Had my car serviced here many times. Very satisfied with the service. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. If they need to keep your car and you have no way of getting home they will drive you home and pick you up if necessary. Very satisfied. Highly recommend them to everyone. They work.within your budget and help any way they can if situations come up. Very honest people.
I been going here for both of my taxi cabs and they always take care of me with all my needs. They take the time to explain why repairs are needed also. This is the best shop I ever been to! If you need your car repaired, I suggest going there. They will take good care of you and your car, every time you go. Thanks Cal, JR and Jim for being honest, and helping me keep my business (Taxi cabs) in defendable, safe condition. It truly means a lot to me, and my customers!.
BUYER BEWARE!!I had 2 experiences.First experience: I was going to purchase a oil change on Groupon, I called the shop first and was told the price of oil change was the same as the Groupon, so no Groupon. Brought my car in. Front desk guy was gruff until he asked if I was related to so& so. We chatted no a few minutes. I was told my car was finished was impressed with the mechanic who came out and did his speel with what my car needs ect.Second experience: This time I saw a Groupon for 2 oil changes for a fantastic price. I was selling my car that afternoon and already purchased a newer car, this was perfect for me. Brought in same car as before, different front desk people, not so friendly. When the mechanic came for my car, the front desk guy said to him, ITS A GROUPON!Which I thought was odd. After my car was done, no mechanic came to talk to me, my car was just sitting in the parking lot. I asked if my car was finished and told I could take my car now.I sold my car that afternoon. I only learned recently that months ago the same car broke down because there was no oil in it!! I told the new owner that they should have informed me right away. At purchase, I had given them all the paperwork to show that there had been an oil change that same morning, carwash, mechanic checklist, etc.Same car, same person, two totally different experiences. To be honest, I will never go back to CATS for an oil change or anything.else.My second Groupon will not be used.
I cannot say enough good things about this place. The staff is amazing. They take good care of my car and I trust them to do a great job at a fair price. And they legit have a cat at thier shop! I never like having to get work done on my car but Bones the cat is a nice distraction.
Interesting that all the reviews on here are very positive. I came here for the first time for an oil change this week. I was told as part of it there would be a quick courtesy inspection. Afterwards, they informed me that my rear brake pads had 10% life left and needed to be replaced immediately. They quoted me over 300$ to fix. Joke was on them from the beginning as I never pay to get my brakes done, but always just buy the pads for like 30 bucks and have my husband or father-in-law do all the labor.I bought the pads and as my husband went to fix them today, he discovered all 4 brakes were completely FINE. Clearly, I was taken advantage of because Im a petite young female who came in alone. They sensed that I knew nothing about cars, and used the opportunity to take advantage. They mustve not thought Id be smart enough to take the estimate to experienced family whom I trust. Says a lot about the character of a place if they would taken advantage of someone they thought they could pull a fast one with. Nice try. Will not be returning.
I went to Cats for the first time for an oil change, they were extremely polite and had very fair prices. I had been going to chains for all my repairs for the longest time and when I compared the the prices between the two, cats was almost half of what I was being charged for oil changes and repairs. They told me what I needed to get done on my car and it seemed fair, unlike other places where everytime I went in they had told me I needed $300 to $500 dollars worth of repairs on my car. I understand that as a female who obviously doesnt know very much about cars you usually get taken advantage of at auto shops, but I really did not get that sense at all from Cats. It was a very pleasant experience and they explained everything very thoroughly.
Have been going to Cats Auto Repair for at least a year for oil changes. Recently had my car worked on and have been fully satisfied with their work. Cal also text me to make sure the car was functioning well. Ive never had any other shop call me after my car was worked on. I recommend Cats to everyone! They are very courteous and professionals!
Its a very friendly environment and they are a wonderful bunch of people. They have top rated mechanics too that will get the job done in a timely manner. Rates are subject to the job done. Which are very reasonable prices. I would recommend them to anyone. So, when you need work done on your automobile Cats Automotive is the place.
We have been going to cats for 9 years now. Never had any issues. The employees are always very nice and the prices have always been very reasonable. As a woman I have been to places where I have felt like I was being taken advantage of. Never have felt like this at Cats Auto. I never hesitate if my husband can not bring our cars in bringing them in myself. Highly recommended Cats and the oil changes are the most reasonable prices I have found in the area.
It breaks my heart to write this review. I have been a loyal customer of CATS auto repair for many many years. I recommended them to friends and family over those years, none of whom still go to CATS because of suspicions of fraudulent practices. I however defended them to the very end…but that end is now.I brought my car in to CATS for a routine oil change, as usual, and was informed I needed $3,700 worth of immediate and serious repairs, including new radiator...there was major seam leak. The car must stay in the shop overnight for safety. I could not drive it home. It could EXPLODE at any time. The next morning, at the urging of my family who had suspicions, I took the chance of driving my “exploding car” figuring my gauges would let me know of overheating problems and brought it to another shop for a full evaluation. A team of Certified Master Mechanics determined all that was wrong with my car was worn windshield wipers...$35 repair. No “ low coolant, radiator leak in the seam, steering rack leaking at left inner seal, or leaking into bellows.” Hoses didn’t need to be replaced, nor did the thermostat, and didn’t yet need a tune-up, just windshield wipers. The other mechanics lifted the car and let me see underneath. There should’ve been evidence of some type of leaking of fluids and moisture but it was completely dry, even with it raining that day and the roads being wet.I was devastated and heartbroken. I’m a widow and a senior citizen. How could they have taken advantage of me like that?Don’t make the same mistake I did. If you consider yourself a long-time loyal customer and that they would never do such a thing to you, think again. They surely did it to me.
The nicest group of mechanics I have ever dealt with! They drove my to pick up my cousin from day care and home while they had to work on my car. Great group of people and extremely kind. Plus they have a really awesome cat named Bones there sometimes to comfort you if youre freaking out about your car like I was. I highly recommend!
Weve been going to Cats for years because of the great work they do and the reasonable prices. The owners are always on site. They are very involved in every aspect of the business, especially ensuring customer satisfaction. Everyone is professional, has great technical knowledge and experience. We would never take our cars anywhere else.Highly recommend! A++++++++
Had a little mishap after I picked my car up from here but they were very nice and professional and fixed the issue with no problem and they arent too expensive which is a plus. My car had to sit over night and I was accommodated with a rental for the time. Check them out, you wont regret it
There is no zero star so here it is.Dont let them touch your car if your life depended on it. I had them mount, balance tires and do the alignment. They run a special for alignment but dont provide a printout of before and after numbers. My car ended up pulling to the right even though it was driving fine before I took it there. The car was shaking above 50 mph after tires were changed. The balance was not done properly. I also discovered all 4 tires looked unusually bulged on the rim. Checked the pressure twice with 2 different gauges and it was 48 psi (tire max is 51). Luckily it wast a hot summer day. My wife could have had a blowout with 2 kids in the car. Normal pressures for my car are 30 psi front, 32 rear.To top it off, they didnt reinstall the wheel caps on the car properly and one was completely missing.I took the car to another place, had the balance and alignment done, and now it drives fine.If they screw up a simple job, imagine what would happen if they did something more involved on the engine and transmission.Stay away from this place.
I highly recommend Cats Auto Repair. These guys not only provide great service, quality work, but go above and beyond to make sure their customers walk out happy. All of the guys are very friendly and provide A+ service. If you have not been in here yet, Id suggest stopping in and giving them a try. Thanks Cats Auto Repair for helping me with my car!
Love Cats! Started taking mine, & all my familys vehicles here after I got tired of being ripped off at the Jeep Dealer in Schaumburg, & always having a hard time getting an appt. Cats is fair, fast, & always pleasant & polite, & goes out of their way to explain things whenever asked. Great service!
Got super ripped off. My car would not start and I had it towed to them because I had their coupon for free diagnosis. They said, they had to remove and check the ignition and passlock systems. And they found the fault was with the ignition switch and being in an urgent situation, I gave them the go ahead.Parts cost $97 which seemed okay. But labor cost, whoa..228! He would not explain how he applied the the coupon that I had. But mentioned, 2.4hrs of labor costs 228 and that 2.4hrs is the standard for this job. So total approx 335.Checking around, I see it should not have cost more than 200-250 even if he did not honor his own (valid) coupon for the diagnosis. Oh well, so much for supporting and patronizing local family owned businesses.. never again!
Earlier this week I heard some noises coming from my vehicle, so I took it to the shop in my town. They told me I needed a new engine! And it would cost me 3700 to fix... and I don’t exactly have that to waste. So me being who I am freaked out and didn’t know what I was going to do. I decided to get a Secound opinion, I went to CATS AUTO, from the time I walked in to the time I left JR ( cal ) and Jim gave me the best expiernce I’ve ever had a car shop.. they greeted me with smiles and took the time for me to explain everything I was going through with my car. Without a doubt they told me they would check it out right away to see if I really did need a new engine. Turns out I just needed new wires and plugs.. my cost went from 3700 to a couple of hundred I was so relieved!! I’ve never been to a place that has been so honest and so real on what I actually needed done to a veichle! By far recommend if you have any car trouble! They will get to the bottom of it and take the best care of you!! Ask for jr and jim !! Thank you guys !
They should call this shop Crooks auto repair .If a mechanic comments on how nice your shoes are its a big red flag. They invent problems with your car to perform unnecessary repairs. They sabotage your car to have you return later to fleece you.. when I discovered what they were doing I never returned.
I am not sure who give them good reviews? Pathetic service... if they provide such an extra ordinary services than why do they need to throw away coupons and deals to grab customers from different platforms?I won’t recommend them to anyone.... long wait time.....very rude staff....don’t bother to listen the problem maybe over confident.... I visited them and after three days same issue appeared in my car and I took it to another mechanic who told me that it was never fixed properly at the first place.Don’t trust their service.
Left my car and asked for a quote. They quoted me $1600 told them not to work on it. Called around and found another place that would do it for $800. Called Cats auto and they already started working on my car even though I told them not too. When I got my car back, it was running a little funny. Turns out my air intake was full of leaves. Thanks cats auto!
Good quick service. Make an appt. for a very fairly priced Oil Change and in and out as fast as the no appt oil change places. Also, they check all important items such as tires, brakes and battery condition to warn you of items needing attention.Highly recommend if you live/work in and around the Schaumburg area. I drove to them from Carol Stream because I like the service.
I wish there was an option for 0 stars. Complete rip off beware. My friends had warned me to stop going there but I continued going there. Couple months ago my sister wanted to get a oil change so I recommend she take her ford there, they did the oil change and than continued to tell her that she has a major oil leak and if she didnt fix it, her car would catch on fire. To get a peace of mind I had it checked out by a different mechanic and no oil leak found. Also got it checked by ford dealership and no oil leaks found. Giving them the benefit of doubt I continued taking my car there. Today I took in my Mercedes to get the battery changed which I purchased at autozone. I looked up a video on how to do it and realized I didnt have the right tools to remove 2 bolts that hold the battery down. Of course without a thought I called cats auto and they said bring it by itll be $20 to change it. I figured $20 is worth it for the time Ill be saving. When I got there, they went on to explain that changing a battery on a Mercedes was a 1.5 hours labor time (approx. $90) because when the battery would be removed my Mercedes has 6 ECUs that would need to be re programmed otherwise the car wouldnt start. Knowing my friends and sister had a bad experience about them being shady and charging for things not needed, I left for a 2nd opinion to Midas down the street. They were able to swap out my battery in less than 15 minutes and charged me $20. Also I learned there is no reprogramming of any sort required. Cats auto has lost my trust and my business for my 5 cars that use to be taken there on regular basis. Please beware of this shop. Also all recommendations came from owner himself who is usually there at the front desk.
Received same day service which is so important to me . Thank you Junior for your patience with me and for taking time to explain the details of the repairs I needed and getting me a great price on parts and labor .I definitely will recommend you to my family and friends .
CROOKS...!Junior quoted me $900 and change for a valve job, thermostat, radiator flush and spark plugs on a 10 year old Saturn Vue with 195k miles. He said I could get the valves done first (for a little over $500) and then take care of the rest at a later date.So thats what I did.About a week/half went by and I brought the Saturn back. NOW Junior wants to charge me an ADDITIONAL $800... for a radiator flush, thermostat and spark plugs!!Worse... he vehemently denied giving me the first quote, and then developed an attitude after I reasoned that I would have never agreed to spend over $1300 on a car with nearly 200,000 miles on it. In fact, even when he quoted me $900+ I had reservations about fixing or junking the vehicle... but I decided to fix it since Junior suggested I get the work completely incrementally. My error was not getting his first quote in writing... but I didnt think to do so because I already gave Cats approval to start the valve job.Needless to say I did not pay the additional $800+ (which was $350-$400 MORE than the original quote)... so the rest of the work was never completed, and I still have a second car with several issues.Bottom line Junior is a CROOK!If you do consider giving Cats your business, make sure you get ANY quote in writing, and with a date... or Junior may try to scam you too!!
A friend of mine had her tires slashed and we needed to find two tires. I called Cats and spoke with a gentleman named Junior. Junior told us to come in and gave us an estimate. We are really greatful for Cats and Junior for all the help. We recommend Cats in Schaumburg and would like to thank them for all the help.
What can I say about CATS Auto Repair? Well, my family and I have known the owner Cal for about 20 years now and have been frequenting CATS since its inception and even prior when Cal was the general manager at the previous establishment at the same location.I do not frequent a ton because I do al my maintenance myself and some repair work myself. But there is projects I am smart enough not to touch and let professionals take care of or there is instances wither I do not have proper (expensive) tools in which they have. But everytime I have gone in in those years it has always been a great experience because Cal and his son Cal Jr are great people to speak with and just have a conversation with when they are not busy.Cal in my view is all about honesty, integrity, and one thing I like is he is interested in getting to know you and like a ton of business today, he does not treat you like a dollar sign. He genuinely cares about you and your situation as to why you are there and he cares about the relationship he has with his customers. His prices have always been very fair and I can not stress the word fair.Dealerships want to take advantage of you and atleast in this area, Cal has given us a great solution to going to the dealership where you are just a dollar sign.Cal has ALWAYS been right on the button with his estimates and never a penny more.Whenever I drive past his establishment and his parking lot is chuck full of cars and all lined up down the side drive, makes me smile in a way because I know people are getting a fair shake in their time of automotive needs.Personally, I do not trust many people with my vehicles, but that feeling is way less when I need his services versus any other place. My Family and I have recommended a handful of people to CATS and will continue to.As far as turnaround time when needing work done, I have never found a problem. My vehicles are always done in the time frames he estimates, but knowing how things go with automotive work at times meaning sometimes things do go as smoothly as it should, I do not blow up his phone wondering why it is not done. But atleast it is always done the day he says it is and this is okay because jobs need to be done right.CATS is for the most part a family business. He does hire outside the family, but from what Ive seen he treats them like family also which that is a fare trait in America today and we need more small Mom & Pop types of business.I am confident that when Cal Sr. decides step away from the business and if Cal Jr is interested in taking over the business, I am confident he will operate it similar to his Father as I see Cal Jr to be alot like his Father.Cal always uses the best quality replacement parts available to him. So there is rarely an issue (with me atleast) over a defective part. But it has happened and Ive seen it happen a couple times w/ other customers and Cal will always make the situation right so you never have to worry.I mentioned that because reading reviews on the business other page, sometimes customers blame him/the shop for what is not his fault. But in these rare instances Cal will always try and make it right. He is good people and and I trust him and send others in for work because I know he will treat them right.
I have to say working with JR he always get My car in and out when I get a oil change also when there ever a problem they always find the problem I recommend this shop also one time I came in for my brakes pads to be change they offer me a detail on my car I went with it and I have to say this is one of best detailing jobs I ever seen... I will be back.

2021-12-16I took the car to get an oil change and they left the gasket open. I was stranded because of the whole oil leaking and then I had to get a rental car the next day. Because of that my car starter stopped working and Cats auto charged me $300 to repair. Also my car broke down a few months back after I took it there for an oil change. I had to get a tow but I didn’t connect the dots that it broke down after taking it to cats. This time I took the car after you fixed and they said the oil was low. That really upset me. I did read that this has happened before. I

2022-08-09Charged for 65 diagnostics, to see if its battery or starter.even though got service done there. Very over priced , staff is nice but I feel they are more expensive than a car dealer.90 dollar for battery installation and 20 dollars for battery supplies. 130 for battery. I am sorry , but would think twice coming back there... Most place charge very little of no charge at all if you buy battery from them.i am sure they charge a lot for other services as well. I took time to write this so it might help someone else who is reading before going and they do y get shocked like I did.

2022-05-13Pretty scummy, So I usually work on my own car, anything from engine down. Well I took it in for a specific test I wanted performed on my car(because I didn’t have the tool for it). Then they came out and told me everything I basically already knew (literally what you could get from your own reader tool Or just looking at the car data logs etc etc ) BUTTT they didn’t perform the test I asked for specifically for the car. So then they charged me for over an hour of labor (Cat wasn’t even there for An hour, and no work done to it at all!). So what I was told would be around seventy five dollars turned out to be over double that. Obv I didn’t fight it and didn’t let them know everything that I know, wasn’t going to make a scene there. Eventually I got the machine and solved the problem myself.Advice to you: Don’t trust this place, specially if you don’t know about cars, I can see this place is definitely the type to take advantage of people and squeeze anything they can from right under their nose. But if you must, go with someone that knows about cars.

2022-05-26PLEASE DONT WASTE MONEY HERE. I brought in my car for stalling and high idle. I spent 2300 dollars while in college which was half of my student loan money. I gave these guys the codes my personal scanner picked up they told me I needed an O2 sensor changed I had them do it come pick it up the engine light was on. They then said it needed a catalytic converter I said okay they did it I get it back drive it and it dies again 2 weeks later. I come back to have it checked and they tell Me its throwing the same code I told them it was showing and they say their initial scan never picked it up when I told them multiple times. they tell me I need to pay a diagnostic fee I told them I paid that initially along with $2300 Dollars they tell me thats that They wont see whats wrong with it. These guys dont have an honorable bone in their body because if they did they would find what they didnt fix and fix it. They took money from a kid struggling in college and left him 2300 dollars more broke and with a broke down car. Dont come here

2021-09-15If I could give 0 stars I would! Wasted 5 months of my life coming back and forth here. Originally came for an oil change in June and was informed I needed front brakes. I trusted CATS to do the correct work on my brakes. Well two weeks later…..GRINDDDD!!! Bring it back and they replaced the brakes and told me to not press on the brakes hard for the first 100 miles, okay done. 3 weeks later…..GRINDDDDD. They replaced them again and I was told the same thing. I decided to go back to them for an oil change again, they informed me they topped off coolant and windshield wiper fluids and the levels were “ok”. Well I’m doing a little highway driving and my car informs me that it’s running HOT! I wait until the next day and check the coolant and it’s EMPTY! I don’t have a leak as it’s been checked so CATS mechanic just never put any coolant in the car. Now fast forward two weeks after oil change incident……brakes still grinding and I bring it back. The gentleman at the front checking us in is RUDE and does not listen when we tell him we have had an ongoing issue with the FRONT brakes. I get the diagnosis that my BACK brakes are at 20 percent and need pads and rotors?? Excuse me, but as a mechanic doing oil changes and fixing my front brakes multiple times, you all never mentioned my back brakes pads needed to be replaced let alone the rotors as well so now I’m paying twice as much when you could’ve fixed the pads when you completed the front brake service. Rewind to the diagnosis and I specifically asked “so the front brakes are good? The grinding is the back?” He replied “yes, the back brakes needed to be done. Me stupidly allowed them to complete the back brakes and rotors and when I go to pick the car up, 5 seconds after pulling off…..GRINDD! I go back to the shop, and they have a mechanic come ride with us…his exact words “oh I didn’t hear that. I was listening for squeaking.” Huhhhhh???? So now my front brakes are STILL grinding and they inform me that my calipers and brake line need to be replaced, for an additional 700.00. You all should have listened to what I said when I dropped the car off and not misdiagnose my car 3 times prior. This is ridiculous and unprofessional and not one apology for wasting my time and money and being horrible mechanics that are just after your money.

2019-06-05This is the absolute best car repair place Ive ever dealt with. I came in for an oil change. They offered a fantastic price and even included a very thorough inspection. I had the mechanic actually take the time and go through what he had checked and he answered all of my questions. As a petite female, I have experienced other places take advantage of me when i was by myself in these situations. This place not only gave me an honest report on my car, but also told me what was most important to address and how long i should be able to go before it was necessary. Completely trustworthy. I will come here from now on and I appreciate fantastic, unparalleled service they provided.

2021-12-28I had an emergency situation this morning involving an almost empty gas tank, a locking gas cap, and a missing key to said gas cap. I was referred to CATS by the woman at OReilly Auto Parts and I was not dissapointed. I walked in panicked and walked out overjoyed with my experience. They were able to fit me in first thing this morning and assured me they would be able to help. It took the technician about 20 minutes to free my gas tank and get me on my way to work. I highly recommend!

2020-12-30What a lovely place. Great service, kind and welcoming staff. I got my oil changed there through a Groupon and I was having some issues with my car after. I called the staff and let them know the issues and they fixed a leak that I had no charge. They are great people and extremely experienced. My car runs great now!
