Chilis Grill & Bar in other cities:
Overall its what you would expect from Chilis. We were sat near the window and my family got cold so we had to move. My wife said the Cajun pasta (she had it with shrimp) was not as cajun as it used to be. (Guess it was lacking on the seasoning) she ate maybe half of the entree and didnt want to take the leftovers home.
Dining here has always been a great experience. My personal favorite is the steak fajitas, and the chips and salsa starter is an absolute must. We havent yet been to a Chilis which doesnt have both a well-maintained restaurant and a friendly and responsive wait staff. Theyre clearly doing something right across the full chain.
Stopped in to place a to-go order with my daughter. Everyone who worked there was incredibly nice and professional. I felt so bad for them. Very understaffed. But our food was delicious. The order was right. We didnt have to wait long. And the stuff kept a smile on our faces.
Todays visit to Chilis was especially important as it marked the 1st time it ate inside a restaurant since March 2020 due to the pandemic. It was a pleasure and comfort to eat at this establishment as the staff was very friendly and wore masks and the overall environment was safe and inviting. The food was brought to my table hot and visually pleasing. 5 stars to the bar staff Dan and Shannon. If you want refreshing, well made margaritas visit this Chilis location especially when these 2 wonderful individuals work. I highly recommend this dining establishment. Great service. Great food. Overall a safe and inviting place to eat at.
Ill just start by saying that this was my first, and last, visit to Chilis. My family and I received a Chilis gift card, so we decided to visit yesterday evening. Our server was nice, polite, and friendly to us all, so we had zero complaints about him. The food, on the other hand? Well, lets just say it was not good at all.For our only appetizer, we chose the fried pickles. They arrived fresh out of the fryer, which was good, but that was the only positive thing about them. The coating was waaaay over-salted, and the pickle chips themselves were soggy. In other words, they stunk and we were all disappointed.A short time after we finished the appetizer, our entrees arrived. We had a turkey club, a burger, some chicken tender things, and a childs pepperoni pizza. The burger was bland as could be, with no detectable seasoning of any kind, and the sauce on top was very bland, too. The only good thing was that it was cooler medium rare as requested. The turkey club had pieces of bacon that had obviously been cooked far in advance, and had been sitting around for quite some time. The turkey was nothing more than lunch meat that youd get in your local grocery store, and was every bit as bland as the burger was.Next up were the chicken tenders, or crispers, it whatever theyre called. Unfortunately, they suffered from the same problem as the fried pickles, as the coating was quite salty, and the chicken inside was flavorless.Lastly, the childs pizza was an incredibly sad looking thing, resembling a pita with some cheese and tomato sauce plopped on top. Again, it was over salted, and looked like it was store bought, tossed in a microwave, and then served to us.To sum up, the whole experience left us feeling like Chilis isnt even trying. When you go out to eat, the food shouldnt look and taste worse than what one could make at home, especially when theyre charging slightly higher than average prices. Save yourself the time and frustration, and go elsewhere to eat, because Chilis is not the place to go for an enjoyable meal.
This is by far my favorite Chilis location. The staff always are attentive and the food is always awesome. Even take out from this location is always top notch. Ive had 1 meal where the manager called saying that they had mushroom for a burger but that they werent up to their standard and they would prefer to give me the option to change my order or take it knowing it wasnt premium. They made that situation right also. Its always an amazing meal or drink here and certainly one of the local restaurants we adopted through COVID-19.
So, let me start by saying that the tables were dirty and greasy and the waitress instead of taking care of us was more interested in talking to her co-worker. At some point, while we were having our entries, I had to stand up and look for our waitress and ask her for some napkins and when I went back to our table, to finish my entree, I saw a cockroach walking next to our entrees!!!!In other words, this place used to have affordable prices, great customer service and above all, it was clean. Yes, it USED to be. Now it is just an overpriced place infested with cockroaches and a nonexistent customer service.
We were here on Friday on a double date with some friends. The food/drinks at this Chilis are actually decent... HOWEVER if you eat here you run the risk of the server completely forgetting about you and your order. It wasnt even busy on a Friday night (and now I understand why). Our friends ordered the 2 for $25 deal and only got their appetizer...we waited an hour before saying anything and it was clear the server just forgot to enter it. So we had to wait longer still while the food was being made. I understand people are just human, but Ive worked in the service industry and when this happens you expect to be compensated somehow, whether its a round of drinks or free dessert or something to make up for the bad experience... hopefully theyll work on their service here because everything else is great.
This is one of my favorite places to go the customer service there is awesome especially their waiter named Rex hes the best their food is always on point we never have to wait too long and once you sign up for that rewards you get free salsa and chips or free drinks so thats always awesome when I go the only thing that I had a problem with it was the chili having no beans so its just a big bowl of ground beef and sauce but their burgers are delicious those chicken tenders that they have with the spicy sauce are to die for the barbecue burrito when they had that it was so awesome overall a great place to go I would highly recommend this place
We got the 2 for $20(5). The food was good ) guacamole starter, steak for the hubby, chicken margarita paired with a margarita for an additional $5 that comes with a shaker. The only thing was the waitress forgot to add our dessert (cheesecake) to our bill so it would reflect the promo so we were looking at a $48 bill trying to figure it out. Once she added it in, the bill was $32.Also this Evanston location opened at 2pm. And each location has different hours since the shortage of workers. Some locations dont do dine in or are closed altogether as the day before we went to the Skokie location .
Rudest customer service ever. The waiter kept coming to the table rushing us to order. We got up and left after chilli was served cold. Never going back there again. If you cant serve black people how you would serve your own, then you wont be getting our green dollars!!
Walked in, no one was around to greet or seat me. I waited. Then an Asian couple walks in and then a Caucasian couple walked in. A blonde Chili’s employee comes out, passes me (doesn’t even look at me), went straight to the white couple, also not acknowledging the Asian couple. The white couple informed her there were people ahead of them. She looked at me and the Asian couple and chose to greet and seat the Asian couple first without even acknowledging I was standing there - no greeting. I left and will never return…which is probably what the white Chili’s employee wants anyway. So I’ll be back! This happened yesterday Friday, August 20th between 2:30PM and 2:45PM. I called a Lyft to pick me up at 2:50PM. I usually have a pretty nice experience at Chili’s. This is only the second suspect experience.
I ordered online for curbside pick up. Was advised order would be ready at 7:39. I arrived at 7:38 and per instructions,I texted that I was there. At 8:07, I went inside to see what was taking so long. I was offered a cookie and ice cream as some sort of compensation. At 8:15, I finally was able to leave with my food. Horrible
My fiance and I tried to go in to this location, and we rushed it ahead of a group of literally 40 college students headed towards the restaurant. When we got inside the restaurant and asked the waiter, she said it was a 30-minute wait and the dining room was closed. We were both confused because we saw many open tables that werent blocked off, tables up, or shown to be unable to be used due to social distancing. They wont take reservations, which doesnt make sense in the time of Covid. We tried calling another location in Skokie to see if we could get put on a list, but were also told that it was still first come first serve. Now maybe theres stuff I dont know, and Ive worked in the restaurant industry before, but dont you think reservations during Covid would make for a better system?
I really like this location but just got back from a late lunch here and had another great experience so figured Id throw it on here finally. I originally went in because of the 3 for $10 deal but noticed the menu there was different than online. Our server immediately knew what we were talking about though and honoring the online menu wasnt an issue. Beyond that, the service was pleasant and quick and the food exactly what I was looking for. Ill be back again!
The customer service was very good. The food was delicious. I have a very big appetite so once I saw the quantity of food they gave us I was a bit disappointed. However surprisingly once I ate it all I was very full. This is a great place to go for a family dinner or a night out with friends.
Tonight my family (3 of us) waited for a long time for a server to the point I had to get up and go to the kitchen area and ask for someone to come to our table. No one even came over and said well be right with you or take our drink orders. We watched other tables be tended to and servers looking at us but no one came to us. Our server wasnt even the server we were supposed to have. He was nice though. One drink was flat and the other was wrong. We also waited a while for our food which we ordered with our drinks since we were so hungry. My mom had just got out the ER and needed to eat. Also a manager came by the table as we were waiting for our drinks, sweeping and didnt say a word to us. I really enjoy Chillis and their food but this experience is making me rethink that. Oh and the restaurant wasnt busy at all. There were maybe guests at 6 tables and a few people in the bar area.
Worst customer service ever! We visited on a Saturday night around 8:30pm. Restaurant was less than half full and our party of three was the only group in line. We waited for ten minutes before anyone came to seat us. No apology for our wait. Our waitress came to the table quickly and we got our food quickly but the waitress never came back to check on us. After we finished eating we patiently waited for the bill for 15 minutes. We finally had to go find her (she was in the kitchen doing who knows what). The restaurant wasn’t even busy. How irritating. The food was delicious. Restaurant was clean. Just good old POOR customer service.
3.5Two burgers, fries, salads, a gigantic 24 oz. beer and a good enough pour of low priced red at the bar for lunch set us back next to nothing. A fast enough and pleasant server. The burgers and fries were very much over-salted and surprisingly prepared just as we had ordered.
Service was good, but I ordered a burger and server did not ask me how I wanted it cooked. It was dried out and overdone. Servers, PLEASE ASK how someone wants their burger done. Since were not a server, we wont always remember to mention it without being asked. :-( Disappointing. Also, BRING BACK THE WHEAT BREAD PLEASE. Big mistake getting rid of it.
Just after the noon lunch hour. We sat in the bar. We had a moderately long wait to get the menus. I had chicken and my partner had beef. The fork in the bag was still covered with the prior peoples food baked on the fork. The meals were acceptable but not special. For the most part there was no zing in the meals. When we left, we thought we would wait another three months to return. You might be lucky when you call again. We will not.
Let me start by saying I don’t go into a Chili’s expecting a good gourmet dining experience. But my god, it was just so bad. It took around 50 minutes for us to get our food, and when it arrived it was wrong! Some items never came out at all, but we didn’t bother asking because the service was so inattentive that we knew it would take another hour. And to top it off, the general manager came over to interrogate our table two separate times on why we should sign up for Chili’s Rewards!Evanston has so many great, reasonably priced and locally owned dining options. Just seriously go somewhere else.
Third time placing carry out order.Every single time it’s late.Every time I have to wait another 15-25 minutes to get the food. When I placed order last time I was told to wait 15 minutes, I came 20 minutes after the expected time and still had to wait extra 10 minutes.Staff is always careless and rude on the carry out side.Food is always good(that’s why I didn’t put 1 Star) except for Chicken enchilada soup)
This place is awesome! Tasty food, great portion and prices that wont break the bank. They have several promotions (usually for 2)... The last time I went there we had one of those that included appetizer (one), entrees (two), margaritas (two) which were amazing plus I refilled my glass like 2 times and dessert (one).Honestly I cant remember the price exactly but Im pretty sure it was less than $40. And we were soo full!. Really full!. Everything was fantastic (as every time weve been there).Totally recommended and Ill definitely be back.
We like a lot going out. Last night we visited this excellent place which friends told us about. We passed a beautiful time there with fine food and a professional crew and a great cook. We added this place in our phone list and we will certainly return soon. We deeply recommend.
A beautiful clean and solid restaurant in downtown Evanston Illinois. The restaurant is very clean bright and well organized. You can keep track of your favorite sports teams since there are several television sets for viewing. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and very personable. The quality of the food is above average. The varieties of soft drinks are impressive and exciting. The desserts are the best items on the menu here. They have delightful cakes pies ice cream and fresh fruit specials. The place has very clean sanitary and hot water available restrooms. Plenty of soap and paper towels to clean oneself thoroughly. The best food item is the Turkey Club sandwich with French fries. The turkey is like the one gramma prepares on Thanksgiving Day. The French fries are deep fried in clean vegetable oil and are very hot. Attend!!!!!
I cant go to Chilis without an order.of the bottomless tostada chips, its a classic staple. And I cant say no to a good margarita or fajita. Overall the food is very good and Ive never been disappointed with a meal, but its not the place I would go to for a freshly unique dining experience.
The food here is excruciatingly sub-par. I can actually confidently say that I could have done a better job cooking at home. I dread when someone suggests this restaurant. If it werent for them being right next to the movie theater and being one of the only restaurants open late, I would NEVER eat there. I ordered a steak dinner to go which Im sure was supposed to come with rice or some other side, but when I got home and opened the box, my stomach dropped in utter disappointment and disbelief. The steak is a joke, resembling a cheeseburger. And all I got was a sad side salad.
I know, 3 star reviews arent so helpful because theyre neither here nor there. Not good, not bad, just meh. But meh pretty much sums up my impression of the Chilis at 1765 Maple Ave. We stopped in after catching a movie at the Century 12. We had drinks and appetizers, featuring boneless wings in a big cheese pool of goo. Dont get me wrong, it was awesome goo, didnt I just say it was cheesy? But there wasnt enough chicken. Plus, I didnt want a margarita and was so underwhelmed by the tiny list of alternative drinks that I just had a coke. The place was clean, a little noisy for 10 pm, and the server didnt seem too into it. All in all a boring after-movie bite.
Categorizing this as tex-mex might be a little bit of a stretch, but being a chain you probably already know what youre in for. Had a great burger and tried some tasty cajun-esque pasta and enjoyed both. Its not exactly authentic or nutritious but its still a good night out with a good atmosphere for talking with one another.
Stopped in on a Wed. night before a movie hoping to get a simple order of wings. The place was not busy at all, and I was sat immediately. This is as far as service went. No one came to take my order, provide water, or anything. After waiting 15mins I politely took my busniess elswhere.
I feel sorry for the people looking for a quick eat after seeing a movie, as I did. People are lured in by the packed resturant, tvs, and sports memorabilia but the food is barely edible and service is slow. Maybe if they put more money into the food instead of the Bose music system that constantly blares terrible music I could write this place a decent review. Just spend a couple more dollars and walk a little farther for a better experience and end the night on a good note.
Absolutely love this Chilies in Evanston! Its a block away from the Metra as well as the Purple Line in the heart of downtown Evanston. Its right down the street from an amazing theater so dinner and a movie is a must! The staff is always more the friendly and passionate about having you in the restaurant. The menu is always changing as the season do and they offer a wide variety of promotions from their $7 lunch combo the there 3 for $10. ( entree, side and a drink). The menu is also Amazing! From tex mex to chicken, pasta. I would recommend the burgers or the Fairey Pepper Chicken Crispers (if ya can take the heat). All in all whether its a night out with the boys or girls to the fam. Maybe its date night or you simply want to grab Chilies-to-go on your lunch break. Did I mention the now deliver with Postmates & Doordash!
Select the menu served with beef and shrimp ... it had changed out of salt when ordering. Cooking taken me there was an awful lot of salt sprayed. I cant think of the awkward English, and demanded julgeot re-created. Some foods are re-created on a lot of salty beef chunks are strong and have adequate although some are salty than the first. The reason for me to doubt. The first recycling Hardy feels the piano atna gave me salty foods. Because they had orders not to put the second halttaeneun salt.
Waitress brought us food with no silverware we had to get silverware from some other waitress and then we have to go back and get paper towels she asked her cuz she get an extra biscuit 30 minutes went by we asked her what a busy that she said somebody took it and she she wasnt going to even tell us until we ask what happened with the biscuit she said somebody took it she native food already so she cancelled it the people in front of us was very dissatisfied with her too the food was great though

2022-03-20Not at all great! We had to wait almost 20 minutes to get waited on. Then the server stated well you guys were all the way on the other side so...like it was our fault we were seated there. There was another family waiting as well and another server had to come get their order cuz theyd been waiting a long time as well.Manager need to have enough staff if not manager need to work and help staff and have customers needs met in timely manner.BAD MANAGEMENT.

2022-03-29Food was ok but service was horrible! Was staying at the Hilton across the street so we decided to go to Chilis. Got there and ordered a draft Blue Moon. Waitress tells me they have no draft beers this night. I asked for a Blue Moon in a bottle with a glass. After waiting for five minutes, the waitress comes back to tell me that they do not have it. I order a Sam Adams. Again she goes to get it and again 5 minutes later she tells me they do not have it. I then asked about the IPA they have. She tried to explain what an IPA was than stopped and said Ill just have the bartender come over. I just said forget it and bring me a long island. Our appetizers arrived long before our drinks did. The waitress brings our drinks and we never heard from her again. Horrible service.

2022-05-07My first time at chilis, and it was amazing, very comfortable seating, service was outstanding, and the food- amazing, I got the southwestern soup, it was fantastic, the cajun shrimp pasta was incredibly good but it was a but underseasoned with the cajun itself, not a big deal tho, and the burger was fire! Only thing is, I got the bacon bbq burger, and it was really filling, like really heavy, so if ur up for it then its a great choice, bit if u plan on getting more things go with a diff burger, the fries were really good too, well worth coming here.

2022-05-04I don’t frequent chain restaurants, but sometimes I crave chilis margaritas and fajitas. This location is very good, extremely friendly staff and good food. I will be back next time I’m craving Chilis.

2017-11-29Food was sub-par and the service was slow, definitely expected more out of this Chilis. Ultimately had a good time and powered through it since I was in good company, but I certainly was not disappointed when my group chose a different restaurant for the next day. Had a burger and fries, not terribly tasty but I suppose it got the job done.

2022-06-10A meal was missed, and when I called to have it rectified I was told that I would be sent out gift cards to cover the cost. It never happened; very disappointed.
