Costco Wholesale in other cities:
The hearing aid department at Champaign store is very professional with outstanding service. Matthew and Jeff are devoted to assisting their customers without applying undo pressure to buy. I believe that Costco should be very proud of this department and to the gentlemen that run this department. They take the time to listen to the customer. My hearing aids are the best I’ve ever had. Thank you Matthew.
We had a great experience with Matt at the Hearing Center!!! Matt is well spoken, easy to understand, extremely polite and very helpful! Excellent customer service from Matt & Deeanna! We are very excited about the hearing aids which capabilities far exceeded our expectations. Its the reason we joined Costco and its worth it!! The hearing aids cost is less than half of all the major lines and the quality is top notch! Thanks to our friends who shared this great deal with us!!!
I am very sad that this store and manager are still refusing to accommodate kids with special needs by not offering Caroline’s carts. As a mom with 3 little kids, it’s already hard enough to go grocery shopping with them. I can’t image parents trying to do it with a child who needs more (yet simple) accommodations. This particular store and manager’s response doesn’t create an atmosphere that champions and includes everyone. It doesn’t say, “Hey, we are so glad you’re here.” It says the exact opposite and it’s so disappointing. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
Save $$$$ while getting Great Service at CostcoIm a long time hearing aid user and offer the following info based on my personal findings having bought five pairs during the last 25+ years. There are currently FIVE hearing aid manufacturers on this planet - that right - FIVE! All aids come from these five producers and are available from a variety of variety of retail sellers including local hearing aid stores with their brand names on them. These brands are those you frequently see in advertisements on TV, in newspapers, and mailings to your home. Aids are also available from medical related facilities, other retail stores, and on internet sites. Some Costco stores also sell hearing aids. I started using Costco eight years ago because because the price was thousands of dollars less for essentially the same product. I just bought my second pair from Costco and found the same savings - $6000! I paid $2000 instead of $8000! Costco handles high end models from several manufacturers that are sold for significantly less than at other stores. They also have their KIrkland brand made for them at at an even lower price point. The service I get at Costco has been great and the followup care, adjustment, and service are included at no additional charge. The staff at Costco is very customer service oriented and and I have only good things to report about my experience with Costco hearing aids!
I always love coming to Costco. So much stuff and I could likely wander around for hours and end up spending 💰 I probably dont need to spend. Probably more for family 👪 or multiple people in a household but when I shop there I end up not needing to shop again for months
I have been pleased every time I came to the store. Everybody is pleasant, it feels like they give Xanax at the door. I have no complaints (and trust me I am someone to complain).Every single time I come to the store since I’ve had my membership I have been surprised, pleasantly surprised with the merchandise and the service that is available. You guys rock!Keep your employees happy and you will keep your customers happy.Keep your vendors happy and you will keep your customers happy.I wish you guys many more years to come. This company is an asset to Champaign Urbana.I am so glad I don’t have to shop at Walmart for my purchases.I take care of my aging parents and a couple of teenagers, and this place makes shopping fun.I do wish the portions were a little bit smaller on some of the perishables.
Costco management has chosen to ignore a group of local disability advocates requesting adapted shopping carts for children with disabilities. There are many stores that offer adapted carts nationwide, including other Costco stores. I encourage others to choose stores that are inclusive and welcoming to all families.
My husband Marvin Rethelford needed new hearing aids. He chose Costco in ChampaignJeff was the technician that he met. He is very thorough and is professional and knowledgeable. Marv has had his new hearing aids for about three weeks and loves them. He is hearing sounds that he has not heard in years. If you need new hearing aids he highly recommends Costco
Finally we have a costco in Champaign. This is not as big as the ones that are located in Chicago area but worth going. We became a member since 2016 and had to drive all the way to either Indianapolis or Chicago before this local costco opened. It definitely saves us so much time if we want some regulars. However I take one star off because imo they should better trained their employees. Obviously they were not familiar with costco and are new to their job. We had bad experience in the customer service center. I was waiting for over 20 min with my two little kids(1yr old and 3 yr old) when there were less than 3 customer in front of me in a none-busy time. The employee had no idea what they should do and how to do typical things like how to process a return from online/other costco purchases.
I was a little disappointed with Costco. I came in to buy a pan set ($199) with my mom. I didnt have the cash so she was going to write a check for the amount. Unlike at Sams Club, this is not permitted. Since she does not have a membership, they would not accept her check. The whole point was not putting the purchase on my credit card which I ended up having to do anyway. Strike one for Costco, bonus for Sams Club!
I enjoy shopping at Costco and most of my experiences with the store and Cafe have been good to very good. However, I strongly recommend against their tire center. I had to go outside to my car three times to get them the year, make, model, sub model, and tire size. I just didnt go back in the last time. Just making the appointment on the phone was a challenge. Its like they didnt want to change my tires.
Very happy with the check outs. Three full carts in front of us. We were checked out and eating our wonderful hotdogs in less then 5 minutes. Last week I stood in at Sams for over twenty minutes and the line never moved. A fine job by the three employees at each full service check outs. Costo your in! Sams your out
Over all this is a good store, good prices and selection. The department that makes this two stars instead of four, the tire department. My wife and I both bought sets of ties here and they did everything possible to screw up both orders! In their defense, they did try to make it right, but the installation of both sets of tires pretty much canceled that out. My advice, if you need tires, go elsewhere and save your self time and aggravation!
A decent selection. Some of the made on site items are not very good. Bought the Korean bulgogi is an example. Bought it once and it was pretty good. Bought again the meet was terrible. It has a lot of fat and gristle. Spent a lot of time trying to trim it off very difficult since it was very slippery. I thought maybe it was a fluke and so tried it again. Nope, the same.Prices have seemed to gone up quite a bit as well.
Plan to walk at least 1 mile if you check out all of the aisles.Bakery items are freshly baked. You may get a warm baguette if you get there early in the morning.Produce is very good and tasty.Cons..aisles aren’t marked with product lines. The use of plastic containers is over the top, very large and some aren’t recyclable. Good idea to split the purchases with a friend since it is wholesale and bulk foods.
General Shopping Experience: The staff is always so friendly when entering the store and always willing to help find whatever you are looking for.Tires: I ran over a nail, and the auto people that I dealt with were so friendly and helpful. They offered to help right then and there. I loved that they showed me exactly what was going on with my car and even taught me a few things. The two gentleman were exceptionally well versed in customer service. I wish I grabbed their names .. but both were there on Friday 4/9 in the afternoon. All in all- great experience.!!
My friend Carol and I had a lovely afternoon once again spending it with the employees and customers of Costco. We ran into an Hispanic gentleman who did a GREAT JOB prompting us to the fresh raspberry crumble cookies! Delicious! But our cashiers were really great and fun and made us older ladies feel pretty 😎! Thanks girls! Go and go often!!
Seems to be a general sense of employee’s doing whatever they want. Where was management? Man pushing water delivery sales at exit seemed to criticize and harass Costco consumers as they left with purchases of the Costco bottled water. Check out employee chose certain customers to accuse of having “missing items” and continued to “count” items in cart multiple times(3) before letting them exit store. No theft….just accusations. I’ve been to other Costco’s. They seemed to have a better atmosphere and sense of professionalism and pride. It felt somewhat like a hot mess. Where are the company wide standard operating procedures? Currently waiting on a return conversation per online chat, we’ll see if there is a response.
Great customer service. I asked a customer service representative if I could store my knee scooter behind the counter so I could use the electric accessible cart and she was happy to assist. She brought the cart in for me to use. The cashier and staff throughout the store were very friendly and helpful. Good price/value on the items(food and houseware)I purchased.
I was expecting more. The meat costs more and not as good as Sams, the organic minimal. The sampling staff has not been sampling but gabbing as we waited in line for no staff at customer service. Cross training is not a new concept. And why were most of those sampling/ gabbing attractive young ladies? Hmmmm
Some of the aisle organization feels strange, but Im sure they have their algorithm/reasons for it. Employees were incredibly helpful whenever we had to ask them where items were. As always, excellent selection of fruit, vegetables, and meat. Worth the membership if you can use the bulk.
Great location. Clean handicap friendly parking lot. Brand new great working and high charged electric carts for handicapped.Great food at kitchen at very cheap prices.Great deals on merchandise.Forget Sams Club and come here.Free nitrogen tire filling stations for members.
My husband just went back for his follow up appointment for his new hearing aids at the Costco Hearing Center in Champaign, Illinois. He is really happy with the hearing aids and the customer service he received during our inquiry, testing, purchase, fitting and follow up. Everyone was so nice and very knowledgeable. They made the whole process very easy. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking hearing aid service.
I had my first experience with Costco optical department today. They were a little short-staffed but Elizabeth did a nice job explaining the options and managing the people that needed help. They had a pretty good selection and I got two pairs (one regular and one sunglasses) with an exam for under $400! Only a week before they are ready, I’ll report on the process after I pick up my order.
Management at the Costco Champaign location is seriously lacking. I can see that a few people have noticed this and its not just me writing this review. What is baffling is that Costco continues to keep their incompetent managers without regulating the management and their attitudes towards the customers as well as the staff working under their management. Costco does not seem to value their customers nor their employees experience, especially when ethical concerns are pointed out.Apart from poor management I have no other complaints. I understand that we are in a pandemic, but this is no excuse for terrible leadership. I appreciate the great job done by all of the staff doing their best to deliver. You all honestly make your managers look good. HR needs to reevaluate their hiring process and their lack of ethics.Thank you essential workers. 🙏
Went there for one thing in a emergency situation. All ill say is woman issues. It was the only store nearby and was walking. Walked the whole store just to find the item in need just to find out at register you MUST be a member to buy anything. I guess my money is different from anyone elses. Its a store not a country club. Not a happy moment. First time in one and will be last time. Shouldnt have to pay someone just to shop and spent more money.
New tires shopping and I visited Costco in Champaign and was blown away with the Salseman Luis R. This young man actually gave me a lesson on my new tires. And the benefits that came with buying a set of new tires was great. It was a win win for me! I was going to go to another place to check price but realized my time wasn’t worth running around looking . The benefits alone was worth my money and Luis was worth the time! Thank you for the great energy and a great knowledge of your areas of work!
Lots of different options when compared to Sams club. Some items that are identical to what is sold at Sams are pricer but some other items not sold at Sams are cheaper. It balances out in the end. Staff were friendly but not knowledgeable on products they sell. For example, Baby car seat combo, exist on store shelf but staff says it doesnt exist. We bought one anyways after wandering around the store unassisted. Also its no where near baby stuff. Its opposite side of warehouse currently. Maybe in time staff there will learn to at least check inventory logs or radio coworkers, instead of just saying no. Kind of poor for sales to be honest. Still a lot of fun to shop there though.
I love Costco. Out trip to Cisco is the highlight of my month. It’s the only place I know to find Aussie Bites, which I have eaten for breakfast every single day for years. (I even pack them on vacation.) Their baked goods are super-fresh, they always have great prices on berries, and my wife and I have been known to end our trip with a stop at the food service line for a 1/4 pound hot dog and soda for only $1.50 and call it date night.
This Costco fails in comparisons to other Costcos I have visited in the past 15 years as a member. Today a supervisor half listened to what my situation was then left promising to return in a moment. 10 minutes later I was still standing therewith people all around me filling out credit card applications, but everyone seeming intent on avoiding helping a customer with an actual issue. The management at this location needs to be sent to Arizona to see how to properly do their job.
After I accepted the fact that my hearing was a problem, I began doing research on the internet and learned about the hearing aid services at Costco, which had been recommended by many, mainly for the pricing. Next, I decided to have a hearing test ay an audiology doctor. Then I joined Costco specifically to use their hearing aid center. The results of the Costco test (which was more thorough than the doctors) were the same at both places.I decided to purchase the ReSound hearing aids for less than half the price of similar devices from the doctors office. Along with his awesome customer service, I was very impressed with the knowledge of Matthew, my audiology specialist. So far, I am very thankful for the new sounds Im hearing, am happy with the purchase of my rechargable devices that are paired to my I-phone, and would recommend the Champaign IL Costco hearing aid center! (You must make an appointment; they are busy!)
I really love this new Costco. I want to love it more, but on two out of four visits, including yesterday, February 22, at least two customers were confrontationally NOT wearing Corona masks and looking for trouble. Other shoppers were giving these not-mask wearers like a quarter of the store just to avoid them. Management was running around looking for them, but I was a little surprised because I have only seen this type of behavior in Walmart. The optical department has staff with the best credentials in Champaign, and that section is completely attuned to Covid safety (optical is in the opposite corner from the mask-arade show). This is a super nice Costco. Its just being weirdly attacked by anti-maskers late in the game.
This review is for the Hearing center. I am very pleased with the service, , cost , and all around knowledge. Mathew took the time to address all my needs and concerns. With that being said, I am hearing high frequency noises that I haven’t heard in quite some time. If I could I would give 10 stars.
The GM Dan (employee number 1988) has proven himself to be lacking in customer relations. Disrespectful and dismissive are just a couple of words you could use to describe this gentlemen. Ive had better service at Walmart. First time ever inside a Costco and Im already considering canceling my membership.
Visited Champaign for a specific item that was already sold out in all Chicagoland Costcos. I was very impressed by the quality of customer service I was provided with. Dan, Scott and Roger were extremely helpful and professional. They went above and beyond in making sure I left there with what I went for even if that meant taking the display items, wrapping up and loading in the Uhaul truck I rented. Champaign Costco should be a model for all Costcos. The ladies bathroom smelled and looked extremely clean. Many times when I shop in a Chicago Costco I cannot find one single employee to ask for assistance but in Champaign there were plenty available on the floor! Overall great experience here, too bad it’s a 2.5hr drive.
Came today to get some basics for home didnt expect to see unprofessional worker I watched a tall shiny head man in a Costco vest :employee: scream at a small girl who I I think works there too. Poor girl was visibly upset THE MAN SHOULD NOT WORK THERE THIS IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL SHOULD NOT BE YELLING AT WOMEN OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER
Dissatisfied with the manager Dan. This man has the worst customer service Ive ever come across. Asked him if they had anymore of a product that was out. He said seemed a little annoyed that I asked him of all employees even though he was the closest to me. He said Ill go check. 10 minutes later he never came back. Spotted him across the store chatting and laughing with co-workers.
My first consumer experience with Costco was the optical dept. The ( independent) OD was great. The support staff people out in the area where you buy frames and lenses were outstanding. My new eyeglasses are great. I’m old and I use traditional trifocal lenses. Not progressive lenses. This is the first optical vendor that did not attempt to talk me into progressive lenses. (I’ve tried in the past and nooooo worky for me). An exam, one frame and lenses and another set of lenses for my old frames, all lenses trifocal , all for under four handy US. Outstanding value. Outstanding service.
Costco.com online support is useless. Ordered something, they said it was delivered. It was obviously delivered to the wrong address. Costco would not even do anything without a Police report even when the package was not stolen. Will never order from costco again and will be canceling membership.
This is a new comer in the town. It has been doing a good job since opening. The proof is Sam customers, and the around grocery stores are attracted to Costco. Its clean and its new. Membership is 60% cheaper than Sams. There are fish here which are good for fry and anything else that you like. That includes a whooe fish which is cleaned, but not filleted yet. That is good for so many Vietnamese soups.I also come here for garlic which is the cheapest in town.It had its potential, so hot items are run out frequently, such as the pink fish I talked about. It also stocks tasty fruits like Fuyu persimmon which is not available anywhere else in town, except in some asian stores. Quality is good, but price is high. It also stocks chestnut 🌰🌰.I hope the managing team will keep up with their strategy. They understand the demographic of Illinois and its needs. I think this is the first time I see a supermarket selling so many Asians items. And you know what? Those items are sold out fast here in Champaign.
Brand new Costco! Everything looks clean and fresh since its brand new. Theres some solid deals, particularly in the deli and meat section. Unfortunately there are no yoda plushies as of 10/25/20. But there are other disney squishmallows like chewie and minnie mouse. Theres also an 8 foot beat for 180 bucks. There is also A5 wagyu beef for 99.99 per lb. Lots of sanitizing stations and they sanitize the shopping carts. Lots of workers that are super helpful. For the most part, people wear masks here, properly too. But there is some difficulty social distancing in the main aisles. Also I was able to walk in as a group of 5 with one member card.
EVERYONE GO TO WAL-MART INSTEAD! Some of the past comments it seems as though management is seriously lacking. I was in here the other day and confused on where to find anything. First person I bumped into introduced himself and when I asked where a few things were he proceeded to point at the signs and told me to read.

2022-02-08Incredibly pleasant staff at the membership/customer service counters. Very efficient door checks in and out. Cashier was exceptionally kind and did a great job while giggling and smiling with my two small boys.Organization of the center section of store was a bit chaotic, but I suppose that is expected during November and December.Im happy to be an Executive Member here. The rewards program with cash back has paid for itself in a very short period of time.Update: I highly recommend weekdays before 5pm

2022-04-16Customer service at this Costco is HORRIBLE! And the efficiency for self check out is at an all-time low. Return services also sucked. But it’s the only Costco in this area so beggars can’t be choosers.

2022-03-29Good prices are available. Most food items are packaged too large for my needs so I dont buy a lot of food there. I do like the wine selection and whole bean coffee selections/prices a lot!I have purchased two mens wristwatches there in the last six months. They dont have a big selection but they seemed to have two that I wanted (one was a gift). They seem to have a culture that is good for the employees.

2021-11-02This Costco is fantastic, I’m amazed how small the crowds are. Most impressed with many regional offerings as compared to my Costco in Tampa. Getting gas is super quick, very few lines .

2022-02-03Recently purchased my first set of hearing aids. Could not have been more impressed or pleased with the experience. Jeff, my audiologist, was wonderful. If you are thinking you might need hearing aids, you need them. My set has been life changing for me. If you are shopping around, stop and go see Jeff at Costco. You will be happy you did.

2022-02-06I love this place. Everybody I know loves this place. I make back the cost of the annual membership in two months. The only real downside, for me, is the lack of variety in produce. I stop at another grocery store for the produce that you usually find sitting out in the help-yourself bins, like fresh cauliflower and whatever.

2022-04-16Costco hearing aid center is the best! The customer service is beyond phenomenal, and the products are top notch. Jeff explained every feature of the aids and how to use them in great detail and answered every question I had. A bonus is that these aids would’ve cost double at any other retailer. Highly recommend!

2022-03-01Love my new hearing aids. High tech, high quality, easy to use at about 1/3 the cost of other comparable products! Customer service is the best, availability in person or virtually. So happy I switched to these Jabra hearing aids at Costco.

2022-03-31We have asked this Costco to join Target, Sam’s Club, and 36 other Costcos in providing a cart for kids with disabilities. The management has continually said no and even had their legal team send me a letter expressing that they legally do not need to provide the cart to meet ADA requirements. I love so many of the items Costco offers and would love to see them grow in their hospitality towards all families, Of course they are not required to, but I would love to see them have a change of heart and choose to purchase this $800 cart not as a requirement, but as a way to communicate that they are happy to make shopping at their store accessible for every family that comes in.

2022-02-28Convenient place to get access to items or services all in one location. Prices are competitive even for bulk purchases. My main reason for maintaining a membership is that Costco supposedly offers fair wages and benefits to their employees.
