We lived it up at the recreation center external the retail outlet. The music added to the charm of this area. I prescribe that you go to the recreation center in the evening. The shopping center itself is huge, and everybody will actually want to track down an appropriate shop or feasting foundation. The solitary issue is that it is hard to situate in this shopping center because of the various exits and doorways. We were by and large satisfied with our shopping experience.
Ford City must be going thru update changes because some store fronts are not full, need McDonald or Burger King and another fast food in the food court plus the site where Carsons used to beNeeds a business in there and just in general, hopefully more business come thru in thereOtherwise its still alright mall
So today I went back to an old Mall I havent been to in some years. Most of the shops youre familiar with are most likely not there The small looks like its on its last lakes though I will say this they have done a lot better than them 10 years ago.Security was all over the place so it looks like theres a little bit more control of the mall. What I found unique I guess because a lot of people dont go here anymore Its the perfect place to find something youre looking for.I recommend checking it out before this place eventually closes
I’m rating it 3 only just because as a Store Owner, I know So much about this Mall and Lots of Stores Closed down, As bad as it was as better it’s becoming, there is Victoria Secret/ Pink, Champs, Foot Locker, Rainbow, JCPenney, The Shop, Mobile Store, Sarah’s Accessories, Charlotte Russe, Mom Dad and Me, Nail Salon as well, So Many Store’s I still did not Name BUT, it’s Catching up, Hope this Helps 😊
The mall has a new owner and its starting to shape up really nicely. Once the construction is done, stores open completely and they fill the empty store fronts, this mall will once again bustle with foot traffic and happy times. Covid19 has hindered the progress of making this a wonderful shopping hub.
I grew up here. It has changed as all things do but this place has been unfairly abandoned by investors and stores. The location is great and full of opportunity! Great for family and friends with plenty of shops! The food court is awesome and unique. If things were updated and expanded then I believe more people would go! There are still plenty of shops!
I had to edit my review this mall is actually getting nicer and nicer they been remodeling it a lot and adding a bunch of new stores. I was actually surprised at how much traffic was in the mall when I last visited there. And they seem to have better deals and sales than the other malls. They have security always walking around making sure the mall is safe. They also added a bouncy house for the kids right by the food court ! This mall still has work to do BUT it is making progress! 👍
I have not been to the movies in many years. I was pleasantly surprised with the new style reclining seats. They made the viewing experience most enjoyable. I thought Id go to sleep. I didnt. I went to watch two movies. First was Gemini Man. Awesome! The second was Harriet. Also, awesome. A friend and I went. The total cost $125.48. Well worth it. While there, we each signed up for the discount movie deal. I will be going back!
The girl on the register told me no exchanges, the crazy part is how are you going to say that when people not allowed to try on nothing??? So Im suppose to just take a $64 lose!? I dont think so. The good part was the Chinese owner came out and exchanged them with no problem
Revamped and BEAUTIFUL! They had superheroes running around and taking pics w kids for free the last time I went. I appreciate this mall more than ever after being a regular for 33 years. Music cleanliness carpeted. Why its in the middle of this city is beyond me lol but none the less I appreciate it.
This mall is actually making a decent comeback after years of losing business and anchor stores. Its a little depressing that the mall is typically empty, even during the weekends. I think theyre doing a great job at bringing in more upscale stores like Bath and Body Works and H&M. I think one thing the mall can improve on is its advertising of what stores are found within the mall. I know a lot of people that had no clue that the stores I mentioned are actually located within the mall.
Nice mall , needs more shops. Sad to see it not busy but with the new management its doomed. This is what people do when they want to gang bang and scare away customers and than they leave and now its dead. But i prefer this mall over Chicago Ridge. If they had more shops it be great.
This mall is disgusting. It was our first and last time here and we were here 1 whole hour before we left. We went to three different bathrooms and they all smelled awful and were unclean. At first we were liking it but then the smell was just intolerable. The jcpenney here is very nice and bigger than others in the Chicagoland area and also very well stocked.
Very nice ppl folks to work with check out cashiers very courtesy to customers very clean clutter free very quiet to shop at relaxing Needs to Repave there Parking lot with concrete or asphalt to better looks of Mall over by jcpenny side of mall and in front of there Mall is coming up IMPROVEMENT BUSINESS outdoor mall needs to improve gratitude to customers more make feel more welcome to come back
I placed one star each for the Victorias Secret and H&M. This mall is coming along, but it still has a LONG way to go. I recommend that management gut out this place with modern renovations- your competition, Chicago Ridge, isnt too far away in distance. Come on, you guys. Im positive that if this place is able to be more visually appealing + contain popular stores, they will see a rise in business. As for now- this place is a sad case; dated and a cry for help. You attract what you display.
I went to Jcpenny for a foam mattress and I did notice that the customer service is not what it used to be. I needed assistance locating the item I was looking for. The one employee that did assist only pointed to section where i could find the mattress. I went back to ask if they had a specific size mattress I was looking for and she steered me to cashier for look up; cashier then told her she was off in five minutes and then walked off floor. The employee that did assist somewhat stated if it is not on shelf we are out. Im not sure if I would go back to this location. I was disappointed with the service. While shopping for a coat I had the same experience with no assistance which was on the same day. Sunday the 17th of November
Havent been to my local mall in years. On a weekday mom and I felt safe dress shopping at JcPenney & Carsons & enjoyed the new updated interior with new carpet/wood floor combo & couch areas like upscale malls. Clean working fountain. It was a nice experience. Across the street is Dollar Tree and a $1+ Accessories store that is fun to browse.
I dont know where to start about this mall. I moved here from Brooklyn recently and I dont know absolutely anything about Chicago. Found a bouncy house in this mall. From the moment we parked the car, to walking in and looking at the stores. We wanted to leave before we even got to the bouncy house. I come from a nice diverse neighborhood in Brooklyn and this place is absolutely runned down. I had people staring at me from head to toe because I obviously was in the wrong neck of the woods. Dont let my look fool you, Im very well dressed and brand named everything. But I will slap someone if I need to. People not welcoming at all. About 5 stores open. No brands besides H&M. More boutique style. Never ever again in my life. Stay away. Unless u looking to fight someone then go to this mall (not even a mall) more security guards than there is people
Trash.Safe haven for ghetto patrons. Please consider the crowd your stores attract along with the people they employ when agreeing to leasing spaces. Also please tip that god awful carpet off the floor and pave the parking lot atleast once this decade or start selling off some of the land so someone else can do it.
Young crowd of people have taken over this mail, I used to love going there, the last two times I went security was chasing some young kids that was that did something in the mail. I feel like you have to look over your shoulders now. I only go when I have to, when they first open up. I used to love that mall.
This mall takes me back to my childhood. Its nice how they are remodeling, it was about time. Many people left the mall because many stores closed down and they really dont have many popular stores, but with new stores coming in lets hope Ford city becomes the mall it once was back in the days.... Its an average mall. Nothing flashy or special about it. Its average.
Everyone is so friendly! Visited famous footwear, got some vans for a steal and the saleslady was giving all sorts of coupons. Then went to IHOP for a late bite. Our waitress was a complete joy, and the food was great. Definitely one of the nicer IHOPs Ive been to. I will return.
This was once a great Mall for shopping. Has changed since the 1990s. A few stores left to shop at. Bad activity forced most stores to leave. But I do not frequent this location often once out of the year. If you are looking for hard to find items go for it. Be safe though.
Experience was full of wonder! Holiday decorations were on point! Was a bit turned around somewhat. New stores open old stores gone. Like the the fact that security was walking around; felt safe. Also maintenance personel were doing great job. But the mens restroom could reall have been better.
I used to love this mall until they made it so that teenagers cant wander around the mall without an adult. That is how they are losing business because all I see there is teenagers but now the place is empty there isnt that many people there anymore never crowded, But that can be a good thing too because you can always find the thing were looking for.
This place has gone downhill. Im not sure how its even still open! Half of the mall is empty. Most of the open stores are sandwiched between closed ones. The neighborhood and people who come to this mall are probably to blame. The IHOP and McDonalds that were inside this mall closed up and moved out of it. The only thing this mall is good for would be shoes. Theres probably like 10 different places to could find shoes at (Foot Lockers, Champs, Jimmy Jazz, etc.)
I remember this was the place to go. But not no more. Maybe there are not many store to select from because there rent is too high. I would visit more if there was ready stores there and not so many knock off places. Just sad...... Can use a lesson from Orland Mall or Chicago Ridge
Bleak, but clean. Nice atrium in center. Several empty stores. Strong security guard presence due to past gang fights, shooting in parking lot and customer caused garbage and vandalism. It is now a slightly more pleasant shopping experience because it feels safer than it used to.
Its remodeled looks amazing but the variety of stores is limited and still spaces available, but did noticed more security and thankful they make these kids pull up there pants. I hate seeing this stupid trend! cant cant wait for h&m to open, and see what new stores fill this mall thats closer to my location. So l can say so long northriver side mall lol
Its a Mall... On the Southwest Side... That used to be its heyday a busy place... Now seems to be just a place to go.Love the AMC theater, however. But, hell even the theater didnt want to wants to be connected ;)I can see the physical Mall closing and the open air Mall in its place... Like Evergreen Wisely did. No body wants to be enclosed in a space anymore.
I havent been to the movies in a long time. The movie going experience has really changed and its almost perfect. They have power reclining seats and there is a lot of space between seats. Free drink refills and they have a bar. The concession stand is kind of slow bc everything seems made to order(this is a good thing ppl), just get there 45 minutes early and order you tickets online. They could do a better job cleaning after movies, but what can one expect from minimum wage under aged workers?
Although Ive been a long time fan since I grew up in the area, let me assure you that there is nothing you cant find in this small. One of the 1st things you have to understand about Ford City and what makes it different is that the mall isnt just whats directly connected to the primary building, Ford City licenses out its own parking lot because it has a lot of it for other companies to put their Place of business on usually from scratch. Its gone from me as a child running around this place as far back as 97 to 2020 I can tell you right now that they have had at least 30 show up, grow up, and blow up, or go out of business trying.Everything from shoe stores, mattress sellers, and chipotle have been in this insane almost 2 to 3 mile stretch of area that utilizes above ground and underground facilities, the only thing that I can truly consider lacking is the food court however Given the fact that it has direct competition within the parking lot as well as the giant connected Ihop within the main building.PLUS traditional fast food places and Pan-Asian buffet across the street, its easy to see why most companies may shy away from the food warzone of the area.Even hotels are simple 1 to 2 block walk away from this area. That being said I will addressed the neglected elephant in the Room, of what type of stores are on the inside of the main building, Im not going to lie its very cliche and almost to a depressing point but you have to factor in that Ford City is not just that building which is why the inside can be somewhat subpar.Generally speaking the primary stores inside are jewelry stores, shoe stores, urban design clothing stores, another shoe store, absolutely no video game based entertainment locations but again to be fair Best Buy is literally across the street from the entire compound.I will give kudos on making sure that its in house movie theater is located in a separate building, you have no idea how annoying it is to have to go to a movie theater and its hypothetically next to a food court or near a major entrance or place with foot traffic and here outside noise. They even have electric vehicle parking which is at least in Chicago the difference between being up to standard and being left in the dust, mind you theres not many but theres not a lot of EV in this area either currently. In short whether its a family outing or friends visiting from out of town especially since the airport is less than 2 miles away, there is literally something for everyone not so much in them all but in the malls compound which Im still not sure is the correct term for the area.FoodMoviesChild Play areaCell phone shopsAll the classics are near but the scale is a rarity.
I havent been in a couple of years. The Bad element seems to be gone. Security is greatly increased. Overall, Mall is cleaner & neater, with wall to wall carpeting. But theres less restaurants in the Food Court. & most of the stores inside the mall seem to be speciality clothing stores. Dept. Stores like J.C. Penny & Carson still around. But most practical stores outside the mall.
There are barely any store in this mall period. Upon leaving the mall I allowed my sixteen year old (a permit driver) to circle around a empty section of the parking lot. We were then approach by a white security officer that told us that we had to hurry up and leave the mall area. I havent been taking my business to this mall but its definitely the last time they will ever see me.
Overall, I like visiting Ford City Mall. Its really not a one stop shop type of mall, where its loud and overcrowded, but an enjoyable experience. Especially on a nice not too hot day. Enjoy food at one of the (good) restaurants, coffee (Ebar, Cest Bon), chocolate( Godiva) or soft serve (yogurberry), and shop til you drop (not really).
Its a mall that used to have an Old Country Buffet, a Carsons, a GameStop, and a Sears in the early 2000s. There even used to be a carousel across where Carsons used to be. Fast forward to now, its mostly vacant and a lot of shops had closed, and you dont see a lot of people shopping there. There used to be an underground part of the mall called The Connection that had small stores and the path lead to where Sears used to be until it closed in 2010. They should consider opening new restaurants to attract more customers.
Definitely one of my fav malls. Been going here every since I was a kid. Love this place! Despite it being so ghetto, I have alot of great memories and this place has a variety of great stores. Food court always has what you need. Chinese, McDonalds, Steak shop, Mexican & Italian food, pizza etc. Love this place forever!
I know this mall has gotten a bad reputation for the type of crowd that it has, but it seems they are really turning things around. After going to that mall all of my life, I have never witnessed an incident. As far as shopping, I feel that the options are much more diverse than malls such a Chicago ridge. For one thing, Ford City actually has a Sephora and Avon to buy makeup! It is continuously remodeling to add new stores.
This mall has been here for a long time, and has changed alot over the years. It is not very crowded, and the mall seems to be in constant transition, with stores moving or closing. It does seem to keep a wide variety of stores from classics like Carsons and JCPennys to the slightly unusual, like a full service furniture store.
This mall use to be the place back in the 90s. Now its barely any store in there. Its always some kind of incident going on there. Mostly dealing with teenagers like fights or robberies. I go there now if I went to other malls and they didnt have what I was looking for. Ford City is more of a last option.
I remember being here With family there used to be a arcade and GameStop but when it closed I really din’t wan’t to go but later they close sears and we never saw it ever again but a few days ago I wen’t and it look like a ghost town silent no talking it gave you weird feel in you spine I got to get out of here the only thing I bought clothes because they have a h.m so it was 4:20 I heard it gets flooded with criminals so I hurry up and got to car fast I ran and then I drove back home I know this is about be abandoned but i think it should
This mall has really changed. I remember coming here as a kid only to come back a car that was all keyed up in the parking lot. This mall had a very bad name for a long time but i see it’s really turned around. It has all your stores of an average mall.. the mall seems very dated compared to other malls but all the current stores. Overall a good experience

2021-11-20I was sad and disappointed at this place. I have not been here since ten years ago. The atmosphere and the mall was different.I saw that the place was not exciting that it use to be. Many of the stores are gone like the gamestop, the Italian suit place, Champs and many other stores are gone. The people were not to excited to be there and it was less people at the mall then what it use to be.The mall was different of its design now then in the past. The bus stops are not in front of the entrance like it was in the past. When one enter in mall the food court there. I saw the lightning were dim not all the light bulbs in the mall are replaced with new ones. The mall does have more seats for people to sit down now. The mall does not have a basement for stores anymore its blocked off now.My experience here was sad and a disappointment here. I could not give this location a 5 or even a 4 rating. I hope for the future that management will bring back the excitement this place once had because this place is fading away.

2022-06-23This mall has seen better days.Ive been going to Ford City Mall since I was little, but due to online shopping and the impact of Covid 19 shutting down/ Closing many Stores and restaurants, Ford City Mall is looking like its standing on its last leg. However, if you enjoy semi looking abandoned malls with creepy imagery some of the stores will give you that feeling. But even though Ford City is looking out of commission theres still many greats places to have a outing with friends and family, like the AMC movie theater, and many other stores and restaurants found around Ford City area.I do have faith that this mall can once again be the main place for people to shop, eat, relax and hangout.

2022-06-13The mall has fallen off over the years. Its not as well maintained as it used to be. The satellite stores around it are coming up though. Really good restaurant choices!

2022-01-27This is an excellent amazing mall. You all need to understand we are in the new age now where new technology is improving everyday and times are changing. More people are losing interest in malls and want to do other things, only shop and grab something to eat then proceed onto the next mission. Just be glad this mall is still standing and the nostalgia is here because the same people saying its not like how it used to be will be the very same people that will be crying in real tears when they announce the mall is closingHopefully it stays for years to come. Thank you Ford city Mall ✅

2022-04-03I visited the mall prior to catching a flight back to BWI. I noticed that a lot of malls arent busy as they use to b since the pandemic occurred. I came across a store called, Selfish. Great customer service and the employees were nice! I saw some items I would consider purchasing. If I ever come back to my hometown anytime soon. I will stop by to support this store. The only reason why I gave the mall 3 stars is because its not generating a lot of business but then again I visited on a Friday afternoon.

2022-02-27Worst customer service ever! They don’t know how to talk and respect their customers. They only care about taking care of multiple customers fast so that they can earn money. They messed up my eyebrows and the girl refused to fix it because people were waiting and they started talking so rude.I hope people can soon realize that they don’t give good service they just want money.

2022-02-27AMC was great! Spiderman movie is amazing! Although the bathrooms suck! No working sink to was your hands, only the soap dispenser works. Also, the bathrooms dont have a baby diaper change handle. I had to change my daughters wet diaper on the cold floor! 🐍🕷

2022-05-01How is that mall still in business? Its dead in there. No stores to shop. The only store is JCPenney. The food court is dry. No restaurants. The steak house restaurant prices are so expensive. This mall should be closed permanently.
