I have been looking for a car at several dealerships. Also have am a returning customer at Elgin Hyundai. And all I can say is Steve Johnson and Roger the sales manager they were absolutely amazing. They definitely helped out as much as they could to get me the car I was looking especially in a time like this. Huge help and recommend going to both or either one they will definitely make you car buying a lot less stressful and help out a ton. Returning customer and definitely will refer people to them and return in the future.
Ive had nothing but good experiences with everyone at Elgin Hyundai. I purchased a 2021 Sonata N-line from Tyler and he was able to get me a very fair deal. I recently had to sell it in order to get a mortgage and Jeremy made me a great deal when buying it back from me.I will probably be back in a few months to buy a cheap used car until I get my house then Ill be coming back for another awesome Sonata N-line in 2023. They really know how to keep a customer here. I highly recommend Elgin Hyundai. Go talk to Tyler or Jeremy. You wont be disappointed.
*PLEASE, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. ESPECIALLY OUT OF STATE* I purchased a vehicle from this dealership on 01/28/2022 from out of state. On the bill of sale (mailed), they wanted to charge an extra $256.00 over the advertised price. I called about this discrepancy and was informed that I would receive a mailed check for the difference as the list price was $16908 vs bill price of $17164. Immediately upon receipt of the vehicle, I was forced to pay $340 for a transmission fluid flush on the vehicle (2016 Ford Explorer) as the transmission shifting was horribly clunky. This could have been identified with a simple test drive from an employee at the dealership BEFORE sending it over to me (as I again, am far out of state in Colorado). Upon the addition of a few hundred miles, more extremely expensive problems have begun to arise; including an $1800 front end fix. However, those do not even begin to remotely compare to the sheer lack of law defiance that I’ve endured thanks to Elgin Hyundai. I paid over $1600 in Colorado state taxes and over $600 in additional tags and licensing fees so as to ensure a proper registration of my vehicle in the state of Colorado. I have done everything that the dealer has asked of me including sending the emissions testing for the state both via email and through the physical mail. I have called and emailed on a multitude of occasions to see what the hold-ups may be and what remedies can be taken to resolve them. I am met with a constant and blatant ignoring. I’ve contacted several employees, none of which have been helpful at all. Due to constant problems I’ve faced with the vehicle and the dealership, I no longer have any desire to own this vehicle. That however, becomes even more problematic when I am now unable to sell the vehicle since I have nothing to prove ownership outside of my live loan. I do not have tags and plates, I do not have anything entered through the Colorado DMV (again, promised service that I paid over $600 for), I do not have a reliable contact, and I do not have any peace. I’ve spoken with a Jim, Jenni, Mike, and Tabitha. This has been the epitome of horrible when it comes to a vehicle shopping experience. I have an entire email thread and conversation history with the above stated facts. I am at the end of what I can do since there has been zero compliance or assistance from this dealer. I’m at the ends of what I can possibly beg for as I am only met with silence.**UPDATE**Imagine my surprise when after my post, this dealer review page is flooded with fake positive reviews after my truthful negative review. Yikes.
My husband and I visited Elgin Hyundai after working with another Hyundai dealership. We worked with Tony and he was great to work with- knowledgeable and not pushy. We were able to negotiate a fair price, while another Hyundai dealership wasn’t willing to negotiate- trying to tack on 5-10% market increase. The overall car buying process was very smooth and we left with the exact car we wanted that day. We did a lot of research before purchasing and feel confident that Elgin Hyundai was the right dealership. We love our new Palisade!
We drove an hour to buy a car, we were treated with a lot of disrespect, made promises that didn’t complete, tried charging things that supposedly were added to every car. We’re technicians at another dealer so we know our way through a car, we had mentions things that made the car lose value about $5k in work. We tried to tell them the car needed a lot of work to atleast lower the price down, sale manager Rodger came up to us and talked about it he said he couldn’t lower the price since it was a mechanic special. I was about to ask how come the advertisement didn’t say it was a mechanic special but was rudely interrupted by him saying “ are you buying the car? Are you co-signing? If not shut up”. After that he had told us some vulgar language and actions while insisting the car was perfectly fine and safe to be driven.
I highly recommend this dealership if youre looking to buy a new or used car. Salesman, Joel Valdez, made sure our experience with buying a new car was a smooth one. Also David King, Sales Manager, worked with us with many different requests to make sure we left a happy customer! Thank you Joel and David for going above and beyond for the customer!!!
I cant say enough good things about how professional Manager Mike Meah and his staff are. They went above and beyond to give us the best deal without the typical sales pressure or upsell. Our sales woman, Tabitha, followed through on everyone of our requests and even stayed late to accommodate our schedule. We couldnt be happier to call Elgin Hyundai our new dealership.
I really like this place , the people working there are really polite and helpful, they gave me a pretty good deal on my car , they took the time to explain me the buying process, and everything about how my car features works , I am really happy with my 2018 Santa Fe , I will definitely come back to buy my net car . 100% recommended!!
I have never had a more disappointing experience with customer service in my LIFE! Leasing a car with them has been a never-ending game of jumping through hoops. I wanted a safe, reliable car that would get me from point A to point B and all Ive gotten is a massive headache. I have to beg them to do the bare minimum and then I am pushed off for MONTHS saying that theyre still working on it. The minute this lease ends I am running to any other dealership and I would encourage everyone to do the same.
I had a wonderful experience purchasing my 2022 Hyundai Accent from Elgin Hyundai due to working with salesperson Steve Johnson! Steve was kind, patient and super helpful during the whole process. He also assisted me when I got a nail stuck in my tire just a few weeks later by getting me taken care of quickly and affordably. He has truly gone above and beyond and should be commended for his excellent customer service skills!
We made an appointment on 2/7 to see a car on 2/8. We called an hour before we went to confirm the appointment and make sure the car was still available. The woman we spoke to assured us that the car was available and to come out to see it. When we arrived we were told by a salesman that the car had sold the night before, but that they had many other cars that we might be intetrested in, oldest trick in the book, bait and switch. Bottom line, we waisted 2-1/2 hours driving to Elgin for no reason other than a shady car dealer playing shady car dealer games.Dont waste your valuable time with them!
Have had multiple great experiences at this dealership! Amin H was amazing and super knowledgeable and helped me get top dollar for my Hyundai Sonata! The service department has always provided great and fast service! For sure will be going back! Love these guys and store!
My husband, Dennis and I had the pleasure of working with Joel Valdez at Elgin Hyundai. Our vehicle of choice was a 2022 Santa Fe SEL. Joel was the epitome of professionalism as well as personable in his contact with us in explaining the vehicle, it’s options and many safety features as well as every warranty that Hyundai offers. My husband and I agree that we haven’t found a manufacturer who can offer a better warranty and best of all Hyundai offers a 3 year/36 months routine maintenance plan. Joel never tired of answering questions, set up our Blue link account and showed us how it worked. Prior to leaving he paired my phone to the car, had all the extras installed in the vehicle, weather tech all weather mats, cargo net, cargo cover and wheel locks. The gas tank was filled and the car washed. This is not our first vehicle we purchased here but it had been some years and the level of professionalism has not diminished. If you are looking for a vehicle please visit Elgin Hyundai and ask for Joel Valdez. I promise you will be pleasantly satisfied.
I was looking to buy a new Elantra. As i first arrived there i was greeted kindly within seconds by Amin one of the salesmen. I went for a test drive in the car and it was really good. He was nice and relaxed and very accommodating. He got me the price i need relatively quickly and easily. I would recommend him and the dealership to anyone that was trying to buy a new car
We arrived at the dealership and were helped by Katie who answered all our questions and went above and beyond. She really helped up throughout the entire process of buying our car. In the future I can definitely see myself coming back to this dealership. I would 100% recommend coming here.
This place does have nice cars but when it comes to buying the finance side of things tries to make you pay for anything they can. If you don’t want to pay for the random“fees” they put in there they crank up the interest rate and get rude with you. Lastly if you are purchasing from online make sure you read the form print. They include someone called AIP which is 1000 dollar leather cleaner and pretend that you have to pay for it to increase the prices. Really shady.
I had a fantastic experience at the Elgin Hyundai while selecting my vehicle this week. Joel Valdez was exceptional and found me the car that I needed, and worked with me to get to the price point I desired. Following the purchase, I had a great experience working with one of the Business Managers, Victoria Matheson. Victoria did an outstanding job walking me through all of my options for service coverage and I am very pleased with the total car package. Thank you to both Joel and Victoria for their hard work! I live in downtown Chicago, but I will absolutely be making the drive out to Elgin for my next Hyundai down the road- totally worth it!
First and foremost I have to thank Tabatha for her supreme service! Shes all smiles and will do all she can do make sure you leave a satisfied customer! With that being said, there were some issues with the used 2017 Elantra I purchased. Even so, none of these issues were actually any issue at all! Keith from the service side also did everything he could to make sure these issues were resolved and that my car was ready for me to pick up the next day. Because I came back in a timely manner the Elgin Hyundai team took very good care of me, and I am happy this is where I chose to purchase my latest vehicle! I will recommend this location to anybody I know is looking for a new or used car!
I went in a few weeks ago to trade in my car. Tabitha was an absolute pleasure to work with!! She was so kind and understanding and I didn’t feel very forced to get something I didn’t want. She was constantly in contact with me to make sure I got everything I needed. I had to go back to get my license plate I left in my old car and it was nowhere to be found. Tabitha heard about it and did everything she could to have the detailers find it and it was finally found in the trash and Tabitha cleaned it herself. The other people did not seem as friendly as her, especially the finance guy. He was very cold and completely changed attitude as soon as I rejected the additional warranty… The only reason I would recommend this dealer is because of how great Tabitha was.
This is my experience and opinion based. I visited them last month. Elgin Hyundai is 3 hours away from me but I drove there after calling several times and communicating with an individual by the name of “Gisell” stressing to only have me come out there if the specific car I want is there. We communicated my whole ride there through text and I was continuously assured the vehicle I wanted would be there—only to get there and they pull the “oh it’s locked up”. In my opinion they are HORRIBLE. I WILL NEVER EVER CONSIDER A PURCHASE WITH THEM AGAIN after trying to work with them. I believe they are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND WASTED MY TIME.
Hello There - I usually do not write a review but the experience I had with my recent purchase of Hyundai Palisade calligraphy 2022 at this location is making me to write.I’d like to thanks my sales person - Anthony Joson(Tony)He is welcoming and very knowledgeable. He handled us very well. He was crisp and clear with the car details and sounds very technical with the car functions which is really needed for customers to explains the details between various trims.The people at this showroom are trustworthy. I had to trade in my current car. Initially they gave me a quote which wasn’t a match with what carmax offered and later when I showed them my quote, Tony contacted his manager- Roger Ramirez and ensured it was taken care. Roger honored the same trade in price by speaking to his manager.All these happened in 45 mins . So folks, if you need a match with Carmax , I can bet this location can match it.Next comes to the delivery of the vehicle. I was told while signing the contract the color and trim I chose will be delivered in couple of days. True to their statement, it was arrived within couple of days and they called me to pick my car.Overall I’m very happy with the way they handled the customer.I wish they could have done even more better with the delivery. By the time I took the car, it was pretty dark outside . They have applied the recess package and exterior paint protection. When they handed over the car to me, I found few spots on my beige letter interior which doesn’t look good. I had to approach the delivery team. Later they came and cleaned. Also, the wash on the vehicle was not up to the mark. The next day morning when I saw the car, it had all spots, I had to take it to car wash to get a feel of new car..:) ( Hyundai Elgin provides complimentary car wash which is really good, but I stay 25 miles away and it doesn’t make any sense to travel there just to take care of this)I recommend people to this facility. They are good and trustworthy.
When we arrived to Elgin Hyundai, we were immediately greeted at the door by Amin. He was very helpful in finding the best car for our price range and was accommodating to what I was looking for. it was overwhelming since this was my first car, but Amin made sure he did what he could to answer my questions and address my concerns. Overall, we were satisfied with the service we received and very happy with our new 2022 Hyundai Sonata!
Avoid!! Shady! Called three times to ask if a vehicle was in to begin with. Was told they had three- so we drove an hour to get there to find out both were -SHOCKER- not there. The response we got was that they can’t control what the office says since they’re a block away. Added $1,400 for a dealer package that they make you buy and they justify it by saying it’s included in the final price. A package which the salesman originally told me was OPTIONAL. When I told them I didn’t want the package I was told I didn’t have a choice. Asked why I’m being charged $1,200 for a freight fee and he rudely responded with “Well it’s got to get here SOMEHOW!” Also gives a first responder discount but only if you finance through them and not your own bank- apparently they only “appreciate your service” if you give them more money and wasn’t told upfront it was contingent on this. Rude sales guy and manager. Rude service tech yelled at us that we werent supposed to be in there as we were walking through the garage WITH the salesman. Finance guy wouldn’t stop pushing their different warranties after we told him multiple times we didn’t want what he was pushing. When we unfortunately decided to purchase this vehicle as we were told it was coming in on the 30th. Zero communication on their end and we had to call multiple times to find out where the vehicle was. Every time we got “I don’t know” from the salesman and no new estimated date of arrival. Called the office and every time was directed to the sales manager Roger’s voicemail, and he never returns your call.
My husband and I are expecting and needed a bigger vehicle, we knew Hyundai offered a warranty for 20 years or 200k miles. With material shortages everywhere and market inflation this wasn’t the best time to purchase but working with George Campbell was a great experience. We left not feeling cheated like we did with other dealers and we love our new Tucson SEL. I’ve had a Hyundai for 5 years and even their service team at this location has always been nothing but helpful and accommodating even when they’re understaffed. Very happy with our decision to continue using Hyundai.
UPDATE: My husband & I recently went to get our car washed for the first time & we’re told it’d be 20 minutes. We waited for over an HOUR & when my husband finally went to check on it, they said it had been done & they don’t notify people about car washes, just regular service maintenance. We mentioned it was our first time & NO ONE told us that so when I asked one of the servicemen who I could file a complaint with, they directed me to the GM inside. When I got inside to let them know three men just stared at my blankly, asked who helped us, & made no apology or commitment that wouldn’t happen in the future. It’s like it didn’t even phase them or matter. You think it’d matter if someone came in with your leased vehicle, you’d care about their experience. To add to it, the car was so poorly cleaned. Free washes or not, it wasn’t worth it.ORIGINAL: My husband & I had a great experience! We were looking to upgrade to a larger vehicle and Lauren was so helpful with explaining everything. We can’t say enough good things about her!! After we had made our selection, the manager Brian and Victoria in Finance also made the process pretty seamless. By far the best experience I’ve had at a dealership and we were originally dreading going in.
Thieves and LiarsAbsolute worst experience ever. I went with my wife and 5 mo old kid thinking we will drive back in new car. I am so raged by the experience we had... please dont waste your time here... there are many other dealerships. Price online vs in store differed by almost 5-6k. I told them what you have online and they did not have any proper response to that and then they wanted me to trade my existing car to make up for the price reduction what they were willing to do. Absolute horrible. And I hope people at Elgin (Adal and Carlos) read this and realize that they need to have some basic business sense and courtesy for their clients/ customers.
The dealership itself is not as new or luxurious as other brands but the staff are friendly and efficient. Inventory was low but they what I was looking for. Vehicles are priced fairly and affordable, despite economic turmoil. See Katie Polite for friendly and efficient service.
I found the salesman to be very pushy and condescending. Tried to talk to me into vehicles I wasn’t interested in and then insinuated I was making a bad move by not buying or ordering right then. I was invited in saying they would look over my paperwork and discuss details of a possible trade. But they refused to talk to me at all if I wasn’t committing to buy on the spot. I would not go here again. I have been treated much better at Rosen Hyundai.
What a disappointment. Purchased a used 2015 Mini Cooper for my daughters Birthday and within 3 weeks had to replace tires, brakes, and sensors. I completely understand the risks involved in purchasing a used car but when I am lied to is where the problem arises. Sales manager Jim told me the had been checked top to bottom, right tire was fine....just needed air and the rest of the tires were at 65 percent of their life. Jim is a typical slick sales person who says anything to make the sale. Wouldnt return my phone call either. Stay away from this place.....and if you choose to do business there bring a mechanic and stay away from Jim.
About a week ago I called looking to see if they had any 2022 Hyundai Elantra. Was told they had 1 that would be in at the end of May so I decided to make an appointment. I told the sale person I wanted a bill of sale without any added warranty or extra items. The salesman came back a few min later stating “they no longer have the car”. At this point I was upset because I just wasted about an hour of my time because I was just told 1 would be available by the end of the month. Today I get a call from the manager of the dealership and was told that they still had the car available and to come in and discuss the car. I decided to go back in and see what he had to say. Well after they appraised my truck they came back with a bill of sale with an extra $5393 added. The extras added were the following:Elgin Hyundai Pro pack - $1399Resistall - $1995PRO PAC - $1999When I asked why these items were being added the sales man told me that they have to charge me this because they don’t have any cars in anymore and this is a “fee” for purchasing the vehicle because demand is so high. He then proceeds to tell me if I can’t afford the vehicle then maybe I shouldn’t buy it… Sorry it’s not that I cannot afford this vehicle it’s the fact that I refuse to pay for something I do not want added.Needless to say I highly recommend you don’t do business with this dealership because they Are going to add items on the price of your purchase under the idea that it’s mandatory.
Back in November of 2021 I was in the market for a new car and I had my eye on a brand new Elantra (Great mileage, sunroof, and within my budget). Tony Joson took me out for a test drive and I was pleased with what I was experiencing with the car. While discussing details, Mike Meah the GM introduced himself and showed me a 2021 Sonata w/ Tech Package they had as a demo. I was blown away with the even bigger sunroof and the 12 speaker sound system and decided this was the car for me. Mike, Tony, and Brian in finance worked to get me the best value for my trade-in as well as rebates and a great financing deal. So I ended up spending a little more than I would have liked but I truly believe that I got the best value for my money. Overall Im very happy with my new car and thank Mike and especially Tony for making it happen!
Worst experience. Completly unprofessional!I am from west michigan area. I spoke with one of their sales rep and confirmed the vehicle availability. Before starting my trip I called him and he told me that he is going to hold the vehicle for me during my 4 hour trip to their showroom which I understand given the current market trend. So I went ahead rented a one way rental car(so I can drop of and drive in the new vehicle) and during my drive I am in constant contact with this sales guy and he assured me the vehicle is there in the lot for me. I reached the showroom after 4 hours and some other sales rep shows up and told us the vehicle was sold. I gave him the whole story of what happened..they apologized and said the guy is from the internet dept who doesnt work at the location. They offered me some other vehicle with trim level lower than what I am looking for but we ended up not going with as its not the one we are looking. After lot of back and forth arguments, they agreed to reimburse me for my rental vehicle and I should be getting a check in mail in the next two days. Its been 2 weeks now..there is no sign of check. They keep saying their corp office didnt approve it yet and and that the odds were not high for receiving a rental reimbursement.
Abbas was awesome! He helped turn our horrible experience the day before into more than we expected. Especially since we drove away with the showroom model. There is no haggling with him. He layed out all scenarios and let us choose what worked for us. Please buy here. You wont regret it!
Used their express store to get a quote. But when i went down to the store. The sales manager did not honor that and added $4k to the price for some protection paint and useless stuff. Did not try to even make a deal and said no directly.The product specialist was very friendly and did the right job. Only the sales manager thinks too much of himself.Would never buy here.
My husband and I just purchased our first Hyundai car, the 2022 Elantra, and it was a horrible experience. We came in because of the price that shown online, however they change the price in person. Steve J. is the one who worked with us and he told us there was a mandatory freight charge, protection package, and resistall protection package which added an additional few thousand to the total fee. They also had advertised online that they are giving a $500 rebate along with 2.75% rate for financing. But when we spoke with the financial advisor Tim Olson we were told that since we were given the $500 rebate they could only give us 4.5% rate even though we have an excellent score. If you look on their website you can still see this advertisement so in reality they just lie to get people in the door. We will never go back there and neither will any of my family and friends. Please beware and find a different location if youre considering buying anything Hyundai.
UPDATE:Mike has helped me and my husband so much, and now we are getting a new engine. thanks MIKE!For 9 months ive been doing the oil consumption test, failed the first round then had a combustion clean was told I have to come back every 1000 miles again for 3000 so I did as I was told, first time burned .5 so was happy thinking it was fixed, second time barely even made it to 1000 miles I lost 1.6 quarts, and finally the 3rd time went in at it was 1.5 burned. I was told then the paper work will be sent to Hyundai and i will be getting a new engine. Its been about 3 weeks so i called to get an update, Im being told i havent been back since the first 1000 check at .5, which isnt true. they lost my paper work and Im being told i now have to re do the whole test because Hyundai changed the process. SOOO glad i wasted 9 months for absolutely nothing and no one told me in January that the process was changing. My car is only a 2016, Ive always gotten my oil changes at 3k. If i have to do this test again and nothing comes from it i will never buy from Hyundai again. Ive told so many people i loved my car and about the warranty but you have to fight tooth and nail to use the warranty, when I bought the car BECAUSE of this amazing warranty.
Total waste of time.. I made an appt for after work ,test drove an suv with the salesman. Went back to the salesmans desk to discuss a price for the vehicle. His manager told him that he couldnt give me a price on the suv because I wasnt ready to buy today. What? How am I ready to buy a car if they wouldnt give me a price? I emailed the dealership manager about the issue . No reply. Terrible service. I will never go back there. . Going to Martin Chevrolet no issues. They told me everything I wanted to know including the price.
Maintenace deptLeaving a 2 star just because Im not the one dealing with them its my son. And its more towards the maintenance dept. They will tell you car is ready for pick up and the next day you call to pick up car is not even there!! If a dealership has to deal with other body shop they should be the ones calling them to confirm all details. Need car service for your Hyundai I suggest different dealership
Very disappointing experience with elgin Hyundai. Needed to sell one of our cars for cash to pay off other car, to not have 2 car payments. This dealership would not reserve the new Tucson we wanted, even for a few hours while we would travel from CARMAX straight to dealer to buy the Tucson. Pretty poor customer service. While sitting here today shopping for a new car, one of the sales managers got into a verbal yelling match with a transporter. Calling him a list of expletives as well as embarrassing himself and ruining the whole image for everyone shopping inside. As someone who works in the LTL industry, truckers are the one group of people you need to respect. If they dont deliver, there would be no cars to sell. Clearly upper management here doesnt respect that and seems to have very little self control for anger in a public setting. Would not recommend buying a car from here.
I’ve had my car for almost 2 months maybe less and already having issues. I bought my car in the winter time so who would have thought on checking the AC in a vehicle. Well it starting getting hot and boom AC doesn’t work. I refilled the coolant and 3 days later back to not working. Called the dealership and was told they have to do all types of checks in it and I had to pay 169 dollars. Seriously…. I didn’t even have my car that long and already having issues. I originally loved this place but there are trucks being played. If your buying a car from this place make sure you check EVERYTHING because you will be paying. SMH

Just came in for an oil change appointment at 20,000 miles and service advisor try to upsell me $389 30,000 mile service package - had to say no 5 times. Checked in online for the service apt and still had to check in with advisor - what is the point for your online check in ? Will not be back.
Another Bob Loquercio Delership, that is so HUGe that they’ve forgotten customers.BL Auto won’t even call me back after one of their mechanics destroyed my engine. They paid for it but they wouldn’t cover a rental for 5 weeks.Go find a family owned Hyundia, Ford, Jeep that cares about customers
This dealership will practically force you to purchase a $2,000 extended warranty, $900 interior protection plan (that can only be honored at this dealer) and $580 delivery and handling fee (even when the car you are looking at was a trade in and never delivered). ALL OF THESE SHOULD BE AN OPTION TO THE CUSTOMER! Not required to pay for. They use these against you and make you feel like you have to pay for them when you buy a car here. This dealership is not very customer centric and the sales team is mostly young and not well practiced in assisting the customer in any price negotiation (they do what the manager tells them to do and they are very timid to speak or request on behalf of the customer, almost as if theyll get a spanking).Management was not friendly, a little bald man in a dress shirt and tie kept coming out of the back and looking at everyone with a very grumpy mug face (go home if you dont want to smile and be friendly with customers that CHOOSE to come there. ). Ive bought and sold a lot of cars and this was the worst experience Ive had. However, the one star is for the really good cappuccino machine they have that made a great cappuccino. Wont be back 👎
They used to be nice. But idk what happened. Theyre pushy and wasted my time. I had a lease and before even going up there I called them to talk about my lease because I had some questions about it. The lady Michelle told me to ask for Roger. Said he was great and he would help me out. But my question was do I HAVE to come up there? I mean im trying to save miles on my car so I dont wanna waste them coming up there to get information that they could just tell me over the phone. So Michelle said she understood and went and asked I guess one of the leasing specialists or something do I need to come there. And she said that he told her yes I do. So I went up there. And you guessed it a waste of time. Guy named Stephen was less than friendly. I didnt even see Roger which was who I came up there for to begin with and he pushed me off on someone else. And once the guy named Stephen I guess saw I wasnt trying to hear any of his offers for my lease all the suddenly magically Roger had time to speak with me and tried to pitch some lame sale or deal glad I walked outta there when I did. I saw a sticker on the door when I was leaving that said nada which is a company or something. I thought that would be the perfect name for this place nada. Cuz they did nada for me. Idk how they even sell cars at all its probably to family members.
Had a fantastic experience at this dealership this weekend! I got here early on Black Friday so I was able to get in and out quickly with my new Santa Fe. Elgin Hyundai and their sales rep Tyler made it a comfortable easy buying experience and made sure I had everything I needed before seeing me off. Management was professional and treated me with respect despite having difficulty’s getting approved for a loan at first. They made it happen and I drove off with a car I’m happy to be in. I will be back for my servicing needs when the time comes for my vehicle.
Tyler is awesome, nice, funny, professional, not overbearing, flexible... all the things you look for in a salesman. Got us really close to the price we were hoping for, didnt even have to go down a trim level to accomplish it. So we bought and so far so good! My wife loves my new ride and so does my puppy. We highly recommend Tyler and Elgin Hyundai. We are actually looking to buy a Tucson now as well.
Bait-and-switch business practices; you cant trust the price they quote you. We bought a car today after comparing and negotiating the car price at various dealers across the Chicagoland area. Elgin gave us the lowest price, and we got the ABSOLUTE FINAL FIXED price in writing via email and paid a $500 deposit on it.Preparing to fill out the paperwork on site, the price was ~$1,000 higher! We had to argue at some length to have them agree to honor the firm price theyd previously quoted. Then we discovered an ADDITIONAL $799 fee theyd added to the price sheet for Protection Package -- i.e. a bunch of add-ons we didnt want or wouldnt use, like Nitrogen-filled tires, door edge guards, pin striping, wheel locks, and unlimited car washes.Brian, the manager, initially refused to negotiate, basically admitting that hed given us a very good deal on the fixed price but that demand had increased since then, so he was including a costly package of add-ons to make up the difference on his profit. After another lengthy argument, they finally took it off the invoice. The whole thing felt pretty sleazy to us.
I want to relate my recent experience buying a used car. I saw a car online I was interested in. We needed it because my kids are outgrowing what we have. I clicked the online chat and was quickly connected with a friendly and helpful associate who set up an appointment for me. I was greeted quickly when I walked inside, and the salespeople were friendly and highly professional. There was no pressure and any questions I had they could answer.They allowed me to bring the car to an independent mechanic to inspect which gave me peace of mind and also tells me they stand behind what they sell, even used cars.When I made an offer there was no run around or funny buissness. The negotiation was upfront and honest which I appreciate immensely. We reached an agreement that gave me the car I wanted at a great price. The paperwork was efficiently done as were those working the cashier counter.During the times that waiting was required, I found the waiting room to be comfortable and fully stocked. Not all places have such decent amenities so its another great thing they can be proud of.Buying a car can be nerve racking and unpleasant, but the fine folks at Elgin Hyundai did a great job. My salesperson and all the staff there treated me like a human being and with respect and openness. You dont always find that when car shopping. Therefore I highly recommend you check out Elgin Hyundai when you are looking for your next car. Thanks again guys, I really love the car.Sincerely, a very satisfied customer.
Sales Person was great. Car is certified pre owned. No worries. Watch financing. The internet price was 1000. Lower than sticker price. The internet price is why we drive 30 miles to see vehicle. I didnt pay attention when signing papers. They charged us sticker price and didnt give us internet price. I screen shot internet price. So I have proof of what they did. I wish I could post it. Watch finance department.I want to add to this review. 7-8-2022. I made a visit to Elgin Hyundai for routine service on my Santa Fe.As I waited for routine maintenance to be done, I received a visit from the service manager. He notified me that my pads and rotors needed to be replaced for 560.00. I told him not to do the brakes because I could do them. I ordered the parts. Less than 120.00 for pads and rotors. It took me about 30 minutes per side. Im not sure what they charge for labor, but, I dont think it was 440.00 for labor. They padded the price to do the brakes. Elgin Hyundai must stop cheating their customers. BTW, I had them flush the radiator and change transmission fluid. That was over 300.00. Im sure that price was a little high too.
1. I was initially scammed out of $499 for a theft protection that was never disclosed to me. However, that is being paid back (hence no longer 1 star). The finance guy told me he adds this charge to every sale without the mention of ir. BUYER BEWARE. For additional warranties; finance has a real problem taking NO for an answer. I must have told him no thank you nearly a dozen times.2. The listed price for a CPO vehicle is an outright lie. They will try to get an additional $1200 or so from you on this. I ended up paying $700 for the CPO even after a sales manager told me the CPO itself is a few hundred.3. Lou is an awesome salesman; not pushy, and an overall pleasure to work with. However, I cant bring myself back there or recommend your company after being worked over.
I recently was looking into trading in my old car and buy a new vehicle. I went to a different Hyundai dealer that was closer to home first, and had a TERRIBLE experience. I then went to Hyundai Elgin and had a much better experience. Tony assisted me with my trade in and purchasing a new vehicle. He answered all my questions thoroughly and honestly. We were able to come up a with a deal that worked best for me. I was also assisted with an incredible financial advisor, Victoria, who also was very honest and helpful with determining a payment plan that was best for me. I would highly recommend Hyundai Elgin for anyone looking to buy, lease, or trade in their vehicle.
Everybody was very friendly. Unfortunately they would not honor the price listed on their website for the vehicle - their price was close to $6000 higher than stated online. I understand that there are different add on packages that dealers install. But that should be included in the online pricing.
After my service appointment, I called to ask about a term I wasn’t familiar with that I saw included in my summary of services. The lady whom I spoke with was less than helpful and I was not satisfied after speaking with her. I will say that wait time for car repairs is reasonable and the waiting area is pleasant.
Do not purchase through this dealership, they took advantage of my brother and charged him for every extra package under the sun that they could and Mike claimed that its done on every car and part of their policy. When I called to try and get more information and resolve the situation they said they couldnt change the contract because he signed it already even though official physical delivery of the car hasnt been made. They also openly acknowledged they understood my brother did not know much about the car buying process and stuck a college student with a 28k loan for a 17k car.
I had the best car buying experience and Elgin Hyundai! I was looking for a Santa Fe and was told by another local dealership that I would have to wait a month or longer. After not hearing form them, I came to Elgin and they were able to find me a car in under a week!Joel, the salesman was AWESOME! He was in communication with me throughout the whole process. I went into this dealership with the full intention of driving out of there in a brand new Santa Cruz today. I did my research, I crunched my financing number. I went in knowing I would have to negotiate a little and will probably have to pay a little more than my budgeted monthly payment. And open to even leasing. Imagine my surprise when they came back with a price $11K over the sticker price. I was expecting couple thousand but $11K? Wow. $1,200 for floor mats (they werent very clear on this add on but floor mats were the only thing mentioned), $1200 for some addl interior/exterior coverage on a brand new car? $1200 for freight charges on a car already there? And add $2,000 just because they can. What was even more questionable was after they offered more for my trade in, my monthly payment didnt go down, it went up almost $100? I was open to negotiating and I believe the saleslady was open to it too. However, the finance guy would not budge on $42,000 final on a $31,000 car. He did offer selling me another car and maybe that was his actual goal. Whatever the reason for not wanting to negotiate, I walked out. The market is unstable right now, I get that. But they could have sold me a $35-36,000 car today, plus a trade in and missed that opportunity because they refused to negotiate.
I went here 4 years ago to buy my first car. I loved about 50 minutes away at the time. They got me a deal over the phone within my budget with the down payment I had at the time. Being a college kid didn’t make it easy getting into a car. Everyone else wanted to charge me twice as much per month as Elgin Hyundai. I worked with Jeremy who was excellent, I’m not sure if he’s still there but his and everyone’s work was really appreciated. Got me into a 2014 Chevy spark in 2017. Got a great deal with them. I unfortunately am too far away now to be working with them again but am glad to be working with another Hyundai dealership.
This is a great dealership. It was my first ever car buying experience and it went great. The staff are friendly. I never felt like I was pressured at all. I was given as much time as needed to make my decision. I highly recommend asking for Tony. He was very helpful with the whole experience and explaining many of the benefits the dealership has to offer. He had the car I wanted to test drive in front of the parking lot in a matter of minutes. The process was smooth and easy when buying the car. Before leaving the dealership they give you a full tank of gas. In addition, Tony stayed late after closing hours to explain to me how to navigate the dashboard of the car. Even after buying the car, he checks up on his clients to make sure everything is going well. After a couple days I noticed I had a small scratch on my right side view mirror. Honestly I don’t know how it happened as I was being very careful with my new car! I explained it to Tony and he notified his manager immediately. They said they would fix it without any questions. I’m very thankful. Their service is fast. I would recommended my family and friends to this dealership. They are an awesome dealership and warranties are excellent.

I normally don’t write comments but need to share worst experience with this dealership. Back in June 2021, I put down my deposit for Palisade 2021 and did tell them that I was on vacation next day for three weeks. Week after I left for vacation, sale person called and told me that my Palisade had arrived at dealership. Two days after that on Saturday sales person called and told me that General Manager (Mike) told him that they couldn’t hold the vehicle until I came back because of someone wanted to purchase it. I told him that what the purpose of putting deposit for and told him once I put down deposit the vehicle was mine just matter when I came back from vacation in two weeks when I came back and did paperwork. Salesperson said that he was told by GM that dealership wasn’t a museum to keep the vehicle so they sold it to another customer. That was the first time I heard that dealership refused to hold the vehicle for customer who even though had put deposit down to secure the vehicle. After that I called different dealerships and asked if they ever sold the vehicle that customer has already put down deposit to secure before customer was on vacation. They said that they never did that to customer unless the customer didn’t show up on the day customer has promised. This dealership took over a month to send me back my deposit. This dealership is greedy and worst I’ve ever dealt with.
For Genesises later and still only a Hyundai experience. Every time I am to purchase / lease a new Genesis I am being assured that it will be a better experience this time. My car was repaired this morning and I have to go back since the problem did not go away. Waiting for a loaner is three weeks...It actually makes way more sens to have the routine maintenance done at one of the luxury dealerships: Lexus, BMW, MB. They will often match whatever Hyundai is charging. At the same time offering a luxury experience.I did complain about the waiting time for a loaner to the General Manager - Michael Meah but with no result.11/15/2021 - a month later since the initial diagnose and two repair attempts... still the same problem. I called this morning to schedule 3rd repair of the same issue. I requested a loaner just so I have a car to get to and from work, while the dealer has all the time in the world to diagnose, repair and verify.I was told that I would have to wait 3 weeks for the loaner.
I wish we had a good experience here. After reading reviews, we had all the faith in the world that Elgin Hyundai would take care of us, but that was not the case. We had already test drove at another location and were ready to buy the car we wanted from Elgin. After being told that they had the exact one we wanted, we drove an hour out of our way to go purchase the vehicle. Upon arrival, we were not greeted. Once we finally sat down with a team member they took 30min to find the car... but the car wasnt even at the location. He found the car but apparently a brand new 2022 santa fe was being loaned out as a service vehicle and no one had any idea of it. As we sat and waited another 30min for what to do next, we were told by the manager that they would be getting the car back by Tuesday 11/30 and we could purchase the vehicle. That sounded good to us - until the manager told us that the brand new vehicle had 2,000 miles on it... and that if we were to purchase that day, we would most likely not be able to negotiate any kind price reduction. To me, that is insane. 2k miles on a service vehicle and no price reduction? That is NOT a brand new car anymore. Upon further investigation, it was made known that the santa fe we wanted was being leased out to the owners daughter and it would not be returned for several months. Had we known all of this before driving over, we would not have made the trip or gotten our hopes up. Being lured to a dealer under false pretenses is unacceptable. My partner and I left feeling extremely disappointed by the horrible customer service and salesmanship. All we wanted was to buy a new car.
Worst service department experience from all dealerships. You will get 3 years of a free oil change, but you have to pay attention because they will charge you for it, on top of this, the dealership will perform additional work on your car, such as changing windshield wipers, filters without asking the owner of the car.Going in for a free oil change and warranty job you will be getting a $400 bill without prior knowledge, when questioned you will be given attitude and rude behavior.Very unprofessional.
I had a good experience with the help of Amin, I went in looking at the Toyota RAV4 that they had from a trade in and he was very helpful. Took his time and was patient while I got things in order for the purchase. He is a great salesman and genuine to his clients,if need be I’d definitely buy from him again.

Terrible, terrible service department. Went in for a STARTER that had a warranty company covering up to $400 and found out AFTER the work was done that it was $850 for a starter!!! A STARTER!! And their service rep Ron never even said what the cost would be after they diagnosed it , FOR $150 Cost!!! How do you charge $150 to determine the starter is bad when I TOLD you the starter was bad??? Awful. I would never recommend these guys. Theyll rob you

Mia was wonderful! My fiancé and I went there a couple times to look at a truck he really wanted. It wasn’t exactly the price we were looking for so Mia consistently worked with the people there to get us to the price we wanted to be at. Will be back honestly just to give Mia another commission check when it’s my turn for a new vehicle!
Went there for an oil change. Walked away with new rear brakes. Service advisor said that he would use a $50 coupon towards the brakes. He never did, he showed me a receipt where $50 was credited but that was for my oil change that is supposed to be free any ways because of an active maintenance package. Dishonest and Misleading and I will not be back at this dealership. You have been warned.
I had been in contact with the dealership all week about a vehicle I was extremely interested in. With me being 2.5 hours away, I had asked if they could hold it for me until Saturday but they said it was first come, first serve (which I completely understood). I called at 2:30pm Friday to confirm the vehicle was there and told them I was leaving at 7am the next morning to purchase it. Everything was good to go. They called me at 9pm that evening to tell me they allowed someone to BORROW the vehicle for whatever reason. I’m sure this was a simple mistake on someone’s part but the lack of communication and organization on their part is ridiculous. I will not be purchasing a vehicle from them and do not recommend them.

I walked into the dealership for my scheduled test drive and wasnt approached by eager salesmen which was a plus!! I checked in with a sweet smiling receptionist who called for a salesman. I again was greeted by a gentleman who walked me to a desk and he said Joel will be with me soon. I sat down and was approached by Joel, he said he had to finish with another customer but would be with me shortly. Joel came back and was happy to assist with my test drive. Throughout the time of my test drive till the end of the sale, he was kind, helpful and professional. Also, Mike (GM) and Victoria are awesome and helpful! I would recommend this dealership to my friends and family because thats how I felt with this great team of people!
My experience was great thanks to Ron at the service counter. He took care of my vehicle and went out of his way to make sure all repairs were done before I left town. I would highly recommend any of my family or friends to see Ron if they need service on their vehicle. Ron told me there were a few mechanical issues with my vehicle and he took care of all of them under the cars warranty. Will be back again!

I went in for my first oil change and I was told my car was never certified, when we purchased a certified used car. I sat in the waiting room for almost 3 hours while they did my oil change and certified my car. In addition, I have been having issues with the finance department and their lack of response. I will never purchase a vehicle from Elgin Hyundai again.
They tried to charge me twice for freight. They wanted me to prepay for oil changes on a 2022 Tucson that has 3 years of complementary Hyundai maintenance! They called me a week after the sale and said the figured the sales tax wrong by almost $600.00. If I didn’t bring them a check the state would assess penalties! I filed a BBB complaint against them over a month ago that they have not replied to.Update BBB said dealership said it was just a mistake and they gave me a coupon for a free detail or $536 car wash. No wonder the BBB review average is 1.9 of 5 and BBB rating is AAA. They agreed to a price then after sale insisted on more money. NO ONE looks at the tax rate being used on a sale. NEVER had Target, McDonalds etc. call be a week later for more money. Even while I was in the dealers office a person from accounting on speaker phone told the manager “it’s our mistake, we usually pay it not customer. He took he off speaker and chastised her”
This review is based off of the finance department only, ours salesman was great. I traded my 2018 car in august for a new 2022. it took over a MONTH for them to pay off my trade in, which resulted in me paying a monthly payment to a car that is no longer in my drive way. I called finance, and they said they were was an issue with my insurance, and no one bothered to contact me about it. After calling them daily on the status of the trade in being paid off, they said the check needs to be funded from finance, (mind you it has been 28 days since i traded my vehicle in). Mind you, its illegal in the state of illinois for a dealership to not pay your loan off within 21 days. It wasnt till a few days ago that my car was sold on their website, so they practically sold my car with the title still under my name, and then they decided to call me saying they are now paying off my car. My advice for you guys, REQUEST IN WRITING a pay off date, no matter what. I was so close to calling a lawyer for this whole process because it was nothing but excuses from finance, a headache for me to pay an additional payment on a car I no longer had, and a new car payment simulatenously.

With Dan Conley it was interesting to find a deal that suits me. My husband bought me a car. He did his homework. He looked at how much the cars cost, what kind of car we want and for what price. He was very knowledgeable about the car and worked to get me the best deal and trade in on my old vehicle. This is my second vehicle that I have purchased at this dealer and have been happy on both occasions. Also “kudos” to their service department.
I recently purchased my second Hyundai Tucson from this dealership. In both cases the sales person went out of their way to be sure I found the car that was just right for me. The sales people are very personable, and the finance manager remembered me from my first purchase. Any routine service has been easy to schedule, done within the suggested time frame and was a fair price.
I set up an appointment with Katie to see a car a day in advance. She claims that they had one of the vehicles I was looking at. When I called and told them I’m on my way, confirming my appointment, they informed me the car I was looking to purchase was sold 20 minutes prior, but they had another one in the same model in stock. Upon arriving to the dealership, 15 minutes before my appointment, the sales rep tells me the car was already sold 20 minutes ago. I drove 2 hours to get to the dealership and I made it clear that I wanted to purchase the vehicle, but Katie failed to even give me a follow up call to courteously let me know the car was sold. It is frustrating to know a simple phone call could have saved me so much time, yet they failed to deliver such a simple task. Beware of this dealership, all they look after if their money and their pockets. They clearly showed me they do not care for the customers.
I had a very good experience. The sales people were kind and helpful. One person imperticular Miss Mia. She was very knowledgeable made everything easy. I highly recommend Elgin Hyundai and Mia as your sales person. I will definitely be sending family and friends there
Our experience started with Dan Conley. He was attentive, honest, and fun to talk to. He was super patient with us and now we are driving a new SUV. He was always willing to help and answer any questions we had. When we went over the car details and he saw how I was sitting at the wheel, he gave me advise on how to position the steering wheel so I wouldnt get hurt by the airbag in case of an accident. I appreciate that so much. For him, its more than a sale and down the road, whenever its time for a new car, well go back to him.
Greatest Car Shopping Experience Ever. Elgin Hyundai are very professional, courteous, and caring about the best deal that will fit the customers budget. I went looking for a particular vehicle. Got it.But I was unsure it would happen because I was trading in a car with a little negative. Elgin Hyundai gave me top dollar my trade in and got me a 6% interest rate on an used vehicle with fair credit. This interest rate is almost unheard of with fair credit. My salesman, Steve Vlagos is a great guy who provides excellent customer care service. He told me that I would get financed with an 8% interest rate. By the time, I went to sign the paperwork the finance manager Victoria had worked my deal 2 whole points lower. Again unheard of with fair credit. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to visit Elgin Hyundai when shopping for either new or pre-owned vehicles. I am 55 years old and have never been in and out within 2 hours of purchasing the car of my desire along with a great interest rate until I shopped with Elgin Hyundai.Thank you guys for taking good care of me
Had a great salesperson in Steve Johnson. Very friendly. Got the car I wanted to look at ready quickly for a test drive. Just make sure the numbers in the finance office match what you agreed upon. There was a discrepancy but I caught it and it was remedied. Overall it was a good experience and would buy from Steve again.
I came in about a month ago to buy my first car. It was easy enough to get the test drive and they had the car I wanted in my preferred color. They went over the prices with me and had me initial the sheet before running my credit. One of my credit cards had just increased my limit which increased my credit score, but it had not updated in all credit bureaus yet. They came back with having used the lower of the credit scores and the prices started to go up. I ultimately agreed/initialled to $289 for my lease only to end up with it being $297. At that point I told myself it was just another $8 and went with it. I do like my car and have no issues with it. A few days later though, I got notices emailed to me that two of my credit scores were pulled for this and they clearly selected the lower of the two to jack up my lease payments. I received the survey from them shortly thereafter and was honest about the financing portion giving it two stars. I immediately got 3 phone calls, voicemails, and a text from the sales person trying to reach me regarding an important matter. I thought it had to do with there being something wrong with my car. When I got the text from my salesman, I asked what it was specifically regarding and it was about the survey scores. They wanted me to redo it and give them all 5s. No one addressed any of my concerns with me or did anything to rectify them. When Jenni emailed me the link to redo the survey, I emailed her back and explained that I couldnt give a better score as nothing that I could see was addressed to warrant a better score. Since then I have heard nothing from anyone, and now I found out that no one at the dealership has sent in my account information to the leasing company in order to make my first payment with exactly 1 week until it’s due. If I weren’t diligent about making my payment, I could already be in default 1 month in. Is this because I wouldn’t give all 5s?2 days later: LM for financing person at the dealership to get account info in order to make a payment-no call back. I’ll keep you posted on how this goes.3 days later: Received email from Jenni to discuss in response, still no call from financing about my payment.4 days later: Spoke to Jenni about the survey process and how its scored. Apparently my response was forwarded to managers who did not respond. She is working on trying to resolve the payment issue.Update: The paperwork was not submitted electronically, but the dealership helped me make my payment. I didn’t get my second invoice either, but it was confirmed that everything was submitted correctly and I was able to call the leasing company to get the information to make the payment online instead. I will say Jenni has followed through with helping me resolve the payment problems, so I’m changing my review to 3 stars.
Worst experience ever!!! Beware!!! Very rude and ill-mannered manager!!! I was searching for Tucson online as soon as I submitted my request form I got call from Elgin Hyundai yesterday. The rep Michelle told me they have 4 Tucson 2021 in stock in different colors. I told her to email me the details but she sent me a general email. So today I drove there one hour after work to be told they dont have any in stock. Only 2022 in blue was in stock. When we told the manager (he didnt tell me his name) this was a clear case of Bait and switch, he started yelling at us. A very ill-mannered man who was yelling at us inside his showroom. Refused to believe that his sales rep told me they had 4 in stock. Accused me of mistaking his dealership for some other. Was constantly talking over me and wouldnt let me finish. I am a woman and he behaved so disrespectfully with me. I felt so bad taking my husband all the way to this horrible place!
Buyer beware in attempting to get a used car. This place has already taken it upon themselves to add an additional upcharge of about 10% to all used vehicles due to the current market. Having already looked at other used vehicles and pricing we knew where our the door costs should be, on a $8500 car it’s around $1200, here it’s pushing $3000. Would highly recommend to do your homework or test drive elsewhere and find what you like and then hard negotiate online vs going in and doing the whole “let me check with my manager” routine
Our last 4 cars have been Hyundai’s that we purchased (2) or leased (2) from Elgin Hyundai. Mike (the GM), Jim in the service dept and Jeremy in sales have been phenomenal with us every step of the way. Whether it has been renewing a lease, a trade in, servicing cars... we feel very taken care of and would definitely recommend this location based on the quality of the service that my husband and I have always received.
I would never buy a car from this dealership, they always and i mean ALWAYS try to get you over sticker price and you’ll never get a deal or price lowered it only goes up here.The GM is a joke, he steals commission from the sales representatives and finds ways to screw them over.So it’s not only the customer but also the employees getting screwed over at this dealer. They also have 15 and 16 year olds driving your $30,000 cars
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the lack of communication and service that mother has received at Elgin Hyundai. As a former Insurance Representative ( StateFarm 6years, Geico 1yr) I have never had the displeasure of doing business with such dishonest deceitful sales people. My mother is a middle aged African American woman who was excited snooty purchasing a new vehicle and ultimately she was taken advantage of. The communication was great until she had an issue she demanded be fixed under warranty, she hasn’t had the car a full 4 months even, brought it back for repairs which went undone for 3 weeks causing her to be without a vehicle because she was advised that Elgin Hyundai wouldn’t provide one. Extremely disappointed with vehicle purchased from Elgin Hyundai and frustrated with the service and ManagementOriginal- I purchased a Kia Optima on May 7 from Elgin Hyundai. In just a little under 3 weeks after purchase, the car started having mechanical problems. I called in on May 27 and was scheduled for a car inspection on June 1—where they told me “Nothing was wrong”.On Sunday, August 8th my car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I took the car to Kia mechanics (since it is a Kia product) and was told that the car had not had any recent oil, as it was “bone dry”. This tells me that my dealership did not do the 5-point inspection that they boast. The car started stalling again!!! I took it back to Kia--- remember, according to Elgin Hyundai “Nothing is wrong”. Well, 7/6 Kia found the battery needed to be replaced, which I did. Mind you, at this point I have had the car for 3 months.Since then, my car has stalled again. I have taken it back to Hyundai dealership mechanics. They are now telling me that the camshaft sensor, plugs and cover need to be replaced. They want $800 for this maintenance----I have reached out to the General Manager of Elgin Hyundai via email and have gotten very little response and absolutely none via email… They will not commit conversations to paper.Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied and overwhelmed with this vehicle. I believe in companies standing by the products they sell and taking care of their customers. As a current hotelier, I would never treat my customers in such a fashion. As a former concierge, I have learned reviews go a long way. I cannot recommend this locale and would encourage others to stay clear.
Overall negative experience. I dropped my car off for servicing here. The service rep Larry was great, knowledgeable and personable. However when I came to pick up the car I had to wait 25 minutes (not an exaggeration) for a porter to bring it around. I would have gladly walked to it myself if I had known it would take that long. Icing on the cake? My check engine light was on when I got in my car. Ill have to go back in to get it checked out...again.
The sales associate was very knowledgeable about all car features and he answered all our questions. The car price and discounts were explained well, and we understood the final price very well and were happy with it. The business manager explained optional protection package options to us and closed the transition smoothly. We love our new car. Thank you all!

When you are looking for your new Hyundai - go to Elgin Hyundai and ask for Lou Mocnik! You can even just start on the phone with him and he will get on what you are looking for. This is my 2nd Sonata purchase with Lou and both transactions were pretty painless. I would also recommend the 2020 Sonata Limited - the most technically advanced vehicle in the Hyundai fleet. It can pretty much drive itself.

This was the worst experience we have ever had with a dealership. We were contacted by Don who indicated that they had a 2010 Mercury Marquee with 52,000 miles. When we asked the price he quoted a price over $9,000.00. We indicted that we were not interested and he asked what price we would be willing to pay. My husband said $7,500.00 and Don said, and I quote “ since you are ‘a man of the cloth’ I will get it for $7,000.00. We agreed to drive the 2 1/2 hours to purchase the car. We got to the dealership and we were told that Dan was with another customer so Tony helped brought the car up and let us test drive it. My husband popped the truck and it would not latch closed again. Tony tried it and said “huh”. Eventually we got the truck to stay closed. We then went for a sort test drive and the drivers seat back adjustment would not work. We got back to the dealership and told Tony about the seat back. Tony then went and got Dan for us, Dan was with another customer. Dan introduced himself and told us he would be done shortly and had us sit at his desk. We sat at the desk for over an hour while Dan went back and forth between the other customer and us. When he finally sat down and gave us his attention he told us he not longer had to work for commissions after being there for 35 years so he was just going to give us his best price. Another employee came over and got Dan who the told the other customer he had a big problem. Dan came back to us and wrote down $7,000.00 on a form and said he had my husband sign and then he told us he was going to talk to his guy. He came back with Roger who had a new form with a price over $8,000.00 (I honestly don’t remember exactly what that price was). When we said no Roger said “I don’t know how much Dan said he could sell it to you for” we told Roger $7,000.00 and he immediately stated “I can’t sell it to you for that.” So we were tricked to taking our afternoon and driving two and a half hours and the dealership went back on their word. False advertising, lying to get us into the dealership and then trying to raise the price above what we had told Dan we wanted to pay. Mind you we indicted $7,500.00 and Dan made the lower offer to us. Don’t do business here!!
Went in there with high expectations. Our sales guy AJay was great!! The general manager offered a final price. I left for an hour and cam back and wanted to purchase the car. The general manager had left for the day and the other manager wouldn’t honor the price. I live an hour away and he told me I would have to come back Monday for the general manager to be in to get that price. Super unprofessional. Got a deal and then they wouldn’t honor it, very disappointing!! Not a good experience. AJay was very helpful though!

I never experienced such a bad customer service in my life. Its been over 11 months now that i am asking to fix a mistake dealership made. I have wrong VIN number on the title you gave me. No one has intention to take ownsership or interest to fix the problem. There is no motivation to fix the problem since the sale is complete and you got the money already. Negligence during filing the paperwork is costing me hours of my time trying to fix this issue. I have to call you number of times to reach a person on phone and explain my problem but it always has to go to voice mail and calls are never returned. I am going to come to the dealership and sit there until the issue is fixed.
Zero stars. Misleading prices online , you call in and speak to one of their internet people and they give you wrong info just to get you in the dealer. They add a Elgin protection package to the price of the car and tell them you dont want it they say you have to buy it comes with all of the cars. I wanted a car that was in transit and somehow it had the dealer package already on it even though it was in transit. I spoke to Mike the GM, and he wasnt professional at all. Reading other reviews it looks like its a known issue and the owner doesnt do anything to address. I told the GM I wouldnt be buying a car from there because of all the lies and deception and he replied well what am I talking to you for and hung up. Tony the sales guy seemed cool but I have to say he definitely does what he is told when it comes to adding unnecessary packages. Its clear leadership is a big problem at this dealer. Stay away! Read the fine print.
Working with Joel was a snap. He didnt try to upsell us or try and get us into Anything we werent interested in. He listened and got me what I wanted. Uncle Dean in financing was top tier. Overall this was the best experience Ive ever had purchasing/leasing a vehicle. In and out speedy quick!!Joel and Uncle Dean rock!Edit: as I was waiting for them to clean it so I could leave. An employee damaged my new car. They had me leave in a rental/demo vehicle until they can fix mine. When I asked how I would be compensated for the inconvenience, the best they could offer was a free detail service. What else am I gonna do?Joel is a sweetheart having to relay the info the GM couldnt be bothered with. 5 stars for Joel. 3 for the dealership as big guys were verbally humiliating Tyler on the floor during my interaction at the Store. So meh. Back to normal deership experience lol.Edit**. Threw in another year of oil changes. They arent so bad after all. Just feel like it took my low review for them to make it right. I have an 11 year old Hyundai Accent. I love this car and have taken very good care of it. I only take it to Hyundai for even routine maintenance because I trust the people there to do a good job at a fair price. Eric in Service really went above and beyond to help me this last time to understand what my car may need in the future as well as explaining what we needed to do now. I was happy with the work and the price was fair. I also love that they washed the car for me after servicing it. I highly recommend this dealership for Service.

Went in on black Friday and my salesmen Abbas was great! He let me test drive the vehicle and look as much as I needed and even put up with indecisiveness on colors. Abbas drove to and from their extra lot multiple times so I could see different colors/trims even during a very busy day where their showroom was jam packed! Overall I was in and out in about three hours. They gave me a phenomenal price on my purchase and a very reasonable/fair price on my trade. Overall I would highly recommend both Abbas and Elgin Hyundai! No buyers remorse here! Just a great car and a great deal!
This is the most unprofessional dealership my wife and I have ever dealt with. After unkept promises and ridiculously poor quality of work, the general manager, Mike Meha, told my wife and I we were lying about an employee smoking in our brand new car, even after another employee confirmed it. Even other employees commented on the GM’s poor level of professionalism. Avoid this dealership unless you enjoy dealing with headaches.

He guided me and my husband best way as possible to make our new Hyundai was processed easily. PSA!! NEVER GO TO ELGIN HYUNDAI!!!THE WORST DEALERSHIP EVER!!! This is the most unprofessional dealership I have ever been to. We bought a BRAND NEW car in June from this dealership and there was a paint chip on the back of the car. They said no problem and would get it fixed. The first time they fixed it in august they used a paint pen. It looked AWFUL!! We were told they would have the vehicle sent to a body shop for the panel to be resprayed. They finally called back and said they could fix it now (it’s November) so we dropped it off last week only to pick it up today with it being fixed WITH A PAINT PEN!!! I was upset but they told me they would fix it again but I would have to take my car back until they had time to fit me in. So we get in my car AND SOMEONE SMOKED IN THE CAR!!! I went back in to talk to the manager and he immediately had attitude. He came out to smell the car and look at the paint chip and told me they were not going to fix it and they were done with me. After screaming at me he then proceeded to tell me to go to hell. Michael Meah THE GENERAL MANAGER is the absolute worst. He was so rude and so unprofessional!! About a month before buying I stopped in to do a test drive and Tony helped me out. Being in the sales industry myself, service is key. David Kang, met that and then some. We took delivery of our new 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe on 05/15/2021 and couldnt have been happier with the experience. It took us longer to get to the dealership and test drive than it did to settle on lease that worked with our family. David was completely transparent throughout the whole process and was more than reasonable with negotiations. I couldnt recommend him more. Wasnt your typical car buying experience. We werent hounded by salesmen as soon as we started looking and when we were ready to talk numbers they were attentive and helpful. The entire experience was awesome. Abbas the salesman was a huge help and had a lot of great knowledge. Our finance manager Victoria really helped us out when it came to the warranty side of things. I came in to Hyundai with some questions about my dad that has on going medical issues and the first person that I came across was Tony which was more then willing to answer all of my questions and more then willing to help. he made my visit more then welcoming and worked with all of my needs that I needed with my dad. Tony was great and made sure he got everything done that I had asked of him. Tony was able to get my dad in a car that would fit for all his needs he then turned me over to Victoria which was great from the time I walked into her office made me feel more then at home and at that time I new I had picked the right place to come in for my dad she was so nice I forgot where I was and what I came in for. Tony and Victoria deserve a 100 stars and bonus if you need a car go in and ask for them they will for sure help you to there best ability.
My wife and I leased my Santa Fe from here in 2017, purchased it out of the lease in 2020 and just leased another Santa Fe just now and there is not another dealership I would go to. Our sales guy Elliott and the GM Mike were so nice and helpful and were very patient with us as we decided between the Palisade and the Santa Fe. I would recommend Elgin Hyundai to anybody looking for a new car.
Dishonest car salesman unfortunately once again ruin a pleasant car buying experience. We were duped into paying thousands extra for EXTENDED WARRANTY AND MAINTENANCE when signing the contract. It turns out the maintenance part is ONLY 6 times of oils change. Far less than what typically required factory maintenance. So here I’m at the15k mile maintenance and was charged near $400 for maintenance minors $30 prepaid oils change. Arrgh.
Toni was very helpful and kind and understanding. He listen to what we wanted and helped us to get a fair price. I would strongly recommend him for your sales rep. If there’s one negative thing I would say I asked for the vehicle to be ready to go when I got there and they still had work to do on the car, which made me late getting to work.
Bought a 2 year old car here only to find out that it had been a previous rental with 70k miles on it. On top of that, they “required” vin etching, for ~$400 which they said they could not sell the car without it- and then never even did the vin etching! Mgr was very rude to the point where i thought they would mess with my car if i brought it back in. Dont deal with these people, worst experience purchasing a car.
Agree with all of the one star reviews. Buyer beware. A used car listed at $21,903.00 quickly became a car that I was to pay over $28,000.00.A lot of very bogus fees I have never seen during any car purchase were added, including the Elgin Protect Fee (door edge guard, wheel edge guards, wheel locks, mud flaps, all season floor mats, accent striping, nitrogen fill). Guess what? There was no accent striping on this used vehicle, the car mats were the used, original carpet Hyundai mats (not all season floor mats) that the first buyer had bought, mud flaps come standard on this Hyundai model. I was told under no circumstances would this Elgin Protect Fee be taken off the quote.Also the price I was looking for was written down and I had to initial it. Never ever have I had to do this at any other dealership during the negotiation process of initialing on a document.I have been buying new and used cars for over 40 years. This was the worst car dealership tactics I have seen in my many long years on this earth. I drove 45 miles from the city for this scam artist dealership. What a horrible waste of my time. They will lure you in with their very nice Internet employees and then the shadiness begins.Do your homework and find a good dealership,they are out there. Verify all of the extra costs by comparing with multiple trustworthy dealerships. Ask the salesman and finance person to step away, so you can go over what the costs are. Look for these hidden bogus fees. Do not feel pressure to sign. Also do not buy maintenance and protection plans or any other plans., i.e.. ELGIN PROTECT FEE. This is all ways for dealerships to screw you.
I was looking for a new SUV and really liked the way the Palisade looked. I checked a few spots online and found a great deal on the website. When I called in, Michelle H. Helped me through everything I needed and we got to the price I was looking for! Once I got to the dealership Joel V. took care of everything I needed, and even helped me drop off my old since my lease ended. I really appreciated that as it helped expedite that entire process. Every question I had was answered in full, and he went into great detail about everything the SUV offers. Much appreciated to you both, and to the entire team!
The sales rep I worked with, George, was so patient. I came in 4 or 5 different times over a two-week period - each time with a different desire. He started anew each time, answering questions, searching for the right vehicle, giving me the time and space I needed to come to a decision that is right for me. I am excited about my new car and will definitely recommend him to my friends.
I bought my 2020 Santa Fe from Elgin Hyundai in December 2020 and a Sales Associate named Corey was very helpful and provided excellent customer service. I was not happy with their manager who was bit rude and not friendly while price negotiation, which as a customer I am entitled to. I visited the dealership again and met Corey who was extremely courteous and nice helped me with all questions.
My husband Jason and I purchased a new Palisade yesterday at this dealership. We were greeted as we were walking in the door, everyone was so friendly and pleasant. Tony helped us and he really hustled to get us out of there with our car as fast as possible because he knew my husband had to get up very early for work the following morning. The reason we came at the time we did ( early evening after my husband got off work) was because we had decided we wanted to purchase a new Palisade after doing a lot of research and I had literally just found THE ONE online at Elgin Hyundai and had called to verify it was still there because these things are selling like crazy fast! It was the exact one I wanted, the color, the AWD, the captains chairs, the gray interior, etc... I couldn’t believe our luck. He took us on a test drive and went over every detail of every feature with us. He was very attentive and knowledgeable and so easy to talk to. You can tell he enjoys what he does. It just felt like he was helping us not trying to make money off of us. Did not Badger us into unnecessary add ons. And Victoria (finance manager) was super friendly ,had a great attitude for someone who I know was under extreme pressure facilitating multiple sales and everyone continually needing her assistance. She seemed completely unfazed and unfrazzled but just the opposite, just so so nice and happy. Anyway, we are just ecstatic, with our brand new Moonlight cloud Palisade and the experience we had could not have been better. I will absolutely recommend them to everyone!!!!!!👍😁🤩🥳🚙

My boyfriend and I went in looking for a new car as he officially needed a new one. We were instantly attracted to the Sonatas sporty look and how comfortable it was. We were greeted almost immediately by a salesman named Tony, he was assisting another customer though so we were assisted by a salesman by the name of Dave (I believe). He was extremely helpful, answered all questions we had and was able to get us the best deal for the car we bought. We already went to some dealership but we made our final purchase here because Tony, our sales associate, was so convincing and also gave us a lot of tips. 2022-04-26I recently just purchased a Lexus GS 350. And as soon as I walked into Elgin Hyundai, me and my friend were immediately greeted by a Miss Katie Polite-Product Specialist. Instantly I felt welcomed. She offered a variety of the beverages to me my friend and I. And made us feel comfortable during this somewhat lengthy car buying service. She even put on her rain gear knowing it was pouringgggg for the test drive. Kudos to you for that! 👌🏽. There was one minor small hiccup where the manager quoted me at a higher monthly payment than I was originally quoted from a Miss Kate S-Internet Sales that we had talked about early in the week. So when they came back with their offer I was little caught off guard because the car had dropped $1000 in price but the quoted monthly payments wouldve gone up. But not being deterred I told her the payments I was comfortable with and 10mins later came back and we came to an agreement on terms. With a lower car payment! So huge shoutout to Miss Polite. Even made sure the car was cleaned on the inside and a full tank of gas before leaving the lot. So thank you so much to both ladies. Highly recommend that you check this place out. Had horrible service going over to Elgin Kia 3 years prior. Didnt even acknowledge that I had an appointment set up smh. So its night and day between the two dealerships. Overall a happy customer. He & the finance director stayed way after closing time to ensure that I was happy with my purchase & that I had everything that I needed before I would take the vehicle home. A friend of mine came to this dealer & purchased a brand new Genesis GV 70 from him as well. Tyler was very easygoing throughout the whole process; never once was I pressured into anything. He is very knowledgeable about the products they offer & explained everything into complete detail. I will definitely buy another vehicle from him again soon.

We worked with Emilio, and he was very kind and patient with my husband and I as we asked our questions and learned about our options. He was able to find the car we wanted and have it brought to the dealership. Emilio was great about keeping in touch with us the entire time, which we really appreciated! The car arrived earlier than the expected date, and it was washed, cleaned, and ready to go! Finance was great at communicating with us as well as giving us all of our options without a lot of pressure. Overall, we had an awesome experience here and we love our new 2022 Santa Fe!

2022-05-21We tried purchasing a vehicle here. The sales associate was great. Once price negotiations started is when things fell apart. They tacked on $3000 in market adjustments and two maintenance plans for almost $2000 each. $7000 total in up charges that the “manager” refused to remove or even negotiate. He flat out lied saying they order it like that and they can’t be removed. Didn’t realize you order the cars with oil changes, car washes, and ceramic coatings. Get real - this place is trying to rip their customers off. His response was he will find another customer willing to pay it. Good luck with that. Went to a different Hyundai dealer in Algonquin and had a much better experience. It saved us almost $8,500 compared to this stealership’s “mandatory” pricing. Best of all, we didn’t have to deal with the rude and disrespectful sales manager anymore. Elgin Hyundai not only lost a sale but any future business from me or my family.

He listened to what we were looking for in a car and got us exactly what we wanted. He was so friendly, kind, and helpful throughout the entire process. He really made us feel comfortable, and showed that he really cared about making sure we were happy. We also had a great experience with the finance department and Victor!
