Bluestone in other cities:
Hands down our favorite place to eat in the neighborhood. Weve been coming for years to enjoy the smoked wings and thin crust pizza. My wife can always find something healthier on the menu. Hats off to Victor who always greats us warmly and generates good karma for everyone around him.
Local place for local people ;-) but welcoming. Food is nothing special but its not meant to be; it is prepared correctly.. decent beer selection on tap. Four big sports TVs. Barstool bar, booths, and tables. 420 friendly i believe.. last four digits of their order-ahead/takeout number are 0420. Outdoor (sidewalk) seating & they allow smoking there. Cheers!
John the owner takes care of his employees and customers. They’re all friendly, happy, fun and loyal, so that says much about how the place is run. They have an extensive selection of beers and the food is fresh and delicious. Many customers order take out and have a beer and chat with other patrons while they wait. The atmosphere and owner John make it a place that you immediately feel welcome at. I highly recommend this place over any in Wilmette, including Village Tavern.
We had last minute plans to meet some family in Evanston for dinner. After discussing some options, we picked Bluestone. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and had delicious dinner. Our server (Claire) informed us from the start that she was new and in training but she took care of us like a veteran and answered all questions we had. Thanks for a nice evening.
Never a bad meal. Ive been coming here for over 1 year now pretty regularly and the staff is awesome and the food is always consistent AND good. The drinks are a fair price they wont gouge you with a 14 dollar drink. Taco Tuesday you can walk out the door for under 10 bucks for 3 tacos. Mucho gusto!!
The host was very pleasant. I ordered the fish and chips (fries) and coleslaw. The fish was very good though I did eat it out of the coating. I believe the fries are freshly made and the coleslaw was excellent! Dina was my server and was there with a smile when I needed anything and was not when I didnt. All and all a very enjoyable experience.
Really comfortable environment, nice list of Beers, and really good food. I love the chicken sandwich, and the fried pickles. I highly recommend it to families as well. The only thing I wasnt impressed with so far was the pizza, but that might just be a preference thing.
The weekly specials are fantastic (BBQ platter on Monday is my favorite), the daily specials are a treat. My better half vouches for the drink menu and I like almost everything on the menu. They have good music and sports on nice TVs but both can be ignored if you just want to sit by the fireplace or enjoy the patio. The service is always good and Victor is incredibly hard working and a real fixture of the place. This is the neighborhood bar/restaurant most neighborhoods wished they had.
Great place for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The menu is simple but complete. They usually have a good beer selection and service has always been good here. They have been accommodating to minor menu substitutions and additions for others in my party which always makes customers happier.
Excellent food. Cozy yet spacious interior. We ate lunch here at 3pm on a Thursday. The greens and veggies were fresh, and the sauces were flavorful. I had the B.C.O. sandwich and would highly recommend it. This seems like it would be a good place to watch a game as well. Extensive beer list and good coffee.
So much more than just a neighborhood restaurant (but that, too), Bluestone has surprisingly creative and always delicious fare. It is my go-to spot for catching a game and enjoying some outstanding smoked chicken wings, a delicious burger, great pizza - you name it, they have it. Plus, Bluestone has an incredible selection of beer and staff that treat you like family. Ill confess that there are weeks when I am there several times, especially in the summer. Its worth moving to the neighborhood just so you can be within walking distance. My son, now in his third year living in Milan, IT, misses Bluestone more than any other restaurant in the US.
Nice bar and grill in the Central Street shopping district. We chose to eat al fresco due to the loud inside volume. The street front ambiance was pleasant and relaxing. My friend had the special, a meatloaf sandwich, in which the meatloaf was delicious, however she was disappointed by the fact that the server hadnt mentioned that it was covered with melted cheddar. I had the bison burger with sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, the server didnt ask how I wanted it prepared and it arrived well done when I would have preferred medium. The sweet potato fries were however, the best Ive ever tasted, just crispy enough outside with a soft almost creamy inside.
Ive only been three times and have no complaints. Very kid friendly. Attentive professional service. Food is definitely higher quality than one might expect just walking in off the street. Portions are ample but not too much. They have tater tots which is incredible. Street parking can be hit or miss at times but there is a City surface lot not too far and sufficient side street parking.
The chicken wings had little hairs on them??? The waitress said it was “normal” for that but I don’t think so... Came back to take our re-order and asked if we’d had a “change of heart”. The mac n cheese rolls have literally no flavor even with bacon. The fries are good but I guess we got the end of the batch because I don’t think there was a fry longer than 2 inches in the whole basket. She charged us for the wings, too. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
One of my favorite spots in Evanston. Good for watching sports with good beer and good food. And lots of options on both. They are mastering the art of good college sports bar with a slightly older crowd. Would definitely bring my kids here for a day time game and some munchies.
The food is excellent, however our server constantly dissapeared and at one point we could see her kissing a guy and saying goodbye to him...While we were trying to flag her down... So we could pay...Other than that they have great beer on tap and more than a few things on the menu that are attractive options .
Updating this as all restaurants are being ordered to close: Please pick up food to go from this fabulous gem of a neighborhood restaurant. Im buying a gift card today and getting a large pizza. This place is the heart of the Central Street neighborhood, lets keep that heart beating.
Very average food for the price point. On the exterior, its looks like an upscale eatery and the interior shouts sports bar/Salinger’s from Party of Five. Menu items are slightly ambitious (seared scallops w butternut squash risotto) but lack in skill and presentation (scallops were overcooked and in contrast, the risotto was undercooked). Pot pie was unimaginative (puff pastry roof atop chicken stew) as was the skillet fried chicken with a few burnt green beans and red potatoes that looked like they fell from the sky onto my plate. Crispy mac n cheese rolls were good. Flies abounded. Saving grace were the waitstaff who had no issue taking back the scallops and were happy to accommodate us.
This a nice warm cozy bar. Great to unwine after a long day of work I used to work down the street at foodstuffs and loved to wait for my train here looks to me like this place has alot of regulars and I like it!! Goes to show what great services they offer and I really loved my loaded nachos with chorizo food was amazing
No social distancing.. people walking up no mask getting sat next to me....manager had mask half off his face.....no gloves on any employees! If your a regular you dont need a mask??? Food is not even that good. Burger had NO flavor ( sawdust) quesadilla wasnt cut and seriously..its a quesadilla, gimme somethin! Bland bland BLAND! Sorry guys, it was a miss for me

2022-03-22This is a great place for a special meal out. We came here with friends we had not seen in a few years. We all wanted a slow, special night out. Found delivered! Very attentive and knowledgeable staff, a wonderful bar menu and outstanding food. We will be back.

2022-06-02Friendly service and tasty food. Theres seating inside or outside (on the sidewalk). Gluten free options are clearly marked. My husband and I split a pizza on GF crust (cauliflower crust), southwest salad and an order of baked wings and had leftovers for another meal.

2020-02-25I ordered the bbq combo, which includes these excluding the fries, is a good deal at the price. The problem was when you go to eat. The wings, as you can see, were dry as hell. The pulled pork had a gamey taste. The baked beans tasted like straight out of a can. The baked macaroni and cheese was okay, the topping made it dry and it had no flavor. The cornbread was dry and no corn flavor. The only good thing was the coleslaw. I just wish it could have tasted better for the price.

2018-08-05Ate here on a Saturday evening, and sat outside on the patio. Prompt service all evening from start to finish. Food came out quickly and was very good. I would recommend the fried mac and cheese rolls, definitely a new dish for us. Other than that the ribs were decent and the pizza excellent. But menu has plenty of variety. Hope to return soon.

2021-11-15So I went here for a catered event, meaning I didnt have to pay for anything or get to order off the menu. But when I ordered an oddly specific drink, the bartender neither balked nor teased. In face, he got a little exercise reaching for a not oft used bottle. And the food provided was delicious so probably the menu items are as well. Staff was friendly and the space was inviting. Would go back if I didnt live an hour away :)

2020-08-16Was passing through Chicago and found this place to eat and wished this place was local for me. I got their Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries and the Basement Party Lager. Great food and atmosphere

2021-11-07A lively vibe here on game days. Much more subdued on non-game days and evenings. Service is attentive and fast. Seating inside and outside (dress warmly in fall and winter). Substantial bar area with lots of NU fans and some opponents as well. Cheery space inside and the restaurant does not take reservations, but will take name&number. Good bar-style food in a great location along the Central Street commercial zone. Absolutely worth a visit.

2022-06-08Food is good. $7/$8 beers seems expensive for the dive bar feel
