Elm St is ok. You get a plate of chow you can eat thats decent size, but. The but depends on what you order. Mashed potatoes are not real, theyre instant but for some reason yellowish not white... And i dont mean buttery. Broccoli and most any cooked veggie is easy okay cooked and entering into mushville. The poiny/horseshoe are overcooked, served on slices of bread not a hoagie roll, smothered, drowning, flooded with canned cheese sauce; the French fries are standard nothing special. Grilled cod is small portions despite being described by the wait staff as really big and overcooked too, but not quite rubbery. Deep fried would have been a better cooking method. Long wait time from order to presentation. For $30 for two with a couple sodas its not quite what it should have been. Yet we return every so often for lunch. Convenience I guess
I have been going to Elm Street Café for years. They have great coffee and excellent food. The atmosphere is like a small mom and pop restaurant. The owners are very nice and friendly and love getting to know their customers. I have taken friends and family there for their first time and they always leave haopy and want to go. Back again. The Employees are nice and friendly and always making sure your happy and coffee full.
We came in with 3 adults, 3 teens, a 7 year old, a 3 year old and a baby not long before closing (we didnt realize it had gotten so late) and the service was excellent the food was quick hot and delicious and youd have never guessed we were keeping them! Been a family favorite for years and Im glad i went back with my own family tonight!
As I was driving through town we stopped at this café to eat some breakfast. Very nice on the outside very nice on the inside. But when we got up to pay they said they do not except cards and they had an ATM right there to pull money out 🤨 I took time to look at both doors that lead in and out of the restaurant to make sure that there was no signs that read “do not accept cards at this time” (There Was None) then I looked at the register and only saw half of what supposedly said we do not accept cards at this time. It was covered up by a welcome sign and a bottle of hand sanitizer, it wasn’t very professional 🤦🏻♀️ Talk about inconvenience having to leave a restaurant to go to a bank to pull out money.. with a fee!! If only they had it posted at the door as we walked in… It would’ve saved me a whole lotta trouble from the beginning by turning around and going to another that didn’t need all these extra steps!!
The atmosphere is very pleasant. The staff are nice and very responsive. The menu is surprisingly large. Normally when I see a restaurant that has a large menu they tend to do a few things well and other things suffer. This doesnt seem to be the case here. My whole family enjoyed the food.
Friendly folks but the food was just okay. Both times I ordered the ribeye. The first time I ordered it medium well and it came out extremely, overly well done. This time I ordered it medium and it was cooked okay but didnt have much flavor at all. Also they dont have real butter. What they do have is a spread that is 85% vegetable oil. Over all it is not a bad place but not a great place.
If I could rate it higher I would. It is a great place and always have been. I grew up coming here every so often and now I still do. The workers treat you wonderful the food is always awesome. They really try to get to know you for every time you come in. I love how if feels like your eating at home and taste like home cooked food.
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. They have a large and varied assortment of daily specials to accompany their regular menu that ranges from seafood to chicken, beef, pork, pasta, and various comfort foods. The portions are large and the wait staff is prompt and courteous and they dont just take your order and then forget about you. They are attentive and check in with you to see if you need anything. The prices are very reasonable. I had a talapia dinner with two sides and coffee for around nine dollars.
Came for breakfast with my daughter. We ordered. It took a long time for our food to arrive. Mine was cold when it came to the table. I asked them to warm it up. During the time they were “reheating” my food my daughter had finished hers. When they brought the food back to the table it was still tepid and the eggs were rubber. I decided not to eat it. Thankfully the waitress to my food off the bill but I would sooner have had a hot breakfast.
As always the servers were very nice and answered our questions about the specials of the day. I always get the veggie omelete with wheat toast and grape jelly. I usually dont have to tell them what I want to eat they already know. The food is good and hot and the price is always right. The restaurant is really bright and cheerful. Good place to eat.
Let me see. We ordered haystack onion rings, and they were in huge clumps, not even cooked. We sent them back, and then not even a minute later we got them back, without the big clumps, freezing cold. The waiter flat out lied to us, telling us that they were fresh made. I think not. If they were fresh made they would be actually warm. The manager then bothered us, arguing with us while we tried to enjoy the rest of our meal. The waiter completely ditched us. I wouldnt recommend this place to my dog. Will never come back.
Terrible service. Absurd waitress in there. Shes an older lady who was very very rude towards me and my fiance. If you plan on wanting good service DONT go here! If I could give no stars I would. When I tried to explain my issues and give them a second chance, the waitress ignored me and said bye before I decided to walk out! RUDE
As I ate I witnessed the owner put a young waitress in dears multiple times. The outside of her eyes were red and she had an occasional tear running down her face. No matter how bad an employee messes up no superior should ever put them in tears. Especially in front of customers! This place has lost my business for the rest of my life. I have to give a rating so they get a star but if i could that owner would get no stars from me.
Great place to catch a quick meal. Breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner options galore. Casual atmosphere, friendly waitresses and reasonable prices make Elm St Cafe in Canton a great place to eat. Plentiful helpings of food in a down home style setting makes this a great place eat.
Bring cash, they claimed their card machine was broke, but yet had no stickers indicating what cards they did take, so Im thinking they dont take any, really my only complaint with the place, no warning that its cash/check only. Otherwise good food, good service and reasonably priced.

2022-02-26We have eaten here a few times now and the food is always delicious. The food is always fresh and hot. The service is okay, sometimes when they are busy we wont see our server again the rest of time. I understand being busy but you should always check on your current customers along with the new ones.

We just had a newborn and didnt have time to make a meal this morning after being so exhausted. My fiancé called this order in and it was ready in under 20 minutes when he went to pick it up! We highly recommend Elm Street Cafe and thank them for the amazing breakfast!!! Hats off to the chef!

2021-06-02A true bit of Americana; the hometown cafe. Extensive menu of mostly comfort foods. We try to find local eateries and avoid the chains when we travel. Elm Street Cafe met our goal. Good food, generous portions at reasonable prices

2021-11-28Great food and great atmosphere. Lots of updates done to the building! Menus were in rough shape and depending on your waitress you may be waiting for drinks and refills. Other than that, fantastic place!!

2021-09-28We just relocated from WA State and stumbled upon Elm St Cafe by accident. We were FLOORED at how good the food was and how low the prices were. I ordered a skillet with a poached egg and it was almost a replica of my favorite breakfast from my favorite restaurant back home. We will definitely come back. My only request? Sourdough bread, please. Thank you all for making our first (of many) breakfast experiences with YOU, so special. You have an amazing team and wonderful food.

2021-09-19Almost a hour long wait on our food, just to get it and it is burnt and the whole skillet tasted that way. Its hard to screw up breakfast food, but they managed to do so. Ordered my eggs over easy, one had the yoke 3/4 of the way cooked, the other only had the color of where the yoke was. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone. The people that gave this place good ratings must be friends and family.
