Great restaurant! I’ve gotten to personally know most of the staff and they are all very friendly and enjoy joking and chatting with patrons! Very friendly and cool atmosphere, I love this place. And not to mention the enormous portions of food for modest prices! 5/5 stars!
Absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. Best salsa in town. Prices are great. Always seated fast regardless if theyre busy or not. Friendly staff, great service and food is always hot and fresh. They also make the best Amaretto Stone Sours

Took my granddaughter for lunch. Everything from the chips, salsa, and guacamole to our entrée was delicious. Best guacamole Ive had since moving here. Nice people too.
I saw all the good reviews so I went while passing through. They were super busy on a Wednesday night but the food did not take long. The queso cheese is good so order it with your free chips. I ordered the 3 steak tacos and the meet was excellent. Perfect size and lots of flavor. Tons of food for the price
Always very good but my meat is often more dry than I prefer. I think their homemade salsa is my favorite compared to the surrounding towns!

There are a lot of Mexican food places in the area, but el rodeo stands out for great service and food. Its a very busy place, but they do a great job at efficiently serving everyone with a great table turnover.
There was a drunk couple, kids running around, and her 1 year old crying not stop and the mom is trying to take pics of her for Instagram. An employee took and child, calmed her down and walked around and talked to her for a while. 👏👏👏👏👏 HUGE respect from me. I left him a decent tip. Oh, and the food is just fantastic.
As usual El Rodeo was very satisfying. The price is usually pretty good for the amount of food you get. The service is fast and the servers are courteous.

My daughter has treated me to El Rodeo a couple of times this last month. Delicious and I love, love, love their hot salsa and spices. She always gets the Shrimp Delight and enjoys their margaritas. I am a hella designated driver! Haha I have tried a couple of different items from the menu. Carne Asada El Rodeo is a favorite of mine! I will include pictures of one of our evenings there. I dont remember what I ordered, I will have to update later. They were delicious, though.

Service was fast... Food was great... Cheap prices... I ordered the chicken, steak, and shrimp build your own fajitas... It cost about $12.00... try not to get full off the chips and salsa though... I couldve made a whole meal outta that alone .. lol

The food I rate 5 stars! The service is 2. We had to ask for high chairs 3 times. He looked at us like we were stupid when we said we wanted a table for 8. Waited forever to take drink orders. And they were not that busy. All our orders came out at odd times, and some were done eating before others even got there food.

This is all you need for Mexican. I love the Nachos El Carbon. Been getting it for several years. Wife finds stuff, that will actually fit in with her diet plan (like keto). They are fast and will not ignore your needs. Just ask. They are dependable and dont seem to have staffing issues!!
Way over priced but the food was good but when the lady told me to come back in 30 mins my food was already done. I really dont like warm Mexican food. It seems soggy. I recommend that a pager system to help guest to know ur food is done so u can enjoy hot food and not warmish food and soggy. Just an idea but hey what do I know. Probably wont be back again.

I ordered on Mother’s Day because my mom really likes this place. I was told that it would be an hour and a half wait for take out. Which was fine because I know they are busy. I came at my pick up time and the lady asked me for a number, which I was not given over the phone and I told her this and she came back at me with an attitude and said we do give numbers over the phone. I then said what my order was and she couldn’t find it. I walk out because I was frustrated and then when I went back in I was told that they didn’t have it I then confirmed their number which was right only to be told that they still couldn’t find it. This is a place that I love the food from but I will not be back due to this experience.
I ordered a drink I told them it was horrible and it had to much syrup in it and instead of replacing it was the something not disgusting they told me they couldnt do that. Im a bartender server and this was the worst service Ive ever had. Ill never be back. They also charged my card with the wrong amount and tried to add a tip w.o my consent.

El Rodeo is an excellent Mexican restaurant in the Decatur Illinois area it is absolutely adored by many people and the staff they are very friendly very inviting and very clean as well so it is a definite recommendation that you pay a visit and give them a try it if you have not done so already. The food was excellent!! The chilli con carne was my favorite!! I can literally eat it every day. The chips were bland and not fresh and salsa was okay. We wanted to be seated away from all the big groups but the waiter didnt listen. Overall food was excellent. The waiter wasnt the best either my other half wanted beef and he put chicken lucky he said the chicken was good. Charged us for to go containers. Also upcharge $0.75 for something when I asked him to explain he was too hard to understand so I just payed it. He sat us at a dirty table when there were plenty of clean ones. 2 BIG groups of females beyond loud to the point where you couldnt enjoy your time there. They were talking all nasty. Wasnt given extra napkins. Floors were filthy

What more is there to say about this place? The food is fantastic, especially the burrito loco. The prices are great for the amount of food you get and the lunch special prices are even better. Ive been doing carry out since the pandemic started and have not had a problem once, the order is always correct and usually only takes about 10 minutes. Best Mexican restaurant in town
Our waiter was super nice, but VERY BUSY. The food was ok. I wasnt too impressed. The meat was pretty dry and a little on the bland side. It wasnt terrible, but could have been better

This has been a favorite place of mine since my childhood. In highschool, I used to practice my Spanish with the orders and the servers were always so friendly and willing to help. Its been a joy to watch them grow as a business through the years, and after years away at a time, its always the first place I request to go whenever I bring my own family that way for a visit.

CHILIRELENO SCAMERS! My husband and I go to a lot of Mexican restaurants. A few years ago we went here and my husband ordered a chilireleno but they gave him just a small pepper skin slice with a bunch of cheese. We didnt complain and though it was just a small mess up even tho it was disappointing. They may have gotten away with this with you too. Some time after that I ordered from here for lunch at work and ordered my husband a few chilirelenos to take home to him after work. They were the same tiny pepper skin slice with cheese. So I waisted my time and drove these slices back in to switch them out for real chilirelenos(cuz it had to be just a crazy coincidence mistake..no). Just for them to say that is a chilireleno NO! because even if I hadnt seen them correctly made at ALL other Mexican restaurants like El Corral, the actual definition if you look it up is: (a stuffed chili pepper that usually contains cheese or meat and is fried or grilled) A STUFFED PEPER not a 1 piece of pepper skin like they are serving everyone. I tried to give El Rodeo another chance last week despite the chilireleno scam they do, because the burrito was good. But we found that when the waiters saw we ordered waters and wanted to split our burrito they stopped trying and didnt give use refills even once. Despite that they were all distant in attitude with no eye contact or smile. not even a head nod. We always leave a tip when we go out but they were treating us like we didnt spend enough to get good nice service. I dont really know how much money they save with their pepper scam but Im never going back
Went here with my wife, usually mexican gives me the rhea so i should have known. But tonight after dinner the lovely lady was feeling very affectionate.. A tragedy ensued as she went down on me, pushed me back by pressing against my stomach and i sharted while she was giving me lovins.. A bit got on her chin.. Luckily she is an Angel and is currently snuggled up with me but it was an interesting night
My friend Tio who works there had us come in try out. Service and food was great but I saw how management treated him while we was there not cool made my otherwise excellent experience bad. My friend brought you in some business and thats the thanks he got smh
Need to slow down and pay attention to there customers! Screwed up 2 of our orders and took awhile to get anything. Bill came to $75 for 4 ppl before tip, be awhile before we go back. Food is good but the overall experience was not.

Have been going there for years for the hot and spicy burrito. My family and I went on Valentines Day last night and it was very busy, but the staff was very quick to seat people when they could, and clean up right after a table of people left. And our waiter was very friendly, joked around with us some. And we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. Overall amazing service and great food!
I was in Decatur on business this week and was fortunate enough to find El Rodeo. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Service was fast and they apologized for the (non-existent) wait on my food. The food was hot and delicious. Irving was a great waiter and brought me a to go drink. If you want great food and wonderful atmosphere, definitely go here!
They have the best margaritas in town. The staff is always friendly and the food is really good. Come hungry because the portions are very generous. They tend to get really busy but it’s worth the wait for sure.
Our service was excellent! Plenty of waitstaff on hand. They gave us copious amounts of chips and salsa. The food was served very quickly and everyone loved what they had. Their chicken taco salads are especially amazing! Excellent place to eat and would definitely recommend!!

This is not fine dining, but your basic Mexican restaurant. It offers quick service, a variety of margaritas, and chips and salsa on the table. The food is tasty and the servers friendly. My favorite thing on the menu is the chicken and rice soup. You receive a large bowl filled with rich, homemade chicken broth, loaded with meat. Its seasoned perfectly and has just the right amount of rice. Try it and you wont be disappointed.

I eat there often, prices are right, the staff is pleasant and helpful. Portions are large enough to share or take home. You can ask them to tone down the heat if desired on most of their menu items. They have the best margaritas and Im especially fond of the carnitas. Highly recommend. (Actually I shouldnt, the lines are long enough.)
Yummy Mexican food, festive atmosphere. Our waiter was funny too which is an added bonus. And the hubby got a beer that was gigantic! They do get crowded and sometimes there is a wait, but it is worth checking out.
The food was exceptional as was the kind and courteous staff. I can honestly say I cant remember using a cleaner restroom. I believe surgery could have been preformed in it as it was that clean and sterile. Well definitely eat there again and again..

Ive lived next to this place for many years, but never gave them a shot. Now Im going at least once per week. Customer service is amazing, even when they are very busy. The food is so delicious.
Food was just ok. The staff was incredibly inconsiderate of boundaries. Our entire meal they hung out literally right behind our booth and were resting their arms on the top of the booth right above our heads. If we were to have leaned back we would have hit their elbows. They were very loud and talking the entire time while using our booth as a hang out for the wait staff. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Staff was very impersonal as well.

I had a $140.00 call in order today. The manager was completely 100 percent absolutely flat out RUDE!! Told me i couldnt special order my food. I asked for no lettuce and tomatoes that was it. He said I HAD to order it like it was on the menu. He said to many complain so he doesnt take special request anymore. I asked him to read the order back to me to make sure he didnt miss anything since it was a large order and he LAUGHED in the phone because he was irritated i asked him to read the order back to me. I get my order back to work and We had MISSING stuff that I paid for!! This use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. NOT ANYMORE. MY BUSINESS WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN!!

I visited right when they were opening with an elderly lady. I understand wanting to fill the far side of the restaurant first but when I asked if we could have a seat in the main room so she didnt have to walk so far the waiter was clearly less than thrilled. The food was okay but I have had better & the portion was pretty small & no I didnt order from the lunch menu. Maybe it was just an off day for them.
I love this place everytime I go! The best Mexican food in Decatur that I have found so far. It was lunchtime and I wanted the lunch portion of my meal but I forgot to ask for that so I was worried she was gonna bring out the dinner portion and charge us for that but she did the lunch which was nice. Drinks were kept filled!
Ordered carry out and had a horrible experience. When I placed my order they would only let me order two types of pop with my order even though I was ordering their meal for 8 people. They forgot two of my orders and 4 of the pops tasted like they had no flavoring. When I called and told them about it they wouldnt do anything to make it right. Will not be going back.
Friday night stood in line waiting for table about 30 minutes. Waiter was efficient, food was excellent (great flavors), prices very reasonable. Great choice for dinner.

This is the spot to go if you want tex-mex style seafood in Decatur. I also love their white mushroom sauce chicken and carnitas. Staff is always wonderful when we go as well. Restrooms are always very clean. Its a very popular spot, but I encourage you to wait if it is queued as it will be worth it. Also worth noting are their margaritas which are strong and delicious!

I loved the size of their large burrito. Taste was excellent also, with an awesome cheese sauce. Chips and salsa always good, and they usually always have deals on margaritas. They make them right, so after one jumbo you are definitely feeling it.

The food was extremely basic. It was the same shredded iceberg lettuce and barely warmed canned refried beans that you always find at extremely cheap places. The only difference here was that they over salted everything to the point where the vegetable fajitas werent even edible. I literally couldnt eat more than a couple bites and neither could my companion.The food actually made me sick. I found random pieces of steak in my vegetation meal and Im one of those unlucky people who actually really cant process meat without seriously upsetting my stomach.The margaritas looked amazing but I didnt have one. I can only assume theyre the reason for all the positive reviews. The wait staff were attentive enough and polite enough but always seemed rushed.

Very tasty mexican food! I got one of the combos that had a burrito and an enchilada with rice and beans on the side. It was all delicious and plenty of food to fill any appetite. The wait staff was friendly and helpful and the margaritas are large and delicious.
This WAS a great local restaurant at one time . But within the past year has greatly gone down hill . They over charge for things that come with your meal , so beware and closely look over your bill . Take out is ALWAYS screwed up and they never want to fix it . Now they are charging for the takeout bags even !! A bill that would be maybe $30 at most if we dined in was $42 because we had carry out instead . That’s without drinks ! Thanks but we will find a New Mexican favorite in town !

Just not too impressed. When we got there the carpet looked Unswepted. The restrooms were not clean. The food was So So! The Ice Tea tasted like fish water. The waiters service was sub par. Not too impressed!

Is it possible to find good Mexican food in Illinois? Why yes, yes it is! El Rodeo has an expansive menu with plenty of reasonably priced options. The hot sauce was flavorful, the food delicious and the amounts plentiful. If you leave there hungry, that’s on you.
Despite what i have heard about this establishment, i have had outstanding service here. Staff is very considerate, aacurate, and treat you like family. The food quality is great too. This is a standard mexican latino diner. I would recommend eating here.

This will be the last time I visit this restaurant. Last time I went they messed up my order not once but twice. The cashier said because of my trouble i would have a Meal coming to me. I go into night to redeem the meal. And they refused to make good on their mess up. Next time I want Mexican it sure will not be here.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Decatur as of early 2017. The food is fantasatic. The prices arent bad at all. The service is great as well and everything is quite fast.. even on Friday and Saturday evenings when they are packed out of the doors. I was a long time el matador customer, then Mi Pueblito took over the spot and now that it has gone to the wayside..El Rodeo is where you wanna be at if youre looking for amazing Mexican food.

We waited along time for our food and when they brought it out all of our food was refrigerator cold! The female server was ride and asked us to leave and the gentleman tried to take care of it, but by this time we thought it was best to leave!
Food was excellent! Ordered, one thing and received another. But the waiter took care of it.. and it was quite crowded at the time. No harm. Ill return for sure.
My family and I we visit this place and I left very upset, with the men staff they speaking very bad words and very loud on the main room , my wife and my daughter they hear everything very clear, this people dont have respect for their customers, we will never recommend it, we wll never come back either.

El Rodeo is amazing! Due to the cold temperatures tonight my car wouldnt start when we were leaving and the servers cane outside to give me a jump even though they were busy with dinner rush.

I hadnt visit El Rodeo but once when they first open was not satisfied but on today I decided to try it again and I was utterly shocked the food was superb the serving size was over the top I could not finish I ate 1/4 and and ask for a to container to Go food with flavor ball and delish I will return soon

Too many of these locally-owned upstart Mexican restaurants are very similar, however El rodeo boats by and large unique Mexican authentic menu that Curry favor with all manner of pallets and tastes, I highly recommend this facility

2022-06-30Worst Mexican style restaurant Ive ever been to. I only went because my favorite place wasnt open in Decatur. This place was super busy, so obviously people enjoy it. But the chips were stale, the salsa had very little flavor and no spice. My plate came out and the chicken was cold and dry and it had cooled down so much before it was brought out that the cheese had become very tacky. The service was slow, and we only got one re-fill and the soda was way overpriced for only getting 1 additional fill up. The only positive I can say is that the server was nice enough to remove the charge for the plate I had. I will never give this place a try under any circumstances. I have no idea how they received so many previous accolades. The people who go there must not know what a good Mexican style dish is. Im not Mexican and can make better food than the plate I got.

2022-06-13Brought in a small group and got a seat instantly. The salsa and chips were excellent and the lunch options were plentiful.One of the people I was with got the steak fajitas and they looked amazing. I’ll get that next time I go.

2022-04-29Still great Mexican food. Very large portions and clearly a favorite in town due to the crowd. I have the fajitas Cozumel which has chicken, beef shrimp and chorizo with pineapple. Delicious. I recommend this place for a good affordable Mexican dinner.

2022-05-15Charged $14.45 for a beef tips dinner ($7.99) and a beef burrito ($2.99)??? Did prices go up because the website menu didnt reflect any price changes? Picked up the order 12 minutes after I phoned it in (live nearby) and it was room temperature at pick up... the plastic bag wasnt even hot! The rice and beans were very salty. Disappointed.

2020-10-31Oh what a great outing tonight! With less than 48 hours before the entire state of Illinois is locked down in regards to dine in eating at restaurants. Everyone and their cousins were eating out tonight. There was a lineup to get into the restaurant I was at shortly after I arrived.Great food, great portions, fantastic service and mind blowing low prices.The server brought me a to go box even let me take a whole basket of chips and good sized container of salsa on top of all my leftovers.I had some high end seafood Fajitas with shrimp and scallops along with all the usual onions and peppers etc.It also included a second plate which contained the rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream, Gaucamole and Pico de gallo.Bottomless Glass of Pepsi.Hell!, he even brought me yet another Pepsi in a Styrofoam cup with lid to go with my leftovers, chips and salsa.Whole thing cost less than 14 USD.I gave him 21 bucks USD so 50% tip.I also gave him a Canadian loonies, quarter, dime and nickel as well.Lol!It was beyond just a meal it was a remarkable experience to savour.I hope to return here at some point in the future when eat in dining is restored again to try something else on the menu!

2019-08-28Had my customary inaugural meal of 1 ground beef hard shell taco and 1 chicken enchilada. Salsa was thinner than most places Ive been, yet had more flavor than most places. Ground beef on par with most decent places, but I dont really recall the chicken flavor in the enchilada. Perhaps a better way to say that is the cheese on the enchilada distracted my palette. It was not a cheese sauce, just melted cheese; yet there I sat distracted by it. (In a good way) Opted for the small margarita on the rocks which was also pleasantly surprising. I dont care for overly tart beverages, and for a house drink this was better than most. Menu is expansive, so I took pictures to peruse later. Definitely recommend thus far though.
