DICKS Sporting Goods in other cities:
Bought something online. They added a random 2nd charge to my credit card for no apparent reason. They also started spamming me with emails when I specifically checked the no email ads box. Chat support quickly corrected the overcharge but it shouldnt have happened in the first place.
Great collection of sports equipment and accessories, but the personnel at the checkout desk was not very professional.I shop here for every sports need and had a rude experience today.I was buying a premium product and was asking if there were any store discounts......I was shocked when the person said, it is what I buy and should let him know when I was ready and he walked out of the counter.I didnt ask anything unreasonable....a simple answer like, we dont have anything now would have been fine.
This store gets more disappointing every time I go (which is not very often). You cant buy fishing or hunting licenses here anymore. Fishing department has been gutted like yesterdays catch. I didnt even see any firearms or hunting items. About all you can really purchase here anymore is clothing and athletic equipment, oh and dont forget tailgating equipment. 2 stars because the store is clean and the kid in the fishing department was helpful and nice.
Based on the fact that the Cubs won the world series, and weve continuously heard announcements on the radio regarding Cubs gear, a line was to be expected. However, I didnt expect Dicks to not have the few items that we went in for in stock. All in all, it was a decent experience, the lines (both inside and out) moved quickly.
Called about a product and got transferred 4 different times to them telling me they were out of stock. Purchased online and got curbside pick up and found some more on the store itself. Next time just tell the customers you guys are to lazy to go look instead of saying there are none in stock. The cashier know it was me Who called as well when I purchased in store.
Greg was very helpful and had strong knowledge on the products we were considering, also the manager was very accommodating. The items we were purchasing were very heavy and they had them already carted and waiting at the door where our vehicle while we were in line waiting to purchase.
I had a letter from GCI to exchange two chairs rocker chairs under warranty everything was great until we got to the cashier. Now GCI did not have direct replacements to the road trip rocker so I asked Molly at TCI if I could substitute a chair that was not a rocker. She said yes. Now comes to time to check out. I talked to the manager and they said yes they can help you can take care of me. I show them all the correspondence I had with Molly from GCI and said I just got off the phone with her and if she if they would like to call her to verify what I said they could so the direct replacement chair was $69.99. the chair I chose was $54 and change. But the manager went online and said your chair when you purchase it was only $50 so you owe $23. I said what!! I said maybe the chair was worth $50 2 years ago but the chair is now selling for $69.99. so why would I pay the difference from what I purchased my original chairs at and the substitute chairs. If you had the road trip rockers in stock it would be a direct exchange. When I went to call GCI again they said okay well do a direct replacement. This is how I feel I took a less expensive chair then I was turning in. I only took these chairs because we needed our camping chairs and any chair was better than no chair. So if the chair that Im turning in now cause 69.99 and I took a chair that was $54 and change shouldnt I get the difference? This is the logic youre cashing manager was exhibiting. Not very happy with the experience at your store.
I love the huge selection here and they constantly have the newly updated styles. The staff here has always been very knowledgeable. I just really don’t appreciate the markup in pricing compared to other places when I’ve compared a few items. Overall I’ll always shop here but at times can be more costly than other places.
The selection is awesome! The service is horrible!Went on lunch for shoes. (they do not keep the shoe boxes out, you have to work with an associate.) There was one person for the whole department. Going to the front desk to ask to have someone come help didnt do anything, no one ever showed up. There were six customers waiting, three of us left after 15 minutes. Went instead to the Crest Hill location and was able to find what I needed in 5 minutes...
Always enjoyed it even when it was Galyans. For the most part friendly and educated staff. Really any sporting goods or anything you need they have. Was a little disappointed with how things went at my last trip. But i also have to take into consideration that he was a young new employee and was doing his best. Other than that. Ball up!
I enjoyed the store but the employees didnt care to talk. I attempted to buy an item and was lied to about it being in stock. I stood in-store and ordered online because it said it would be ready for pick-up within an hour. I decided to walk around until ot was ready. I received a phone call that said it would be ready in 2-3 days! But an hour later I received an email saying it was ready. I called to check because I live 30 minutes away ( by then I was back home) I was rudely told I could not be helped and that they had to transfer my call. I explained the situation again and I was rudely told my item wasnt ready. I simply asked how would I know when it is ACTUALLY ready? I was still given an attitude. One asked for my information to check
I was shopping at the Dicks-Schaumburg at Woodfield. We were looking for basketball shoes for my son, and they did not have the size we needed. Jasmin, who was helping us, went over and above to offer us options- order online or call another store. She called a nearby store, waiting on hold for over 10 min. While helping me, she was also helping other customers. Her demeanor, friendliness, willingness to help, multi-tasking, and patience was astounding. Calling another store, on a busy Saturday afternoon, being one of the only ones working footwear... she was awesome. She was able to put the shoes on hold for me to go pick up. On our way walking back to check-out for our other items, my 10 yr old son said “mom, we need more people like her in the world”. I could not agree more. Jasmin went above and beyond to help us.
There were multiple racks of printed tanks and t-shirts marked $5 managers special. Only one design rang up at the discount. I mentioned it to the cashier and barely was acknowledged... I got them anyway. When I got home, I saw that one of my tops still had the ink thing on it.... Hoping to get back to have it taken off. Im also going to get a formal complaint to the company.***Update***. I had a GREAT experience when I went back to have the ink tag removed and correct the overcharges... Super easy and nice!!***
Had an unexpectedly great experience with the staff today. Bought a target that had a $10 cash back promo, but it seemed to be for online orders only. The manager was kind enough to apply it so I didnt waste a trip. I couldnt find a way to contact their customer service to say thanks. Overall I really felt valued as a customer as they went above and beyond.
HUGE store with very nice looking displays for just about every sport people commonly play (and some less common). The staffing seemed a little sparse though, at least when I was there, because I needed help reaching a product from a high up rack and no one came to assist me even with ringing the electronic customer assistance bell in that sales area. I ended up not purchasing something I wanted from there simply because I couldnt reach it.
Terrible location and service. Brought my bike wheels for do some tune up and new tires with tubes. Dude working at bike department was having fun riding back and forth on electric scooter. I asked him for service and he told me that they have no time at all because they are busy with customers.... Left me speachless. Never more this store for any bike needs. Highly not recommended.
This place is a nightmare. Staff ignored me. Even after I directly asked for help. Workers on their phones. The list goes on.I was also charged for an item I didnt have present. Had to wait three days for a refund on something I didnt buy.Being overpriced for Target quality clothing and protective gear doesnt help either.I strongly suggests that you avoid this store.
FRAUD activity at this location. I had $700 worth of items purchased online and picked up in this schaumburg store. When I called to let the manager know her remark was Ok and? When I asked about checking IDs on purchases and such large purchases she said nope as long as they have email confirmation for the order.
I am amazed at the variety of products sold at this store. I am not a big out-doors person, but my husband and kids like to buy stuff from this store. We go there occasionally and we always end up buying stuff from there. The products seem to be of a good quality but I find the price a little higher than I expect. I guess good quality does not come cheap.
Great selection. Has two floors. Loved walking around looking at everything. I think they are over priced on much of what they offer, and they really have dug themselves in a hole woth their objectives. I am not sure of what kind of future this franchise has. But they do offer allot of great things in one location.
The woman that helped my son find shoes was extremely friendly and helpful. Only reason that it wasn’t five stars was because we had to wait quite a while for her to come over to begin with because they were understaffed. But i think that is most brick and mortar these days - not really their fault.
There is no better place to get anything sports related. I always end up spending way much money when I go here, but thats never a bad thing when I see the quality of my purchases. This is the ultimate one stop shopping for anything relating to an active lifestyle. The location right off all the major highways is nice too.
The big box store of sporting goods. They pretty much have the monopoly since Sportsmart went under. Monsterous space stocked with gear for every sport, but as others have said the staffing is sparse at best. If you find someone they are helpful and if its not their specialty they will try to find someone who knows.Prices are higher for just about everything but every so often you can catch a good sale. Buy online/store pickup is the norm now for retailers but Dicks still needs to improve on how they manage it. By the time they locate whatever is ready for pickup might as well have walked around and got it myself. If you need something same day or its something you have to feel (like a hockey stick or bat) then its worth going. If you can wait 1-3 days, find it online for less.Plus for the Schaumburg store: they now have a batting cage that uses flight tech so you can try your bat right there and see results. Very cool idea, dont know if its seasonal or if its only for BB all year.
The store is decent, and the customer service is okay. The selection on the other hand is pathetic. It would be nice if they carried some small or medium sizes on some items. Not everyone is huge and needs large, extra large or double extra large. Just a heads up, there are some average people in America as well.
I went in here after having gone to multiple local bike shops in the area. I was well received by Patrick in the bike department and he walked my wife and I through various bikes and fitted me onto a bike. Not only did Patrick take his time to explain the differences and reasons for recommendations, he has a wide knowledge on bikes and ultimately wanted everyone to walk away with something that will last long (knowledge and bike!) Patrick was very patient when it came to answering all the questions and checked online for various bikes in my size. He also took time to check store around the area to make sure if any were in stock as well. After picking out the bike, Patrick proceeded to show me different applications of bike racks that would best suit my lifestyle and needs in the future. Patrick not only knew what was down the street but also knew what was around the corner! Kudos to Patrick and Jada who rung me up- She was super nice and patient. These guys know what theyre doing!
I go into buy a bike for my daughter because it was my turn to have her for the weekend and you know being a single father is hard in this economy. I had a middle eastern fellow help me. And I swear to you, Helen Keller could have given me better service. First of all, he called my daughter a boy. How stupid must you be to not see that my daughter was wearing a dress. Like come on, hes in his twenties and cant tell a little kids gender. Shes not even old enough to know gender identities but thats beside the point. He then goes off to tell me that the price is $200 more than the actual price and when I checked it it was less. Im sorry sir but I am not as stupid as you think I am. He goes off and tells me go listen to my poppin mixtape I dont even know what that means. I am a clean, white, suburban Lutheran trying to make my daughter happy on her new bicycle. Who ever that young man is, I hope his manager reads this and fired him for he is an awful excuse of a human being that will never make it anywhere near to far in life. And he needs to shower more
When I was here I saw no fewer than 3 groups of employees standing around yucking it up who quickly dispersed as I approached to ask a question. How do you have a million people working at the same time? And how is it that none of them can be flagged down, I couldnt make this up. Wont go back.
Literally took me 2 hours and 7 employees to find a simple headband. Each employee led me to the wrong direction until the cashier guy called someone to take me their. Thats the only reason its 2 not 1. Thanks to the cashier and dude that took me there, I got what I was looking for. But Im still mad that it took me so long just to get a headband.
Called for I formation on Cubs jersys! Drove 3 hours to pick up 3 $120.00 shirts. They said they had many in stock. When I arrived they had apx 10 with none of the players I asked for. Then a 3 hr drive back to Monroe Wi! Thanks for checking.... I will never come back!
This is the worst store in America. There is virtually no stock in the store. The golf section looks like a vacant lot. I bought a $75.00 golf shirt and a guy named Joe asked me if I wanted a bag? While he gave me my change he was joking with two other associates about who needed a break next. Go to Dicks in Lombard, what a difference.
Drive 25 minutes out of my way to purchase an item that was listed as available in the store .... Spent 12 minutes to find someone who would help. The person who finally came to help indicated the on-line inventory is 48 hours out of date and they have been out for a few days.Amazon would have saved me cost and time....
Helpful staff but not stocked with custom services where needed like customized jerseys etc. Had to order a customized Blackhawks jersey from a store out of state for my grandson. They did help me with that but was inconvenient for me and I had to pay shipping costs too. They need more services like that and their prices need to be lowered.

2022-05-16Lovely, large and lavish -- are the words that come to mind. Empty also comes to mind as i was surprised to see the store quite empty on a Saturday evening! Well stocked and presented departments.

2021-01-11It’s really a great and large store with plenty of parking. Very good selection of products, can order online at store if a size is out of stock, customer friendly with great service. Best customer service ever! Very knowledgeable and super helpful. A little overpriced compared to other places, but they have almost any sports gear you might need.

2022-06-19Dsg does not care about their employees. Sue from HR doesn’t help one with their schedule. Kita who is training to be a store manager is extremely rude. Good luck with a store no one will work for you!! They don’t recognize good employees and that’s a shame.

2022-06-19We bought a child bike seat from this location, clearly someone returned this item and the store didn’t even check what they put in the box. The instruction manual is for a bike rack (wrong item) and has a missing part!

2022-03-03Customer service sucks here. Used a card and it was stolen and it was used as a debit not credit and they wont return my item and give me my money back.. I dont want no gift card to the store. I want my money back. Disgusting. Get new management salt these stores because customers are always right not the workers.
