A quiet, relaxing breakfast spot. The food is inexpensive and delicious. Im a bagel lover, and my breakfast sandwich did not dissappoint. Waffles are easily customizable and have a great texture, slightly chewy but still soft. I wasnt hungry enough to try one, but the chocolate brownies in a countertop display looked decadent.
An engineers review for 2 visits:Excellent smoothies - not too viscous, not too watery. Recommend the strawberry banana.Bagels - Unusual steam cooking method. Provides crunch without many crumbs. Toppings vary wildly. Recommend the rocking robin.Atmosphere - Lots of laminated wood, plants for air filtration, a paneled wood counter area reminiscent of old time soda shops, and an overall coffee shop study area vibe.Bonus: Outdoor seating among planters available.
This place was interesting, but surprisingly really good! It’s tiny and really meant for going with a friend or a significant other, kind of a hipster coffee shop with more food. I️ wasn’t sure if we got waited on or we went up and ordered, but we went up and ordered and paid and sat down. Our coffee came out right away in cute mugs, and our food shortly after. It was very tasty! I️ had the #1 Waffel, which had bananas, whipped cream and speculoos on it which was delicious. Tried a piece of the pumpkin pecan bread which was very flavorful and moist! Would definitely go back again, just didn’t know what to expect at first!
Nice owners with a comfortable atmosphere. The chocolate muffin I got was soft and wasnt overly sweet which I liked. I also got an iced mocha made with almond milk. The espresso tastes burnt causing the whole drink to lack good flavor and depth. I would love them to step up their espresso game because the corner store really would be a nice place to relax!
Its been some time since Ive been in here, but I have been meaning to write a review for a while. Their bagel sandwiches are great, as another reviewer recently mentioned. I also really enjoy their Belgian waffle (if that is still on their menu). Nice casual place for lunch, breakfast, or coffee. Will definitely try to get back here next time Im in Evanston.
The reviewer below states correctly that this location has been through a string of recent owners, the last one of whom lasted less than a year. The cafe is now run by new owners who are doing a great job making it comfortable and welcoming. The coffee is as good as any of the local cafes. On a corner where the neighborhood has always needed a good coffeehouse, this cafe fills that void. Friendly local place. If youre in the neighborhood, stop in.
This little place on a quiet corner across from the Post Office is one of the places I miss most from when I lived in Evanston. The owners are super nice and always recognized us and asked how we were doing. The bagel sandwiches are INCREDIBLE—steaming them keeps the bagel moist while ensuring that everything is perfectly heated and melty. I miss the Tasha’s Secret!
My favorite local spot. Amazing waffles, excellent sandwiches and a wide selection, good coffee, reasonable prices. Service is always excellent and staff are very friendly. Such a great vibe in there. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or sitting down to study or read. So chill. Seriously love this place. would give 6 stars if I could.
Great little Cafe! The bagels are amazing and so are the waffles! I recommend both very highly. The smoothie was unfortunately not very good. Got the classic (strawberry and banana) and it tasted a lot like medicine (banana flavoured medicine). It seems the smoothie is made with real strawberries but maybe artificial banana flavouring? I will definetly come back here again though since service and all other food were great! But please improve your smoothie!
More of a coffee shop than a restaurant. They do have a limited selection of breakfast sandwiches, which were very good. Their coffees and teas were also excellent. The only reason I have them 4 stars is because the shop was very cold. To their defense it was below zero that morning, but it was still uncomfortable.
If the very thought of going to a crowded Starbucks gives you anxiety. Then fear no more.. berry pike is here!I’ve lived in Evanston all my life but generally avoid the downtown area because of my anxiety. Recently I’ve been exploring the city and trying new restaurants. Berry pike is one of my favorites. It has a nice open and welcoming aura to it. The guy who makes the food is very sweet as well as the older woman there. I rather support small family owned business then the likes of Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts whose overpriced food leaves much to be desired.I’ve only tried the sunrise sandwich and the smoothie and I’m hooked. It’s super yummy. Made with fresh ingredients. The food has a homemade feel but more of a homemade from your dad who really knows how to make a sandwich. They don’t skip on toppings and use quality ingredients. The smoothie was okay, tasted like something I could make at home but it was still delicious. This cafe also has plenty of seating and WiFi. Perfect for a quick bite but not good for a big crowd. Overall I’m very pleased and hope everyone gives them a shot!Ps. Just look at the sunrise sandwich. That is beautiful. A work of art.
Absolutely amazing how unique this gem is. The menu is shaped around key ingredients with simple and impactful changes that each give them a unique flavor, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxing with music and furniture to back it. All while delivering good coffee. This place has a little bit for everyone.
I go to Delbes quite often, and not just because its down the block from my apartment. The service staff are especially friendly and make you feel right at home. Delbes has a personal, welcoming environment. They offer an amazing selection of bagel sandwiches. These sandwiches are far superior to any bagel sandwiches you can get at a chain. I especially love the bialy sandwiches! Ive gotten drinks and waffles before, but was not especially impressed. Come here for the sandwiches and you wont be disappointed.
This is a great place to have a nice chip of coffee and some hearty breakfast, their bagels are delicious full of flavor and definitely a must have. I only wish the cups were all glass (I got a plastic one and dont like to drink for stuff from plastic) but definitely not a deal breaker 😃
Berry Pike is one of my favorite cafe spots around! Coffee, waffles, breakfast sandwhiches, lunch sandwiches, and smoothies.I come back time and time again from Chicago to Evanston for these waffles, they are liege waffles that use a special sugar, and they are the best waffles Ive had (and waffles are my favorite)!
Big sandwiches in a little package! This location has been a revolving door of cafe business over the last few years. The same model moves into the space but only manages to stay for a year or so. Ive been waiting for the other shoe to drop on Delbes Corner but its still around. Im sure a lot of that has to do with those bagel sandwiches, which dont see like much but they are huge. Recently had the Quentin which is roast beef and pastrami. The cafe itself is nice and very much like its predecessors (same counter and table arrangement). Decent coffee joint too. Hope this place sticks around longer than the others; I like having a cafe across from the Post Office.
If I liked coffee or was looking for a proper lunch sandwich, I could have liked this place much more.I was trying to explore spots for doing some computer work. This review is limited to that scope.$9 for a tea and pastry, which was very good. I had the powdered sugar waffle. There was a mistake though - they gave me iced coffee instead of iced tea. The tea selection is nice. The brand seems quality. But bagged tea is a bit of a disappointment - loose tea is better for the tea snobs out there. On the technical details lost a star for me. Their wifi didnt connect for a while - turns out it works fine on my laptop, but an Android phone cannot to the login screen. Their outlet literally made my plug fall out of the socket, but I didnt check more than the one I started on. So I used my own internet and stuck to battery power. And they close at 3pm, which is fine for food and coffee, but Evanston has other great wifi spots open later. When I left as they closed, they had a few people showing up close to closing time. A great problem to have, but maybe they could have enough business to compete with other spots like Unicorn, Kaffeine, or Panera? Only the management can do that kind of cost-benefit analysis thugh. No points deducted for that.
We visited at around 10:30 am on a Saturday. We ordered a steamed bagel sandwich and the Wafel #2 (Strawberry, whipped cream, and Nutella). The bagel came out within five minutes and was quite tasty. The waffle took a long while; perhaps 15-20 minutes. Keep this in mind when youre ordering.Im happy to say that it was well worth the wait. The waffle was tasty and the ingredients were fresh. The pearl sugar wasnt as crunchy as Id like in my ideal Liége waffle, but it was still a sweet and tasty treat. Also keep in mind that seating is quite limited. By the time we finished at around 11:30, people were eyeing our tables. Its best to visit off-peak if you want to have a leisurely meal.
The waffles (they spell it waffel)! Oh my goodness the #1 Waffel! I go there every time saying Im going to try something else. I made it all the way to a bagel sandwich--which is also delicious--but I CANNOT get past the waffel to give a more comprehensive review. Oh, did I mention the #1 Waffel?!!!I would honestly prefer my review be ignored so I can continue to enjoy this little nugget. Ownership is so pleasant, though, I find myself rooting for their success. Damn! Now Im thinking about this Waffel; on my way.

2022-07-08Here has my fav latte. Two more clients come in and ordered latte this morning so I guess it’s really great. I was here two years ago and I feel things changed much, from the furniture arrangement to the way they present food(used to be glass, now disposable cups). Taste didn’t change much

2022-04-02I visit Berry Pike almost every weekend… it’s probably my favorite establishment in all of Evanston. From their Rhonda on the Fly bagel, smoothies, chai latte, and of course their waffels, I’ve never ordered something and disliked it. Everything here is made with care and it’s a very personable business. I’ve only ever been treated with kindness and respect. I recommend Berry Pike to everyone I know, I love it that much. If you find yourself in the area you should check them out!!

2021-12-101st time visiting. I felt a little rushed out as I order online for pick up. I would say that if you’re charging a dollar for additives like bananas, at least make sure they’re fresh. The bananas i was given looked and tasted close to spoiling

2022-05-10Hats off to extraordinary customer service. Their Rhonda-on-the-fly is my #1 recipe. I love their waffles as well. The manager out there is extremely warm and welcoming. Especially their Cappuccino was even better than ever. I strongly recommend this spot to anybody out in Evanston to give it a try.

2022-05-05Omg, worst restaurant ever. I cant believe they will be in business another week. Clearly if you change anything about the menu they get confused. I ordered a sandwich from their menu minus several item and repeated the order several times. I had to ask for it to go because it was taking do long. When i opened the sandwich it was dripping with everything i asked not to have. I threw away the whole sandwich. All their pastries are from Sam’s Club. Horrible if i could give a minus star I would.

2022-07-04These guys are great to deal with but could bump up their expedience just a touch for another star. Maybe they don’t live and die by the star system. I get that.
