The Sweatlodge is a fantastic place to get together with friends, or just to treat yourself. I make a point to go here whenever Im back in Chicago.Wet and Dry sauna options. Wet sauna is my favorite and has several faucets for filling the cold water buckets to pour over yourself (best feeling ever). Full size private locker, showers, food and a large beer selection. TVs for the sports crowd, socializing area. The food is excellent!!! Play some chess while you wait for it or have a smoke out back in the enclosed patio. There is also a private massage room for an additional cost.
Has always been a 5 star place for me, but since the new ownership, the place is just dirty.. before you would never see staff standing around.. they were always doing something - and that something is cleaning! Dear new owner, we pay good money for clean facilities. Please fix this issue
Ideally sauna should be done as a spiritual practice, if not than at least as a professional sport. For me sauna is more than sport, and Sweat lodge is the best sauna in Chicago area, it has the coldest plunge and the most balanced temperature/humidity ratio in sauna room. Mike, the manager, goes above and beyond to make it a great experience each time. We come here year round weekly since 2017.
Great place to relax and meet with friends. I like to come here after a long work week and enjoy two great saunas, zero gravity chairs. Facility is always clean and bright. The food is delicious and at very reasonable price, beer selection is good and service is pleasant. Their staff is very friendly. Thank you!
I came here for the first time in Dec 2018. It has turned into a weekly ritual for me. The sauna experience is phenomenal, and the food in the restaurant is delicious. Very clean place thats well taken care of. After a visit to the sauna I leave stress free and so relaxed.
Oh , bueno . Friendly staff , tasty food , extremely hot sauna , with cold pool . Clean towels and nice atmosphere. Manager was great - helped with extra towels , instructions and advises . Poured essential oil to the sauna for more relax , and was taking care of temperature 👍
Although my previous visit was not too thrilling, I have changed my opinion after my last visit.Place was very clean, well managed and welcoming. Both Sauna rooms have been updated, and ovens have been fixed. It produced enough heat for sauna loversI went there in the middle of week at night and there was not too may people.Food menu was outstanding as always, although a bit pricey. But you would see the same anywhere when you go out. So, no surprises there.Staff was attentive and kept place in good shape through out my visit.I wish there was a bit more parking space because when busy, one might need to find space on the street, but again nothing new for Chicagoans.
We discovered this place a few years ago and have been going ever since. Its a great place to relax and unwind after a long day at work or any chilly day for that matter. Super clean facility with genuinely friendly customers always willing to strike up a conversation. Staff is very helpful. Unlike the Korean Spas, the Russian Banya is a very chatty, social affair. Great with friends. Do try the food; the restaurant is superb. We especially like the buffalo chicken fingers and anything with grilled chicken (salads, kabobs (Shashlik), a decent selection of American and Russian foods, beer and vodka. Good soups too. I wish they would add a selection of wines and sparkling to the menu. Overall, a great experience.
A unique experience, youll either love the Russian & Turkish Baths and become one of the regulars from all walks of life who share the bond of going there, or youll never want to come back. This place offers two different saunas as well as an ice cold pool, restaurant, lounge area with chairs and recliners. Great place for a platza massage and deep relaxation.
This spot is the one I like best. I eat in a lot of restaurants but to this one I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very cordial and the cuisine they serve is so appetizing. I am always happy to have a good dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.
Authentic father/son-friendly Russian sauna - very legit, but you dont need to be eastern European to enjoy it!Offers a dry sauna, a wet sauna and for cooling off... cold sauna bucket showers and a plunge pool kept icy cold.Modern venue, kept clean, great customer service. The food is of fantastic quality too!Great for newbies and experienced sauna-goers alike.
This is a place to mellow down and just relax. The combination of the heat and cold water makes it delightful to me and help me fall as sleep once Im done with the therapy. I usually go with a few friends and we enjoy drinks and food as well. Did I mention that the food is delicious? You would not regret dinning in. The chicken soup is my favorite. I highly recommend it to any man in search of a relaxing time after a long week at work. Youll be glad you did I promise.
I went to sweat but I ended up staying for hours because of the delicious food they offer. Their dumplings are not to be missed.Ive visited this place a few times now and its always so clean. The staff are very friendly too! I highly recommend the Chicago Sweatlodge to anyone who wants to relax for a few hours!
It’s a good spot, the trick is to know when it’s not packed. Otherwise, the dry sauna is a pique heat, while the wet is perfect.I should say the cold water shower is the coldest I’ve experienced in the area and I cannot recommend it enough. The food is alright but the chebureki could be less greasy, but hey, that’s the nature of that food.
Fantastic experience. I went on a very cold night and left literally warmed to my core. I drove home on my scooter and felt like it was a nice spring evening. Everyone is very considerate. You can be as nude as you want, or you can wear the little kilt they give you. (You HAVE to wear the kilt in the dining area but the sauna sections and elsewhere are as you please.) The ONLY downside (if any) is there is no hot tub. Two saunas, a cold pool to jump in between saunas, a pair of cold water showers and then normal showers. Also a chill sitting area to hang out in, as well as an outdoor patio that I imagine is great when its not January. And for $35 well worth the price!
$35 to get in. Men only. 2 large saunas : wet and dry, small ice water pool, large relax area with 6 recliners. Massage on demand (paid separately). Surprisingly good restaurant (eastern European and American food): fish soup is amazing, salads and meats are great. Good bear selection including Ukrainian and Russian beers. Overall great place and atmosphere. Can get overcrowded.
Just the best choice quality and a pricewise. It was my best experience in a Russian public bath house. The place does not have anything in common with drinking vodka and having a party, it is about having a healthy procedures and relaxation. I was there in the morning just after they were opened and with a few customers saunas were already hot. Undoubtedly highly recommended to visit while you are in Chicago.
As a native Russian I can tell you that everything there feels as close to the Motherland as it can get. The food tastes authentic and is absolutely delicious. The sauna is the real deal too, dont be fooled by your LA Fitness or Xsport steam room or saunas, this is 100x better. Highly recommend it!
Wow, wasnt expecting this kind of intense Eastern European experience! I was thinking it was going to be just a couple of saunas (which I guess it is). But theres something unique about this experience that completely removes you from the city and stresses of life. Its quite refreshing and rejuvenating.Im so glad we tried the food! I wasnt expecting anything all that great from an old world sweatlodge, but their chicken kebabs and chicken soup were incredible! Definitely an old world recipe that stand the test of time.
I have been going here since 2009 and it is always an amazing experience. It is a place where I can basically take a vacation day a couple of miles from my house! My only issue is my last visit this past tuesday, instead of having Jazz music like they usually do, they were playing some pop music that really killed the vibe of the place. I hope this was just a one time thing and that the station was set wrong.
If youre looking for a real sauna.. look no further. Amazing facility with a very helpful staff. In between sweating like you never have before I recommend trying some of the food. World class dishes in such an unlikely place but trust me!!! I also recommend a massage while youre here.. best I have ever had. I know some guys are a bit shy about visiting a sauna, but this is a place where you can just hang out with friends in a very comfortable environment!
Best urban oasis ever! Clean, best food, Russian sauna cooks, plunge pool refreshes, great beer selection, recharge and disconnect with a no cell phone atmosphere!I realize how bad it is to be on the phone all the time after spending a great time at the Sweat Lodge! European style set up with traditional amenities reminds me of the possibility of being born in Europe as a 1st generation American instead of this dump. I mean U.S.A. My go to place if I have a few hours.
As a Russian who grew up enjoying the Banya or the Russian sauna I can vouch that this place is great. I have been coming here since they have opened. The place is always clean and the you can enjoy a variety of cold Russian brews after you go through a proper shvitz. The food is pretty good too.In my opinion its worth a visit if youre into heat and relaxation!
Great place to relax if like saunas and steam rooms! Very friendly staff, good choice of food and drinks and alcohol ( e.g. beer, vodka, tequila). Also, you can get a relaxing massage. Sometimes it can get crowded, especially on Fridays. Parking is big enough to accommodate many cars. This place has two hot rooms: Turkish type room and Russian / Finnish type (dry) and cold plunge pool. It has lockers and showers.Cafeteria has space for about 40 people.Enjoy this place!
The only one place I know where you can enjoy real russian style sauna. Plus there are a lot of extra features such as massages, zero balance chairs and special cold pool. The personal is very friendly. Food is great - especially this ukrainian dish called “salo”. 5 out of 5!!!
Best mens spa in Chicago hands down, great facilities, always clean, and the food and beer selection at the built in restaurant is phenomenal. marinated herring, pellemini, perogi, smoked mackerel, fish jerky, delicious salads wash it down with a refreshing russian beer. Perfect weekend getaway.
This is real deal for those who enjoy steam room and sauna. Relaxation, good company of friends, decent food, and beer: boys night out. You gotta enjoy those those things, including sauna, otherwise, it is expensive, and can be waste of money. Not for everyone, but it is our tradition for maby years.
Authentic dry and wet saunas - hotter than anything at the gym. Great food, unlimited icewater, and a sitting room so you can relax and watch TV to cool off. Theres a cold dip pool- always have a quick dip to cool off after the sauna! What more can you say?Theyll even provide soap if you want a real bath, and three kinds of massage. Theres deep tissue massage (walk-in or appointment). In the Russian sauna a professional will beat you down with a banya broom (its a real thing), and in the Turkish bath they have a seaweed broom (which is more for gentle cleaning).Great facilities are cleaned regularly. Kitchen is amazing. They have a sense of humor too. Theres a sign up front that says the only sexual activity youre going to get inside is someone shoving a boot up your behind as they kick you out. This is a place to unwind and recharge, so please dont bring your loud friends and make a big scene unless its because of how good the food is.
I had such a wonderful experience with this place Top Notch service by the staff. excellent food which I got their famous chicken soup and their pierogies. It was a bit crowded on a Friday night and it is more of a gentlemans night out and conversing rather than a quiet place to zone out. Certainly worth recommending
This place was great...the dry and wet saunas were excellent... the pace of the place is nice and slow as it should be. I had the chicken soup which was great, a friend had the fish soup...same review...It was clean and well maintained...finally a place for guys to go and truly relax, have a drink, good food, and watch espn without being bothered. I only wish they had one in the western suburbs
The place is very clean, lots of Russian being spoken and you can feel a little bit like an interloper, however I always feel refreshed and relaxed leaving this place. After sweating out the toxins in either the wet or dry sauna followed by a dip in the polar pool you can slug back a couple of baltika beers and a plate of pierogies.
I would have to say it has been the best one i have been to yet staff was ver if professional and it showes that they love what they do they take pride in this place and go the extra steps to make sure your satisfied and you can feel 100% comfortable here. Recommended very highly form me

2019-07-22Nice place to relax for those who love real sauna, inside is clean , good and tasty food, nice drinks. The entrance is 25$ per person, plus additional what you eat and drink. They have parking in the back of the building and it is free. When you enter they give you a key with a number and with that number you pay at the end when you leave.

2021-07-29Its such a great place. The food is very good (recommend the pelmeni), the kitchen staff are great, and there is a feeling of brotherhood for the regulars no matter what their backgrounds. I went weekly from 2009 until 2016 and still feel the place is special even though my visits are much less frequent now. Red Square Spa in Wicker Park is also very good.
