Chouteau Island Fishing Area in Granite City
This is my favorite place on the Illinois side. I live like 15 minutes away from this place.

Super cool and always free. Walk the bridge. Óbserve the awesome power of the river. When it drops walk the banks, but bring bug spray.
Im a rock hound and this place is amazing, my toddler enjoyed it as well.
I took my grandson there to get up close and personal with the river snd rocks ...
Very nice place for fishing, There are many fishes.
Magnificent view. Beware the old bridges effect on your tires, though. Closed at dusk, as is the bridge to the island.
I did not go fishing but as actually got in an accident on bridge be careful of tires from tractor trailer trucks

2021-04-30Always a great place to check out the big muddy. Though sometimes the area doesnt smell the best.There is plenty of parking. And it has decent access to the lower part of the walking trails.This is mainly a fishing location, but I always come for the view, as it has a good view of the bridge and pump stations.Expect when the area is flooded, there is always someone here fisjhing when I visit. So it must be a good spot to fish.
