This place was one that we were not quite sure about when researching it online. The aesthetic has an odd feel to it with menu items that look like they’re from an old concession stand, but boy we were glad we made the trip. The guys who work there are extremely nice and really seem to care about the customer and making sure they enjoy the food/experience.I got the “I’m fat” burger that they were promoting in July and I think the name was an adequate reference to the content of the sandwich. Very tasty. My wife got the classic cheeseburger and she loved it.The mozz logs are what you’ll come back for. They were about the size of twinkies. Loved them! They forgot some cheese sauce for our fries but when I went back, they cared so much! Normally someone would just slide a canister of cheese sauce across the counter, but you could tell that this guy was really frustrated with himself that he forgot it. They ended up giving us a complimentary cheesecake brownie for the insignificant mistake. More than generous gesture. Thanks guys!We will be back!
We just finished eating the maximus prime rib pizza with the thick crust, whiskey bbq wings and habanero garlic. Ill tell you right now that was the best pizza!! The flavors were perfect. The crust was delicious. The whiskey bbq sauce was spicy and sweet. The habanero garlic was good but I didnt get much of a spicy or garlic taste. Still a dang good wing. If you question the price for the wings, believe me theyre for sure jumbo and worth it. It packed a punch too. So you can trust the serving size on the menu. Hands down made our night!! Great job to the staff for being friendly, getting the food ready at a good time, making the food perfect, keeping the place clean and the info. Well see you soon!!
Terrible experience and undercooked food is the reason for a poor review. Our burgers were very undercooked (pink all over and the patty fell apart), fries were undercooked or overcooked and the pizza puff barely had sauce in it. On top of it, I called ahead and showed up an HOUR LATER to which I had to wait an extra 15 minutes.Im guessing since our order wasnt prepared, the cook rushed to get our order out to us. Because of this, all our food was undercooked. See all my pictures for my observations. We wont be visiting this place again.
Super casual location with delicious, mouth-watering, fresh comfort foods that most places can only pull off with frozen foods. Had the Wisconsin dairy burger and loved it. Husbands plate of potato wedges was easily two full potatoes! And I couldnt stop drinking the oreo cheesecake smoothie. Cant wait to come back with the kids and try more items!
This place is great. We ordered one of the 1 lb slices and some of the giant cheese sticks to share (there were two of us). We could not finish all of it. Good prices, great food and some of the friendliest people working there. We are definitely going to go back to Fratos!
This isnt going to be my normal style of review because the food isnt fully what prompted me to write this. The food is fantastic, but it also wasnt what actually stopped me dead in my tracks at 9pm to fill this out.I have had a lot of good experiences ordering from Fratos, usually through Doordash, and once or twice over the phone. I honestly shouldve been writing this review a lot sooner than I am; however, having them go above and beyond for me tonight sent it over the edge.I am a huge fan of the Prime Rib Pizza (probably because Im way too ritzy for my own budgets good) and every time I ordered it always came with the 1000 island sauce on the side in a cup. When served that way, its an amazing sauce to dip or dunk your pizza in depending on how much of the dressing you want on your pizza; however, tonight, it came on the pizza. Unfortunately, on the pizza, it was extremely overwhelming to the point it was almost inedible (at least to me who barely uses it). The reason this is staying a 5-star instead of lower is because of the response they had when i called. Yes, technically reading the description more closely now, it does say the pizza comes with the drizzle on it, and, Fratos would have 100% been in their right to stick to that; and I probably wouldnt have argued and just been of the belief of theyre not wrong; BUT, they did not do that. They immediately corrected the issue and went above and beyond for me, solidifying the positive opinions I already had of them in my head.I loved the food before this happened; but now I also truly appreciate the staff and the restaurant. Also, the giant cheese sticks are absolutely evil here. I actually pay a cheese tax whenever I order them and have to share with the house, thats how good they are.
Used to love the Ghost Pepper breaded wings. Got tired of complaining tho about getting 11 wings instead of 12 or small wings tossed in or getting all 12 small wings. Id say at least add more to make up the difference. They said they added 3 or 4 extra. Wasnt even close to the amount 12 JUMBO wings would be. Manager always rectified mistakes tho which is classy! But like i said i got tired of complaining. They started burning the batch of ghost pepper sauce on a routine basis and it was awful. Started making my own verison and would order wings not tossed and had to toss them at home in my own sauce. Used to love that ghost pepper sauce. Now i dont even bother with Fratos sadly because the wing price went from a $1.25 to a $1.40 a wing. Really? $17 for 12 kinda/sometimes jumbo wings? Cmon! Overall food is good but pricey. Some pizza is good but some is eeehhh.... ByE! PS......So the owner is lying. Mistakes happened all the time.......
Used to be good food. Dont know what happened. Probably wont go back. Got a bunch of food delivered that was terrible 2 weeks ago. Mozzarella sticks were great (but the marinara was a heavy pasty sauce). But, not much else was even good. The chicken strips were so burnt we couldnt eat them (we even tried tearing off the burnt breading). Burger was just average. Brisket sandwich wasnt even toasted so it was like trying to eat 2 soggy pieces of bread with brisket inside. Ended up taking soggy bread off and eating brisket on its own.Kinda sad, because they used to be quite good.
My review is only on the slices. They definitely tasted like they sat in a case for way longer than they should. The dough in the center was raw. The crust was good but that’s about it.In response to the owner this is the complaint. Yes it is possible for portions of a pizza to both be undercooked and overcooked(especially with it being so thick). Also if anything stays under a heat lamp it gets dried out. I was there yesterday at one ish and paid with a visa for two slices and a drink.
I wish I could give 10 stars! This place is amazing all around. Good food? Check. Good customer service? Check. Good prices? Check! Weve used them for catering 2 different events and everything was not only delicious, on time, and affordable, but its turned majority of our guests into fans as well.I also must say, the fact that they work with the local culinary students and let them shape the menu with some crazy (but delicious) creations is so good for the community. My recommendations: any pizza, any burgers, the Oreo milk shake, and the mozzarella sticks. I swear they are the biggest things Ive ever seen!
Driving through my hometown I decided to stop and get my friend and family, dinner to go. I now live about 30 minutes away . I ordered myself a gyro and asked for the Tzatziki sauce on the side . I spent 53.00 on dinner for all of us. We got home only to find they forgot my sauce for the gyro. In my opinion, the sauce is what really makes it a gyro . Otherwise it’s just some meat in a pita . Ok no big deal, I’ll just call and get this rectified. I called up and they offered me 2.00 credit to use at the restaurant. I explained I don’t live there and the credit doesn’t help me . She then offered a 5.00 credit at the restaurant. Again I explained that I don’t live out there and that doesn’t help me . I would like a refund to my credit card . I was told by the lady I spoke to and another kid that worked there they can’t do that . They then took my email and said they would try to have the owner contact me as I was asking. Two minutes later another kid calls and says he is the manager and was just busy when I called. I said I wanted a gyro with the sauce and it was missing . I said the same thing i told the others, “without the sauce it is just some meat and a pita. “ He went on to list off all that I ordered saying that was not all i had. Well, the other food were for my family and a friend , and the French fries I got had nothing to do with not having my main course complete. Truly, didn’t think it was all going to this way. It seemed pretty simple. The other food was very good . Everyone liked it . They were very nice when we were there ordering. The place was clean and all were wearing masks. All I wanted was my credit to be back on my card. To come back there to use a credit was only going to cost me more money . At a time when I’m a single mom, unemployed and trying to make ends meet and took a night to treat my family , this was disappointing. It seems very logical to me and fair to just give the credit back to my card. I am truly understanding that people are human and make mistakes. This stuff can happen. I just think a credit for the restaurant use only benefits the business not the customer . Especially when I live far from the location. Sad, I had loved this place as a kid and went for some nostalgia tonight to lift my spirits from another tough week on unemployment and I feel like no one cared even a little.
Phenomenal food. Mozzarella sticks are just awesome. Definitely look into their catering, too. I order for my work and people keep asking when theyre coming in next, plus their owner is super easy to work with and the cost is totally reasonable on a budget. Their pizza varieties are insane and every one so far has been delicious. They are my go to when I have company in town.
Had a friend bring me here and I was immediately impressed with the amount of variety here! I snagged the Cajun mozzarella sticks(jesus christ they are massive and delicious!), a slice of gyro pizza(also delicious) and the monthly burger for September which was a bbq rum burger that was absolutely amazing! The sweet and smoky flavors were perfect! Too bad it’s a new month and a new burger. Can’t wait to come back again even if just for the mozzarella sticks and pizza!
Burger was ok but very overpriced. They don’t have the prices on the menu wall. I paid $17+ for a burger and potatoe wedges. The wedges were good in flavor but the thicker ones were not fully cooked. Anyways maybe that just happened to me. I won’t comeback the price was way to high. Good luck Frato’s!
Forewarning, I am writing this review as a competitor to Fratos. I recently moved to the area and I was mailed coupons for restaurants all over town. Fratos sent me three feast worthy coupons. I had never heard of them before and if you havent heard if them, stop what you are doing and order one of their pizzas. Looking through their website, I came across many specials for any pizza lover. I ended up getting a pizza with buffalo sauce, pasta, bacon, and just about any other gameday flavors you can think of. I also ordered two appetizers. Delivery was 20 minutes ahead of schedule, the food was fantastic and their portion sizes are massive. My appetizers were as big as a slice of pizza, which was about 1 pound per slice. They delivered a weeks worth of a feast for a coupons worth of a price. The flavor had a nice balance and wasnt overpowering or lacking in any regard. The staff was incredibly polite too and made sure I was taken care of. Even though we are competitors, I would shake these guys hands and tell them they played a great game. I am blown away. Well done Fratos, thank you for the great meal.
Great menu options and always adding new and interesting combinations. This place was the first place in a while where I was actually impressed with the spice of their “inferno” sauce.Mozzarella stick “buns” for a burger? Intense and delicious.Would definitely recommend to those who are bored with the normal.
I can only talk about the pizza because that is all I have every gotten but holy smokes. I have never had a bad slice from here. Already a good deal and they have deal days for slices and whole pizzas. Brought some family and friends over the years and they have all loved it. Thanks for the tasty food!
There have been more pizza restaurants through this area than I can count. Some got taken down by a recession and others because, well, they just dont stand up.Ive never been to Fratos restaurant as Im lazy and I like delivery. However, I can say that the pizza always arrives within the window they said it would be there at, the drivers are always nice, and the pizza really is excellent. Its a sweeter sauce than normal and while I am not a big sweet fan, this is balanced nicely by the thin crust and top shelf ingredients. Ive tried one of their specials, the Ditka Sausage and it was very good. I have to admit, I usually order my default ingredients though. It took me years to make that combinations that I like and thats where I judge all pizzas, on even ground.Im not a big crust guy, hence the thin crust default but Fratos is strong enough to take a heavy ingredient load and not crumble to bits, and it adds itself nicely to the flavor palette.Im a fan. They run specials in the local news and also on-line.
Great food! Quick and friendly service. This is not your standard burger joint or a standard pizza joint! Its even better than a hamburger and pizza joint. They have a creative menu that makes them unique. For instance they have great wings with sauces from mild to hotter then any chain offers. The burgers are outstanding.
The food arrived cold, and the shake warm. The gyro meat was seriously under seasoned, the tzatziki sauce tasted like cucumber water, in fact, it was thin enough to drink, and the green olives were clearly out of a can... Plus, it was the smallest 1/2lb if meat Ive ever seen. The potato wedges were so thick they werent cooked through all the way. If Id been eating there, obviously not possible right now, Id have demanded my money back. I dont know how they could possibly make me change my mind, or recommend this fail pile to anyone. Avoid... Even if you have to eat at McDonalds
Multiple issues on our first visit here. Arrived and saw their menu of specialty pizzas, asked for a slice of something and was told, No. After a long pause, he added, We only have one slice of the day. I get it, but the guy taking orders had poor service skills. Someone in our party ordered the aged mac n cheese--didnt taste good. Had a weird, expired garlic flavor to it. Then we were waiting at least 15 minutes for a slice of sausage pizza. Our party member that ordered the slice finally went up to the counter after she saw the freshly made pizza on the counter and they said they didnt have any plates. I counted--there were ten people in the place at 7:30 pm. You really dont have ten plates in the place? We finally brought our own plate up that we used for something else so our party member could eat their pizza and the same stellar service guy slaps the pizza on her plate without saying a word. She tries to eat the pizza with the flimsy silverware and cant cut it. Do not come here if you can help it.
I can’t believe this place has any negative reviews! Given, I’m kind of a picky eater, so a lot of the eccentric menu items aren’t for me, but they are for my husband!!! The craziest I’ll get with my pizza, is an Italian Beef and Giardiniera pizza, and boy, they exceeded my expectations. It was definitely the MOST flavorful one I’ve ever had! However, if it isn’t the food, then I will say this, the customer service is out of this world. I’ve never had a pizza place call me the next day just to make sure all was well with our food that was delivered, and I must say, that really is a nice little touch. Everyone there is definitely the friendliest people I’ve ever met, and I am so happy to have found a small pizza/burger place that I know will always be a favorite in our household. So, Frato’s, thank you guys so much for everything you do. You will always have customers in the Figiel family!Oh, and FYI, if anyone likes gyros, my husband recommends the spicy gyro pizza!
2 slices of pizza and 5 homemade mozz sticks was my order . First of all the place used to be good when the owner was around that’s why I didn’t get it one star . I was charged 22 dollars for my order for starters . The cheese sticks were sitting cold when I walked in and the guy stuck them in the microwave for 10 seconds to try and heat them but still left the inside cold and flavor less. The two pizza slices were also cold and super doughy . This was an awful experience and wouldn’t recommend this place . There’s way to many good pizza joints in Schaumburg to consider this place again
Was there again tonight w the kids and as always - things were fantastic. Staff couldnt be nicer. Food is always great. The thin crust pizza has just the right amount of crispiness, pizza perfectly cooked. Cant wait to try the lasagna for an upcoming catering event. This place is always creating interesting burgers and pizzas to keep things interesting. Glad this establishment is a part of Schaumburg!!!! Keep up the good work!
What a great place! When we walked in, theres a huge menu with awesome pictures that started this culinary adventure. Pizza was the main item of choice and we were trying to decide which one to try, when something wonderful happened. Someone ordered an 18 inch, Spicy Gyro pizza for pick up, called back and cancelled due to the rain, but the pizza was already in the oven. The helpful staff member stated that if we chose that pizza, it would be discounted. Sign me up! We ordered 2 flavors of boneless wings that were cooked and sauced perfectly. Next, came the gorgeous, huge, Spicy Gyro pizza. The crust was amazing, the sauce was nice and thick, seasoned perfectly. Onions and tomatoes thinly sliced and the right amount. Gyro meat was seasoned well, but we could have used more. Browned blend of cheeses and then, the spicy giardiniera. If I had a complaint, it would be that there was too much giardiniera for our taste. Well definitely go back for pizza, but wed go smaller so that we can try one of their burgers and fries. Highly recommend!🙆♀️💜
Had a bad experience. I ordered a pizza puff with gyro meat and it was cold the fries sucked one was gray colored. Staff was friendly but one guy gave me a hard look when I left probably because I left my tray on the table but the reason I did was because I couldnt find a garbage. RC cola was good. Sucks because I had good memories of this place when I used to go on lunch break in high school years ago. It has changed or maybe my standards have been raised but I doubt Ill visit again.
I absolutely love the pizza….. this my first time here and I came ten minutes before closing so I order a slice of sausage pizza and whhhhew was I surprised super big slices and the quality of the cheese is stunning …… here’s the best part they even gave me an extra slice #nocobbs
Pictures on Facebook look much better than in real life. But thats about the same where ever you go these days. We ordered two different burgers and an order of wings. The bacon/burger mix was different, but would have preferred if they were cooked a bit longer. I dont mind red meat, but red meat with bacon just doesnt do it for me. The combination burgers we had were very tasty. I usually order buffalo seasoned wings, but was in the mood for something sweeter than spicy this night. They have honey glazed wings, so I figured Id give those a try. Turned out honey glazed is actually honey mustard. So why not call them honey mustard instead of glazed? Or at least tell your customers that order them that they are mustard flavored, not a sweet and sticky glaze. Im not a big honey mustard fan by the way. But didnt want to complain so I ate them. But the real reason why I think my wife and I will not visit this establishment again is because how the manager/chef treated the employees there. He could have been a bit nicer when speaking to his help. Was very pleasant when speaking to us, but a real a$$ when talking to his employees.
Place has a lot of Heart and Soul, Great Pizza, Unique Burgers, and soo much more!!Ive had the pleasure of visiting here over the past 6 years and they continue to innovate and push the envelope, but ultimately they are known for a 1 lb pizza slice, GIANT Mozzarella sticks, and my Go To is their Boneless Wings with some of the Best Tasting, Smokin Hot flavours that are Unique and Delicious. If you like Homemade Waffle fries done right, Try them!!!Nothing Fake, Totally Home made Quality at reasonable prices!!
Id originally gone to this place because of reviews showing a dog friendly table setup- however, when I arrived it was no longer available. The manager cashier was wonderful and apologetic- and comped out milkshakes; which were AMAZING btw. (espresso flavored!)Good food. Giant pizza. Great service.
Good food but the workers could use a speed and efficiency boost. During the time I waited way too long for a slice of pizza it appeared that the one worker preparing the food was only working on one thing at a time. Multitasking is your friend. Utilize it. Would probably be fine if you call your order in ahead of time but you may want to clear your schedule if you plan to stop in for a quick bite to eat.
This is a local favorite. I have come here for more than 15 years. Restaurant is clean and spacious. My personal favorites are the pizza puff, ghost pepper chicken wings, and the gyros. Well sized portions and they often have daily/weekly specials. Staff is generous and helpful. I will be back and will continue to come here whenever Im craving a nice gyro!
Catered Frato’s for my daughter’s first birthday party and they were amazing! The customer service was amazing…from the price of the food, to the quality, to even the delivery and set up; words are inadequate to convey how amazing everything was. There is no way that I could have successfully fed 80 people without them. Everyone raved about how awesome the food was (we got pizza and salad and mozzarella sticks) ESPECIALLY the mozzarella sticks. You not only found customers for life in us but I’m sure in many of our party attendees as well. Thank you to Frato’s for going above and beyond…I know that we will continue to utilize you for all of our catering needs and will refer others to you as well…and I can only hope that others reading this review will take a chance on you as well, whether it be for a quick meal or a large catering event, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed! I look forward to trying many more things on your menu!
**UPDATE**After leaving this review AND sending them an email (which is what they suggest to do) they basically told me that I’m “negatively punishing” the students and “punished good kids” by leaving my review. Excuse me? I completely understand that they are students and they are learning everyone has to start somewhere and everyone makes mistakes, but to send me an email saying I’m punishing kids by not reaching out (which I did) is ridiculous and doesn’t justify burning my pizza.Original postI heard a lot of great things about this place, unfortunately my experience wasn’t good.I would like to point out that the people that work there are very nice which is part of the reason why I’m even giving any stars. The food was also ready before the estimated time and was really hot so that’s a plus.I ordered a sausage pizza with jalapeños and mozzerella sticks. When I got home my boyfriend and I were really excited to try everything the pizza LOOKED great. However when we tasted it, it was terrible. The sauce was bland and the bottom of the pizza was burnt (it was literally black at the bottom) and had a burnt taste. Sausage wasn’t flavorful and the cheese sticks tasted like they were fried in old grease. I really wanted to like this place but everything just tasted so bad I won’t be ordering anything else from here. Hopefully others have a great experience but it’s a no for me. You can get better tasting pizza for cheaper elsewhere.
While this place will not meet your $5 price point budget, if you want that, go to Subway or some other fast-food joint. Fratos uses fresh, quality ingredients. I can taste the difference. Real food. One of the best Burgers I had. The sauces are extraordinarily tastily delicious. You know youre into a good burger when the juice is running down your arm. Also had Boneless Wings in Whiskey sauce. Good cut wings. Sauce was incredible. Would like to try the Pizza next time. Looked good on the menu. Also a cool vibe in the Restaurant. Nice decor, music was playing cool tunes, a 50s motiff. Anyhow, Thanks for the review. Catch you on the Flip-side. TJ
The place itself seems pretty cool; a few big TVs, a Wii for the kids, its clean, employees are pleasant and helpful.Only tried their pizza once, and didnt care for the sauce. Its not horrible, its simply unique and has a bit of a tang that just hit my tongue wrong.Their gyros though, oh my goodness, the small ones are huge, the meat has been great each time, and while I thought 7 bucks was kinda lofty at first, in my opinion, just for the portion alone, it was well worth it.I dont get over here very often, but when Im in the area, I always try to pop in and grab a gyro! Nummers!
Seriously the best cheese sticks. Almost a pizza dough under the breading which holds them together. And the dipping sauce? Yessss. Theyre catering our wedding with a taco bar and we did a tasting. This is not your average banquet food. Chef Andy is detail oriented and the food is delicious!
Oh my, the cheese sticks here! While they are among the most expensive Ive ever bought for carry-out (about $7.83 with tax included), they are DELICIOUS and worth the money. The other reviews are indeed correct: these are NOT the mediocre mozzarella sticks every other restaurant serves. They are like 2-3 times larger, full of cheese (versus empty air pockets) and Fratos is slick -- they add some MORE cheese by means of a light Parmesan cheese sprinkling. So yeah, I could eat these every day. Its cheese!
Previous orders have always been great, however tonight I tried the adult Mac and cheese and wings. The cheese/hot sauce was terrible, as was the hot sauce on the wings. Ended up throwing out both. Didnt bring a straw for my drink, although from other reviews Im lucky I got my drink. Only giving 3 stars because of the good food I have gotten on previous orders
I sent my friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go their often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are delicious and the team is very friendly and cooperative. Every time we eat in this place we enjoy a lovely time. I warmly recommend this restaurant.
So many pizza choices! The guys here know how to make them all taste great. Hand tossed (thick) and their thin crust pizzas are both great. And the selection of appetizers will make sure no one is left hungry.Dont forget to stop in for a quick slice, and watch their Facebook page for specials, including half-price slices.
We used their catering services for the first time for a memorial service and we will use them again in the future. Great care was taken to help us select menu items, including a taste testing with Chef Ed at the restaurant. The food arrived on time, it was presented nicely and our server was very pleasant and helpful. Good job and thank you!
Took my husband and father out to lunch here today and it was so expensive!! I ordered motz sticks, 2 slices of pizza, a flat bread, and gyro. The menu said a gyro cost 7.99 but my receipt says 11.98. I asked the guy at the counter and he said well you ordered the combo and I told him no I just ordered the gyro. He then said well its cheaper this way. I just walked away. My bill came to 50$. There were 4 groups who ordered after us and all those people were given their orders before we received ours. I then walked up to the counter again to ask where our food was and they said its coming out. The gyro was already made... the pizza were already made... I was waiting on flat bread and motz sticks? when we were in the middle of eating then they brought out the flat bread out.... so what were we waiting so long for????? Maybe something would have been better if the owner was their because this guy there didnt care at all about business. Some advice: Bad word of mouth spreads a lot quicker than a good one. Good Luck with your business!
For all the restaurants I’ve reviewed, I think Frato’s Culinary Kitchen is the most complicated. I’ve only gone here a handful of times, but there’s something very special and wholesome about this place.Ecletic is a simple way to put Frato’s. Google’s algorithim for describing restaurants calls it as much, but it’s more than superficial or limited to the decor. Experiencing Fratos is unlike many other restaurants you and I have tried. In a majority of my visits, when you come to Fratos, the seating area is empty, but the fellow employees are hard at work making food. It‘s like entering a funhouse at the carnival. There is an element of humility that Frato’s deserves. Their workers are comprised of culinary students, many of whom hail from community or junior colleges. The in-store radio has humorous announcements recorded by the Frato’s staff.Accompanying the decor and multi-TV layout are games like checkers and jenga. They take up a good portion of space on the desks; I’d imagine you would need to move them if you would want to sit a small group here. But this is saying nothing of the Fratio’s food, so without further delay, let’s dig in.Ordering food at Frato’s is like ordering at three different restaurants in one. Being a culinary school, having many choices of dish is precisely the point. That means having everything from just a salad to a hot dog and a drink, to bacon hamburgers and mozzerella rolls, and also to pizza and lemonade. They also sport a variety of sauces to put on your dish, in a display found in the corner of the restaurant. The store is more than dine-in/carry-out, too. They also do catering and delivery for orders, and frequently have deals on pizza many days out of the week.At Frato’s, food portions get hit with a growth ray. There are few places where I can say you get more than what you pay for, but Frato’s is definitely one of them. This can be a good thing and a bad thing, especially since the “Little Hamburger” (pictured) pales in stature compared to so many giant wedge fries. It was nonetheless delicious, with the edge of the bun toasted ever-so-slightly to make the textures stand out.For more traditionally sized eats, such as the Vienna Beef hotdog, I’ve found the tater tots a better fit. The shakes are delicious, and served quite thick. Frato’s is also one of the few restaurants that has neither a Coke or Pepsi soda machine; they use RC products for their fountain. With that being the case, one can try the rather obscure flavors of Nehi Root Beer, St. Paddy’s Lime Soda (a drink with a similar flavor to Green River), Mystic Raspberry Iced Tea, and more.Frato’s isn’t without its flaws. The price to make a combo meal is quite high (charging four dollars or more to add fries and a drink is not a deal) and that can double the total of some orders. The unconventionally arranged dining spaces and frequent vacancy of it can be off-putting to some. However, with a varied customer base (who may be at home ordering delivery, ordering catering at events, and dining in-store) it’s not at all a bad thing to focus on the ingredients over the furniture.Frato’s is a unique restaurant, offering on-the-job training for its students and some incredible eats for the rest of us. If you haven’t dined here on an empty stomach, be sure to do so, and you’ll know by your first visit when to come back.
A+++ Service & Food! Their pizza is AMAZING! WOW!!! I got a phone call a few hours after I had ordered from the manager checking to see how my food was. I could not be more pleased with the food and the care of the management. They have EARNED my business as well as all of my company business orders from this day forward. More companies should strive to be like this! THANK YOU!!!
This site is my first choice site. Of all restaurants I know I prefere it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this restaurant. everytime I want to go to a decent meal, this place comes straight to my mind. splendid and all sorts of food and a rich cuisine.professional staff members, and nice ambience. Also important, the cost is modest. I praise this spot with no doubt.
Their double cheeseburger is a piece of art...It tastes delicious...I haven’t tried their pizza but it looks great...The employees are really friendly and nice...I have really enjoyed their food...You should definitely give it a try...My next mission is to try their triple cheeseburger. Thanks Frato’s for the great experience!
Wings lovers, Fratos is for you. My friends and I have tried the wings from all the popular chain restaurants and most other area restaurants. The wings are fresh made, big, and their flavors are unique. We tried the bonless inferno mustard, Ghost BBQ, Chipotle, and Habanero Garlic. All amazing, inferno are hot though! I think the chipotle was our favorite, but they were all fantastic.
Fratos is under new ownership, so one should be careful with any review pre-dating July 2012. I say this as someone who ate at Fratos before and after and the difference is indeed staggering. The food now is well made, with interesting flourishes if you want to try a burger with say home made ginger cucumber pickles or traditional if you want a regular hot dog. The pizza is great - most places fail in the crust, Fratos does not, and the toppings are fresh and generously spread.Living in Schaumburg, there are few independent places worthy of your dollar....Im glad to have another one.
Half the stuff on the display menues dont exist. It was very very expensive. However, the portions were large. It was some what confusing as to if we were supposed to seat our selves or not. Menues and direction were not received until we were already walking around for a good five minutes looking at the wall menue, which again, most of those items no longer existed.
Aftet ordering from their less than friendly staff, Fratos double charged us for cheese fries and then didnt bother to include them in our order. When we called to inform them of this they tried to lie about what the local tax rates were. Apparently after considering the situation they called back and let us know we could get a free cheese fry if we stopped in. The same one we already paid twice for...thanks but you jerks obviously need the $3, keep your fries.
Our food was cold, and they gave me the wrong sandwich. There was no one else inside, so you would think we would have had there cull attention. The young man making our lunch even asked how was the food. We told him cold and wrong, he didnt even try to correct it . S

2021-11-01Got some food for pickup so photo is on my desk. Was actually pretty surprised how good the veggie burger is, Id honestly say its the best in the area. Texture was good, not too dry or wet, but the bottom bun did seem a little flimsy. Wedge fries are quite tasty, and there were many delicious extra crispy ones in the bag. Picking up was quick and easy, and I plan to return to give that goat cheese pizza a try

2022-05-05Its getting way to expensive to eat here!! Ive been coming here for the last ten years. It was better when Chef Ed was still here (RIP). I understand inflation, increasing food prices, the pandemic, a livable wage, and so forth. The food is good though. I do think that it is going downhill a little bit. The staff is nice also. I think that they need to revamp their menu. Like getting rid of the brisket and other high cost foods. That could be a way to bring their menu prices down for us, the consumer. I understand of being a scratch kitchen and doing unique things with the menu. That the cost would be a little more than surrounding restaurants. I bet that the owner is going to reply with some sort of belligerent comments.

2021-09-229/2021 Tried it again. 5 stars. Pizza is really good. Staff is good too. I am not as big a fan of the Buffalo Mozzarella cheese on the pizza. I would prefer it without it. But in general it is all good.7/2021 Gave it 3 stars. Could be a 3.5 maybe. First time here. I had troubles ordering the Thursday special for BOGO Chicken tenders online. So they took care of me over the phone. Thank you! Great service. The staff was great on the phone and super friendly and nice in person. They were a joy to meet.Food was not as good though as I expected. Got a slice of 1# pizza. WOW. It really was a full pound I think. Looks amazing! In general I loved it. For my personal taste though, it tasted like it had parmesan cheese on it. I am not a fan of parmesan. It all tasted good though, and I would recommend it to other. For me, no parm would be better though.I also got the BOGO Sweet BBQ Chicken tenders. I should have stuck to the Buttermilk tenders. Wish I had tried those maybe. The pictures show how yummy they look. They look amazing! I did not care for the taste. So much so that I actually did not eat the second ones. It took me two days to eat the first order. And I could not stomach the thought of the second batch, so I threw them out. Glad they were free! Chicken was good, but I did not like the outside. If I ever get back there, I may try the regular ones instead.

You can’t pass up their amazing and giant Mozzarella sticks, they are the best I’ve ever had by far! And I’ve had a lot! This business also has a stand-out satisfaction guarantee and they always go above & beyond to cook up the best food!

2022-04-23This was our first time ordering from Fratos. The mozzarella logs are absolutely delicious. However the pizza we did not like at all. Personally I did not like the sauce or sausage that is put on the pizza. We will give Fratos another chance and go there for something else, just not the pizza.

2022-05-30My husband and I chose Fratos to cater our backyard wedding. Chef Andy was our personal chef/coordinator who oversaw the entire process. We are so happy with the service!!! We opted to do a taco bar for dinner with a guacamole and salsa appetizer station for the cocktail hour. This was hands down some of the BEST TASTING guacamole and tacos weve ever eaten (and I grew up around authentic Mexican cuisine so thats saying something). The flavor in the cilantro rice was also incredible. And dont get me started on the homemade cheesecake brownies! Honestly, there wasnt a single item on the menu we didnt find absolutely delicious. But its not just about how good the food tasted, its the amazing service Chef Andy and his team provided throughout the whole experience. From the moment we called to inquire about their catering options to the tasting he arranged for us (even throwing in a complimentary order of their famous mozzarella sticks because we mentioned reading about them). Chef Andy takes such pride in his craft. Its not a job for him, its clearly a passion and art. He genuinely wants to create a memorable and amazing experience for his clients and is always seeking to improve his craft. He called us the day after our wedding to see how everyone liked the food and encouraged us to give constructive feedback if needed. Well sorry to disappoint you, Chef Andy, but I cant think of a single thing that wasnt perfect in our eyes! ☺️ We loved EVERYTHING. And we are so grateful for your patience and flexibility throughout the process (ESPECIALLY when our venue changed 3 weeks out from our wedding to a considerably farther location). You still showed up on time and our food remained warm through the cocktail hour and dinner.Thank you for all your hard work and effort, Chef Andy. We will DEFINITELY be using your services again and recommending you to EVERYONE!!! Fratos is the best because they employ those with a true passion for their work. You will not be disappointed!

2022-06-20The RC Cola dispenser was suspicious, but for the value and the way my root beer float was handled was suspicious enough...I ordered a root beer float with mozzarella sticks. There seemed to be a miscommunication in the kitchen who thought my friend took the drink for the float (I don’t know how because they were making it), so they handed me a cup with barely any liquid while holding the ice cream hostage for a moment suspiciously to tell me to fill the cup up at the dispenser.I paid like $6+ for a cup of partially melted ice cream and soda from the free refill dispenser. At least the mozzarella sticks did not make me laugh and leave with filled with contempt. My friend reported his wings were fairly overpriced for the value and the Mac and cheese was alright. The root beer floats though? I’m still offended weeks later...

2022-05-22Got a order of a burger w/ fries and their signature mozzarella sticks to try. $20 for the burger w/ fries was very overpriced and about 3/4 of the size of Kumons. Kumon also tasted better. The mozzarella sticks came with 3 of them, 2 of them are overcook and popped, so theres no cheese inside. Anyway, the sticks are very average with very thick breading. Needless to say, will not be back. This place is overrated and overpriced.
