Blick Art Materials in other cities:
Took my daughter here for the first time and it was great! She was very excited to see the great selection of art markers and papers. The staff was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. And they are still observing Covid precautions such as one way ailes, requiring property warn masks, etc. (They had some really cute artsy masks for sale too) Will definitely be coming back again.
Genuinely enjoy this place and checking out what supplies I need for my budding painting hobby. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful! Plus, the music takes me back to simpler times haha. Its a great place to stop by for inspiration (by looking at all the art supplies they have) & also for a nostalgic visit to 2007. Overall, I foam at the mouth with excitement when driving by... so I highly recommend the place!
Someone was nice enough to get me a $100 gift card to this store around the holidays. This store is nice as are the employees. I would ordinarily not shop here but I am glad I did as I found it different. I can hardly wait to do my next painting as today in itself has been inspirational!
The layout is different than the Blick in Wheaton, and to be honest, I think its a little bit larger. The staff is equally as friendly and helpful though. Only downside is that they dont carry the sketch pad that I like (Canson XL marker paper), so I do have to rely on Michaels for that. Still, an amazing store!
The best brick and mortar art store to get your supplies. Only place thats better is their online store. This place charges more than what you pay online, that is unless you have their savings card. I have no idea why or how this works. But thats what it is. Thats the only reason I give them 3 starts.I go there only if I need something immediately and cant wait for an item to be delivered.Feel free to approach staff with questions, they are very helpful. They often appear unapproachable but theyll gladly help you out if you ask. Theyll help you find what you need. Theyll even walk you to the supplies you are looking for. They have or will be soon changing their location.
Love this place. The people are super nice and very helpful and knowledgeable, they have everything from pens and pencils to paints and canvas, even little fun stuff like a mini bonsai tree. Highly recommend to artists, friends of artists, and people who like little presents. They also have classes and stuff too I think
This store is always worth the trip. If you decide to buy anything, become a preferred customer. This will save you 10%. They have a large supply of canvases, frames, fine art supplies and a fun assortment of small gifts, especially around Christmas time. They also have art demonstrations during the year. The staff is friendly and very helpful in answering questions. Everytime I go to Schaumburg, I stop there and never come away empty handed. It is always a pleasant surprise to see what is new. Shop at Blick. They are worth the trip.
A potentially good art store ended in disappointment. They overcharged me by almost double what I owed, they promised a student discount, and they also didnt give that either. If you go here, make sure you check what they are charging you before paying (especially during a sale). When I called they put me on hold immediately, and I waited for over half an hour (I am not exaggerating), then after they picked up they said they needed to get their manager... and put me on hold again. I live out of town far from any Blick stores, so it is not convenient to just go back. I was visiting family and thought Id give the store a try. I will now be telling friends and family not to go here. Dont waste your time here and just go to a Michaels or Hobby Lobby instead, it will probably be way cheaper at the other stores also.
Had a quick question on a gift card I had. I wanted a refund with a gift card cause I had my supplies for class already. I knew the answer to this question but wanted to ask anyways because why not try. The manager rudely answered there were no refunds. And I said that’s okay. I went over to look at some of the markers and I overheard the same manager saying I was stupid for asking that question. I kind of felt belittled and embarrassed. He did not make me feel welcomed or appreciated as a valued customer. I will definitely go find a different Blicks to shop at.
I am a preferred customer. Spend $100 avg per week. Often a lot more. usually, LOVE shopping here. Not today!!! Gads! What an unpleasant experience!!!Product/price on shelf mismatched and incorrect, $15 more than expected at register. No apology.Having poster board cut and required to pay BEFORE cuts made. I had other shopping to do, oh well, the stores loss, I will finish my shopping elsewhere.Paying and unable to use debit card as credit so that I have a named payee on my statement, purchases are for business, must use as debit.Very unhappy with today’s experience. Staff was unusually unfriendly and seemed putout and just plain disinterested in being there. None of the usual wonderful staff anywhere in sight, but a hiring sign on the window. A shame really. Hope you get it back together Blick.
Block has a great selection of everything. I mainly go there for the wide variety of spray paints. They have a ton of Montana Gold and I never have trouble finding a color I need. The customer service is great Im always helped within a minute of walking in. They recently moved to a new location on golf road for anybody that thought they closed up shop.
They actually had what I needed in store! I was looking all over for a China marker aka grease pencil and they actually had multiple colors. I had no idea they even made multiple colors!Anyway, the employees here actually seemed like they wanted to help me vs the employees at certain other craft stores. I will be going back in the future.
I spend a lot of time at this store. I price check items as well. You may find they have a lower prices on some things compared to the internet. It depends on what youre looking for. The store is always organized and the staff are very friendly and offer help as soon as you walk in the door. They are now located at 500 Golf Rd. In the Kohls Shopping center.
The staff here is really helpful and anticipates customers needs. I forgot the name of the young lady who helped me but she was in the evening shift. I needed only one big piece of tracing paper but what they had on the shelf was a pad. She then suggested a certain kind of film which works just as well and which I can buy by piece. Their products here are of good selection, perhaps the best in Schaumburg.
Whats not to love about an art store? So many colors and papers, markers, brushes, and pastels. Every aisle has something that catches the eye. Good variety of both high end and middle level materials as well as some starter items. Some clearance items as well. Its never too late to take up calligraphy and combine it with origami and encaustic.
As I progress as an artist, I increasingly find that this particular Blick just doesn’t carry the items needed by an actual, professional artist. The items that they choose to carry are more focused on student to lower/mid artist grade products. When the Art Institute was still in Schaumburg, this made sense. Their main customer base were the kids that went to that school. Now that they are no longer there, the area really needs an amazing fine art supply store. Blick should be it, but time and time again, I’m having to order basic supplies online because they don’t carry it in store, even though it’s on the website. Or, I’m told that I need to go downtown in order to get QoR paint, full sets of Polychromos pencils or even several kinds of paper or card stock. If it requires me going to downtown Chicago, I will absolutely order online from either Blick, Amazon or Jerry’s Artarama before I ever think about making the trek downtown for something. It’s becoming more and more difficult to purchase the art supplies I need locally, and I would much prefer to spend my money locally instead of online.
Ive seen quite a few reviews harping on the customer service, so I thought Id chime in and say that Ive been here many times over the years and never had a problem. In fact, Ive received the most help from the employees here. Dont know where this comes from. Its not the tip top greatest service, but no art store Ive seen has that unless its owner operated. Get over yourselves.
This is HEAVEN for me!!! Hobby Lobby and Michaels are my go-to stores due to proximity to my house. Although, this one is about 30 minutes away it is amazing! I can just stay here and dream about my next artwork. Amazing store dedicated to top notch art materials. Loooove their selection!
This store used to be great, and have a huge selection of watercolor products, but their stock as cut down substantially, which is a real shame... They used to carry old Holland, schminke, and Qor, but they only have a few very basic paints now... Daniel Smith, Sennelier, Windsor & Newton, and of course their own brand... My main reason for going to this place was for their large water color selection--both paints and accessories, and their stock is lacking quite a bit now. As for the rest, it just feels like the Move to a smaller store was a bit of a downgrade as well. Theres less of the cool and unique items that used to be there before - but, what do I know? They might not have been selling that great. Either way, I feel like the change of store was not a good change, and Im very sad about the loss of the original location.
Let the artist within vent...as I meander through the aisles Im amazingly spent! Shall I paint with oils, acrylic or sketch with ink, charcoal or lead? No matter, the creative genius stirs within my very soul and I am drawn by a heightened energy and imagination just like the masters I so aspire to...MICHELANGELO and his PIETA, my favorite of the renaissance! Its all there for the asking...! PAULA (a.k.a SPIRIT)
Good art supplies, but you might as well order online because the staff is less than helpful. Employees dont take customer care seriously. Unhelpful in answering my question, made me feel like a fool for not understanding their stores way of pricing things.I had misunderstandings about the sale on colour pencil sets and they did a poor job of explaining the difference between a list price, a store price and what the 50%off sale referred to. The man helping me just left me in the isle. I stood waiting and wondering if an employee would come back to help me, but after a while of standing there I felt like a fool, so I finally left the store. WILL NOT come back to Blick.BLICK: Please DO NOT advertise %off sales when it doesnt apply to the price shown in the store. At least explain HOW an item would be 50%off in your email advertisement. Your advertising strategies are horrible, i drove 30 minutes there only to have a bad experience. You just lost a customer.
Had a last minute costume idea and needed Jacquard Procion MX dye and found it at Blick! I couldnt make it there during work and convinced my husband to go pick it up. I knew he would have a hard time finding everything that I needed so I spoke with Don from Blick and he had all the products that I needed to purchase ready at the front counter for my husband :) Great customer service there! :)
Participated in an oil paint color mixing class in Blicks new(-to me) store. The instructor was knowledgable & personable. It was fun to be able to mess around with, agd get a feel for oils, which I probably wouldnt have bothered with had it not been for this introduction.
Everytime I go here.. old location or new.. its always false Info given over the phone and gas wasted. Looking for products I should just buy online. Location was clean and shelves stocked. Ill go back..bc I dont like to wait for delivery, not bc the store is great???
I TOOK A SUNDAY STROLL ON AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY...CASUALLY MEANDERING THE AISLES AND AS I WALKED TO THE REAR OF THE STORE...A SALE ON ASSEMBLED EASLES CAUGHT MY EYE! I HAD WANTED ONE FOR A LONG TIME AND LIT UP LIKE A CHILD IN A CANDY STORE...I BOUGHT A GREAT PORTABLE STURDY WOODEN ONE AND IT DOUBLES AS COUNTER BOOK HOLDER ON WHICH I KEEP MY BIBLE OPEN AND MARKED FOR THE SCRIPTURE READING OF THE DAY!!! IT ILLUMINATES THE TOP OF MY DRESSER WITH THE HOLY WORD!!! BLICK....YOUZ GUYS NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME! YOU ARE INCREDIBLE TO THIS COMMUNITY...AND TO US CREATIVE ART ENTHUSIASTS...KEEP UP THE GREAT SKILL/S THAT YOU AND YOUR STAFF EXUDE! AMEN! PAULA L BENDA (AKA SPIRIT)😌

2021-03-01I love this store, has a variety of products and high quality too. If you want to buy products from them - the store is awesome. Majority of the staff are nice, though some could work on their vibe and friendliness more. The reason I am giving 3 stars and not 5 is because I am very disappointed making my art prints there. First they got rid of their scanning station, you have to bring your own photos. I believe they do not offer test prints or color corrections so if your colors are off, you will be stuck with all those bad prints. It takes about a month for the prints to come out, when I went to get them mine were ready and my friend’s weren’t, even though they were placed at the same time. She still has not received a call and her prints should’ve been ready 5+ days ago. The quality of the prints is average, some of mine were not flat and some imperfections where they are cut.

2022-04-02If I’ve been in a hurry I’ve gone to Hobby lobby or Michaels, but when I really need supplies for an artist I always go to Blicks. They have an incredible selection and anything that I need is available there. I’ve been going to Blicks for many years.

2021-04-17Decent selection of alcohol markers and drafting pencils (the 2 things I stopped in for). Some great sales and web price matching without asking made for an even better experience. Friendly knowledgeable staff - will for sure be back.
