Country Donuts in other cities:
On Sunday mornings I drive almost an hour out of my way to get there fresh donuts, my favorites are the apple cider and the Boston cream, honestly I have never had a bad donut from country donuts, also there service is great, cars will be lined up around the building and you only wait maybe 15 minutes if that.
Sadly, a bad experience with customer service brings a bad taste to my mouth. Theres a young lady who is so rude. I come from a big family so I asked for 5 croissants and was met with a sigh, ughhh, can you place an order ahead of time for this many? We only make a certain amount and then theres none left for anyone else. How does that make sense, if you 15 in a day, whther they are from 1 person or 15 people, isnt that selling? How can I anticipate a craving for croissants ahead of time? I only asked for 5? Im sorry, I wont order that many but at least be polite about it.
The best donuts I have ever had in my life! I cant say enough good things about how delicious they are. They have a good variety of different flavors as well as the classics that are always good. Seriously I take 30 minutes out of my drive home just to stop by here and pick up a dozen every once in a while because theyre addictive!
THE BEST LITTLE DONUT PLACE AROUND. They make their donuts fresh every day, if you dont believe me go inside and watch them. The service is always bright and cheerful every day at 6am or 10pm. The breakfast sandwiches are filling but not to heavy. Coffee is flavorful and NOT BURNT like some nasty chains. I will 10/10 support this place over any other drive through coffee option.
Although I loved German chocolate donut, the glazed donut was a regular donut covered in empty promises and lies as the glaze. If I wanted a a diet donut Id ask for a diet donut. Sorry but its either 3 or 5 outta 5 you gotta earn the four by at least taking the effort. You had one job for this style of donut.
My mother used to work here when I was little, so getting donuts here is a rush of nostalgia. I had a better experience than my sister. She had asked for a half dozen of a certain donut. They gave her one and had her pick out five other donuts at random. It was a simple miscommunication, but my sister didnt want to be a bother. And it was a little surprising they only had two kinds of bagels. Weve been looking all over for onion bagels for my father, so country donuts was the first place we thought of. Obviously, its not the end of the world that they dont have them, it was just a surprise. Altogether, the donut quality and price it amazing, and if I could I would come here all the time.
Really good donuts. One specific quirk of this place is that they glaze the outer circumference of the donut rather than dipping the whole thing- I guess a good aspect if you dont like your donuts as sweet? They had a wide range of flavors in both donuts and coffee drinks and it was all very affordable.
Can’t say enough good things. The donuts are always fresh, Coffee is always perfectly brewed. One thing I would say is sometimes the teenage staff puts a little too much cream / sugar in, nothing wrong with that, it’s probably how they like their personal coffee to taste. I just have to remember to tell them a splash of cream and only a splash of sweetener. 👌🏽
I travel over 30 miles for these donuts. By far they’re the freshest thing, AND you’re supporting local business. The best selections too! I love coconut donuts, which not many places do, but they have TWO options for me!! This is the best place to get classic, fried, wholesome donuts.
Great donuts and friendly people, but 20 minute wait in a drive-through line at 9:15 on a Wednesday morning is not acceptable. Saw at least three cars pull out and drive away. If you’re not staffing your store properly to keep things moving, people will notice and stay away.
We were camping at Paul Wolff about ten minutes away. The kiddo woke up with the sun and I was in no condition to start the day. I typed in donuts near me and lo and behold, a local donut shop pops up. I mean, I like the orange and pink chain as much as the next guy, but I cant pass up a local donut place. We got a dozen donuts, all different kinds, and they were all great. If you need proof, consider that my kiddo ate the whole donut, not just the sprinkles and frosting off the top. Ive never seen that happen before. Good coffee, too. I wont even bother packing breakfast the next time we camp nearby.
Employees are either depressed or just not morning people. Donuts were ok but nothing special. Was not a fan of the apple cider donut. I gave them 4 stars because they had fresh coffee and available public restrooms. If I decide to go back Ill see what else they may have on the menu.
Cool place. Not many like it left. Food, huge variety of donuts and cheaper than corporate chains.-Perfect for kids or elders-Very busy with plenty of staff and fast service-Reasonable prices-Nice corner building with a drive thruOverall, my kids love donuts and they are easily satisfied here. Great plus on the small quart milks.
When you want fresh handmade donuts, you cant beat Country Donuts. They have a window to the kitchen so you can see the donuts being made. Be prepared to wait in line on weekends as everyone knows this place is the best. They also have muffins, brownies, and chili. Call ahead with large orders and they will have them ready for you when you get there.
Absolutely the best donuts out here these days, being a baker I can tell they make real donuts from about as scratch as you can get, if you like Krispy Kreme or DD 🤢 Do yourself a favor and support the local guy, because their donuts are 100x better than anyone else around!!! I’ll definitely be back soon!!!
I love this place. Best donuts anywhere! They have a wonderful array to choose from. I especially adore their apple cider donuts. They have both glazed and sugar-coated. The ambiance is fun. They have an old-fashioned counter with stools that twirl about. I dont know of any place like that that still has something that cool. Their coffee is delicious - again the best. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Anyway, drop by and treat yourself. You wont be sorry.
Country donuts has been a staple and family favorite in the Elgin and fox river region. The quality of the product is outstanding. Coupon and special offers are always available and updated. The only reason why I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because I have recently notice the service quality and friendly attitude is no longer there. I use the drive-thru option most of the time. In my last 4 times ordering I have been rushed, disregarded my questions, and felt like I was talking to a robot. It was unfortunate, and it gave me the impression of a school cafeteria.
Prices are low, half the price of DD and their donuts are awesome because they have multiple choices. From classic glazed donut 🍩 to chocolate coconut donut! Coffee and hot chocolate are great! They also have a few breakfast selections. If you get there in the morning you might find their leftover donut from the PREVIOUS day at 2.50 A DOZEN! So that way you know their donuts are always FRESH!
Good donuts, allegedly open 24 hours. I found the unglazed and old fashioned sour cream underwhelming. The blueberry bits in the glazed blueberry cake were oddly crunchy and its flavor kind of seeped into the other donuts. The glazed and jelly donuts are where its at, especially the vanilla cremes. Place seemed clean and fairly spacious for dining in, but youre getting a dozen to go, right?
Oh my dear lord. DONUTS!! I LOVE DONUTS.Whats better, is getting a dozenFOR 6.50! WHAT!Their fall selection is excellent, all the donuts I had were marvelous. I can guarantee I will be back before the season is over to get donuts for my crew. Keep up the phenomenal work at this establishment, I wish this business never goes away.
If you are going to get regular donuts then you can go anywhere like Dunkin but here I would go with specialty donuts and items. All in all good place to go but I would only go here if I was in the area as I drove 8mi to check this place out. Has a old diner feel to it so that is nice. Place was clean and the employees were helpful and prompt. I would focus on the specialty items if I were them. If not then make the regular donuts bigger to get people in. That would raise my review to 4 or 5 stars easily.
Its hard to stay away from this place because they make it too easy to get their delicious mouth watering donuts. They have a drive thru if you dont want to leave your car! Haha. Their donuts taste so good and fresh that I cant just have one! Im not usually a fan of coconut, but their German Chocolate donut (has toasted coconut) is awesome! So is the Red Velvet, Mint Chocolate, Honey Dip, etc. I have yet to have a donut that I dont like there!
Delicious! Love this donut spot. They have a large selection of donuts, along with a few cookies, muffins & other deliciousness. There is a counter and a few small tables to stay and have coffee or hot chocolate along with your treats. They also have a drive-thru window for a quick visit, but I have never had a long wait even it there is a line. My favs are the jelly & custard filled. But I dont think I had a bad one yet!
Been going here for years. Quality of service has gone down drastically. I stbin the drive though today with Noone in line and was told Ill be with you in a minute twice with noone in line. Also dont get greeted anymore when you walk in. You have to si and wait or ask for attention. Sorry guys takes alot for me to write these but today put me over the edge.
This location is much worse than the Crystal Lake location which has some of the best donuts you will ever try period. Plus that one is Nut free which is appreciated if you have food allergies. The donuts here are okay but are nothing special (still 1000x better than Dunkin) . I can recommend the pies and coffee which are amazing and worth coming back for. However if you want amazing donuts make the trip to Crystal Lake.
Old Country Donuts has some of the best doughnuts around, bar none. Their old fashioned sour cream doughnuts are fantastic, as are their creme filled doughnuts. If you get there at the right time, their day old doughnuts are a great value at $2.50 for a pre-boxed dozen. As long as you dine in, there are free refills on coffee, too.
This a great local restaurant full of people who work really hard trying to offer a better Donut experience to their customers. And they have succeeded! Their donuts are exceptional and taste better than other donuts. They have excellent coffee too, and they are open 24 hours!!!
This is the best bakery for the area. Its hidden in Udina, just west of Randall road on US Rt. 20. Cinnamon Rolls are always fresh and excellent as welk as almost anything on the menu. Last I was here they were making breakfast sandwiches also which I dont remember having before but they were awesome.
Very clean and friendly place. Good size staff behind counter waiting to serve customers so received immediate attention to place my order. We were a little disappointed in the taste of the donuts...given the rave reviews. They were ok, but the 6+ mile drive there (again, due to the reviews), past other donut/pastry shop alternatives, really doesnt warrant a revisit. Sorry...just being honest.
They have the best donuts ive ever tasted! The staff is always super friendly and the prices are amazing. Its perfect for stopping by before work and grabbing a couple dozen donuts or bagels for the team. I reccomend the asiago bagels or the sausage egg and cheese on a bagel.
First off I have to say that I really like country donuts, super delicious but the customer service I received tonight wasn’t as great as the donuts. I live by the midway airport area (literally across the street from the airport). I drove 1.5 hours/44 miles just to come to this location. I come all that way for the sugar raised donuts. I proceeded to place my order and I asked if there were anymore sugar donuts because I noticed the slot was empty (never have I seen it empty the other times that I’ve been in), the young lady assisting me said no that there will be more later at night. I asked if there was any way she could have some prepped since I drove such a long way. With a roll of her eyes she said “no, maybe you should have called first to see if we had some”. Now why would I call a donut shop to see if they have donuts? People/customer service skills are definitely lacking with that young lady. Still ordered what my daughter wanted, I paid and left disappointed. It’s sad to say but Krispy Kreme here I come, I’m positive that I won’t have to call them to ask if they have donuts.
Country makes their goods on premises, not in a huge factory, delivered frozen. Theres a counter and chairs to sit and read while enjoying expertly brewed coffee. The coffee beans and ground coffee are for sale. Very pleasant staff; quick drive thru and counter service.
Great donuts, breakfast sandwiches, pies, ice tea and open 24 hours. Good place to go for pies for your party. Their Apple cider is great and you can get it hot, cold or as a slushies. They also serve chili which is pretty good considering this is a donut shop. Definitely recommend.
Recently moved to the area and it is clear this is a community establishment; and for good reason. You can see them make the donuts onsite and they are open 24/7/365 - no exceptions meaning you always have fresh donuts. They have a large variety that covers the kids (air filled rings and long johns) and some of the tradtionals (ol fashions, fritters, etc.).This is definitely the place to go for donuts in the Crystal Lake area.
Every 6 months I order a very large order for my company. Because this is an Elgin business I want to support the locally owned. However, after this mornings order we may now have to change. This is the 3rd time that our order was wrong and directions not followed. When you have a company of over 200 people on 1 shift it is difficult to explain this continued mix up.
This is a common stop for coffee and a snack. Affordable, friendly, and fast service. The donut selection is different yet similiar to the big chains. Only wish I have is that they had an XL iced coffee. Other than that this is the last good stop before Sycamore going west on RT 20.
Service is ok. Yes, just ok. But if you dont care for their service the drive thru is perfectly fine. Truly delish donuts. We have to go here as a special occasion or only when out of town guests are visit because the kids will gobble them up the same day! Both locations are equally as great!
I had either called or stopped in nearly every weekend since February, to see when they would have lemon donuts. Every time I was told they didnt have them yet. Every time I asked when they would be making them to get a different answer every time; after March, after lent, spring, so on. Could never get a more specific answer. Then mid April I call, one week after stopping by to check, Im told they stopped making them this year because they ran out. I asked when they were being made, and was told weeks ago when I was calling and stopping by. The staff doesnt know when seasonal things are offered and will lie to you instead of finding out the right answer.

2022-01-12Lots of selections to choose from here! I thought the donuts were good. Coconut donut was my favorite. Easily crumbles and has good flavor. Pricing is great as it was a little over $22 for 2 dozen donuts. The staff was delightful that I came and visited and helpful in making a decision. Their is a drive through if you dont want to go inside.

2022-04-07Fantastic donuts! Moist and fresh tasting. Went at 9pm on a Wednesday night. I had the cherry filled chocolate frosted donut which was generously filled, a chocolate glazed, and a lemon cake old fashioned. All were delicious! I also had a white chocolate pecan cookie which was amazing, big and chewy and sweet. Excited to visit many more times and try many more flavors. I doubt you can go wrong with anything you try at this place. Paid under $5 for 3 donuts and a large cookie. Great value for the price in my opinion.

2021-06-04This little shop of awesomeness was recommended by a friend. The shop itself is very unique, transporting you back in time as you walk in like you were walking into an old diner. The girl working behind the counter was very helpful, and talked about each donut. Got 4 donuts for the kids, and 2 stuffed ones for me. All of us simply said, wow. It’s amazing how foods that are the same, can taste sooooo different from place to place. If you need donuts, you need to stop here. They were delicious!

2021-10-26Great fresh donuts all day all night. They also have your basic breakfast sandwiches that can be made in on English muffin croissant or a bagel. I get their sausage egg cheese and bacon bagel. I tried their chorizo sausage once and I wasn’t all too impressed , probably because I was hoping for a spicer sausage. They always serve them warm!

2022-06-05Nothing special about them but they were good. Of the ones we had, the apple cinnamon and the cinnamon were the best. Open 24 hours on drive thru, until midnight in lobby. Were stocking fresh donuts at 8 PM.

2022-05-23Delicious, varied selection of donuts, muffins, etc. The staff seems to run like a well-oiled machine: efficient and accurate. Cute 50s decor, and a busy place! Fun stop when were in the area.
