I highly recommend this place to anyone who’s looking to have their hair or makeup done professionally. These girls know what they’re doing and they take great care to make sure you’re satisfied with the end result. I’m hooked on their blowouts and will never do my own makeup for another special occasion again.
I recently had my bridal (+trial) hair and makeup done at Goldplaited along with my bridesmaids. I was really happy with how everything turned out, the entire goldplaited staff was so pleasant and really great at what they did. The price was also very reasonable for the area. They offer bridal in salon or on site at your hotel, we chose in salon just for ease due to proximity and it was def nice to have the space to move around. They did not charge extra for eyelashes or airbrush which was nice. Would def recommend for weddings!
We hired Goldplaited for a braid bar and it was an absolute hit! It was one of our favorite events that weve ever hosted at our space. Not only were the braiders on time and professional, they were really friendly and knowledgeable. They gave really great recommendations for hair styles and I was super impressed with their ability to braid different styles between 10-15 minutes. I would highly recommend them!
So I had a wedding to attend booked the place because this was the first one that popped up. First day I was late by 10 mins and was charged it was fine my fault. Second day I reached on time and by makeup was scheduled for 2 but did not stay till 2:15 ish. Once makeup was done I had my hair done and once everything was done I paid and left and when I was sent the receipt it showed a fee for overtime. It was not my fault they started late I have short hair and all I had done was loose curls. It a cute place but the prices don’t add up when you pay. I was booked for a fee of 140 and both times I paid 170! Each time!!!Be prepared if your booking that your willing to spend 200 because the price they quote you onlineAnd what you are charged do not add up. I had the same look first and second day and I don’t understand how it was a overtime!!!
The place was cute and the staff were friendly. My hair experience was okay. She didn’t understand what I wanted and I ended up redoing my hair at home. She made it look so stiff with the excessive amounts of hairspray.For makeup, they don’t use high quality brands. It’s all these random brands ( except for the Morphe eyeshadow palette). My lipstick was already off after 1 hour. The make up started to crease when I laughed. They use very basic make up techniques that I could’ve definitely used at home. I expected that I am going to a professional make up artist who is going to make me look great with techniques I am not familiar with. I guess not.Overall, I think their make up service is not worth it. You can definitely end up with the same results at home.
The makeup artist I scheduled an appointment with is super talented, my finished look was absolute perfection. Clean environment and the hour slots allow time for a quality service. I’ll call the salon and find out her name to make an edit later.
Andrea did my makeup and she is UNREAL. Not only did she do an amazing job, but I also was crying at a good friends wedding and legit none of my makeup came off at all.
Great salon, very courteous and friendly staff. The hair stylist understood well what I wanted. She was very knowledgeable and professional. I believe she is the manager at this location and is doing a great job! Definitely will come back again. If in Chicago, give it a try !
The woman who did my hair was nice but she could not figure out my bangs. Also, my hair fell flat the moment I stepped out the door. I will have to redo my hair and this was essentially a waste of time and money. I strongly discourage against the dry blowout.
The staff here is so friendly and welcoming! incredibly knowledgeable, and meticulous with their work for both hair and makeup. I loved my hair and makeup by Marisol and Andrea! I’ve been to many other stylists and make up artists at the salon and was very pleased with every look they did. Any stylist I was paired with always answered any of my questions or concerns without ever making me feel rushed. Goldplaited is amazing and I’m extremely satisfied with their services.

The shop is absolutely adorable, I love the decor. Its all very dapper and GOLD!I was able to book a last minute appointment via phone for my bridal shower last weekend! I had my hair blown out to loose curls, my make up done simultaneously (I highly appreciate their efficiency) with lashes as an extra! I dont typically wear make up on a daily basis and they definitely know how to make a girl look polished and enhanced without looking like a clown. I posted some photos of the bridal shower and someone told me I looked like a movie star! I did leave feeling very glamorous. I am now booking them to do my hair/make up for my bachelorette AND rehearsal dinner party.If you havent tried their services, do yourself a favor and go, you wont be disappointed. They are very reasonable! Great service, they hung up my jacket, and offered a beverage immediately before I even parked my derriere in a chair.
I had my hair done for my outdoor wedding reception last Saturday and had a fantastic experience. I had an 8 AM appointment and was seen right away (and given a life-saving cup of coffee). My stylist, Will, chatted with me for a few minutes about what kind of updo I wanted and he got right to work. He was wonderful and communicative while he worked, making sure I was happy with everything along the way. He was magically done with my giant mane in 45 minutes and the beautiful style held up through running around in rain, hours of dancing, and cleanup. All in all, a great way to start my day of celebration!
Really nice staff and my hair looked great. Unfortunately the lashes they did on me were falling off before I even took photos for my graduation. It was significant enough to be noticeable in the photos and made me look super undone throughout the day. The hair experience was great and I was able to wear my hair the next day for brunch as well.
Great service and all day volume! I recently had my hair and makeup done here for an afternoon wedding. I looked great and my hair lasted ALL day. I didnt get the name of either of my stylists but I would highly recommend.
Never been to a finishing salon before but didnt trust myself to style my own hair for my headshots this time. Goldplaited was chill and cozy, Krista took great care of me, even though Id shown her pix to illustrate the gist of what I wanted, she still checked in and regularly asked questions to make sure I walked out happy an feeling/looking like the best version of me. They also apparently teach classes, which is great for the hair inept such as myself! Will definitely be returning.
Went to the Lakeview location for hair and makeup before a family wedding. My hair came out great! The makeup not so much... SUPER cakey because she didnt blend anything out so I fixed it up myself. Would definitely get my hair done there again though!
My bestfriends and I had a reunion in Chicago and we went to Goldplaited for a special day of pampering, they did not disappoint! We all had our hair and makeup done and came out looking (and feeling) like supermodels. They staff is all friendly and easy to work with, the owners make the experience even better, we loved Co @ the front desk. Thank you GP, I will be back!
I’d say they did a damn good job!! My first time ever getting professional hair and makeup done and I’m hooked! I received so many compliments through out the night, especially on my eye makeup - shout out Becky for making me feel so beautiful last night. I will 100% be back, thank you ladies!!

Because I rely on reviews A LOT to pick the perfect place, I want to make sure everybody is aware that this place is great and the hair stylist did an amazing job on my updo. He spent an hour just working on the updo and another lady spent an hour before that prepping for the updo (well my hair is pretty long;) ).

Love my brows, if your researching microbladding search no more Ming is the best at what she does. She makes you feel comfortable the moment you step into her place. Thanks Ming your the best, looking forward for my follow up appointment. Oh and plenty of compliments on how pretty my brow looks.
Came in for Free Braid Friday. You receive a free braid with purchase of $20 in merchandise. I need some product anyway so it was a great option for me. My stylist was amazing, friendly and really helped me out because I didnt know what I wanted when I came in. I highly recommend this experience.
Wanted an updo for a wedding and got the worst hairdo ever. The owner and others let me leave the shop looking horrible. If I knew how to publish the hairdo I would. My daughter had to redo my hair and she did a fantastic job. I have a picture of that also. Cant believe they charged for it. Pathetic
There are really only good things to say about Goldplaited and the lovely Strong sisters! From the charming interior to the wonderful services they provide- goldplaited is a gem among finishing salons. Keep up the great work ladies!
Hands down, the best place to get a blowout in Chicago! Ive always loved coming here for years now and the service and owners are always top notch! Ive even used them for on location events and the service is just as excellent. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
Got a blowout and makeup for headshots. They were so fantastic and the look was awesome. They were fast, friendly, and listened to what I wanted and what I didnt want. Highly recommend. Id never been here before and they were so great.
The vibes at goldplaited are so positive, fun, and professional. I always walk out with a smile and they always give me the look Im going for. The owners are usually around to check in on the services and the experiences too. I definitely recommend!
I am a native NYer, but am in Chicago for work events often, and a trip to Goldplaited is the quickest way to wash off the flight and get ready for a few days of events. Its always a good look and is great for a special occasion, or even just events where youd like to look a bit more polished.

Im so happy I got my eyebrows done by Ming!! Ming, you are the best! You really knew how to shape my brows to fit my face. Im so happy and satisfied with the final outcome!!
Great blowouts, fast friendly service at a reasonable price in Lincoln Park/Lakeview...what more can you ask for! Definitely ask about the unlimited monthly blowout package, its a really great deal!
I HIGHLY recommend goldplaited for any type of event, party, wedding, etc. Ive gone to classes here, hosted a bachelorette party for my best friend, and have had random girls nights - goldplaited is perfect for all occasions!

2022-05-28I chose Goldplaited to do the hair and makeup for my wedding. Booking was extremely easy, and we started with the trial. I brought in a couple photos for inspo, and they did an amazing job. When the day-of came, I ended up deciding to go with a completely different makeup look and they absolutely did not disappoint. The makeup and hair lasted throughout the entire day. The only thing is that I wish I could replicate what they did!

2022-05-17Really enjoyed our makeup experience at goldplaited prior to my husbands birthday celebration. My girlfriend and I got our makeup done on one of the first hot Chicago days and were slightly worried about our makeup melting off as our night went on but it was definitely not the case! We both had a great experience and enjoyed our time with the makeup artists. It was easy to chat and figure out what kind of look we were going for and we felt heard the entire time — which sometimes isn’t the case when getting makeup done. Thanks to the goldplaited team we really enjoyed our evening and looked fresh/great doing so!

2022-01-18I’ve been getting my hair done here at least once a week for over five years. I can’t stop! I have their monthly membership which allows me unlimited blowouts on certain days of the week and I absolutely love it. The membership is such a good deal for someone like me. I have a lot of hair and only wash it once a week so the style lasts me forever. They do great blowouts with a flat iron that last me all the days.All of their stylists are awesome, but their current crew is the best. Estrella, Car, Jazmine, Krista, and Brittany all leave me feeling fabulous. I’ve had my hair done here for my wedding, maternity photos, to be a wedding guest, and other special events. Oh and their makeup artists are also the best! Okay, I should stop. Go here. You’ll look so good.

2022-02-16I was lucky to have Goldplaited as my moms, grandmas, bridesmaids, and my own hair and makeup for my wedding. They did a fantastic job, worked quickly and efficiently, and were very open to customizing the look of each girl in ensuring they listened to each persons’ preference for their hair/makeup. I would recommend booking them for your wedding and going into the salon for the services. It was fun to have that space for the day while we got ready and relaxed when others were being done up.

2022-06-10I have coming here since 2019.I have a horrible experience today with a stylist today. I came in for my appointment for a dry blowout- she did a horrible job of giving me beach wave curls. The flat iron she used look burnt up and burn my hair. I immediately bought it up to Andrea at the front desk. She offer to have another stylist do my hair but would have to wait another 20 minutes. I couldn’t wait as I only have an hour for my lunch break. I ask if she could accommodate a later appointment or for the following day. They didn’t have anything that fit my availability as I need my hair done for an event at 10am the following day. I left with her letting me know that she would reach out to the owners about accommodating me with another appointment. No call back after 2 hours do I call back. She was busy checking in people so she called me back 10 minutes later to explain to me that the owner, Mal said that they couldn’t accommodate me and cancelled my monthly membership and that I should find another salon. Wow, really that how you treat loyal customers because they don’t like the service. What a shame that an owner has such a poor leadership skills that doesn’t have the ability to fix a problem.

2022-05-15Ive never (and I mean NEVER) been able to get my stick straight, fine hair to hold a curl. And these people did it. And they did it in 10 minutes! When I walked out of the salon I was skeptical - my hair looked cute but surely it would fall out in an hour, right? NOPE! It lasted all night and felt like there was barely any hairspray in. I finally got the beautifully curled locks of my dreams. If you have stick straight hair and want to see the light, go to goldplaited - best $50 Ive ever spent to learn that I (and others) have just been doing it wrong the whole time and that my hair is capable of curlingIf I did have one suggestion for the salon, it would to be more flexible with cancellations and re-scheduling, particularly for first-time customers. I made my appointment and realized right after that there was no way the appointment time I had scheduled would work. Unfortunately, I had made the appointment within their 24-hour cancellation policy (which I obviously did not realize they had) and the receptionist on the phone was inflexible with letting me cancel. If I hadnt eventually been able to work out a time to reschedule, I likely never would have come back and they would have lost a customer.

2021-11-20I’m so glad I booked Goldplaited for my wedding. The team at the salon was incredibly professional, courteous and responsive. Their pricing is straightforward and clear; parking/transportation is included with the on-site flat rate which I appreciated. Estrella did an incredible job on my short hair and my makeup was out of this world! On the day of my trial, she knew my inspiration boards by heart (!!!) and absolutely nailed them. She was responsive to my feedback and so easy to work with. Exactly what I hoped for—and more—on my wedding day! Cannot recommend them enough.

2022-05-28Absolutely terrible cancellation policy. If you dont cancel within 24 hours you get charged for the whole cost of the service. when I tried to cancel my blowout because I could no longer make it, I was told the cancellation fee was $50, the cost of the service. That is absolutely ridiculous. No courtesy for when things come up and you cant make your appointment. What happens when something happens and you last minute you cannot make an apt? Any business with good customer service would be understanding. I was told I could get a one time $20 cancellation fee as a courtesy. Do not recommend.

2022-04-04I was a bit nervous trying this new place out but i was not disappointed! Charles took his time to listen to my ideas and provide his own advice. Walked away with a great haircut! Strongly recommend Charles if you are looking for a good haircut!!
