Fresh Thyme Market in other cities:
I recently discovered this market, and honestlyI don’t know why I hadn’t stop by before. I love their organic and natural product selection from different vendors and places around the world. It stands out from other supermarket chains that pushes their own products to the costumer. Their staff was also very kind and helpful. A few times that I have stopped by to purchase alternative medicine products and I have always been graded and helped by knowledgeable sales people. In general, it offers a pleasant, personal and unique supermarket shopping experience.
This is my favorite grocery store by far. Fresh Thyme is great no matter where you go, but this specific location has the best staff. They are so personable and friendly. Normally I just want to get my groceries and go, but the staff her makes this place so welcoming. Since March 2020, Ive dreaded going grocery shopping, but this place always makes me feel safe and welcome.
Clean public bathrooms (at least pre-pandemic, i try not to go into public bathrooms these days). This is important to me because bathrooms maintenance is usually last on managers task list for employees. It is a good indicator that the bigger things are getting done properly. Since this place seems food, cleanliness is very high on my list. The employees are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. It is almost reminiscent of the corner store of my youth.Pricing is good but if you got the right sale, can be unbeatable at times.Selection and variety for a large store is great. I get a bulk of my vitamins and supplements here.If you miss the feel, experience, quality, and pricing of the original Marianos supermarket when Bob owned it, then Fresh Thyme is your place. When I shop for the family, I never want to think what could have gone wrong for this food product to be in a bad state. I often get that at big chain supermarkets, but I am very thankful I have never got that at Fresh Thyme. I have never seen bad product on display. They do a great job at maintaining a standard.
I have now on two separate occasions (over three months apart) found indianmeal worms in the trail mix I have purchased from this Fresh Thyme location. Fresh Thyme has the bulk mix bins and has a particular mix that I really do love (hence the return to the store a few months after the first incident). However, I would now consider this to be a reoccurring issue they can not get under control. Its disgusting and disappointing.
This is my goto grocery store since they’ve opened. Love their selection and more importantly, their staff are amazing! A kind, great group of employees. My kids love their free kid selection shelf that has healthy options of fruit or crayons and a coloring sheet. The staff are always so kind to give them stickers and greet the kids as well. Highly recommend this store.
Very nice and clean place. The employees are very nice and welcoming. Lots of staff are on site so help with finding items when asked for help is a great plus. The range of organic needs are great from food, veggies, fruits and household and personal needs are gteat. Good choice of bulk items like nuts, seeds, grains and candy available.
I really like that my products are easy to find for me specially being a vegan. Only thing yall can do better is fix that produce section guys it is messy. If you gonto Tonys or Petes or Marianos the Produce is 1st as soon as you walk in. Not in the back of the store and then spread out all over mixed w other products.
I really enjoy Fresh Thyme. They have a wide variety of items that are curated enough so as not to be overwhelming. The prices are great compared to similar stores in the area. I also enjoy the wide bulk selection so you can reduce your single use packaging consumption. The folks who work here are friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. I also appreciate how diligent they are about spanking and masks relative to Coronavirus safety. I went at a typically slow time, so it might be more overwhelming at a peak time.
Fresh Thyme has wronged me—along with the rest of the Peanut Butter Community—deeply. I have told friends, family, acquaintances, and even complete strangers about Fresh Thymes freshly-ground, house-made peanut butter. It is quite literally the perfect peanut butter. I, at this point in my life, havent had better peanut butter. The peanut butters consistency lies somewhere in between creamy and crunchy. The peanut butter is fluffy, airy—yet substantial. A substantial aspect of my admiration for this peanut butter is that PEANUTS are the sole ingredient found in this peanut butter—no palm oil, no sugar, no junk,—JUST PEANUTS. This peanut butter is so fresh that the expected oil separation quite often associated with natural peanut butters is a non-issue. No stirring necessary! Chicagos best peanut butter could be purchased for $1.99 a pound (the best peanut butter in the city for the best price in the city). But that all changed today.Fresh Thyme, drunk from the chalice of free market capitalism, struck a fatal blow to the Peanut Butter Community (PBC) today. They changed the price of their peanut butter from $1.99 to a devastating $3.99. For those of you wondering, this is a 200% price increase. There is no indication of any new ingredients, no organic peanuts, none of that—just relentless, unbridled capitalism. I dont know which C-Suite fiend(s) enacted this maniacal decision, but I wish nothing but the worst for them. They have crossed a line that PBC will NOT tolerate, and my lifes work will be to return Fresh Thymes Freshly Ground Peanut Butter back to its $1.99 per pound price (or whatever the price will be accounting for inflation).I sang the praises of Fresh Thymes peanut butter. I proselytized from the rooftops. I expected nothing in return—just knowing that I could get a pound of perfect peanut butter for two dollars was all I needed. Those days are long gone. I have nothing. My deepest, darkest nightmares have become my own living hell.
I finding myself buying more and more of my groceries from Fresh Thyme. It is awesome that they do bulk well and that I can shop with the least amount of plastic consumed by coming to this grocery store. It I really appreciate their selection of vegetarian/vegan products and organic produce. They have a good selection of wine but it would be nice to have more organic and no sulfite/sulfate red wines. Their fresh baked bread is rather limited so I usually buy bread elsewhere.
I love this store but it is not pandemic friendly. Door opens and the carts are in a corridor with no staff enforcing social distancing. With the trend set its everyone for themselves and nothing to do about it other than hope none of the herd milling about the tight aisles are infected. They had plenty of stock as most stores do, just unfortunately not as proactive as some in assisting safety.
You can tell the employees dont want to be here. I had one cashier, barely acknowledged our existence, got super mad because we put our bags on the conveyer belt, and then swiped my credit card wrong, said it was declined. I gave him a second, one, and called my credit card company who said that he never swiped it. Hard pass in the future.
I really want to like this place. It’s well lit, the shelves and displays look good, they have a great variety and the staff are always wonderful. Many of the brands they carry are of higher quality, and the meat/seafood counter is superb. Here’s the rub: every time I have purchased produce here it has either gone bad very quickly (within 3-4 days) or it has looked good on the shelf only to be crawling with worms and bugs a day later. It’s not my fridge. I have a clean fridge. For four weeks it’s been like this and I’ve thrown out 2 lbs of strawberries, 1 pack of celery, and a few pears because they’re worm ridden. The celery actually had slugs, if we’re splitting hairs.I don’t want to go to Whole(Paycheck) Foods for a good shopping experience, and every Jewel Osco I’ve been to is depressing and lacking in quality. But also my Jewel Osco celery is slug-free.
A cross between Whole Foods and Trader Joes; moderately priced with a nice selection of ready-made, frozen, prep and fresh food! Most of the staff is friendly, the ladies at check-out make waiting in line at ease.Very healthy variety from organic to plant-based to limited processed food. Many alternative foods to choose from. The store brand is a decent quality as well.
Its a big store, lost of organic and gluten free options. Even some paleo option. If youve never gone, give yourself like 2 hours. The prices are decent for what kind of store it is. Im on the Makers Diet so I was able to find a lot of things I could buy and eat. The layout was clear and the staff was polite. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is their employees are not as knowledgeable about products as I feel they should be as far as what labels meant. Its probably a lot to ask but I feel like in that kind of store they should have more knowledge.
Nice, clean, well maintained (for now anyway since its newer) grocery store with a good selection of natural & organic foods. Similar to a Whole Foods with aisles of natural personal products and dry goods, but much smaller and FAR more reasonable prices. Great meat department and produce section. Good weekly sales that keep us coming back. They honor their prices when tags are misplaced and were willing to exchange some produce that turned unexpectedly overnight.
The customer service is great, the fresh vegetables and fruit choices are reasonably priced and the staff is attentive. This is my second visit and my overall experience is decent. However, please, please, please don’t stuff the bags with groceries. Some of us live in the city and have park a distance from our apartments. I had such a tragic experience with three of my 5 grocery bags came open and spreaded all over the cold hard concrete. Fortunately, a near by neighbor witness my distressed and came to assist. Stop stuffing the grocery bags!!
I love Fresh Thyme Farmers Market! They have really great produce and great deals. Their bulk section rivals whole foods and their prices. The people are super helpful and its my new go-to market. They have good parking in the right next to a craft store and theres a bunch of stuff up the street that whole strip on Elston is rocking nowadays. Fresh Thyme--the Thyme is Now!
The parking is is usually easy and generally isnt too crowded. The staff have always been super nice, and the pastries are amazing! That said, Ive found theyre not always stocked on some items I need... otherwise, a broader and more consistent inventory would make this a solid 5 in my book!
I love this store. They have a big variety of supplements with better prices, than similar stores, lots of sales and coupons too. Food prices are much better too and theyre organic as well. Theyre kinda like a cross between a Marianos, old market look, and a Whole Foods. Nice friendly employees, easy parking, big lot. They have a little cafe type area and outside the store they actually have a service center for bikes. Air and tools for minor repairs!! Never seen that before. Did I mention they have great sales. So much more affordable. I hope they stick around.
Since we walked in, I felt such a target on my back and sticked out like a sore thumb. My family and I speak Spanish and because of that the workers were extra paying attention to us and what we picked up to make sure we put it back. I went to check out some blackberries And one of the workers completely turned around from stacking his produce to watch me. It felt terrible being targeted throughout the store and incredibly discriminatory. Never coming back here again.I would like to appreciate the Spanish speaking worker that had no problem helping my dad find his shrimp. Everyone else shame on you.
This is my go to grocery store when they have fantastic deals. Such a clean, elegant place with great food, and deals, with even better meat. Frankly, whenever they have meat sales, stock up, as all their stuff is top notch. I bought 5lbs of baby back ribs from them and theyre awesome!
One stop shop for groceries. Small enough to shop quickly and efficiently. It offers many items for differing nutritional needs. Vegan, Vegetarian, Keto, Paleo, Gluten Free included. The prices are competitive with Aldi and Trader Joes. The bakery items are super tasty!
Ive patronized this location several times however today was such a disappointment. I went to the meat counter and was ignored by one worker and the other worker was rude, both were older white males. I reported the matter to Paul the Manger who appeared to be concerned, but I explained to the manager that being ignored or rude too is never acceptable where Im spending my money.
I shopped at Fresh Thyme for the first time this past weekend. The produce was very fresh, the prices were great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This store reminds me of Whole Foods but much better prices. I look forward to my weekly shopping at Fresh Thyme!
Been coming here for the past 3 years and I had never been to a shop that offers such great customer service, and amazing selection of supplements, have not needed to go to any other shop since I started coming to N101. Sam was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came down to supplements. He helped me pick out the perfect supplements to fit my personal needs.
Incredible selection of fresh produce at great prices! Very impressive variety of bulk dried fruits and nuts as well. Produce seems to be their focus, so other items are a bit pricier than elsewhere, and selection is somewhat limited for packaged food and household goods.
I love this place with a passion... The customer service sucks sometimes I be asking for help and no one wants to help me in the floor so I took the opportunity to walk thru all the store to memorize where are the products are located for my easy access and sometimes I be helping other people to find what theyre looking for! To bad some people are hired but is sad how they represent the company... I would love to work there 😊
We love this place and the staff, we have never had any issues. Everyone is always polite and helpful. However we encountered an employee named Curtis (I believe that is his name) whom demonstrated no courtesy towards my child. He was smelling the candy bins and even though he knows better he was not touching them and that employee had the disdain to yell at him. He scared my son stiff. I approached that employee and asked him why did he yell at my kid instead of approaching either me or his dad and bringing it to our attention like any adult with reason and logic would do.. his reply was very rude and dismissive of his action. Instead he told me that I should take it up with the manager.. which I did. I hope management takes this into consideration because apparently his dismissive action can only state he will not face any corrective action. Anyone who has small kids can relate to them being kids and as parents we make sure we teach our kids to be respectful of things in a store. Again nothing against the other staff members and the store itself, our only ask is this is a teachable moment on how to be respectful towards your customers and be an adult.. The manager was polite and understanding. We wont let this 1 employees action ruin the stores reputation and all the other employees who are actually friendly and polite. This review is for the store thats located on North Avenue, River Forest location, NOT Elston.
Good prepared foods at a reasonable price; great produce. Bulk items are superb. Fresh Thyme branded foods are a good value, particularly peanut butter. This is not by any means a full grocery store, and most of the products are prepared foods in lieu of ingredients. For example, you will not find all of the ingredients for a cake, but you will find an enormous choice of processed ice cream and non dairy alternatives.
I do most of my shoppings here! Great service. Wish they sold collard greens. They dont. Have to travel to other store for it. Wish they would give extra discounts to us who come there every shopping day. Their pizza is soooo delicious. I love their veggies and their meats tastes so good. You have to shop here. Great prices for the meats.
Havent been there for a few years, decided to look again. Wide selection of baked goods, bulk foods, candy. Smaller selection of produce, meat, fish. Not particularly cheap, except perhaps on items I dont buy - candy, bakery items. Berries were cheap today, though. I wish them luck but its a very competitive market.
This is like Whole Foods, but without the WF price tag. Very affordable, good quality items. Good produce selection, limited shelf stock. You arent going to find your favorite brand here, go to Jewel for that...if you want a great selection of fresh meat, dairy and produce - come here.
I always recieve excellent, friendly and professional sevices. The staff is always knowledgeable if l have questions regarding supplements and vitamins. I love that the staff is multi-cultural and everyone appears to enjoy the work they are doing. Always a fresh selection of meat, dairy and produce. Keep up the great job and l will continue shop with you!
The products in the store are awesome the employees are helpful, knowledgeable, very willing to help. Very intresting and exclusive products. The major downfall to this store is the parking-its nearly impossible. I dont even expect to park near the door it would be fine if I had to park far but u cant park at all here. They need an alternate lot or notices letting u know where there is more parking. U wouldnt mind walking if u knew where u could park
Good selection of produce and bulk items. Lots of sales plus you dont need to sign up for a card like you do at Jewel or other markets. There is a wide variety of supplements if thats your bag. Could use a better selection of cleaning and household products, but I guess space is a little limited. In house baguettes were disappointing.
Great store for fresh produce and other healthy foods. They have lots of vitamins and supplements and things to support a healthy, active lifestyle. The Fresh Tyme brand has many organic options at affordable prices. They have a self serve olive oil, honey and almond butter station which Ive never seen before.
Fresh Thyme is an amazing place to get affordable but fresh produce. I always find that their produce is much cheaper than Whole Foods and Trader Joes! So I basically try to go here when I am getting produce. Everything else however is a little meh and the pantry items are way more expensive than even Whole Foods.Basically come for your produce but get everything else somewhere else!
Great prices for fresh produce, made in house nut butters, olive oil bar, and bulk trail mixes and items such as their carob/raw cacao/fig cubes. I LOVE that they offer 1 free healthy snack like fruit for children and they also have a large selection of natural hygiene products.
We have been shopping here for the past six months and over that time the meat, chicken and fish have been consistently disappointing. The chicken has a funky odor, the meat is always tough and the fish is not fresh. Im done giving them my business when they refuse to improve.
Probably the best full on grocery store in the area. Lots of prepared food, bulk items, good store brand, fish counter... kind of like a Whole Foods but with normal food too and normal prices. Even have store brand seltzer, for those trying hard to find some at a good price in Chicago (East Coast expats).
My go-to Fresh Thyme. I come here for speciality groceries when I need them. They have a lot of hard to find things and are very well stocked, even late in the evening. They have a lot of Asian cooking ingredients here including sauces and fresh produce. If youre a fan of Siggys kefir, this is the only place you can get the big bottles.
A cheaper whole foods, a less filled out Marianos, its almost everything you want. Good fish and lots of produce. Tons of hippy soaps and suppliments and tinctures and essential oils. And wine! Meh selection as I found no Spanish reds but good craft beer selection. Bought a nice pineapple here and a $4 frozen burrito.
We came here for a protein powder called SUN WARRIOR. It was cheaper than buying it from The Vitamin Shoppe which was $3.00 more. And I found a Almond Peanut butter in powder form. I saw that this was an easier way to drink in smoothies. I use a Nutribullet to make my smoothies. And reading in this cookbook called ZERO BELLY FAT smoothies you should use these products that is where the SUN WARRIOR PROTEIN POWDER came into play I had never used it before plus there is no STEVIA in the Natural flavor. They have 4 more flavors but they all have STEVIA which Im allergic to. And they dont have WHEY in it also. This is a fun shop to buy groceries in they carry vitamins and healthy food similar to a smaller version of Whole Foods.
I came here before it was popular they have really great prices the store to me seems like a country store bulk food Store they have small portions with the produce and have a lot of organic items I go to the one on Elston the staff is great been coming here since the doors opened up

2022-07-10Im sure youve been in Target before, bought a few things, and left confused how it ended up being over $100. This place is not exactly cheap, but it actually felt like the price matched all the stuff I got.Nice amount of sustainable food choices, and items I cant get at Jewel or Tonys. I also love the fresh-ground honey-roasted peanut butter on Granny Smith apples. 👍🏾

2022-05-05This is by far my favorite grocery store. The produce is always fresh & organized, the meat is beautiful with wonderful variety, and the pantry offerings are perfectly condensed so I always find what Im looking for without the overwhelming options.

2019-03-09Every time I come here they have what i need and the staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are right. And they have plenty of organic products. Ive also tried their juices that actually made in store and they are good. Green juice or the beet juice.. They also have a kitchen where you can buy food that is ready to be eaten so feel free to grab some food and eat it right outside the cahiers area. Will keep coming back.plenty of parking and also carts for adults as well as for kids.

2020-07-07This place has quality produce and meat. Check out their weekly flyer to get the best deals. While smaller than other grocery stores you can get all your basics here as well as items for speciality dietary restrictions. Also as has a great beer and wine selection.

2022-01-05The prices are absolutely ridiculous for such small portions! I suggest going to Trader Joes for similar products at lesser prices.

2022-01-06Were craving for some home made pizza so I will make it since I know how you made it. I just needed an ingredient and I went to this shop. I bought 1 package of active dry yeast, canola oil, all-purpose flour, 1/2 pound ground beef, 1 can of tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, 1 medium green pepper and shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese. I have sugar, salt and onion in my house so I didnt buy it. Luckily, I didnt wait long at the counter since there were only a few customers inside. Their service was great. I ask help from one of the staff and they will immediately help me in finding the ingredients that Im looking for. I highly recommend this place.

2021-11-08Basically a condensed, mini Whole Foods which I love. Small enough to run in and out quickly, although at high-volume times there can be a long line at checkout. Every time I come here they have what I need and the staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are right. And they have plenty of organic products and great sales. Will keep coming back.

2018-10-09This is probably my favorite grocery store in Illinois! It has a great family feel and you dont get lost like in other grocery stores. Friendly staff and a large selection of non gmo products along with amazing sales every Wednesday!
