Lonely place and Bad customer service. Went there for for dinner to sit out in the patio one a beautiful night. Immediately after sitting we smelled smoke. Did not think much of it until after we ordered. Some other guests that look to have been there for a while started smoking. I asked them if they can hold off on smoking while we eat as it can be hazardous to my asthma. Instead they giggled and offered to switch spots. I refused since the smoke still travels. And why would I want to eat where they have been smoking. Instead the other guy lit another. Clearly no respect for a fellow man.The waitress, instead of following the Illinois guidelines, said she doesnt make the rules and it is a smoking section. Illinois guidelines says no smoking within 15 ft of the entrance, vent or windows. The two smokers were 3ft from the front door and door to get to the patio. There was no signs to indicate a smoking section nor were we given the option of a non smoking section. No apologies from either smokers nor staff. Now I see why it was empty during peak dinner hour. Ive been there twice before but wife never liked it and we finally had a chance to go and now they have lost me as a customer. Such a shame, I had high hopes for them to succeed clearly they are doing something wrong.
Food is good but after the service we received yesterday, don’t think I will be back. Went for diner and Briki was fairly empty, yet service was horrible. Young waitress kept forgetting everything and took 30 min just to bring our drinks. After food finally arrived asked for silverware and ketchup. Completely forgot and 10 min later I had enough and went inside to get it myself. Very poor service. Manager needs to get staff on point.
Highly recommended!!Tried this place when craving gyro one day, found it on google, and LOVED! Had to tell my parents to come here because they are big fans of gyro and they LOVED! Just the right portion amount, I would recommend to ask for more of that white Greek sauce on the side if you enjoy it! Other than that very nice environment as far as I can tell from going in and picking up. Staff is friendly as well! Happy munching! 🤤
After an amazing day at the Cantigny Park, with my date, we decided to go get some food. She was in total control, and decided to surprise me, she put directions into google maps, and onward we went.On the way to this hidden gem, we drove past a couple honorable mentions, like Famous Daves, Taco Bout It, and Culvers. I am glad we didnt stop at any of those fine establishments. We got to the parking lot, and my eyes widen up at the sign, it read... Briki CafeI honestly never heard of this cafe before, I was intrigued. She parked the car, I grabbed my phone, which at the time Spotify was playing in the car.We locked hands for the first time, and started to walk towards the cafe. My phone accidently continued with Spotify when I put it in my pocket, and started to play, Im Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclamiers. It was a special moment, and one to remember from time to come. You had to be there, it was adorable.Once entering the Briki Cafe, something caught my eye, I asked my date if this was a Greek restaurant? She glances up at me, and says yes! I knew this was going to be a great experience, because I like Greek Food, well done by her. We sat down in our booth, and surprisingly had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We order dos waters, and started to look over the menu.First thing that caught our eyes, were the Loukoumades. I knew we were gonna come back to those, so I played coy. We looked over the starters, right away we saw... Gyro Fries... SOLD! We placed an order for that immediately, and they turned out amazing. I wish the tirosalata was more on the top, most of it fell on the bottom. We moved onto the sandwich section next. Full Disclosure, my date wanted to do breakfast, but I convinced her to do lunch with that Gyro Fry order. I apologize to my Dork, and thank you for your sacrifice. She told me to order for the both of us at this point. I think she was over it, so I decided to do two sandwich options, and split them, that way we can try something new. We ordered the Street Food Wrap, and the Goat Cheese Wrap. My date said a beautiful prayer before we proceeded with our meals. The food turned out amazing. I am thankful that she dragged me here, and was patient with me.We finally got full, and decided to get some to-go boxes to put the leftovers in. The waitress brought the boxes over, and the bill. While my date was boxing up the leftovers, I asked her if she wanted to do dessert? This is where the Loukoumades come in play. I honestly didnt know that was the name of them. They are like small fried doughnuts, very yummy. When the waitress came over, we asked if we can do dessert. My date started to describe them, and the waitress started to list the different types. As soon as she listed Cinnamon Roll, my date and I slowly looked at each other, and mentally agreed upon that choice. I told the waitress thats the one, you dont need to continue. She convinced us to split the order to try another flavor, we agreed upon Nutella as the 2nd choice. You think we were going to say No? We split our sandwiches, why not try with the dessert. The Loukoumades took about 8 mins to fry. Once they got to our table, the waitress insisted that they were extremely hot. I went for one! The Cinnamon Roll Loukomades were calling my name, as soon as she mentioned it as a choice. I was excited, and popped that sucker right in my mouth. Instant regret, I mumbled to my date in mid conversation, ITS HAHHHHHHot. She goes in instant tear mode. Starts laughing so hard, she starts to cry. I ran out of water, that how fresh they were, and had to share hers. The waitress comes back, and asked how they turned out? My date threw me underneath the bus right away, So you know when you said they were hot? This dork, had one right away, and almost burnt himself. They both laughed at me. lol good times.I gave it 4 Stars, because there was one fly that was bothering us the whole time, we named her Athena after awhile.Great Service. Amazing Food. I would love to go back with her, to try the Breakfast.
Insanity!!! The best omelettes in the Chicagoland area HANDS DOWN! Plus they are huge! They use six eggs and the ingredients they incorporate are plentiful and fresh with a lot of flavor. The prices are very reasonable too. Their egg and lemon soup is the best Ive ever had. The service was solid and the atmosphere is modern and cozy. This is a destination restaurant without a doubt. Im very happy my friends brought me here!
We recently held our daughters first birthday here in their new private party room and everything was amazing! We had about 55 people there and everyone was more than comfortable. The food was AMAZING! Everyone complimented us on choosing Briki Cafe and how great everything was. The service was equally AMAZING! Everyone was ordering drinks, speciality coffees , etc and they were on it! We will definitely be going back and having other events there! We highly recommend Briki Cafe!
I had the street wrap, with fries. The sandwich itself was phenomenal, pork belly was awesome. The level of BBQ sauce was on point. The flavors all mended well. The fries were a bit lackluster, and the calamari was dry. The sauce that came with it was also simply okay. Overall the cafe was gorgeous and I had a great time. Waitress was on point, Id definitely take a date here.
Sadly, very disappointed. We went to get loukoumades -- think: Greek yeast donuts -- and they were thick as can be, as if they were made with regular bread dough (they should be light and airy, like a yeast donut -- these were like someone took bread dough and fried it). But worst of all, the reeked of yeast and alcohol -- the dough was overproofed, i.e., they let the dough rise way too long, so the yeast overgrows and fills the dough with alcohol. Im Greek. They were inedible. Unfortunately, we didnt try them till we got home, or Id have returned them. The place is very cute, and Id be curious to try their other food, but these are not by any stretch of the imagination loukoumades -- and, because of their yeast taste, we threw them out. Ugh.
No clue why this place only has 4.3 stars. I have been here several times and this place is AMAZING. One of the best restaurants around. Breakfast and lunch offerings are delicious, and be sure to try the Greek coffee. Regular brew coffee is also outstanding. Highly recommend the gyro salad, and any of the breakfast offerings with pancakes - theyve got a delicious buttermilk pancake here.
Found this last night by accident while driving on Lake Street. Decided to try it for breakfast today. Turned out to be a good decision. We were greeted inside and explained all orders are placed at the counter. Breakfast consisted of a one page selection. However, we were quite pleased this IS NOT your everyday cafe menu. Unique items. My wife had a toast selection which was two slices whole grain toast open face topped with, avocado, eggs & pesto. Looked great and she has nothing but positive things to say about it. I had the hash dish (choice of three meats) lamb, chicken and pork served over home style potatoes, green peppers, red onion and topped with two eggs of your choice. Delicious, the portion sizes were more than either of us could finish. Additionally offered are several really nice pastries and a good variety of coffee drinks. Yes we will be back.
Clean, fresh environment - clean fresh food. One of us had the gyros flight and I had the pork chop special. Both so delicious and full of flavor. Save room for the homemade donuts! Staff was friendly & accommodating. Located in a strip mall with ample parking. Outdoor seating available. ADA accessable.
Its a place with great lunch/dinner food, friendly staff, and quick service (if desired, but youll never feel rushed to leave). It also has a cozy atmosphere that invites you to sit and study or chat with friends for hours. The keftedes appetizer is delicious, with a generous number of delicate Greek meatballs, fresh cucumber, and a tzatziki-like dipping sauce. The Greek soup is a tasty creamy lemon-chicken soup. The steak sandwich is delicious when ordered medium rare, and the side salad that comes with it is a generous portion of fresh mixed greens, cucumber, and tomato. The Greek donuts and other pastries are pretty tasty, but sometimes too large of a portion for my group. Im not a coffee drinker, but those who order say its near the top of their list. Ive only been for breakfast/brunch once: it was satisfying, but not as uniquely delicious as the lunch/dinner favorites Ive tried.
Breakfast Toast is awesome! It has avocado spread, tomato, fresh mozzarella, a poached egg, and pesto. Very tasty! I recommend Briki for their food, but management is excellent, too. There was a minor issue with our breakfast, and the manager comped our whole meal, which was very kind. But he also gave us a $25 gift for a return meal. Thats very good business to me!
Great food, terrible service. Server was absent minded and almost argumentative about the order when we had questions. She forgot my drink order, forgot about the appetizer, brought the appetizer with the main dish, so on and so forth. Perhaps it was just that server and not the entire staff but it definitely left something to be desired. Food was great when we finally got it however.
Updated: so I was super excited after the first time I tried Briki. Except the next two times proved that maybe I was just really hungry when I tried it the first time. Anything would have been amazing. So I thought maybe the second time we tried it, it was just a fluke, but then the third confirmed thats likely not the case. The gyros are just ok, the meat just okay. The tzatziki is still AMAZING, but the rest was mediocre at best. The meat was dry and almost flavorless. The pita was just ok. The fries just as gross as the first time, oily, soggy and overall just not what you would expect a fry to be. Coleslaw, still good. We have tried several other entrees, and they were nothing that great. So I did three tries with Briki and I will not be back. The breakfast food is more appealing, but its not something I would go back to get especially at their prices. And no, Im not cheap, I will spend the money if I think its worth it.Original: So I heard this place was good, so of course, I had to try it. It lived up to the hype. The gyros were delicious. We tried the lamb, pork belly and chicken gyros and they were literally some of the best gyros I have ever had.-The tzatziki sauce was absolutely delicious!-The coleslaw was equally delicious.-We also got the meatballs and again, delicious.-Then we got a bacon double cheeseburger and to be honest, the actual beef patties had no flavor, but the toppings were to die for. The bun, homemade pickles, mayo, lettuce, and bacon...omg they were so good. Considering its not a burger place I cant hold the lack of flavor in the meat against them, especially since the toppings were amazing.-The only real downfall we found were that the fries we got were super soggy and full of oil. We tossed them in the oven and in about 6 minutes they were better. Still really flavorful, just wish they werent so soggy.- prices are slightly higher than if you were to get a gyro from a greasy spoon sort of place, but its totally worth it and you can taste the difference.Overall, it was a really great experience and we WILL be back. I strongly urge you to give it
I really enjoy this place for their attentive service and care for details (for example, the maple syrup for your breakfast comes to the table warm and it makes all the difference). The food and the coffee are very good, and the setting is open, comfortable, and full of light, always with good music playing. Love coming here, whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Great Greek food place and coffee shop. I have been to this place with my family several times now and had no problems. The food is very authentic (been to Greece several times myself) and delicious, especially the grilled octopus. Its a pretty new establishment. The interior is nice and roomy, not claustrophobic like a Starbunks. Great tasting desert products that go well with coffee, especially the large plate of loukoumades! No hesitation to return, even at the 40 minute drive. It is actually incorrectly placed on the Google map. It is on the corner of the shopping center, not on the street.
Had the Hustlers smoothie, wasnt bad just little to much peanut butter for my liking. Sadly didnt think to ask what their protein powder was made from which Im guessing it was dairy as I was in stomach pain the rest of the night. Which is totally my fault but would recommend them letting customers know. Their bathroom didnt have any paper towels so had to use toilet paper to wipe my hands off.
We loved this place. There are so many options for vegetarians here! The plates look pretty and the food is great. I also loved the single Ibrik coffee with hazelnut and honey. We will be visiting this place again and again to try everything on the menu. The desserts look interesting too!
Definitely come to this restaurant if you want cold food, terrible service and to be ignored. Once my husband and I FINALLY got our food, it was cold (but to their credit it was delicious). Because I believe in an honest review, my husband came here the weekend prior and had excellent service and his food came out just fine. ....so maybe it just depends on which day you come...
Service is terrible. As soon as I walked in, 2 servers argued and raised voices about where to seat me. After being seated, the unfriendly server brought me water, and never came back to take my drink order. All the while waiting for my 2 other guests to arrive, she proceeded to take the order of 3 gentlemen who walked in way after me. Real nice.Outrageous.
This was the 1st time we went to Brikis and definitely the last.I ordered eggs benedict and the english muffin was completelysoggy. I believe they must have poured the water from the poached egg all over it. We asked for place settings 3 times and ended up taking them from another table. Asked for a refill on water twice before they refilled our glass. The restaurant was not the least bit crowded, I can see why. Awful food.
We ordered loukoumades, frappe, spanakopita with wild greens salad and tiropita. Everything was good except the greens were really wilted. I had to pick out the wilted parts and ended up with half of salad on the side of plate . Disappointed on this part! When I mentioned it to the young server, she didn’t know what to say. I just brought it to her attention for her next customers. Definitely agree that the servers need more training on customer service. And more attention to fresh ingredients. The place is modern in design and it doesn’t feel cozy like a coffee place should be. It’s a sit down place with a fast food feel where you get your food, eat it and leave. For a taste of Greek food this is good, but not the best by any means.
This place is amazing!! Definitely worth the drive! Food is outstanding had the gyro flight and everything was seasoned to perfection! I had the chai tea latte and that as well blew me away!! This place is a must try staff was warm and inviting and will definitely be back!!
Very disappointing. The cafe was not busy, but our server was extremely inattentive. After our order was taken, we waited 40 minutes before informing our server that we only had around 40 minutes before we had to leave for a flight. The server had to ask us if they even took our order. After 20 more minutes of waiting after telling them we had to leave by the top of the hour, we left. We went to the counter pay for the drinks and appetiser we did receive, but they did the right thing and waved our bill. The loukoumades we had were tasty and I was looking forward to having my meal, but that was not to be. Upsetting and disappointing, especially as our hosts informed us that the establishment was great the previous times they went, even when it was far busier. Two stars for the tasty loukoumades, otherwise, my rating wouldve been one star.
Its ok. The wait staff is mostly young girls and friendly. The Greek coffee is acceptable and the food average to above average. The loukoumades, which were features on Chicagos best were sub par and didnt live up to expectations. They were ok, but the syrup was clover honey, not a more traditional light syrup, the ground walnuts were almost whole, and there was virtually no cinnamon or powdered sugar on them. Dont know if I would go out of my way to return.
I loved this place when I went there for the first time, but somehow something changed..the quality of food and coffee went down, some servers are excellent and nice and others just don’t want to be there or aren’t picking up on customer cues. I keep going back to give it another chance but what comes to the table just isn’t consistent. Love you guys but step up your game :/
Fantastic service I had Victoria for my server she was fantastic great personality very helpful I had breakfast there and it was fantastic I loved it and I had two orders of the loukoumades and now theyre gone I wish I would have ate them there but I will be going back very soon.
This place had great potential and i love the atmosphere. However the staff needs some training when it comes to waiting, the staff didnt know where the food went and gave us the wrong order, it defeats the whole purpose of the number system they have! This place needs some extra training!
The food was ok, the waiters were terrible, they did not know their work, they were not welcoming, they brought food, but there was no knife and fork on the table, even when we asked to bring it , they didn’t bring it,we took it from another table. the service is terrible.

2022-05-28Great spot! We had a group of 8 (ages 5-70 y/o) for brunch and everything was spot on! Wait staff was very attentive, food was delicious and holy portions! All plates were huge: fluffy pancakes, perfectly cooked eggs, hot coffee, great smoothies. Definitely something for everyone. We will be back again!

2022-02-15I had a pick up order this past Saturday. The person handling the call was very pleasant - didnt catch his name. The older lady who actually helped me at the counter was initially not very polite. This was my first time so I did not know where to go and how it works but she certainly needs to brush up on greeting clients and customer skills. The rest of the ladies were real nice. The food was good - not fantastic. The skewered chicken was dry, and for all the rave I wished I could give it more stars and it was editable, it was not good enough with the prices to bring my business back. The soup was just broth, barely any rice, the greek chicken was tasty and juicy - though the veggies provided were thrown together and made no sense how this would pair up with greek cuisiene and very overcooked, flavorless. The restaurant itself was beautiful, clean and I wished it could be a better review but dollar value and food just arent paring up as well as expected.

2019-11-03We were recommended to this place by the barber shop near. GREAT REC.The staff is super friendly. Dena talks to you as if you are family & makes you feel at home.We were really hungry so we ordered the gyro plate (beef/lamb), the breakfast gyro, side of greek potatoes, and a croissant french toast. The portions were large, good enough to share. Everything was delicious. From the gyro meat, sides, french toast. It was all so good. Pricing is great for the portions you get.I would definitely make the drive out this way again.

2019-01-30Well this was my first time checking this place out. Initial reaction was this place is very clean and very modern design. The staff was also nice and very helpful. I ordered the Gyro ( traditional ) with French fries, gyro salad ( traditional ) and loukoumades. This was a to go order and I want to say the ride home smelled amazing 😂😁. My fiance loved the gyro salad and I enjoyed my traditional gyro and loukoumades. The only issue I had was my fries were very overcooked like very hard to bite so I didnt eat many of them. At first I thought maybe this is how they make fries here so I looked through some reviews and sure enough other patrons fries definitely didnt look like mine so Im not sure how the cook missed this 🤔🤷🏽♂️. Overall I still rated them a 4star and will be back again because the over cooked fries I can look past the first time and the rest of our food was great.

2020-09-20Food is always fresh and delicious. I have been here many times and never had anything that i didnt like. Selection is unique and you can find something you will like.
