Binnys Beverage Depot - Evanston in other cities:
Ive interacted with various members of the staff at this location, on several occasions, and these interactions have always been positive, informative, and helpful. The staff here have personality, and they share it willingly with their customers, which is always refreshing and welcome. Im very thankful to have a store close by that has such great variety and selection, excellent prices, frequent sales, and consistently superior customer service. Thanks to all from both myself and my liver!
I like this place, big and quiet. Its nicely divided with the wines in the back and everything else up front. The overhead signs are helpful for finding the right aisle. Occasionally someone will ask if I need help and theyre easy to find if I need them, but mostly Im left alone - which I prefer. I couldnt find an item on this visit - probably out of stock. This Binneys is great.
I love how the staff is very attentive. I had a confused look on my face and one of the employees recognized that right away. She asked if i needed any help and when she didn’t know the answer to it, she asked another employee in which they got back right away to. Very good service! Will be back!
Their chilled/cold wine selection is absolutely horrible. They have a tiny cooler of cheap $9 white wines to pick from in an entire huge store of wine. Its weird because the space they took over was a Whole Foods with 3 aisles of refrigerators left to them. They got rid of their wine chiller thing too. If you want a real wine shop go up the street to Vinic for better selection and better everything.
Would like to see chilled Fireball; availability of Keystone Ice, a great budget alternative to Coors Light; more facings and chilled availability of Not Your Fathers Root Beer; and, better prices to a counter the inevitable ridiculously suffocating Cook Co taxes on alcohol.
Super convenient, ample parking, and the best beer selection Ive seen since moving to Illinois. Everyone Ive talked to there is friendly and knowledgeable, so it will more than likely end up being our new spot. Im very pleased to have them come to town.UPDATE: If you’re looking for a wine guy that can find you anything, ask for Max. I ask for him every time and am never disappointed
So I am not sure if it is because they opened relatively recently but they are AMAZING! They were able to stock a four pack of cider from the UK that they ordered at my request, so I do not have to go to the Skokie location. The employees are friendly too and so helpful.
Great prices and even greater variety. The staff is always nice and friendly and theres always something going on whether it be an engraving of your favorite brand or a giant tasting event for wine or beer. The staff is also quite knowledgeable in each department which helps the novice drinker or even the more experienced imbiber.
Im sure you know that Binnys is the place for booze, wine and beer in the Chicagoland area. The customer service at the Evanston location is unmatched. Sales people are super knowledgeable and I have to give a special shout out to Jenny Lovin, that girl knows her stuff and was extremely helpful today!
A neat, organized shop.Low prices.Friendly and knowledgable help.We recently attended a Champagne and caviar sampling class which was enlightening and enjoyable. This location is in the running- neck and neck- to be our favourite with the Binnys on Lincoln at Touhy in Lincolnwood, which is closer to our home.
I love Binnys, but I had one of my worst customer service experiences Ive ever had. You simply cant treat customers the way this store does, not just as customers but individuals. Im still a person and I deserve basic human dignity. And to have this happen infront of my family on my birthday, completely unacceptable.
The Wine Goddess (a half mile away) is our typical go-to shop for wine in Evanston, but sometimes Diane, the stores fantastic proprietor, doesnt carry what were looking for and we sell our souls to the box-store/ Binnys. But as often as possible we try to support local and LOVE the Wine Goddess!!
Very rude and intimidating manager in Evanston location. I was a frequent customer since they opened here and spent hundreds and hundreds of $$. Today I had a basic question about wearing a mask and both store manager and security quard were yelling at me for 5 min - both at the same time. Totally inappropriate and disturbing.
I was looking for a full case of a Pinot Grigio. They had some problems determining how many they had in stock and accidentally charged me for one bottle that I did not receive. I called them and they corrected the mistake graciously.I usually go to the Binnys in Skokie but wanted to check this one out. It had plenty of parking but did not quite have as many of my favorite brands of tequila as the Skokie store. There were lots of beer brands on special.
The Evanston Binny’s is one of the best liquor stores I have ever been in. It has everything you may need for any party or gathering you are hosting. Want to be mixologist will love the array of bitters and tinctures on hand as well as many spirits that are usually hard to find
I wish I could give less than 1 star for the awful service the sad woman at the checkout displayed. Despite showing her my ID, she refused to sell me beer. Could’ve been discrimination but I’ll never know because I, nor any of my friends, will ever be going back there again.

2022-03-08They got me Schlitz! And yeah yeah I understand that the quality of this beer has somewhat declined over the last 25 years. Point is, the beer was for a friend who did not have access to it on the other side of the country, but this place managed to get me some in less than a week and it made my friend very happy to see that I had brought it for her. So I appreciate their help and will continue to use them for unusual alcohol acquisitions.

2022-06-27We moved from the South Loop to the North Shore last year and I have to say that the Evanston location is a little disappointing as compared to the South Loop location we used to frequent. They always seem to be out of stock or unable to get things that I am looking for and its hard to understand because it seems like Evanston is fairly sophisticated. In any case, we generally wind up getting what we need elsewhere, especially wines that are generally available at local restaurants and other stores. But if you just want basic things, they always seem to have Stoli, basic beer, etc

2022-05-18I cant say enough good things about this location and about Chad and Tiela.I bought a bottle of Redbreast 12 year and when I went to the parking lot the bottle slipped out of a faulty box and shattered in the parking lot. Dejected, I went inside expecting to buy another expensive bottle.Chad offered me another compd bottle without me even asking. The whole team was friendly and helpful even before this outcome. Thanks to them all.

2019-12-05Newer Binny’s location. We went to the Thanksgiving Wine Tasting event. These events are always a great time. Highly recommend attend a future tasting event. There were at least 10 vendors at different tables, each with 4 or 5 options to try. We bought tickets but then they gave us a store credit for that same amount. Found some really fun new things. They even had a Temperance beer that came out a while ago that I was looking for. Staff is knowledgeable and kind.

2019-11-04The Binnys in the Clybourne Traingle is amazing. Their choice of events is amazing and a real venue. If you want to have a regular bar experience the room is great in size and offering and prices. Aside from that its a fully stocked retail store

2022-01-20Not the biggest Binnys, but they carry pretty much all the stuff you need as far as booze is concerned. The nice thing is they also have a good selection of non-alcoholic stuff too!

2019-07-01Huge selection of beer, wine, vodka, whiskey and etc. I can compare this store only with Total Wine. There prices on some kind of tequila 50% is cheaper than in some other stores. What pleasantly surprised me that they placed plastic covers over bottles that you purchased to protect them from breaking. Small but a very nice touch!

2021-09-13Why is it that the most knowledgeable sales person is also stacking the shelves? Anyway, this is a Epic liquor store with everything you need and more of it than you could ever keep in your bar. Go there and ask for recommendations, because they never steer you wrong.
