Dr. J is the absolute best Vet. He is professional and compassionate. I no longer have a pet, but should I ever get another one, I will definitely go back. He and his staff has cared for 2 of my dogs and several dogs in my brothers family. Dr. J is a very special man and a great Veterinarian.
I have been taking all of my pets here and Dr Jay is amazing. He always helps us and when we need to get in right away he always gets us in for an appointment. He is very cost efficient and he is great with my pets. I have never had one problem going there and I have been going there for 10 years. My sister took her dog to get fixed at the animal welfare and it got infected, she then started going to Dr. Jay as well. She wont go anywhere else either.
Ive brought all my dogs to this doctor for the past 10 years, and hes been nothing but a blessing for all of the furry members of my family. Hes treated all of my dogs from puppy to old age. His prices are the most reasonable Ive ever experienced, and hes not in the business to rip you off. His prices are about half of what other vets around the area charge, and quality is never sacrificed. All other furry members of my immediate family also go to this vet because hes so good - dogs and cats alike. I highly recommend him! He even remembers my dogs by name. Dr.J is amazing.
What I had initially written was a good review after an abhorrent experience at the Animal Welfare League. My first encounter with this business was pleasant. After making a future appointment everything seemed to go awry. I noticed they were always busy, and with only 1 person that works with the 1 Vet, they rush you off the phone and dont seem to answer your questions throughly. I couldnt get a definitive answer on what we would be paying for an upcoming surgery. We were initially told that there would be a discount for the month of Feb. Later, there was no mention of any discount. Finally, there is an issue with their phones because the clerk always claims she cant hear. I was not going to travel such a great distance for such uncertainty. I want to go somewhere where they make you feel comfortable and confident with their care. They really dropped the ball for us which was disappointing.
I called to make an appointment for our new puppy. When the receptionist answered, I told her I was interested in pricing for first puppy visit. She began to tell me where the clinic is located. I said ok, thanks. She then asked me where I was located ( I’m still VERY CONFUSED as to why that matters.) I told her near 95th and western. She then asked me if I’d like to go to a clinic closer to my home. I hung up the phone and instantly began writing this review.I would not have called to inquire, if I felt the location was too far of a commute. I’m highly offended and disappointed in the service. With the way society is right now, I can’t help but to feel this was a race issue. I’ve called several other vets and no one else has asked me where I’m located or if I’d like to go to a closer vet.
Upset with this vet. My daughter recommended him after reading his reviews on Yelp and taking her dog there. Said he gave her options and saved her some money. So, I took my dog there because he was having a reaction to vaccinations (vomiting). Dr. Jay told me he didnt see anything wrong to take him home, give him some pedialyte ice cubes and hamburger and rice. He would not eat and began throwing up again. that evening he wound up in emergency vet care!!!! $600 dollars later!. Doctor Jay should have drawn blood at the least and we would have discovered what was wrong. He was severely dehydrated with gastroenteritis. Emergency Vet suggested follow-up care with family vet for more IV fluids. It wont be Dr. Jay! I did call and give him a piece of my mind. He had the audacity to say I refused to let him give my dog a shot for the vomiting which he never offered. He offered me pills to take home to stop the vomiting and I told him the dog hadnt vomited since morning. Dr. Jay kept insisting it was probably from our pond. I told him we have had this pond for 4 years. It was his vaccinations! Time to find another vet!
DR J came recommended by a friend who is a life long dog owner with several dogs 🐶 and I trusted her judgement, sadly.I had basic simple questions regarding my pup.. how much should he be eating? Drink? Preferred pet food? I received no guidance or direction other than vaccines to get and referral for the “something” (he had no idea but it could be a floater) in my pups left eye which turned out to be nothing but the COLOR of my pups eye. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️He has one brown and one blue from each parent. It’s common for Australian Shepherds to have heterocromia. He was unhelpful, dismissive, and arrogant
Dr. J. is the best, he does the best surgery on animals. Our cats were de - clawed / spayed by Dr. J who doesnt recommend de - clawing but will do the surgery, my cats think and act like they still have their front claws do to the type of surgical procedure he performs on removing the nail. The cats healed fast and have no side effects from surgery! Our dog also sees Dr. J and he does a great job for her too!
Today I arrived at 3:58p.m. there were several BIG dogs who for the most part of my almost 2 hour wait (to be expected) were okay. However there was a little out of control dog with a woman and her out of control child that annoyed everyone. Wish staff suggested they go into another room. Think that little dog caused a stir in the big dogs- and me... and the other (complaining) owners.HOWEVER after the long wait we HAULED TAIL OUTTA THERE because someone spotted a mouse scurring across the floor! Ugh! Guess it shouldnt be a surprise with all the animals etc but never ever in my 40+ years of being a pet owner have I ever heard of such. While I didnt see it - thank Goodness! Enough people did to cause a stir.We were called (via phone) for our whereabouts... but we were already headed for the hills.

2021-11-08When I first brought in my kitten I had that I had seen some bugs and that I would like him checked. The Dr. Did a very brief check and told me there were no bugs on him (strange since he was a stray, but okay) time passes and Im noticing both of my cats are scratching and cleaning themselves like crazy to find out now both cats have fleas and this could have been prevented. The other part of this is the first two visits I took our kitten by myself, the 3rd time I brought my bf with me and the Dr. Never acknowledged I was there, had my bf been there for any other visit Id find it less rude, but this was his first time in e visits joining me. When we brought a flea, from my cat in a zip lock baggie and said we found this on our cat after he said there were none, he looked us in the eye and said, well your cat has dark hair and its hard to tell. You are a Dr. This is your job. Finally, after our last visit, the Dr. Comes up to me while bf is paying, and says, these are what flea eggs look like.. I bit my tongue, but there was much I wanted to say. So! Due to the Dr.s disbelief and ignorance of my concern both of my cats have fleas, my house needs a deep clean, and we are never going back. The only good thing about this place is the price of shots.

2020-08-31I absolutely love Dr.J, he has helped us with all of our dogs and is the best at explaining things. Takes the time to give options, and you can tell he cares deeply about his patients. All the while NOT charging and arm and a leg. He always accomodates last minute appts or just call in questions. While the practice is small, Ive found my vet. And the pups love him.

2020-01-22Dr. J. is a wonderful veterinarian. He doesnt do things unnecessarily trying to get your money. Hes a great diagnostician. He knows what hes doing and you can be assured your pet is in good hands. If you have to wait a little before your appointment just know that he will spend extra time with you if necessary. He doesnt short change you.
