One of the best Korean restaurant in Illinois🔥 Usually restaurants have some that are great and some that are meh. But this place EVERY.SINGLE.FOOD. is delicious! I cannot pick just one but our son really loves Galbitang and Sulrungtang here. I always order their Grilled Mackerel and Bulgogi. Also their banchan (side dishes) are great. The staff are accommodating and friendly and restaurant is always clean.-Kid friendly👶🏻
We ordered the kimchi pancake which was crispy and chewy. Filled proportionally in the middle with enough kimchi.Side dishes were good but not over crowded.Wife ordered dduk-kuk (rice cake soup) which she enjoyed and I ordered the galbi-taang (bone broth soup). They were both flavored well and not overly salty. It was a bit on the expensive side but would return in the future.
You know that when I see a restaurant has a 5 star review many times I believe its because you are going to have to pay a hefty price for a special meal but this Korean restaurant in a shopping strip mall is very low key but the food was amazing my wife had the mackrell(special and strong) I had the bulgogi And I must say it was the best I have ever eaten,BY FAR I think I will have to be carted to my car in a wheel narrow, I am so full!!if I could Give 6 stars I wouldThere was an elderly gentleman and women who served us with such tenderness and the most genuine smile I would not doubt if they were the owners but even if they were the cooks they were beautiful people
Why the extra $1 for carry out for each dish? Galbitang soup and spicy pork belly are already $18.99 each, plus $1 extra for carryout , they are $19.99 each. After taxes, $44 for a soup and a dish is way too $$$. Galbitang was good and had a good amount of meat . Spicy pork belly was okay (not deep enough flavor).
Simply the best Korean food around. Family owned, super friendly, just overall amazing people running this restaurant. I have been eating here for over a year and never have had a bad experience. The consistency here is just incredible! Also their kimchi is unbelievable I order extra every time!Thank you everyone at Golden Durebak for everything you do! Much love ❤️!!
Usually, when you order takeout food, the amount of food is lacking compared to dining in. However, this place... it is worth the price, huge amount. It is good amount of where you can eat fully after doing 2 hours of running (my experience). Not only the amount is abundant, the food tastes really good. I ordered 우거지 해장국 and 삼계탕. If you have a strong taste bud, this is the right place for you!
I ordered takeout and was quoted 15 min. I left right after, and it was done right on time if not earlier! It was super easy to order and the food was delicious! I had the spicy chicken bulgogi and it was amazing! It also came with rice and plenty of bean sprouts, kimchi, shredded spicy radish, and sliced potatoes. Serving size was HUUUGE! I could have shared but finished more than half alone haha definitely recommended
This new place gave me a good impression of their quality. The place is very clean (the place is new), food I ordered tasted great, and I had no issues during my visit at all. As to all Korean restaurant, all food come with a side dish like kimchi, fish cakes, and such. The price is a little up there, but that is normal as they are not too common and Korean cuisine needs a lot of prep work.
Listen. Moving from the city to the burbs was hard because Chitown food options are world class. But what made it easy was knowing that the Chicago suburbs is home to many Korean Americans - and the food, the bbq, in the burbs rivals the west coast in freshness and taste. Golden Durebak is Golden for a reason. Try an order of the L.A. Kalbi and ur mind will be blown. On a cold nite, any one of their many soups will warm you to the core. I prefer their beef bone spicy soup..
I am really reluctant to rag on a mom &pop establishment esp. during these unprecedented twilight zone times. But I am loathe to see all these fake reviews. Theres no way this place is a 4.9. After my experience its a 3 at best. Its in a depressed strip mall where many businesses have fled for greener pastures. Yes. the inside is clean and quite. But the food fare is lacking. I purchased two take out orders of Dolsot bimbimpap. One of my favorite Korean dishes. My order contained approx. 94% day old rice, 4% veggies, .1.1% fried egg and 0.9% of a ground beef like substance. For the asking price of 13.99$. Thats not a fair price for the ingredients listed above. At least 3% real meat would be decent for the prices Golden Du re bak charges. There are closer options that have better food. Like Naomis sushi express run by a Korean family or even Ramen House Shinchan which has a few korean dishes on their menu. I unfortunately wont be going back until their food improves.
Amazing service. Food was delicious. But the service was just out of this world. Banchan and water refills without even asking. The ajumma also boxed up our food for us at the end. The prices are not bad either!! Highly recommended. New favorite Korean restaurant in this neighborhood!!

2022-04-23Best Korean restaurant. I’ve frequented many Korean restaurants, and this one is my favorite by far. Amazing food, and impeccable service. The food is always fresh, and hot. Just how I like it. You also get plenty of little side dishes with your order. Another great thing is you never feel rushed when eating here. Great food, friendly service, and nice ambiance. I would highly recommend.

2022-01-31Vaccine card requires to sitting inside. Great food and friendly services. Really good stir fry spicy pork belly and Kimchi jjigae (spicy Kimchi soup). They offered a lots of Korean beer and Korean rice wine which is perfect for dinner. Restaurant located in the strip mall and a lots of parking space.

2021-09-28How does this place have good reviews? I’m assuming the owners told their friends and family to leave good reviews. This place just shoves a bunch of meat in a bin and sells it, their low quality togo containers spilled in the bag. Will never come here again. The menu said 13$ online, I get there and they say 17.50, should have just taken the hint and just left but I was starving. And they charge a dollar for those to-go container those would cost me 3 cents.

2022-03-11Update:I hate giving bad reviews. But thats just not serious! I ordered a soup for to go. One soup - kimchi, tofu, pork and shrimp. It actually had ONE shrimp with all its precious excrements, 2-3 tiny slices of pork, no kimchi and looots of tofu. Also, as a present, I guess, they left a few pieces of egg shells. I found them piece after piece while eating the delicious soup. And the biggest surprise was that piece of plastic (or may be shrimp shell?!) in the soup. Pictures attached. There was literally only one table with 2 costumers inside when I ordered my SOUP. Ecxuse my ignorance, but how do you expect more costumers if you dont pay attention when preparing your food? You can read my review below of when you opened your restaurant, I was one of the first that reviewed your restaurant with 5 stars. Im sorry, thats not acceptable at all.Its a brand new Korean restaurant in our area and we really liked it. Plenty of parking spaces. The atmosphere is nice, the waitress was very friendly, the food was so delicious! My family loves Korean food, weve been in a few other restaurants. Well visit again for sure! Thank you, we wish you 🤞luck! 😊

2021-10-17My husband and I were having a day trip around the area and wanted to get our Korean food fix. I did search on Google and found several Korean restaurants and read their reviews. This was the best option because the reviews were pretty good and the picture of the food convinced me. I’m glad we decided to go there because we were amazed at the portions, menu options and the customer service by the elderly staff. Here is my motto when picking a good restaurant, if the older generation isn’t eating there and I don’t see an ahjumma bringing you your food, then the food isn’t that great. The food was on point and the portions were more than expected. The customer service was beyond what my husband and I would expect if we went to a trendy spot. Not to mention the ahjumma wanted to make sure we enjoyed our food and she even gave me advice on eating my dish quickly, if I was packing it to go. She cared enough to make sure our food wasn’t spoiled when we headed back home. My husband and I would def come back when in the area and definitely recommend this little Korean spot to anyone looking for a more authentic taste.

2021-11-08I went with my wife and a friend of ours. We each individually ordered the exact same dish with hot green tea! 😆 This is a lower-priced item on the menu I knew I would enjoy as its a staple Korean dish: 48. 돌솥 비빔밥 Dol Sot Bibimbap $13.99.We all enjoyed it, and it was filling. While the tables here do not have built-in grills, the experience was still fun as the (stone?) bowl the Bibimbap was served in was *extremely* hot. The bed of rice under the other ingredients crackled for at least 15-20 minutes plus. The bottom of the rice doesnt burn but turnef deliciously crispy.I plan to return to try other items and bring other family and friends. The only deterrent some people might have is the price, which seems higher than most restaurants in the area, though part of that may be general inflation.Recommended!

2021-10-31We went as a large group for lunch. The restaurant helped us get a good spot to sit together and also served all of our food in a good timely manner. The wait time wasnt long and we all got our food at the same time. It was my first time having seollongtang and I was pleasantly surprised. My friends let me know that its usually bland so that people can season it to their own taste preferences. The banchans were also good, especially the gamja jjorim. I look forward to going again.
