Never resolved my issue now I am out $400+ on trying to fix my computer now I’m being told I have buy a new computer because the replacement part you gave me was a bad part!! Now my computer won’t turn on at all. I would love to resolve this if you guys want to have the owner call me.
My computer was worse after this company touched it. I had a PC that was running slow from some malware. Basically, some annoying pop ups kept appearing. Other than that that the machine worked fine. Never had any start up problems. I couldnt remove the malware so I asked for a clean install of windows. Ive see this problem before and am an experienced user. They ran diagnostics and told me I needed hundreds of dollars of work. I declined since the investment wasnt worth it to me. I picked up my computer and it wont even start up! I returned and asked that the machine be restored to its prior, working condition. They treated me like an idiot and refused to take responsibility for damaging my computer. I strongly recommend against trusting this company with your computer.
These guys were of great help, rating second to only the Apple Store themselves! I took my four year old MacBook Pro that was having problems booting up, only to find out within hours that it was my logic board that had failed. They were able to order it and have it repaired within two business days and had me back to work! They were always very nice and respectful. It was a little pricey, but that is expected for any Apple parts. The cost of labor was commensurate with what I expected. All in all, it was a great experience working with these guys!
Awesome service! These guys are great. I brought my laptop to them after it got a nasty virus. They were very friendly and explained every step of the repair process. They worked non-stop on my laptop until they had it back up and running. They even included top-notch security software at no additional charge. They did excellent work at an affordable price. I certainly would recommend them for all your computer needs.
This is my go-to place for computer issues in Carbondale. I have a Mac, so finding a place that can deal with any issues in having without having to send it out by default can be difficult. They have great service here and very reasonable prices (my repair cost me $120 versus the $250-$300 it would have been from Best Buy).Because they are local they also are really committed to their customers. The initial repair didnt quite fix my issue, so they took my computer back, fixed it in about 1 day, and also didnt charge me for the second visit because it was the same issue.
Great experience! My 8 month old Macbook air would not turn on and was still under warranty. They contacted Apple and ordered two different parts and it was fixed in a week! This is a wonderful service to have in Carbondale as the closest Apple Store is 2 hours away. I will definitely use them again with or without an active warranty!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone with a computer issue. I needed something done with a flash drive with my wedding photos on it. I stopped in on a Saturday was greeted and helped right away. Both guys were so friendly and had my problem fixed within 20 minuets and with a reasonable price. If I have any other computer issues I will use them again.
Did not do a good job on my computer. Left the shell open. Gentlemen said he was in a hurry. For being the knly apple certified place around youre better off doing what I did and drive to the Apple store in St. Louis. He wanted $700 to fix my Mac apple apple charged me $450. Overall very unsatisfied with the service I received. Biggest waste of $60.
I couldnt start my MacBook Pro. Went to Carbondale Computer Repair at 10 a.m, they found that I need a new Hard Drive Cable, and I got it fixed at 2 p.m. So the whole process took them about 4 hours to fix. They know what needs to be done, the price was reasonable and Im pleased with the service.
A few weeks back my 2011 Macbook Pro began experiencing weird lines and distortions on the screen, getting so bad to the point that I couldnt even turn it on. A short phone call with Apple explained that this was a known issue and that a recall was even out on it, advising me to go to Carbondale Computer Repair for the work. Normally I would fix my computer by myself, but not being one to turn down free service, I was happy to visit. Carbondale Computer Repair took the laptop with almost no explanation needed, and had it back in my hands and fully functioning in about two days! Im glad I trusted this business with my laptop, and highly recommend it for anyone needing service—warranty or otherwise.
I had a Mac Pro that had gotten some malware on it that was shutting down the Finder unexpectedly. The young man at Carbondale Computer Repair got me fixed up in side of two days time. Work well done, and at a fair cost. The folks at this computer shop know what theyre doing.
When my computer froze, I performed all of the steps outlined by Apple support live chat. When their steps werent successful, they said I had a hardware problem and needed to visit an Apple Store. They provided me with a link to stores, and I was thrilled to find Carbondale Computer Repair. I walked in, and they were able to help me immediately. It took them some time, but in less than an hour, I walked out with a fully functioning iPad. I couldnt have been more pleased!
Update: 12/6/16 - Unfortunately, I need to lower my rating for this business. I took my laptop to them to have the power jack replaced. The laptop was under warranty, but I would have to pay CCR to back it up before I shipped it to Dell, so I figured Id just pay them to replace the jack and be done with it. I got my laptop back and the hinge was making a funny clicking noise. Within days, the case started coming apart and a screw fell out. I took it back to them and they tried to JB weld it back together. That lasted a couple weeks. I could not take it back in for a few more weeks. When I did, they ordered a new top casing and told me it would be $100 for the part. I spoke to the manager, who told me that it was not their problem, but rather normal wear and tear, and that its possible that it was broken when I brought it in the first time.I worked in the service industry as a carpenter for many years, and if I was going to work on something that might break in the process, I warned the customer up front and let them decide if they wanted to risk incurring the extra cost. If you want us to change the frame on this window, the glass may break and will cost you _____ extra. It is something that we will try to avoid, but is always a risk on these projects. My mechanics have always done the same thing. The manager acted like this was a common failure and that I should have known the risk. If they had told me up front that opening the case carried the risk that Id need to spend $100 for a new one, I would have sent it to Dell. Interestingly enough, this was not the first time that theyve opened my case (I had them install a SSD and extra ram in the past), and theyve never mentioned it.In the long run, they discounted the part so that it was just under $100 with tax. A $75 power jack replacement is now a $175 repair. I actually own the hardware and software to backup the hard drive myself, and could have had the jack replaced free by Dell, but chose to pay CCR to do it because I didnt want to break something while opening up the case.Previous review: I have used CCR for several jobs. Some have been simple software issues, but they also have installed hard drives and memory in several of my computers and optimized their performance. My work is data-heavy and goes much more quickly now. Their prices are reasonable, they are good about consulting with me before any major expenses, and they are quick to get the job done. Overall very pleased with their service.
They charge you $60 for inspecting/diagnosing your laptop (even if you have an Apple warranty, which they are certified under). They told me I might just want to buy a new laptop because mine would be so expensive to repair. In tears because I couldnt afford that, I was asking questions concerning my apple warranty, options, and the specifics of why they couldnt fix it.The lady who works there clearly became annoyed and cocked a huge attitude because I needed her to explain why my warranty wouldnt cover it. (My laptop had very minor water damage, even the sensors inside werent triggered by it, yet Apple and Carbobdale Computer Repair said it wouldnt be covered due to unnatural malfunctioning). Whether I agree or disagree, I understand why Apple wouldnt cover it. But being so upset in the moment, I needed someone to be specific with the details for me.As I was asking questions, I could tell the lady didnt want to assist me anymore as she goes ya well water and electronics dont exactly mix, thatll be $60.Thank you, Im not an imbecile. That comment felt like a huge shut the **** up. All I wanted was to get the details straight so I could decide what to do next. This decision is most likely going to cost me $1,000 that I dont have to buy a new laptop so pardon me for asking questions and making you do your job. Please seek some customer service training. You arent the one with the broken laptop, so Im not even sure what gives you the right to be upset with me. It almost makes me laugh how unprofessional you were, because all I did was ask for an explanation. I will not be returning, recommending, or seeking out services from here again, because of you. While the majority of my visit was horrid, not all of the workers were so insensitive. Thank you very much to the man also working there who gave me a refund on my visit (since I went twice in a month for the same problem and hence charged twice for the same diagnosis). The first time I went on my own and the second time Apple actually told me to go back, so I really appreciated the understanding and the refund from the fellow otherwise that wouldve put me out $120 instead of $60.My review reflects more of the experience I had with the elder lady than the quality of work Carbondale Computer Repair provides. My recommendation is if you have an Apple product with warranty youre better off shipping it in to Apple directly (if you cant take it to an official store) and getting it diagnosed for free.Im really quite sorry for the bad review because the men there were always incredibly nice to me and I know many people have had good experiences with the company, but that lady just ruined it for me. Adding wood to the fire when it was not necessary.
This group is knowledgeable about the high tech world. They do a thorough job quickly and efficiently. Most important to someone like me who doesnt really understand what goes on inside the computer or smart phone, they are honest. Example: My smart phone could not keep a full charge and I assumed that the battery was going bad. They tested the battery and then explained that my problem was being caused by apps that once opened continued to operate and update. They said I should simply turn off the phone from time to time to turn off the apps. They could have charged me for a new battery and installation charges but they simply returned the phone and educated me about apps.
I was having problems with my mac (it could not find the startup disk), and I couldnt do anything on my computer. As a college student, this is a really big problem. I did a quick google search on where to take my computer, and Carbondale Computer Repair came up... I am so glad that it did!! I walked in, no appointment necessary, and was out in about 30 minutes with a fixed computer. The service was great, and I will definitely be going back if I have any more computer issues in the future.
Short review. Fast, friendly, knowledgable, reasonable prices, great service! They do the job, they get paid. Their reputation is, shall we say... Solid.Long review. I was in town to help my mother in the hospital, I had tried to set her up so she could watch movies on her laptop while she was awake, and keep her from dwelling on multiple health issues. Found a nasty set of viruses and tried to remove them myself, ended up breaking her ability to connect to the internet. I was leaving town that night and still couldnt get her set up, googled and did a little research and found the awesome staff at Carbondale Computer Repair after best buy had tried to sell me Windows 8 and charge for install and wiping old system. CCR explained all options and that Microsoft conveniently puts the key on the bottom so you can reinstall. Anyway they wiped and reinstalled so I could get it back to my mom in time :-) and for a reasonable price for their work. Very cool people they made a rotten sitiuation a ton better by just being good at their jobs. Shiny!
So as you can see from the number of stars I didnt really have a great experience. However, I would like to start with the good. The people I spoke with at Carbondale Computer Repair were incredibly friendly. Very courteous people. They apologized when they felt they did something wrong and you could tell they actually meant it.Now the bad. I brought to them a laptop that they had diagnosed months ago as needing a new internal DC jack. I thought, that was something I could do myself so I purchased the part, go out my soldering iron and realized I dont have a lot of experience de-soldering. So still taken apart I brought it into them. I explained the situation and even gave them the part they needed. Just de-solder that, solder this and poof well be good. They quote me and tell me it should be done within the next week. So two weeks later I call, they cant find my laptop, its chaotic. Lots of apologizing, lots of confusion. I say, well just call me back when you have this sorted out. Long story short, they did not re-solder anything (they decided it was unnecessary) all they did was put my laptop back together. I think, oh well they must have fixed it some other way. I plug in the power cord and its still not charging properly. They say I need a new power adapter (on top of what they will charge me for putting my laptop back together), so I ask for one of theirs so we can prove that will fix it. They pull one out, same issue. Now they say that its because theirs is used just like mine. Now from a troubleshooting perspective, this makes very little sense.I ask them if they are still going to charge me for putting the laptop back together even though thats not the work I originally was quoted or even asked for. They say yes, because I cant dispute their claim until I buy a new power supply. Feeling frustrated but yelling isnt the civil thing to do, so I pay and leave.1. I never spoke with the technician that was working on my laptop.2. The people I did speak with were very nice.3. It is my opinion that if your technician says one thing but your customer is leaving without a fix and they are unhappy, perhaps you shouldnt charge them. As you didnt provide to them any actual service.*your mileage may vary.
I was originally told that it would take 3-4 days and would cost anywhere from 69-100 dollars. 8 days later and several attempts to get them to work on my computer, it was fixed, was charged 100 dollars and told that I was given a discount from 150 because it took so long.It was obvious that my computer was not a priority and they only worked on it after I came to the shop and complained.I will not be going back to this business.
Took my seven-year-old iMac desktop computer to their shop with problem of unable to send/receive gmail along with a few other very annoying problems. Service was successful and friendly and provide helpful suggestion to me. Pleased to note that this shop has a certified Apple technician aboard. I wouldnt go elsewhere.
They had my Macbook for over 3 weeks without ever giving me a quote. I called three times with no answer before I just went in and asked for it back. Guy attempted to give me a quoted price, seemed like he just pulled a number out of nowhere. Payed $60 pretty much for them to hold my laptop for 3 weeks. I would rather have travelled to paducah, than gone through this robbery.
The CCR techs are honest, incredibly good at diagnosing both software and hardware issues and are fast. When my Windows 10 PC started to lock up, they diagnosed malware and adware issues; manually downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft, recommended a newer WiFi adapter to replace mine that was going bad, and fine tuned the PC. If it were a race car, its clock speed would have to be measured in sonic jet speed. They take time to explain what issues need to be corrected and give an accurate estimate for repair. No hidden surprises. They are open til 6PM (M-F) and Noon to 5 on Saturday.
My problems were, fortunately, limited to malware/adware/trojans. I had very good results and very good customer service. I have a friend who is a local business man with a large number of computers and takes his to this business. He strongly recommended them to me. I am very glad I took his advice.
Garbage service. They took in my macbook to repair, didnt even look at it till the day I was supposed to pick it up. Shoved in the wrong screws on the bottom and messed up my laptop. No apologies or explanations were given. Stay away, youre better off driving to St. Louis and going to the actual apple store.
The folks at CCR did me a great job again. Confusers only last so long and I appreciate how they took good care of this old guy. I made the mistake years ago, in a moment of mental infirmness, to go to the big blue store with the yellow price tag. They took me for more than I want to admit and did nothing to fix my computer. I then went down the street and back to CCR and got it fixed at half of the fleecing price. Thanks go out to the crew at CCR.
Took my work 27 IMAC in for a graphics card problem. Required replacement card which was shipped overnight from Apple. Technicians worked with myself and Apple for this well-know problem and Apple ended up covering all expenses. Great service. Timely repair and saved me serious hassle and the 2 hour drive to St. Louis. Strongly recommend this business.
It was an alright place to have your computer get fixed or built a little pricy where normall a guy in my hometown charges $60 for a full build they charged me $100 to get the harddrive installed, the power supply hooked up,cable management, and the ai shield fixed and put back into place.it was a fast and very friendly experience!

2022-06-28Terrible! Do not take your computer here! I waited months almost a year and would have to reach out to them anytime I wanted an update of what was going on with my $1000 laptop which they “recycled” because they claimed to of left me a voicemail when I asked what the date was of this voicemail he said he was too busy to look! Long story short claimed they could fix my laptop screwed me out of a 1000$ laptop that they probably refurbished!

2021-11-12This is definitely the place I would return to if needed for computer or tech concerns. I came in for data recovery on an old laptop that would no longer turn on and the person explained to me thoroughly beforehand how the process would be like and explained to me what he is doing during the data recovery. I recommend this place to others for the teams knowledge and expertise, as well as great customer service.

2021-05-23Ive had mostly bad experiences with electronic repair places, so I was pleasantly surprised with this one. They fixed a laptop that I thought I had ruined. The main reason why I cant give five stars is because they had my laptop for over three months before fixing it. I probably would have rated them much lower for taking so long but they owned their mistake and apologized for taking so long, they replaced one of their technicians and just forgot about my laptop. They had even fixed the issue with it but never contacted me which I guess points more to their system being a little disorganized rather than them being completely incompetent. Id still recommend them though, they hired a new technician recently and he does good work and provided good customer service.

2021-03-14Ive taken my poor, poor laptop to them several times now and its always been fixed within a week. I love gawking at the fish tank too. On occasion, Ive had to call them back to ask if the computer is finished being serviced, but thats not a big deal. Only guys I go to around here.
