We were off to a rocky start here, but luckily our experience got better!**warning long post**First off, the front door was not too accessible from the parking lot due to the multiple tables and chairs out front (the outdoor seating is so cute tho!).Once we got to the front door, there was no podium near the door, so we just kinda stood there not sure if we should sit or be seated. The waiting staff zipped past us multiple times with no acknowledgement and there was no host/hostess in sight. After a few minutes of standing there feeling like idiots, I made eye contact with the bar tender across the resturant and asked him if we should seat ourselves? He advised someone would be right with us and told us to go to the back left corner of the restaurant to wait. STRANGE but we did as we were told.EVENTUALLY the hostess came back and apologized for the delay and advised she was busing the table outside (there was only 1 couple eating outside.) It didnt seem SUPER busy so Im not sure why the hostess was even busing tables.Once we were seated we were greeted by the loveliest waitress (forgot her name). She was super friendly and attentive and honestly helped mend our skepticism. We ordered a glass of wine which was priced at $8. Seems fair. We also got the caprese salad which was so fresh and yummy! Then, we were served a delicious Caesar salad before our entree. My husband ordered Alfredo pasta with chicken and he said it was decent. I ordered the vodka tomato sauce pasta with italian sausage and it was pretty good!Overall, not sure if I would go back since I feel like I could make the dishes we had at home but its definitely a place worth giving a try!
Five of us dined together. Three different entrees were ordered. Filet of beef, chicken Parmeseano, and eggplant Parmigiano. All of the dishes were well prepared and delicious. Quantities were generous. Prices were very competitive. Service was attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant was quite busy. It was New Years Eve!
Visited for first time on Friday night with 5 other persons. Indoor dining area is small. Our server was good, but they were understaffed and service could have been better. Five different menu entrees were ordered by the 6 of us. Everyone was very pleased with their choices, both the quantity, quality and price. We all said that we would be coming back again.
Service was great and the food was delicious. They serve from paninis, personal pizzas, to pastas and more. The servings were really good for the prices and they serve salads or soups while you wait for your food. And lets not talk about dessert... Delicious tiramisu and cannolis. Definitely a place to try.
Went here this past weekend for the first time. Service was great! The food was fantastic! I got the penne rustico and it was delicious! My mother got the rigatoni with Italian sausage and vodka sauce, and my sister got pasta with marinara and italian sausage....both were delicious! Prices were not bad at all and they give big portions. Ambiance was nice as well! Will be back again for sure
Placed an order for pick-up.... This was our Second time ordering.. Food is ok.. BUT the staff needs improvement.. HAd a rude encounter. Literally by two different staff members... in Literally seconds .. from walking in the door.. if youre picking up a order make sure you use the first entrance. Was so upset by the way they addressed us.That I literally was thinking about canceling our order, and walking out..
I am shocked that it took a gift card won in a raffle to get me into this wonderful little slice of heaven. I live 3 miles from this hidden gem and I cant believe it took me 20 years to eat here, in a place where I felt like I was home in Italy. Could have been the generosity of Frank, the humble owner, who took the time to visit with us and share a plate of his garden fresh and unusual tomatoes for us to sample the fruits of this years great harvest. The Aperol spritz and breadsticks to the PIZZA PADRONE made with “00” flour and pastas; we devoured PENNE RUSTICA and SPAGHETTI ARRABIATA SALSICCIA served by Phil who was busy, yet very informative and attentive. Even the free salad that came with my meal was beautiful, perky and so fresh, hubs caesar salad was definitely not just a salad either, I know sounds crazy to mention but so, so good! We were so impressed, we already have our next visit planned, he can’t wait to get his hands on the spicy italian sausage sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes and I am getting FARFALLE CREAMY GARLIC CON POLLO or TORTIGLIONE ALLA VODKA. I guess I have my next two visits planned:) Consider this my gift to you, your welcome!
Top notch! Service, staff and food are awesome! They catered my wedding and everything went perfectly. My fiance and I decided on a family style meal for approx 100 people...no issues whatsoever! Food was delicious and we received many compliments on appetizers which Frank created especially for us (a few mexican apps) as well as many compliments on dinner. They worked really well in the small kitchen space at my wedding venue. They made it happen! Totally recommend with no hesitation!
My husband and I went here tonight with our daughter and were so pleased! The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel comfortable! The food was great and the environment was so good! My husband also had a martini he really enjoyed! We will definitely be visiting again!
I ordered it for takeout for lunch. It tasted great and the portion was generous. It even came with a side salad that I wasnt expecting. And I must say, whatever the dressing was, it was delicious. I also ordered a side of cheesy garlic bread. It was on crusty Italian bread and it tasted homemade, although Im not sure if it was. great
From dining in to carrying out to big lunch catering orders - Cafe Roma never disappoints us. The food is always fresh, delicious and seasoned perfectly. The service is always wonderful and the owner Frank is so great! We order a variety of catering items and they have always been wonderful. Salads are always crisp and fresh - never brown. Meats are always hot and tasty. Sides are always plentiful and flavorful. Best restaurant in the area - hands down!
Cafe Roma is an outstanding Italian Restaurant with modern and authentic recipes. Weve been there many many times and never had a bad meal. In fact most of the meals have been outstanding. The staff is friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable. We highly recommend Chef Frank and Cafe Roma.
Picked up lunch for a few of us in the office because this is a popular spot for some of my coworkers. This was my first time and it did NOT disappoint. Very well done, high quality, and FRESH! My friends loved theirs too. Absolutely worth the price - you pay Panera prices for actually GOOD food! The tomatoes and mozz on my caprese were HUGE and i tried the jalapeno bacon as well - do yourself a favor and ADD IT TO YOUR NEXT SANDWICH!
We have been going to Cafe Roma since they opened. We have never had a dish we didnt like. We like the salads and daily soup selections. Pasta dishes taste so fresh. Recently had pan seared sole with spinach, lemon and capers along with rice....very tasty! Their pizza is the standard against which we judge all others. Service is friendly. Prices are reasonable. We try to get there or take out several times a month. Ive seen Cafe Roma from Rte 90 for a long time, but just stopped in a couple months ago. I now order food from there at least twice a week! They have lots of great vegetarian options and everything Ive tried has been delicious. I always order my food to go and they are very fast and friendly.
Angela put us on the vodka sauce it was life changing! Our first time here was amazing everything was so good! We came in for lunch it was filling. You dont feel bloated or stuffed after eating here but youre full and content. We had to take some of the food home good food good service good time. We went back for dinner that same night!
Always great food and great service. My family and I have been long time customers. We used to bring our son into the restaurant in a car seat and he is now 13 years old. This restaurant is just spot-on in terms of consistency and quality. Its a little off the beaten path, but once you find it, you are almost certain to come back.Everything on the menu is great. And I mean that. I would be very put out to find something I did not like. Personal recommendations include:Pizza Padrone (any size)Chicken ParmesanTortiglinone Alla VodkaFarfalle Creamy Garlic Con PolloAny of their soupsBut again, any of their items are excellent. They have done a great job with the Covid related challenges and I highly recommend them for take out if you are reluctant (as I am) to dine inside at this time. The food travels well.

Ive been a patron since this place opened. The lunch specials .. always yummy and reasonably priced. Dinner is a bit more expensive. Outside seating in summer. Good to-go options. Pizzas from special oven hit the spot, as do the linguine with mussels. Good mix of clientele... families, dates, business groups, friends. Owner Frank Redisi is excellent.
My office has bought us lunch from this place a few times but truly honestly the food is not great, it’s missing flavor, lots of it. I would not pay out of my pocket for this food. The staff is great, very nice people but the food just doesn’t do it for me. We, here at the office actually decided today that this place will be coming off our list for lunch options.
Cozy little place seems out of place in an office park. But dont be surprised. Cloth table cloths and napkins with candles on the table. Tasty, authentic Italian food. Specials include small plates for the health conscious. I highly recommend the ceasar salad with shrimp and my wife loved her personal size pizza. Give it a try.
A little hard to find but worth the effort. It is hard to find real Italian food in tth burbs. We ordered pizza and a chicken dish which had a lovely sauce. Wine selection was nice and reasonably priced. We came when it opened at 5PM and it was full by 6 pm. Try it! We all ordered different lunches and we all enjoyed them... I liked the white balsamic dressing for the salad.. the service was very good.
Went with a group of friends and we were all impressed - not only with the great food (some of us ordered Italian while others ordered fish and steak - everyones meal was very good.) And what made our experience even better was the friendly, efficient service we received. Would definitely recommend this to ot hers
This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch. Everything Ive had here - wraps, pizzas, pasta, sandwiches - is outstanding! I like that they have specials, too, so I can try new dishes. The location is a bit odd (inside an office building), but thats what makes it a hidden gem! They can get busy, so Ive found its best to come before 11:30 am or after 12:30 pm to avoid the lunch rush. Even better is to come for dinner on Friday or Saturday - they put out tablecloths and candles for a fancier vibe! :)
The location confused me but once we did find it and were seated, we thoroughly enjoyed it. (In an office park area) The service is fabulous and the food was wonderful and fresh. A little hidden gem in my opinion. The house salad and the margherita pizza were perfect for lunch.
Went here with my fiancé for a quick bite before a movie last weekend. The hostess gave us attitude because the reservation we made online had just called even though there was only 3 tables filled. Then she didn’t give us water, we had to ask the waitress and then wait another 5-10 min...we also didn’t get whatever those breadsticks were. Our waitress was friendly , the only reason this place got 2 stars, but that dang hostess and the kitchen staff jacked up the rest of the meal. Appetizer was meh and we didn’t get our soup/salad until after our entree, well most of the entree arrived, so they just got wasted. The Alfredo sauce was so thin and garlicky it was barely edible and required mass amounts of mints to be able to chat. The chicken parm looked amazing but in the second piece he bit into a large tendon or something and that is a meal ender for sure! The waitress offered a free dessert for the soup/salad mix up but at that point we just wanted out. So disappointed...
The location is unique but so is the food. This is another example of how fresh ingredients make a huge difference. However, you still need to develop great flavors and they do that here. Service was done with a family flair. You get a first class experience in a casual environment here.
Cafe Roma is a good Italian restaurant with moderate prices. The menu is great from pizzas to Pasta to salads. The service is as good as any Italian restaurant youll find. It was a very pleasant experience. They are open for lunch everyday and dinner on Friday Saturday. Enjoy a good meal there.
We ordered pizza which came out real fast however the dough seemed uncooked in the middle. Customer service was very good. They gave a complimentary smaller pizza and dessert. The smaller pizza had the same issue. Perhaps they keep the oven temperature too hot for faster baking but doesnt allow the pizza base to get crispy enough. Nice place, staff, owner but they gotta work on pizza baking.
Would give negative stars if possible. Came here yesterday for lunch with a group. It was our first time eating here. Ordered a chicken Cesar wrap and was violently ill for the next 24 hours, most likely food poisoning since it was the last thing I ate that day. I called to inform management and spoke with the owner who was incredibly nonchalant with my concern that other customers might be eating contaminated food. Owner offered no resolution and was very defensive, saying the restaurant will take no action since I was the only person to call reporting food poisoning. It doesnt take much for food contamination to occur. Open food containers, improper storage, improper cooking, etc. A number of things could factor into food becoming contaminated. The fact that this establishments OWNER would not pull the menu item ingredients off their shelves is astonishingly vile. DO NOT EAT HERE. The owner has no concern for their customers wellbeing or continued business.
My boss and I ordered the soup and salad special for lunch the other day. I wasnt too excited to try the vegetarian chilli at first; however, I was extremely pleased!!! The chilli had huge chunks of veggies which satisfied me enough where I didnt even think about meat. It also had the perfect amount of spice to keep it interesting. I would definitely order this again!
This place is truly a hidden gem in the area. Nestled in a corporate park, it can be considered too out of the way for most people. My wife and I lived in the area for 10 years before trying it, now its basically our every friday night dinner spot. Truthfully, I dont really like chicken marsala...but thats all I get here. It is FANTASTIC.They are now open on Saturday nights too! Ive recently realized this is one of the only restaurants in the area that my wife and I ever get a repeat server. All of the people that work here are amazingly friendly (even the cooks in the back say hello) and most have worked here for as long as Ive been going (about 3 years). Highly recommended!
I wish I could give more starsThis place is a little hidden gem when I first pulled up I was sceptic due to the location but I am so happy I went in and gave it a chance. I had the fettuccine Alfredo and my wife had pasta with a vodka sauce both dishes were amazing and full of flavor. The desert was on point. We had an amazing experience and will start dining there on a regular basisFinally I am really hard to please when it comes to food and cafe Roma hit this one out of the park I just hope they don’t change what the have super place highly recommend it
I have to say that Cafe Roma is hands down the BEST little cafe in Chicagoan. Its nestled inside a building in a commercial business park but that does not detract from the quality of food AND service. I gave it 5 stars because I cant stop thinking about the food I ate there this past week. This place is a hidden gem and Ill be coming back really soon.
I was absolutely pleased with everything here, from the homemade breadsticks to the wine! The house salad was delicious, I feel like I could have eaten it for dinner alone! I order the fetacinni alfredo which was delectably creamy and cooked to perfection! I will be coming here whenever I want wonderful Italian food. Highly recommend.
Soooo impressed with their menu and wine selection. Unfortunately the location is hidden in an industrial park and they have weird hours. The food is AMAZING though and thats what matters. Highly recommend this place for catering and if you can make it for their lunch rush;) DELISH!
Best hidden Gem in Elgin, better than anyone else in Town. Including Maggianos. The server treated my 9yr child as if she mattered. She was allowed to draw on the white paper covering the table cloth. The food is Gorgeous.I gave 4 stars only because they are closed Saturday & Sunday. Wish they were open on wknds. So my Fiancee could try it with me.

2022-02-25Best Italian Ive had since my visit to Milan, Italy. Chef Frank creates a masterpiece in every dish! It was a pleasure and honor to have a Cordon Bleu Chef cook for me, but not pay the Michelin star prices! This is my new favorite restaurant in the US!

2022-03-30Wonderful service + exquisite cuisine = top notch experience.Whether youre dining in or taking out, the food is always excellent and their service is professionally hospitable. I do recommend that you make a reservation in advance either by email or phone to make sure you get the seating location/type at the date you want, as it does get busy rather quickly so dont miss out!

2022-06-14Attended a private event in this space. Casual atmosphere with great food. The pizza was fantastic, thin crust, NY style. It was more of an appetizer event, but everything was great. From the shrimp cocktail, to the charcuterie board; all excellent! If your in Elgin, stop by for great italian food and relax!

2022-06-18The service over exceeded my expectations to say the least! If you are truly looking a high end upper echelon restaurant well this will satisfy you.

2021-08-22This is our first experience and we were thoroughly impressed. We chose the outdoor patio on a beautiful night. We thought it was a new restaurant specializing in pizza and sandwiches but the expansive entree menu, appetizers and dessert were exquisitely prepared by Frankie, owner and chef. Sarah, our waitress, attended to us with a personal touch. Our daughter had ample gluten free options, shown enjoying her dessert. Next time, we’ll bring a group. Reservations recommended.
