Such a great store! Amazing staff and great selection! Whether you’re looking for a toy for your kids, a gift for someone else’s kids, or maybe even something for yourself, the gingerbread house has something for you! We drive 40+ miles just to go to this store. That’s how good it is!
Friendly and helpful staff plus unique and high-quality selection make every visit a delightful and fun experience. This is hands down the best place to shop for all of the babies and kiddos in your life. Bonus points for setting up stations where kids can play with all of the newest toys. Locally owned. A gem for the generations! I great up going to the Gingerbread House and so happy for the new ownership so my son can enjoy the fun and excitement of a trip to The Gingerbread House. We are always met with a smile and outstanding service. Great selections for all ages and free gift wrap is a Christmas miracle! You gotta come to the Gingerbread House!
I am frequently in the store with my children but recently wanted to make a purchase online so my kids wouldnt see what I was buying them for Christmas. The online ordering was a piece of cake and they wrapped and delivered my items THE SAME DAY!!! Are you kidding me!?! Incredible service from an amazing small business in our town. The staff at The Gingerbread House are wonderful people (Wink is pretty wonderful,too!) who have great suggestions about what toys would work to give as gifts. This is by far one of my childrens favorite places in town!
I love shopping at The Gingerbread House. Ive been able to find some unique items as well as vintage toys I can remember having myself. And theyve been a huge hit with the kids! You can really tell the owners work hard to provide quality, educational toys - and that they care about their customers and the community. Glad to see such an awesome Bloomington tradition is being carried on so well.
Great locally owned business. Very friendly and helpful when picking out something age appropriate. Kids love that they can try out so many toys too. Big selection of STEM toys. Prices can be a bit higher than online or big box stores, but willing to pay that premium to stay local. Free gift wrap.
Ive picked up some educational toys for my niece and they have all been a hit. The staff is so amazing too! Im in the service industry and this place knows customer service, they make you feel like youre the only one in the store because they give you individualized attention. I highly recommend this place for toys for kids of all ages!

This is the only store we buy childrens items whether it be toys, games or baby items. The selection is great and the customer service is outstanding. To find such a jewel in Bloomington/Normal is just fantastic!!!

2022-02-06This past summer my six year old daughter left behind her wallet at the Bloomington Gingerbread House. We live in Iowa, and I was unaware she even lost her wallet. Since Calista had her school ID in there, the Gingerbread House sent her wallet- still with her $16- to her school for her and she was thrilled. We will be back every time we visit family in Bloomington! What an adorable children’s shop, with caring and lovely people. Thank you!

2021-10-07The ONLY place that had the item I was looking for & was willing to ship the large, heavy item. I had a question about my order and they instantly got back to me. My huge lava lamp was BEAUTIFULLY boxed and shipped with no problems! I wish I lived closer to this store, it appears to be “one of a kind” with the service they offer and toys they carry! Would certainly order again from them! We need to support businesses like these.

2021-08-07The Gingerbread House has been a staple of this city since I was a child, probably before. Whenever we come back to town to visit we stop here with my child to see the new toys. We try to order all my nieces and nephews bday gifts and Christmas gifts here. If you have a young child this is an must stop location. But be prepared to buy toys because you are guaranteed to find something your child will want.

2018-11-24I really could not be happier with my experiences at the Gingerbread House. The selection of toys is fantastic - unique options, fair prices, and some toys I can remember loving as a child as well. But what really sells this place is the customer service. Everyone was super helpful. I brought my mother and grandmother to get some shopping done for the kids in our family. We were able to get ALL of our shopping done in one day. Plus, they offer free gift wrapping. That is AMAZING!! Being able to spend the day with my family and helping my grandmother complete her Christmas shopping/wrapping is a great feeling and I couldn’t have done that without this store. Thank you, Gingerbread House!

2019-07-11We absolutely love the Gingerbread House! I love supporting small businesses in our town, but they make it easy to support because of their hard work in providing unique toys and things that you won’t find anywhere else! The staff is always so helpful in finding toys and activities that are right for your child’s age, likes and abilities! My one reason for giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is for price. I do realize that the items they offer are superior quality to that of the items in a big box store. That said, I still have a hard time spending $20 on a baby chew toy that won’t even be played with for more than a few months. And I rarely spend more than $25-30 on a friend’s birthday gift, yet it can be tricky to find items that they’d love that are in that price range. Maybe that’s trivial, but it does sometimes play into my choice in where to buy gifts. Outside of that, I highly recommend them!

I love buying gifts for baby showers and birthdays here, because they have the most adorable gift wrap, that is free!! The store is super clean, Kate and the staff are awesome, and I always have an excellent experience! So happy they have an online store and shipping now!
