Very good at observing the rules for 6 apart. The best part is they have patio seating which was great to sit down and eat the Veggie English Muffin they had. I could not tell my muffin sandwich was even veggie because it tasted like meat and it tasted good so Kudos to you guys for that feat. Their mocha was delightful and light especially since it was iced and it seemed most their eating ware (i.e. the plastic cup and fork and such) were compostable or recyclable which is even more amazing. Ill be coming back.Oh yeah, the cash clerk was friendly and great in answering the questions I had.
Got my order wrong. I wanted to love this place because they had a couple vegeterian friendly options. As you can see, I ordered the Impossible burrito, but as it turns out, the person who prepared my order must have been spacing out as I got a muffin instead. Not even sure if this was even the meat free one either🤔. I decided to just eat as I had already driven off the location. I really have to start double checking my order because apparently its a hit or miss with these things!
Every college town has its go-to haunt. Its been awhile since Ive gotten off at the familiar Davis stop. The vibe at Colectivo has always been chill and inviting. A decent size space, it can be great for small group meetings. There were outlets available in all the right places, and the tables Nd booths were just the right size for a laptop or a tablet, with a drink or food nearby.Although the coffee can tip towards the expensive for a small cafe, the eats are delicious with great portions, at reasonable prices. The service was solid, with Colectivo employees also serving as servers for food orders. Ill be stopping thru again!
Truly overrated. I don’t see the big deal. Very strangely described menu. Very strangely assembled selection. Everything is more expensive than can be found at other cafes in town. Also, people come and sit for hours and it’s often difficult to find seating. I never come here unless it’s at the insistence of someone else.
This is probably the best Colectivo Ive been to so far, though I havent been to all the city ones yet. Ive been to various Milwaukee locations and the one in Logan Square. This location is clean and has lots of seating. Lots of people are doing work here. I got the Bloom Latte and tried the mocha, which was better than others Ive had. I will return for food and other fancy drinks.
I like this location for studying/reading. It’s not very stuffy inside, plenty of spread out seating. They’ve also got outdoor seating. My fav is the London fog. I like that they offer single shot latte in a size smaller than your average 12 oz small size. I’ve tried the veggie burrito (eggs, cheese & broccoli/potato) and liked it.
Colectivo has a good variety of baked treats and drinks options that are much more exciting than your typical run-of-the-mill coffee shop. Im a huge fan of the cool design vibe of their Lincoln Park location, and much of the same design cues have been brought over here. You will always find the place packed with students, most of them wired in and working with their headphones on, and because of this the vibe is less of a social one. Nonetheless, the drinks options here are great and I occasionally enjoy changing up my coffee routine for a matcha or marsala tea latte instead.
I stopped to get a almond latte and a chai latte for my wife. I had to wait because three other people were in front of my order. After a long wait I got my coffee, no chai. I asked the barista for the chai and she said sorry, two other orders ahead of yours. But I ordered it and paid for it with my coffee. Why couldnt she just admit that she did not pay attention to what she was doing? I do not apreciate things like this. Since I am venting today, let me ask this question that maybe others dont have the guts to ask. Since when does every cafe or eatery need to ask for tips at the cashier counter? We pay a fortune nowadays for a cup of coffee and the owners of the store cannot pay enough to their baristas? Why do the customers have to subsidize the cashier or baristas salary? As a customer it makes me feel like I need to help but after spending $12.00 for one medium coffee and a small chai, I really dont feel like giving my money in a tip jar. I prefer to give it to the homeless outside the store.
The food and beverages are top quality. Ive recently had the pleasure of sitting inside after 18 months of not going inside because of the pandemic. Even though it was a food establishment and folks were sitting with their masks off while drinking and eating, I was pleased to see that when folks were not eating or drinking, several of them had their masks back on.
It was our very first time trying this and I’m telling you, you’re better off drinking gas station coffee cuz I’m sure you’ll get better service there. They don’t even clean the tables and roll their eyes when ask to clean the table. I ordered an “impossible” burrito which had one SMALL piece of the impossible patty and the rest of the burrito was filled with JUST egg and they charged me 9$ for it. This place is a frikkin sham. Do not go here if you really care about your money.
This was the PERFECT meeting place for my co-worker and I to meet in person for the first time in a year and a half! They had a GREAT outdoor seating area with umbrellas. They had complimentary wifi. The drink I ordered (windy city chai [I think]) was new and yummy. I would highly recommend as an outdoor meet up space. My only critique would be that I dont believe the staff cleans the tables outside regularly. When not in a pandemic, that would be fine. While still in a pandemic, it might nice to do a quick wipe through every so often. Otherwise, patrons bring a Iysol wipe or two with you, if worried.
It’s nice that they offer a kid’s temp for a just warm spiced cider for my 2 y.o. It’s nice that they have a large outdoor patio. The espresso was nice flavor, but the cappuccino foam was disappointing- just like Starbucks- way too many air bubbles and froth. And the wait seemed a little long for my place in line and the little we ordered and the large number of staff behind counter. But really, I won’t be coming back because of the poor job on the cappuccino. Not worth it.
I was so super happy when I found the Colectivo in Lincoln Park, that I went there at least 3 times a week in the summer to study or just chill. The coffee isn’t to die for but the staff cared about how it was prepared, which made all the difference. The Lincoln Pk location has the best vibe...Evanston not so much and I live in Evanston, which sucks. Most of the staff are friendly and accommodating. However, managers with curt attitudes, poorly executed food preparation and NO diversity in staffing sends a clear message that Evanston’s location is sub par. They have gotten rid of popular food items, and almost always have a line with only one register open. Their excuse, home office changeover. Well it would seem the changeover has a team that has chosen to turn what was once a great regional coffee spot, into a regional chain that, per the usual puts profit over customer service and authenticity.... on its way to Starbuckstown 🤮Thank goodness Evanston has so may coffee shops to choose from. Colectivo lost this once loyal costumer.
Im a downtown Evanston 9-5er, always in search of great lunch spots with my co-workers.Ive ordered the bowls for lunch - VERY tasty, but portions are too small, so I am still hungry after. Theres so much room left in the container, too! For the same price at the Chipotle across the street you can get a similar meal with twice the food.
They did a much better job attending to my needs and I didnt feel like I didnt belong because of my race and if I did, it wasnt the staff. Actually, Ive had more fun here then say Starbucks. I understand that Northwestern students frequent this place. They are genuine here.
Well. I tried. I know that is complicated for local businesses so I came here for a friend recommendation. We asked for 3 items, the girl at register missed 1.... I found out after I got the order after waiting. Then I ordered the missing sandwich, and it was taking too long, then I came back to check and my order was sitting there, they did not call me. And in the case that they did (they didnt) they could just call again if they see that nobody picked that up. This was my first and my only time here. Sorry. Will be difficult to keep a business with this very bad service open during covid. Hope a better staff comes after this closes. The food was good, that the one extra star. So keep the person from the kitchen!
Lmao I just tried to get the turkey club with turkey bacon (which they readily have on other sandwiches, and I was prepared to pay more) and just got told no by the manager.Am I too white not to be into pork? I literally lack the enzymes after not eating it a decade.Very progressive company, sort of, lol... Marketing ploy :)
Convenient location and definitely my favorite coffee around. The staff there is so friendly and helpful. I didnt realize that Colectivo also has teas, which Im excited to try. Seating area is cozy-looking and almost every table was full with people on computers, working, or reading books when I stopped by on a Thursday morning around 8am.
Delicious coffee, solid wifi, great vibe, cool mugs. I moved back to Chi from Milwaukee a few years ago and Im really glad theyve migrated south! I like to study here - lots of little tables and pretty decent number of outlets for charging. Kind of obvious since its a coffee shop not a library but bring headphones if youre not a skilled tuner-outer. And just to emphasize - truly delicious coffee.
Great coffee and food! The only downside to this location is there is scarce parking and it is always packed to the brim inside. I do appreciate that they have tables designated for minimum of two people to share so it’s not only people on their laptops. Always friendly service!
Without a doubt, this is easily the best coffee experience in Evanston. They care about the quality of the coffee experience and product they serve. This isnt push a button industrial coffee. Also, great breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I highly recommend the pumpkin/cranberry muffin. Finally, this location also has a cool vibe with ample seating and strong WiFi. This is the place for coffee. A total experience, whether passing through or lingering a while.
Great place for studying. Good food and beverages. Nice ambience. However, very popular study spot, so maybe not great for casual lunch, although I do see people come and hang out/knit/have what looks like sketching gatherings, so maybe good for everything! I did notice they turn off the wifi around lunch time on Saturday, presumably to give people time to use the spot as a restaurant and not a library.
This is a great place to get coffee, staff is very nice and friendly. One time I ordered my drink but forgot to mention that I need to substitute milk, and i realized that only after my coffee was done. So I went to barista and ask her to make me another drink, and she did, but didnt even charge me!!! it was very nice of her, definitely recommend it!!
I love their Windy City tea! Who would have thought that Earl Grey, lavender and oat milk are to die for. The tea and coffee selection is marvelous but I always get the Windy City tea because its so delicious. They have a selection of pastries that sometimes include vegan options.
When I ordered an almond pastry, your clerk told me she had just turned off her register (even though a customer had just left) so I would have to go to the other order station. She made no effort to take me to the other station, and I felt there was already someone waiting there. I think it was rude and was done because I had a small (neat) cart from the farmers market with me Sat. afternoon, even though you had seats along the raised bar in the front, where my cart could have sat out of the way--if I had decided to stay. Ill never be back.
First time here today, meeting colleagues at 4 pm. Appears roomier than Einsteins bagels down the street...just ordered a large iced Americano...superb, smooth, not bitter. Ill be back...parking a little tight as usual for this area, but worth the hassle to be able to eat vegan and vegetarian or gluten free
I truly enjoyed coming here but there are so many great options nearby its still like mythic or fourth option within walking distance from the davis street purple line .Their coffee is great and the lattes are well made and I love their almond croissants but personally its just my type of place for coffee
I ordered an iced mocha and went to the end of the bar to wait. The girl didnt even put the cup in the que so they could start making the drink, she just left it sitting next to her by the register. Someone finally went and got the cup. The woman started to steam some milk and I asked her if that was for x and she said yes. I told her its supposed to be an iced mocha. She responds it doesnt say iced.Perhaps the employees should mark the drink correctly. Perhaps the woman shouldnt get snarky when I tell her its supposed to be iced. It also shouldnt take 12 minutes to get a $5 cup of coffee, and then not even have it taste right. The employees need to be friendlier. I will not be returning.
Currently here now and I paid $30+ for the chorizo burrito, avocado blt, along with a pina colada smoothie an iced latte. The burrito wasn’t too bad but they forgot to put the avocado on my sandwich.. then I decided to try a brownie which my gf loved at least! Pretty good coffee spot but Ultimately, it wasn’t worth the hype for me.

2022-04-13Had been to Milwaukee location and love it. When I saw this in Evanston I could not stop myself. They have the best Cortado among all other coffee shops I have tried so far.

2022-06-11Today, I felt cooler than I ever have before- and I attribute that entirely to this location of Colectivo. I ordered ahead using the app, and received a notification my order was ready earlier than expected. When I walked over to grab my order I walked past a line (out the door) to grab my order off the pick up shelf and quickly and efficiently leave the restaurant before they could even take next in line. The order ahead process was seamless and wonderful. Highly recommend everyone orders ahead and tips the staff well. Thank you and good night.

2022-04-09Nice people. I like the vibe, and when the weather is good, open windows and outdoor seating. As usual, their coffee is great, and the food is tasty and substantial. Im so glad theyve come to Chicagoland.

2022-06-09Great espresso drinks and friendly baristas. It is too obnoxious to say that I like the vibe? Feels Portland. Baked oatmeal and other breakfast options are available and taste fresh, but it can be a long wait.

2022-04-22Delicious latte! The sandwich was good too. Nice place to sit and have coffee with a friend or study as there were many students doing that there.

2022-06-23This place is very nice I prefer the Andersonville but anyway the review is based only on the Evanston location and the man behind the espresso machine and his nasty attitude and his lack to manage his job. His job is to make drinks that require espressos. Well he took forever to handle the drinks and when asked after 10 minutes how much longer he said with attitude you are next. Seriously I worked at Starbucks when I was younger and I was super fast dealing with those drinks and they were made right. He was going supet slow taking his sweet time and seem that this location customers enjoy waiting ! But for a single espresso waiting 10 minutes is not ok. If he has attitude because he is older and has to serve coffee he need to find a job that suits his slowness and his age better. Awful place never going back.

2022-04-08The service was really fast and nice, same for the ambiance. Such a shame my hot chocolate wasn’t exactly ´it’ for me (however I do know the place is specialized in coffee, so that’s a bit on me)
