup topped with a piece of pastry. My salad was ok.When we sat down the first thing we ordered were our drinks. We were already half way through our meal when they came. The waiter said they’d gotten knocked over so they had to be re-made but that they would comp themBill came… drinks were NOT comped.$72 for an inedible meal.I remember the original Harry Caray’s and this outlet can’t possibly be related.Whoever is running it needs to be called “out” at first base.Follow up: the manager commented and asked me to contact them. The email I sent to him/her bounced back to me as undeliverable. Hmmmm
Your hostess was really rude.We asked if we could be seated at a regular table instead of a high table by the bar and she was really rude when answering. She also told us that the tables were reserved. They were all open but two tables that where taken the entire time we were there.I also saw a mother with her little girl asked her if her little girl could use the restroom and she didn’t allowed the little girl to use her restroom since she wasn’t a customer. I understand that rule but she was just a little girl and you can tell she really had to go.If you hate your job look for another one. Don’t give people attitude. Our waiter was one of the bartenders, she had such an energetic vibe. Love it. She was super sweet but we didn’t see much of her due to her being at the bar most of the time. Completely understand. When we received our food, it was delicious but the guy who brought us our food didn’t bring us silverware. We asked him when he was around to bring us some and he said sure and never came back. We waited for silverware for about 15 min. I had to get up and ask for one from a different waiter since no one checked on us after bribing our food. I was done with my burger before my date even got his silverware.Overall service was terrible. Your food was really good but very disappointed on how the service was.
Its a bar but the food is good. Giordanos at Navy Pier was packed with a 2 hour wait since the outside was closed. We ducked in here. Also a wait but bar seating available so we took that. Great service from the bar. Enjoyed Cajun Chicken Salad sandwich and Pulled Pork Sandwich. Loved the Heres to Harry IPA. Was fun to sit at the bar and walk around after.
Dont mind the barrage of 1 star reviews from a single giant party of people. They each wrote a separate review to bash the place. 🙄Servers did a pretty good job. I believe we had the manager walking around to everyones table to verify everything was good and if we needed anything else. She came by twice on top of our waitress periodically checking in on us.The food was pretty good, with larger portions. I definitely recommend the pulled pork poutine as an appetizer. Their burgers are pretty good too. Id be willing to come back if I was in the area again.
We went there straight from the airport. It happened to be the only place that was open late. Unfortunately we reached after the kitchen closed, did not get to try a lot. The drinks were really good. The place seemed to have a great vibe. We had a good time! If I am in the area again, I will try to make it before the kitchen closes 😅
Terrible service, host had a bad attitude. Went there on Aug 28th around 5:30pm, asked the host to be seated outside and after rolling his eyes, the host stated that it would be a 20-30 min wait for a table and he cant guarantee outdoor seating will be the first available. There were tons of available tables and so I assumed they were being held for reservations. I told him that we will like to get on the list but only for outdoor and will wait longer for an outdoor table. Well after waiting 30min, our was available and it was indoor and the same empty tables were available and the same people were seated, I told him that we will wait for an outdoor table and he told me that the patio is closed and are not seating anyone else outdoor. He could have told us that when we told him outdoor only and not wasted our time. I asked if I could place a take out order instead, and he rolled his eyes again and stated that they are not taking carryout orders because it will slow the kitchen down. The host was rude and we could have reserved another table someplace else. I understand the industry is short staffed but the host being rude and not telling us the patio was closed wasted our time, we had a tour scheduled and didnt have time to get on a wait list for another restaurant. This Navy Pier location has completely turned me off with the whole franchise.
We ordered drinks on the rocks and when the bill came each drink was $2 more than on the menu price. When we questioned it on one of the drinks , they said it was because we ordered on the rocks. I threw my head back an laughed. We have been drinking on the rocks for 50 years and many restaurants and bars, never heard of it! The waiter said all bars did that. NOT! They gave us credit for the drink we questioned, but not the other. My pulled pork sandwich was dry and came with coleslaw instead of the fries Iordered .
Had Vanity as our server and Oh My God she was AMAZING! We loved her! Would legit drive out there just for her! She made our day, (Men dont use straws for liquor drinks Hahahah). Food was great. Ordered appetizers and drinks. I suggest gutting the peach iced tea, it was delightful.
Service was really bad . It’s like a fast food restaurant. Appetizers came late. We ordered burgers but server never asked how we wanted them cook so one came well done and one came medium rare spoke to manager which she was very rude. She acted like we were bothering her . Well also file a complaint with corporate office . Waited an hour to get a table and I have a disability but their were lots of empty tables first time their and will not return. McDonald’s gives better service.
We were standing in line n heard the host which was three host girls standing there tell the lady in front of us whom was white yes she could sit outside but the 25 minutes even though there was 10 empty tables...when it was our turn to get service the other host told us we wouldnt get the opportunity to choose outside or indoor which we want outside...we were of black...she said it very nasty...we left would not ever come back rube n prejudice hostesses
We went to Harry’s on a Friday night. Since we were starving from being at the Zoo. We were only in town for two days so we searched it up and thought it was the best option. Sadly it wasn’t the best option. My husbands burger was good but my food caused me to have a stomach ache and still right now my stomach feels off which I had the ribs. The corn had no flavor and was over cooked and the Mac n cheese had no flavor at all. I think the best thing was my husbands burger which sucks because even our sodas were really bad. They had no taste at all.The service was really good though. Everyone was nice and we got seated quickly but sadly next time we will double maybe even triple think about returning
They have good drinks and food here. They also have live performer (like singer with guitar) that gave boost to the crowd to enjoy the place more. Youll be amazed to see the baseball memorabilias around here and youll learn a lot about baseball history. The food was good.
The key is to lower your expectations . It’s a themed restaurant, so what they sell is what most Americans want—mediocrity. That said, the overall experience was good.Timing is important. We were there at 6:00 on Sunday evening, so take that into account. But service was really good. (I don’t doubt the bad service reviews, but what were you expecting in the weeks after a year-long lockdown, with the federal government still paying people not to work?). Selena was really patient and friendly and worked VERY hard. Several moments, she was actually running. The Beyond Burger and regular burger were very good, as was the toasted ravioli appetizer. The Mac and cheese was not very good, nor was the side Caesar salad, which, oddly, was served in a bowl better for ice cream. The prices were as expected for Navy Pier—$72 for 3, including a beer and 20% tip.Again, lower your expectations as much as possible—think Applebee’s in a high-traffic tourist trap—and it will probably be okay.
Very rude bartender, Thursday 09/16 5pm. I walked to the bar outside and asked if they sell juice. He said it’s all liquor that I should go to Mcdonald’s, that they will serve me water there. I was shocked. I was looking for a drink, willing to pay any amount, because I have to take my medicine and this is how I was treated. Spanish guy who has zero hospitality. I will tell my friends not to support this business.
To start the wait time they gave us, for 2 ppl mind you, was twice as long. No apology or anything. Waiter and hostess were both rude and incompetent. Its like they were both on their first shifts ever, poorly trained, or a huge IDGAF attitude. Service was very slow and never even checked to see if meal was ok or needed another drink. Food was below average, which was the highlight of the experience. Wouldnt recommend and will never ever go back, even if they paid me to come and eat there I wouldnt do it.
Seated quickly but soon realized no one was coming to our table to serve us. Waited 20 minutes before giving up. At least a dozen servers walked past without stopping. Wasnt even peak time either. Ended up walking over to Margaritaville and had food and drinks within 10 minutes.
Tried to get a table. They sat us right next to three other full tables. We didnt want to be sitting and eating so close to that many people due to the dangers of COVID-19. We moved literally one table to the other direction, and they said we couldnt sit there......As a server of 10 years I find this very unacceptable. We dont have a server for that section you need to move back.We walked out and found a much more pandemic friendly eatery
So sad, their food is incredible and the location is great but their service is REALLY bad. We went 2x and both times, we couldnt get what we needed without asking 10x PER person we asked...which was about 3-4. They completely forgot the meal of one of our diners, never got silverware or napkins. Overall, poorly accomodating.
Ordered a mac and cheese burger and told our server no bacon for religious reasons and he acknowledged i said no bacon. burger comes with bacon ofcourse . no big deal mistakes happen. told our server and he apologized and left with the burger. i tore a piece of the burger off so they wouldn’t give me the same one .he returned 20 seconds later Minus the bacon with the same burger and I told him it’s the same burger and he apologize and left. Came back five minutes later with the same burger but with more cheese on it. I explained to him that it was the same burger and he said OK I’ll get you a new one. At that point i told him no im ok and he said ok . took a beer off the tab and expected it to be ok . never coming here again
Wanted to like this place more but just didnt. Food is ok but nothing outstanding. Asked for a outside table and was told we had to take whatever was ready even though there were 6 or 8 empty tables outside. They werent doing this because of Covid because inside seating was right next to each other. Servers seemed stressed and in a huge hurry. Forgettable .
Two stars for the effort. What a disappointment of a place. It was Monday evening and they weren’t busy. However, they got our whole order wrong. The bar is sooo slow,we were waiting 30ish minutes for drinks before we decided to just go with pop because its faster. The food was decent thoWill not going back.
Great food but staff were very slow. French fries were excellent and very nicely cut. Several times I just got up to refill glasses on my own. Kids enjoyed the atmosphere and if you have young kids its a great place because with all the busy stuff its a fun place and can be loud and busy. No worrying that your kids will be the loudest. Cobb salad was excellent
Amazing staff! I left my iPhone X on the table and one of the employees chased me down several blocks away to return it to me!! I can’t thank that gentleman enough! And when I tried to give him a tip for his kindness he refused. What an amazing person!! I wish I had gotten his name so I could have written the company a letter. The waitress we had was also excellent. She was kind and fast. The food was great too! This is my first time in Chicago and this restaurant has certainly given me a fantastic first impression of the city!!!!
By far the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt in a restaurant. The staff was extremely unorganized and they all had different answers to our questions. We were lucky to be seated quickly because he had made reservations before hand. Then it got really strange. Once our waiter finally came to our table he had gotten extremely uncomfortably close to my wife will taking her order which was strange at first. Then I started to notice how much he was sweating and slightly slurring his words. By the time he started taking my order he was literally falling asleep into his note pad while leaning heavily onto our table even pushing my chair. That’s how close he was. I’ve been tired before but this was way off. He was with out a doubt coming down off of some type of drug. I made the decision to get up and leave. It was quiet unbelievable. Even to the point where I’m writing the review several hours after we left…. They need new management all around. ASAP.
We had reserved a spot for over 40mins when they texted us that are table was ready. We headed right over which was a 3mins walk to only have them tell us they cancelled are table. WORST SERVICE EVER. They didnt even give us the 10mins before they marked as no shows. I will recommend to all of my friends and family never to come here.
I will never return here again!!!!!!!. It took forever for a waitress to get our order. I complained about the table I was given because it was cold outside and no one did anything. I stood up to leave and none of the staff tried to stop us. The staff members allocating table pretended like they didnt see us leave. I guess we were treated like that because of our skin colour( black)....
Very poor service. Was seated and no waiter/waitress came to my table for about 10 mins. I asked for a mgr afterwhile who came a few minutes later I explained I had saw 3 tables seated near me and after me. Two of those tables received service before me. I told the mgr I was leaving and would not patronize the restaurant. Mgr said I had been seated in an area with no server and said she would serve me(a great gesture) but I declined. I wonder how much longer I would have been there had I not spoke up. I was there about 15 mins total, no exaggetation.
We have gone here annually with high school students after a field trip for the past 8 years. Until today, we have always enjoyed our food and service. Today we were pleasantly surprised that it wasnt crowded. The food was good as usual, but the service was incredibly slow and we couldnt figure out why. To make matters worse, we later found out that a group of our students were turned away at the door for not being 18. Yet many of our students have eaten there in the past. In fact, many former students have encouraged the new students to go there as a part of their Chicago experience! We did the same! When did this policy change? I thought it was family friendly? It was very disappointing!
My husband and I was visiting from Jersey and was at the Pier and this was the only place without a long wait for we decided to eat here. Our waiter was overwhelmed, clearly. We placed an order for a sampler because weve never been and wanted to get a taste for the place. The sampler we ordered included, ribs, pulled pork chicken and sweet potato fries.. The pulled pork was good :/ The waiter forgot to give utensil, straws and our CHANGE! He 1st asked how did we pay (card or cash) after we gave him a $100.00 and then he left to go get our change and came back 15 mins later.
I wish we read the reviews before we came. The service was poor and the food was terrible. The host and our waitress were very unwelcoming and barely spoke to us (only 7 other tables were occupied). The worst thing was the food. We ordered the wings and the 103 burger. My wife took one bite of the wings and immediately gave me a face. I tried it too. Dry and bland. The corn on the cob she got was also tasteless. The 103 was fine. Fairly bland but not as horrible as the wings. Do not get the wings!!!Wish we didn’t come here on our last night. Money down the drain 😔
UPDATE: Since the owner replied blaming the bad service on covid restrictions. We were a group of 4! Shouldnt be hard to accommodate a group of 4!Very rude and unprofessional. Wouldn’t you think if a group of people come in to eat, they would want to be seated together? Well the hostess (manager maybe) with the shoulder length redish hair doesn’t believe that.
I happened to like this location !!Wait time they said was going to be 20 min we waited 10 min so that was a plus. The crowd is mixed between young college kids ,to families in strollers and grandparents. We stopped in for lunch. I had the southwest salad that I changed from grilled to crispy, hubby had the BBQ burger on a pretzel bun that he thought was amazing. Kids typical kids menu stuffThe waitress was very attentive, drinks came out right away, food was out within 15 min of ordering. Hot and fresh.Overall food ,service, ambiance all thumbs up. We will definitely be coming back. The price was pretty average for the city 13 for the burger 12 for the salad. Kids meal around 7.99 or so.Great place for everyone!! I highly recommend them!!
It was my first time going here and I will not be back. My family and I went here for the first time and it was not the best experience. We were a large group and the restaurant provided one waitress for all of us. No one assisting her with our orders. It took them forever to bring our food, some of our plates were wrong, and never got all our drinks.
We visited 05/19 and had a great experience. The two gentlemen bartenders on the patio were fantastic! Excellent beer selection and their cocktails are tasty as well. We have a few drinks on the patio and then walked the Navy Pier and came back for lunch, that was a bit more disappointing than the drinks were. The menu seemed small, maybe it was a limited lunch menu? We had been to the Harry Carrys near the HOB 2 days prior just for drinks and saw quite a few plates come out that looked awesome, so we were excited to eat here and disappointed to find out all the things we saw were not on the menu. The server was a bit slow and didnt check on us. If you just want a place to have a few drinks on the Pier, highly recommended. For food, depends what youre in the mood for and which server you get.
Great customer service. I ordered wings with fries. Really good portions and the wings are a good size. The ranch was REALLY good! Like the Hidden Valley ranch made from the packet. I asked for mango habanero sauce for the wings. It looked like honey mustard and tasted like spicy honey mustard. I asked the server if it was mango habanero and he assured me it was.
Awesome place to have a good meal. We had the smoked wings, which were DELICIOUS, pork belly burger, and a bacon burger. All were very yummy, but the wings were my favorite. So much so that we got home from our trip and smoked our own wings. Great service and fun atmosphere.
I have been to other locations and love them. But the Navy Pier location is much different. They say that they serve slow and low smoked bar b que but it is all nasty. No bark or smoke ring on brisket. The chicken tasted like gas. The only somewhat good part was the pulled pork but that was probably because it was saturated in sauce. Oh the service was pretty good. I won’t be back to the Navy Pier location ever again.
Contrary to some of the other recent posts about slow service and bad food, we had a great experience. Our party of 7 stopped for lunch mid afternoon and got seated right away. Food only took about 20 minutes to arrive and was pretty good, especially the French fries and the Mac and Cheese. I did get a frozen margarita that I probably wouldn’t order again since it’s served in a pint glass but aside from that, no complaints!
Terrible service from beginning to end. Had nothing to do with how busy they were because Ive been to plenty of places that have been busier on a Saturday night but still managed to always be on top of things. Our waiter had a hard time even being courteous. Drink refill? Never asked if we need any. Hows our food? Never came back to see if everything is going good. Asked for an extra plate... And he never came back to bring it to us. Had to ask someone else in the wait staff. I suggest never coming to this location at all.
Great for people with allergies. I went in for lunch with my family today. I currently cannot have dairy or soy because our newborn cannot tolerate me having any. I told our server, placed my order and a few minutes later the manger came over to confirm all the ingredients in my chicken salad were ok but one of the ingredients noted that there MAY be dairy or soy in the facility where it is processed. I often feel bad going out to eat having such an intense restriction, but this team of staff made sure I enjoyed the treat of eating out and they went above and beyond to make sure my meal was safe. Really great job to this team. I really appreciated you all today! BTW we took our 5.5 month old with us, in her stroller and they accommodated it so easily. It took about 10 minutes for our server to come over initially, once she did we were pretty happy with the amount of check-ins for refills, etc. When the bill came we were more than ready to go so we made sure to send it with her since the number of tables seemed to double suddenly and we didnt want a long wait. She ran the bill really fast and we were on our way.
Ate here 2 months ago and it was pretty good. As a vegan I ordered their veggie wrap that they had which was very good and filing since it came with fries. They also have a black bean burger which I thought was vegan but when I asked the waiter kindly went to double check to see if it was and unfortunately wasnt. They dont have any vegan options expect for the wrap. My family did quite enjoy their food though. We sat by the outside which was very nice for the summer. Also have to mention that when we got there we had to wait about 15 mins before we ate. Overall service here is nice my aunt gave a generous tip. FIRST TIME COMING HERE.
Reading these reviews it seems like this place is very hit or miss. Some of the staff needs more training on how to treat costumers. We came in yesterday for the first time this is our first time in Chicago the woman seated us in the way back basically not even in the restaurant on a metal table in the blaring sun when we asked for an actual table she obliged but was very rude about it, now I admit I had a slight attitude when she first showed us our seats because I was overwhelmed with hungry Children and really didnt want to sit in the cold in the sun however when I apologized she brushed me off and gave me a nasty look. Our order was taken and almost everything got messed up my mom asked for well done and her burger was nearly raw my brother in law asked for no cheese and his had cheese (they did replace his) my mom never got the water she ordered.the burger was bland, for the price I was definitely expecting a better experience. Our waitress and another man who helped us clean up after my son spilled his drink were very friendly and helpful.
Lets start by acknowledging the fact that this restaurant is in Navy Pier, and is extremely busy. We were promptly sat, but when asked if we wanted indoors or outdoor seating, I requested indoor since it was so hot outside. Our host took us to the closest table to the open doors leading out to the outdoor patio!?! Again, it was busy, there werent that many other open tables for 4, so we laughed and enjoyed the warm breeze from outside. 1 of our waitresses came over and introduced herself, and told us she would be training, and that the other waitress would be over to get our drink orders. Waitress 2 arrives shortly after, and apologizes for the wait, and explains that she is new and that she would be trying her best to take care of us. Our drinks and food order were handled promptly, and the food even came out fast for the amount of people in the restaurant. Our food was out so fast, that it was surprisingly cold, and dry. We had the BBQ chicken sandwich, and the chicken was bone dry, almost hard to swallow. Had it not been for the bbq sauce, it would have been inedible. The french fries were hot, but the chicken sandwich left a lot to be desired. We were clearly done with our meal, and ready to go, but the 2 waitresses stood just outside the chatting while we sat and waited for the bill. I was finally able to grab the trainees attention, and they both walked over to the table. The trainee took our payment while the other waitress nervously explained how busy they were, and how she hoped the trainee did a good job. Again, it was busy, but they were just standing outside talking. I would not want to visit this place on a weekend, or evening, if this is how well service is handled on a weekday post-lunch rush.
We visited the bar for a quick drink and an appetizer. Unfortunately we were there at a time when the manager needed a “recount” of the register. This left the full bar and the well station for the restaurant floor to be serviced by one guy for about 15 min. He was doing the best he can but there was no way he was gonna keep up at dinner time on a Sunday. So service was terrible (by the time we had to call them over to get any kind of attention). The people next to us couldn’t get their change until the count was reconciled. When I complained to the manager he just took care of our drink bill. That wasn’t the point. I’d rather pay for my drinks and get good service. Then they had one bartender imputing the receipts from the day at the bar. Maybe he should do that in a back office location..? Cause now he’s busy but also unable to assist customers (putting him in a tough spot). The staff is nice but the place is being mismanaged. Our food wasn’t ever put it. Which I learned 30 min later. Thanks for the free beer but never returning. No wonder there wasn’t a wait for seats...other reviews comment on the same poor customer service despite great effort by the staff.
1st time in Chicago. I watched as our waitress walked passed our table 5 times with our drinks empty. I finally asked the cook who brought out our food, if he could get the waitress to refill our drinks. I then had to ask the other 3 times for refills. She never checked on our table once. I know she had wrong orders for another table and she was too worried about pleasing them to even notice us. Would not recommend this place. Our burgers were lukewarm when we finally receive them. This was on a Monday, they were not that busy.
The dining area was packed on the Saturday night we visited, so we took a seat on the bar side and ordered beers and an appetizer. The service was great -- we were looking for a local beer and our server recommended a great brew. When she brought my husband the wrong beer, she gave him another pint of the right one, but only charged us for one. Good, quick service.
How is this place still in business? I went here with 8 people and we all ordered burgers/sandwiches/fish as our entrees (with sides of fries) and instead received fries with a side of hamburger/sandwich/fish. Smallest portion sizes ever. Huge waste of money. Take your money elsewhere. I will never refer this place to anyone.
Was recommended, but really disappointed. Service was poor... was hard to get drink refills, appetizer came out with entrees. Food was just poor. Pulled pork was dry and stringy... only moisture was the sauce. Basically fast food quality. Tea was slightly colored water. Nice memorabilia, but that was the only positive.
We went 6/7 and unfortunately the female bartender was more interested in flirting and talking to the two male bartenders than waiting on customers. We would have stayed longer as game was coming on, but service was lacking so went elsewhere to watch. I had a peach daiquiri that was very good, the place was clean and I liked the ambiance.
We were there at 2:20 pm Friday 12/6/19. Sat near window area. They were short staff. Chris, our waiter was nice but drinks took forever to get. Food came out to us & many other tables before drinks. We were wanting another drink but Chris was covering multiple tables. There appeared to be a management at the window on their iPads most of the time not noticing many had not received drinks. So plan on good food, but waiting quite some time for drinks, even water.
I’m definitely disappointed in this restaurant. I came in with such high expectations. Our waitress was sweet, but seemed to be overworked or rather just busy. Saturday nights at any restaurant is going to be busy on the pier. Had to ask several times for drink refills, ended up giving us refills one by one with at least 5-7 minute intervals. As a family of seven, we expected some wait time. We had two orders messed up completely. Left off the side on one of the entree’s and brought out the wrong burger ordered. The waitress was able to exchange the wrong burger for the right order. Unfortunately, it was brought out wrong again. My son asked for Mayonnaise for his cheeseburger when ordering. It took two additional times asking for us to receive the mayonnaise, again after about 15 minutes (he only ate a quarter due to the burger being cold). After all was done, we decided to get the bill. Upon going over and making sure that was correct, she charged us for an extra entree. Of course she corrected that after explaining it to her. We did have a manager stop by our table to ensure that the burger would be brought out after the first initial service. First night in Chicago dining out as a family did not go as planned. As we were there, we did see two tables of people get up and leave because of the lack of service. I would go to another restaurant before choosing this one.

2022-05-20Located right on the navy pier which is convenient. It’s pretty spacious and made wait time very minimal on a weekend.Food was decent.Service was blah. Being in a hot tourist spot; service is as expected. Feels like they want you in and out. If you’re visiting Chicago- I’d say don’t stop by here as it seems to just be a tourist trap. Better to go out & experience something more local instead unless you’re in a time crunch & hungry while in navy pier.

2022-05-31The food was better than I thought it would be given the reviews. The burger was good, not fantastic or holy cow, but it was decent. The salad my wife ordered was really good, and the ribs were plentiful. The Patron tree was neat, but mostly for show. The margarita mix was quite salty and not to my liking. Ryan, our server, was very attentive and great.

2022-07-04When we got in the girls in the front were very rude just talking and didnt pay attention to us at first. They talk and then they said table for 4? we said yea we asked for a table outside in the front they said no and just gave us an random table so one of the girls who were talking just leads us to our table even though we asked for front and she gave us a random one. Our server Cora, was okay though as she introduced herself and was nice to us. Also I want to let you know we ordered onion rings and their like 10 dollars or something and we got 4. FOUR like if they were big it would be okay ya know but they were.. ya know not. Like huhhh anyways I tried chicken bites their pretty good but their kinda hard or something and the fries are okay not to bad or to good their like pretty salty to but thats okay to me also for a table of 4 if your ordering kinda a lot of things their like barely any space.

2021-11-26Despicable service. Waitress was running from us, did not bring napkins, forks. The order came incorrect. The burger bun came dry from the frozen party. Looks like it was deep fried. The jumbo soup came with chicken bones, the mac and cheese was dry with no cheese at all, with some greasy substance. The rice was half cooked and looked expired. Bloody marry looked dirty, I wonder if they even put tomato juice inside. The menu itself consist only of limited items. Terrible experience. Just go to McDonalds and street food truck.

2021-09-08Very friendly staff. What the Fried Pickle Chips lacked in seasoning the Sriracha Ranch made up for. Wish my Blueberry Mojito glass wasnt full of ice, as it was as refreshing as the breeze blowing through the patio. Also had a Holy Cow Burger...it was definitely burger, but not much holy about it...kind of bland. They do have some really cool memorabilia available to view too.

2022-05-09Our experience at this place wasn’t very great. It was my Mom’s birthday so we went out for lunch. Service was slow and non-attentive. Waitress was cut halfway through, seemed to be overworked. Our second server was able to pay more attention to us. Received a gross, dirty water glass that was promptly replaced but when we received a pitcher of water, that was extremely gross too. The fried pickles were good but oddly hard. The beyond burger and fries were good. The restaurant was not very busy but food took a while. Our last server was very kind to us and he was greatly appreciated.
