Called ahead to see if they could replace a headlight bulb on my 2004 Volvo while I waited.. answer was yes provided nothing else was involved. Ended up being a melted wiring connector and the head light. They let me know it would take up to 1.5 hours. I’m happy to have found a local shop who will work on my older foreign vehicle!
Bartel’s was very professional and quick! They texted updates throughout the day as to their diagnostics, the estimated price, and timeline. They fixed multiple issues in my vehicle and had it ready for pickup within 24 hours. Highly recommend!
This is the best service Ive ever had at a mechanic. The kind staff helped to put my anxieties at ease pretty quickly when I first called, and every time I was updated on my repairs or had things to discuss with them, everything was clear and direct in a way that other mechanics havent been. Im grateful for Bartels.

I always take my car to these guys every summer to make sure that its in working condition for summer travels never had any issues theyre always very easy to work with and are very upfront about what I should do and what I can wait on, which is refreshing nowadays...I use them for all my regular maintenance as well.Highly recommend the crew over at Bartells in Carol Stream.
I called ahead to make an appointment for a simple oil change. It took over an hour. Better off paying more money going to jiffy lube if you dont have much time.

Carmax set up repair appointment for me and everything was seamless. They kept me informed of what was going on with repairs. Called me to let me know that it was ready ahead of schedule so A+ in my book. Would definitely go back for service again.

I took my car to bartel’s auto clinic on 06/03/2022 my name is Randy Mcmath I have a 2016 Dodge Charger AWD I had a cooling leak so they got me in & out very nice people the service advisor David ivanovski was very nice he keep me updated on my car every 15 to 20 min I had got a radiator assembly and a cooling system fluid flush came out to a reasonable price now I need disc brake pad & rotors front and back + a brake fluid exchange plus my oil change is almost due I never been here before but they did a amazing job on my car so I will be coming back for the 3 thing that I still need done I recommend that if you have car issues bartel’s auto is the place to go get your car fixed I give this place 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks for doing a good job on my car bartel’s auto
Ladies, if you go to this place alone, be aware. They may try to tell you all these things that are wrong which aren’t that bad. Oh and their mark up is ridiculously high. Don’t be fooled by their polite demeanor. I sat and waited for over 3 hours for a new battery and a door lock replacement. Don’t know if I’ll be back….

Brought my wife’s 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for a strange rattle coming from under the car. After a test drive and subsequent diagnostics performed by many team members…Adam came out and set a walnut down on the table. A squirrel had gotten into the undercarriage and began hiding nuts. They checked every inch of that Jeep before finding the culprit. There was absolutely nothing else wrong with the car. All that noise coming from a single walnut. I’m not sure another shop would’ve spent that much time to find the culprit when everything appeared fine on the surface. These guys are top notch, friendly and professional. Subsequently brought my own Jeep in 2 days later for a synthetic oil change. We’ve found our new local shop!
My vehicle is well known at Bartel’s!! They have kept her running smoothly and we never miss her regular visits. Of course everyone there is professional but they’re also all around genuinely kind and friendly and helpful!! Trevor is outstanding!! Jeremy is always great! Never a hassle to get in on short notice. I have even received a couple of rides to work from Amy Bartel!! Fabulous all the way around 😊.

This was my first visit to Bartels as Ive passed by it many times. I stopped in in order to discuss an emissions issue as I had been to several other facilities, but didnt feel comfortable with their approach. I spoke with Michael and instantly he made me feel that one, he was knowledgeable and two that he was geniunely concerned with my concerns and a desire to putting my mind at ease as to what could be the problem. On the day of my diagnostic service Trevor kept in constant contact with me to verify what we thought the issue was. I appreciate the he carefully assessed the situation and gave me an inexpensive remedy in the interim before having to make a major repair decision. His recommendation so far has been way better and lasted longer than what I got from the dealer. Ive been looking for a repair facility apart from the national brands and dealer than I can feel that they care and are not just interested in selling me services just because but looking for long term customers. I get that feeling with Bartels and I intend to become a regular customer with both of my cars and highly recommend them to anyone searching. That fact also that they are an approved AAA facility is a plus. I also searched a couple independent sites for repair services and Bartels showed up on both.
I have used Bartel’s for many years for my vehicle maintenance. They do excellent work and go above for client care.
My daughter got her oil changed at Bartels and then her battery went dead. I checked battery connections and positive connection was very loose. I tightened the connection and jumped the battery and no problems now. Seemed very suspicious.

I was extremely impressed with this auto clinic. They showed me under my car and gave me a thorough explanation pointing things out with a flashlight and taking pictures. I appreciated all their answers to my questions. I was in a time crunch and they also were able to get my service done on my lunch break! I have already recommended this place to my coworkers. I’ll be back soon for some underbody repair.

I called last minute on Saturday morning to try and get in for an oil change and two tires. to my surprise they had an appointment an hour from my call. I went in and waited. they completed the repairs in the time estimate given and cost that was quoted. my truck came back same condition, no grease or oil marks. everything was done professionally. i will be back for sure with my sons, daughters and moms car for sure.Highly recommend!
Every single person who I have interacted with here has been great, from the people at the front desk to the techs. I have a few family cars that I bring here and I trust the work they do and trust what they tell me about what needs to be done. The facilities are top notch and I have taken advantage of their courtesy ride home a few times as I am local.
I have been to Bartels numerous times now for various issues with my car. Each time I go, the service has been excellent, the price is fair, and there is no bait and switch with cost once completed. I am looking for an auto repair store that I can put my trust in so that when they tell me something is wrong I believe them. I think I have found it in Bartels
I had a fantastic experience at Bartels! My axel broke across the street from there auto shop! When I crossed the street and entered there business I was greeted warmly and asked what they could help me with. I pointed to my car which was stalled out, 3 Bartel technicians came to my rescue! They quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, offered me a loaner car and sent me on my way. 3 hours later my car was fixed and I picked it up on my way home from work that same day. I was amazed.at the ease in which this occurred. Bartels turned a bad experience into a great one!!! I told everyone I worked with including my own customers at Nordstrom about there amazing customer service!!!! I wii definitely continue to be a loyal customer!!! Very disappointed with the quality of work done on my car. Ive had two major issues wrong with my car and took it to Bartels because of the reviews and from a recommendation and both times Ive had to return because either the part they worked on was disconnected or loose which caused leaks/ noises from my car within hours of picking it up.
Thought I needed brake pads, turned out to be something different. Best part was the no charge for the inspection. Very honest and transparent, I liked getting pics and updates via text. Staff was very professional and friendly. Highly recommend!

I finally found a place that knows how to properly fix my car problems. Power steering pump was a sore repeat breaker until hopefully now the steering seems to be not binding anywhere and pump is now guaranteed for 36 months which is unheard of anywhere else. I will recommend Bartel’s as a great car repair facility.

They were great with their service. I took my car in for the vibration issue when I drive. When the issue was originally overlooked, they drove to our house to pick bring my car back to the shop to fix it an hour later. We also got a great discount. The car runs perfectly and I am very happy with the service. We will be back!

Bartel’s gave me a reasonable quote for flushing out my car’s hybrid system. It was much lower than the dealership and they were more friendly too! It was completed before the estimated time and I’m super happy with their work!
First time going to Bartel’s, It was a good experience. The workers are very honest & straight forward, their willing to fix anything & everything when it comes to your car. Also they check other things on your car & let you know what you may have to fix. Which is important. Others only fix what you ask them to, to know if other things are wrong with my car Is very helpful. They were quick & very professional. Traveling in the area and just saw the sign. Repair tool light came on and then oil. New I best get service asap. Called first thing in the morning. Extremely friendly and I could get in at 11am. Neat and clean waiting area with water and coffee. Oil and filter changed. Car was brought to the waiting room door with the drivers side door easy to access. So thought ful as it was sprinkling. I was a stranger and treated as if I was a regular customer.
Service was fast, friendly, and professional! Jeremy showed me what needed to be done, and also some things that should be addressed, but could wait as they were not a safety issue. I would recommend and I will go back here for future repairs.
Experience here highlights how some auto repair shops try to prey on people, who they think, dont know how cars work.I had custom work done by a friend, I know everything about my car. All I wanted was an oil change.I was pulled into their shop where their manager listed numerous problems and quoted me over $1,000 for a problem.This guy spent 15 trying to convince me to get a new filter when I wanted one anyway, and listing off all these non-existent problems. Everything he told me was nonsense.As far as service, they overfilled my ac oil (coolant, refrigerant, whatever you want to call it), which would have led to serious long term problems. I caught it immediately after leaving and brought my car somewhere else.
I got new tires from Bartel’s and they did an excellent job. I also asked them to do an oil change and repair a tail light on the fly and they were more than happy to accommodate me. My car was done much faster than anticipated and the crew was extremely nice. The waiting area with flat screen TV and free bottles of water was very comfortable.
Bartel’s did a fantastic job installing brakes and rotors on my car. Two months later I brought the car in for new shocks and struts. They gave me a loaner car for over twenty four hours. I greatly appreciate Bartels service.
They performed a 40 point vehicle inspection. Their assessment was fair and honest. Pictures of deficiencies were taken to help explain any deficiencies and recommendations. The inspection was performed very expeditiously. I’m definitely bringing my car back for any required maintenance and repairs.
I checked this place out to get my car fixed because I read somewhere that they were a place that specialized in Buicks. They had my car fixed pretty fast, within a week it wouldve been within a day or 2 if I didnt have a problem with my check. They were all nice people and told me everything that was going on with my car in depth so I understood what needed to be fixed and why, they did a good job they actually fixed something I had wrong with my car since I bought it that I didnt even know was an issue because of it or didnt even think it could ever be fixed, just got used to it after awhile. Theyre good people Id recommend you to go here if you want good quality work done, they definatly all knew what they were doing and it was done for a decent price. They did a great job. I had an issue with my BMW X5. All of the warning lights came on at the same time! Jeremy and his crew located the problem, even though they had to keep my vehicle overnight. Found out some rodent chewed through a one foot section of the wiring harness causing all of those issues (I’m watching you squirrels!). Fortunately it did not cost and arm and a leg, just the diagnostic and work to repair. I am very grateful to have such a close, honest and competent mechanic.

Today was my first time visiting Bartels Auto Clinic. On Saturday, I swear my car started making a funny noise. I called them and described the problem. I was able to make an appointment right away, and drove my car over there. Naturally, it stopped making the sound! The mechanics listened to my tale about the phantom noise and were super nice. They did not look at me like I was insane (admittedly, I would have looked at me like I was insane). They offered to take a look and even offered me a ride home so I didnt have to spend all day at the shop. They were extremely honest that they could find nothing wrong with my car, and could not recreate the noise even with an extensive test drive. The only thing they found was that my front brakes needed to be replaced - AND they sent pictures showing me the condition of the brakes. I had just had a significant amount of work done on the vehicle at another mechanic a month ago and the other shop did not mention the state of my front brakes but replaced my back ones?? Bartels didnt even charge me some ridiculous fee for trying to locate my phantom noise (which I was sure they would - heck, I probably would have charged me a fee for trying to find a noise that may or may not have existed). With their excellent customer care and honesty, I wont be going anywhere else!
I’ve been going to Bartel’s for more than 15 years now and they’ve serviced many of my vehicles. They are always very thorough and professional, they service my vehicle quickly and I’ve never had a problem with their work. I always recommend them to everyone I know and will continue to do so in the future.

Can’t say enough about how positive the whole experience was for my recent brake flush service! The staff was very helpful & knowledgeable! Never felt pressured into anything that I didn’t want! The brake flush service was priced approximately 40% less than what my Honda dealer quoted! Thanks! I will be returning for other service. I should also mention that I didn’t have an appointment but I was still in & out in about an hour and a half.

I was delighted with how quickly dual issues with a defective starter and failing air conditioning compressor were diagnosed, addressed and completed. I left my car midafternoon one day and it was ready the next morning by 10:00am. I felt the price was quite fair given the scope of the work, the staff friendly and helpful and, of course, the courtesy car rides an unexpected bonus . Kudos to Bartels!
I brought our company truck in for the annual checkup along with the due spark plug change along with all fluids changed and as usual they were fantastic. Being that this Dodge Ram 2500 is used for so much in our business from pulling a trailer, to general shuttling between facilities, to running to the hardware stores and for last, but not least at all, winter plowing, I depend on a thorough inspection and recommendations for any potential repairs needed. As it turns out everything was good on the truck with the exception of the rear brakes which were extremely corroded no doubt from the winter plowing. They performed the necessary repairs and the truck is once again in tip-top shape.Ive been using Bartels for years now for both business and private use and have never been disappointed.
I have had the Best Experience bringing our Chevy Tahoe in for service. I had a situation last week with our 1932 Buick Model 57 S. A friend who owns a 1930 Buick, also a Member Of The Chicagoland Buick Club had done some work on the car recently. When I brought it home there was a terrible gas smell in our garage. He came to our home to check it out for me. He found a gas line was leaking. He said it needs to go up on a lift to do the repairs. I called and asked if the car could be placed on one of your lifts. I was informed that it could except no one else would be able to work on it. I drove the car over and the rest is a very HAPPY ENDING. The car is fixed, I’m a very HAPPY Customer and I will be bringing the Tahoe back in the next few days for some additional work.These people at Bartel’s are the BEST!!We are Almost like Family at Bartel’s. When I call it’s never just to say hello. Although they usually recognize my voice and proceed to ask what’s wrong?This time it was our 2007 Hyundai Azera. This is my Wife’s car that she uses mainly to drive to the train, go to the Grocery Store and go Workout. The car physically is in pretty good condition. We have a Service Contract that covers just about anything that could mechanically go wrong. The issue was 2 notifications on the dash that had to be repaired. When I dropped it off I needed a ride home which is never an issue. A few hours later Trevor called with the diagnosis. He said it was an Electrical Issue that was covered with our Service Contract. While they were working under the hood they found the Air Conditioning Compressor was leaking. Thank Goodness they found it before we brought it home. They’re Very Good about finding issues before they become too serious. That also was covered under our Service Contract.We Again are very Happy with the Service we received at Bartel’s. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing Good Quality Service at affordable prices.
Jim the service manager was very friendly and professional. I used the free shuttle service; it came in very handy and I appreciated that! The waiting room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The mechanic discovered a damaged gasket which he replaced for no extra charge. Very pleased and satisfied!
These guys are fantastic! Have been taking my car somewhere else for years where I have recently been having some issue. Called Bartel’s and was looking to get a 2nd opinion. They got me in right away on a Friday afternoon, fixed my car same day, drive me home while I waited, and saved me money. They even took me into the back to show me the issues with my car and show me what the previous company was trying to upsell me on that wasn’t needed, I will be returning here for all future needs. Tool it in a over a year ago for service contract work. They fixed half of them, the rest parts were on order. I kept calling, vovid was all I heard. Almost forgot about it. Called like 5 months later to see what was up and another issue happened that was related to a previousRepair. Water pump replacement, now I either get a low fluid or just the radiator picThey said they tested it no leak, never got those lights before, now theyre back. Was back on these last 2 days in am.

Incredibly great place to go for general and more complicated car repairs/maintenance. The team at Bartel’s are problem solvers and are incredibly thoughtful when describing issues and solutions. I have a few fairly complicated cars that you would think should be serviced at a dealership but Bartel’s is a far better, more cost effective and expert choice:

I had a very enjoyable experience with bartels auto. After a extremely disappointed event with my private insureance about geting my truck towed and waiting 18hrs. Bartels was their in a hour or so, I kinda figured out what was wrong before they evaluated the problem, I guessed right. The repair was fast..Next day. They also came picked me up to finish the transaction. I will be back again.
After being dissapointed for the third time by my previous mechanic, I was recommended Bartels by a friend of mine. I had a very pleasent experience with Chris as I described what I was hearing and said he would be in touch. About an hour or so later, he texts me with a video showing what was wrong which I really appreciated. We followed up with a phone call and we went over what needed to be done. I had my car back within a few hours and can definently say Ill be back for any maintenance and services I need in the future. I always love supporting family owned businesses and its a plus when they make their customers feel like family!

Ive used them a few times in the last few years. Service seems good however the pricing is pretty steep. Latest example. A couple years back I had headlights and a pair of other front bulbs replaced as it is difficult to get to get to the headlights, you cant just pop the hood and get to the bulbs. Cost was over $150, was told its labor intensive so that adds to the cost...I was in a pinch so I went for it. Had the same bulbs replaced recently at an oil change place nearby that also does light maint. Cost $64. Had breaks done there once and the cost was comp. to dealer cost. Like I said, service was good but very pricey.
I would ALWAYS trust my vehicle (Chevy Equinox LTZ) with Bartels. Im so happy my truck drives and sounds like NEW! If i could give 10 stars, I would. They fixed my brakes and found the root cause of a humming sound that was coming from a cracked pipe in my exhaust. They were very affordable and I appreciate that they do non-profit work for the community. I feel this shop is worth EVERY PENNY!

Bartel’s Auto Clinic analyzed the issue with my BMW X5 and provided an estimate for repairs.The estimate was quick and free! Personnel was very polite and helpful.The estimate was very similar to the estimate provided by my dealership service, so it was fair. With that info, rather than repairing the car, I traded it in.
My family have been going to Bartels since the 70s and theyve always been good to us. As this was the first time Ive needed their services they took me around to see the shop and showed me what issues they found with my car. They were very professional, friendly, and emphasized transparency. I would aboslutely reccomend their services.

I’m a first time customer but my family has been taking their cars here for years. I was originally told I needed a new motor. I took to shop and found out only needed ignition coils and spark plugs. I’m glad I got to work with honest people who didn’t take advantage of me. I had a lot of work done for a decent price. I would recommend them.
Just went to get a front wheel bearing assembly replaced. Very nice people to deal with and is 5 minutes from my house which is a big plus. They sent me a video on my phone of the issue so I could see it. I loved that. My only complaint was price. Seemed a little high for a wheel bearing swap out. Seemed a bit high on the price of the part especially. But other than that, a great place and great people. Will go to again if its something I dont have the time or know ho to handle.

Good place to bring your vehicle they are not a rip-off like Firestone. Every time I have taken a vehicle there I’ve never had any problems. Great staff that knows what they are doing. While my car was there I was dealing with Chris, He was very helpful and honest.
I’ve been a customer of Bartel’s since I started driving. I used to frequent the store in Oswego and now I live close to the one in Carol Stream. They are always professional, courteous, and explain in detail what the issues are.
Great job! Stubborn “check engine” light issue three trips (They had it a total of 5 days) to the Honda dealer couldn’t fix. After Honda quoted an outrageous price for more exploratory work, I tried Bartel’s. It took them only minutes to offer a completely different strategy, and they fixed the problem at only 25% of Honda’s quote. I’ve got a new mechanic.

Had to have a tire pressure sensor monitor replaced. Also they found a leak in our power steering pump, and over of the bolts holding a lug nut on was striped. They fixed everything and did a good job.

I walked in to the Carol Stream shop for the first time for an oil change the other day and was greeted like a long time customer. Dan the mechanic was very professional and made quick work of the oil change. I will definitely be going back to Dan at the Carol Stream location for all my cars needs.
These guys are loosing my business!!! I take my two cars for all oil change, repairs as needed, and even referred my brother in law to them. When I called them for estimate on tires and alignment, they agreed to match other competitors price and service. However when I show up next day on my appointment time, guess what? they dont have the tires and they did not honor their word! and wasted my morning on weekend!!!! This is very disappointing and a bad sales tactic to bring in people then try to sell them what you want not what they want! Especially when already checked with you beforehand. The worst is that the person didnt care to offer any accomodation to offset their failure to honor same deal with same quality tires and service. He tried to sell me cheaper tires to keep the price down!!! What a joke? Sorry you lost my business and also my support.

My husband decided to go into this shop because they seamed to be an honest place and had good reviews. We took our car here about a year ago, we had the starter replaced because they said this was the problem $480 some dollars. The car was still Acting up the same, my husband took a look and the starter had not been replaced. He called they asked to bring the car back and since we had brought this to their attention we thought this problem would be fixed. Finally this problem has been persistent we get the starter replaced again this time by another company. Turns out that it is the original starter and it has actually never been replaced at all.Obviously no one would be happy with this situation especially when your a parent and need a riliable car.

Been coming here for a few years now, have had a great experience until yesterday. Brought my truck in to get a wheel hub replaced. Was told that was causing my vibration on the highway. Bought the part and had them replace, still vibration. So I wasted $360 on what they told me the issue was. Definitely did not get my moneys worth. Then they quoted me $500 on 1 coil pack and plug wire. Seems very high. Next was a quote for $495 to replace an evap canister which I had them replace once already. Told them their tech Mark said it might be a wire short or PCM issue. Chris on the phone did not believe me and said they would have to replace to canister. I said no, I will get the part again myself. Not sure if they are trying to scam or what, but never had an issue before. Not sure if I will come back. Its a shame because the staff is very friendly and I thought they did honest work.
Bartels is a great place to have all work done! My truck has been in a few times and theyve exceeded my expectations. Being a diesel, not too many people will go near and I was taken care of professionally and kindly. Theyre my go-to for all my needs!

I choose bartels because they feel like a family mechanic. They are always nice and are willing to bring you back and show you they problem. The prices are competitive and the oil changes are fast and easy. If they find a problem and need to work on your car for a couple hours, and you dont feel like waiting there, they have a car to taxi you to and from home for free.
Been going but won’t again. Went in for an oil change - they did the oil change, said everything was fine and I left. 3 weeks later I’m down almost 2 quarts of oil - no leak. Wondering if they even added enough and changed the filter as well. Almost empty on washer fluid and I didn’t even use it much, if any. Both filters (cabin, etc.) were so dirty you couldn’t even shine a flashlight through it. What you want is to trust the place that changes your oil, AND does all the checkpoints. Now I have my doubts and therefore wouldn’t use them again....no way did they check those filters and that’s one of the most common things they try to get your $ on!
I normally take my car to the dealership to have repairs done but on a few occasions when the dealer estimate seemed extremely high I went to Bartels and was extremely pleased with the cost and work done. They were very personable and the work was performed quickly. On one occasion I needed air put into a wheel for a wheelbarrow. After trying 2 other places I went to Bartels and they were able to care for it ...and.. they didnt even charge me. I would definitely recommend them.

I would of gave them no stars, this place is very dishonest. They will take advantage of you if you dont know much about cars and lie to your face. I took my first car here for repair on the steering wheel, a couple of weeks after the repair I start hearing things and the steering wheel shakes. My other car started making a noise so I took it there to see what they had to say. They told me that it was my transmission and I needed to replace it. They quoted me like over 2500. I took my car to another place and they said the transmission had no problems at all it was just my bearings. The noise is gone. I would never take any of my cars here again. I cant believe there are places like this. I had to tell this to people because I dont want anybody else getting screwed watch out.
I recently went in to Bartels to see about having the hole in a flat tire plugged. After determining they couldnt plug the tire safely, they went above and beyond to get an exact replacement tire AND work with Tire Rack to make sure the tire replacement would be covered by my Road Hazard Warranty. This was just another example of their awesome and personal service and I look forward to continuing to visit Bartels for my automotive maintenance and repairs.
I have been searching for a place like Bartel’s Auto Clinic to take my car’s for years. Adam’s team is professional, they show and explain the work they recommend for your car. They have three locations, Carol Stream, Oswego and Plainfield. I highly recommend Bartel’s Auto Clinic. It is hard to find a trust worthy auto shop. Bartel’s Auto Clinic is the auto shop for you.
Paid the company to do an evaluation on my vehicle and they only told me about 50% of the issues. They supposed to have replaced my brakes but driving it for 15 miles, i had break fluid leaking and brakes went totally out. It was like every time i got something replaced, the work was sloppy or wasnt installed correctly. STAY AWAY from this place
Very honest with their pricing and tried to work with my budget and method of payment. Worked with 2 or 3 different employees, they all gave me that good feeling of working with a locally owned business!
I came in for a last minute emergency and they were able to work within my budget and fix things in a timely manner. I was very appreciative seeing as how I was the one coming in at the last minute. The customer service is excellent and they even fixed something slight that they found as a courtesy. I would absolutely recommend.
I made a review a few months ago saying they had great service at a reasonable price. I was so wrong.I brought my truck in for a reasonably priced oil change and tire rotation service, but I also had a window that wouldnt work. After an hour they called me, saying the problem was the window control switch. The guy on the phone said unfortunately it would mean they would have to replace all the switches for the other windows as they didnt come individually. Then came the price. They said it would take somewhere around 60 or 70 dollars for the part, and a 170 dollars for labor. Im not a car guy, but am definitely learning a lot more as much as I can cause I love self reliance; I wish I knew what I knew them. I gulped down the bill and went on my way.3 months later my window goes out again. Pissed off, I research online the window switchboard.Every site had an OEM switchboard for 15 dollars or less.I ordered the part and just got it in today.It took 30 seconds to install it, which involves getting a screwdriver under a panel and popping it off, disconnecting two plugs and plugging them into the new switchboard.My window now works.I was scammed out of 250+ dollars by these guys. Insane. Criminal.Never use these guys. Let em drown.
Their kindness should not fool you. I feel duped. Too many questionable happenings to list in the 5 times they’ve had my car. Get a second quote and opinion. Latest was $2700 to rebuild a transmission that worked just fine when I dropped it off... completely shot when I got it back. Called around 5 places with 8 miles of them and the highest quote was $1400.
I brought one of my cars in and had the front end done for some pretty extensive work (300k miles)It was one of my company service cars and we needed it fast .They came thru and finished it that dayBad newsIn Milwaukee two days later it broke downI called Adam and he had it towed to a Napa repair shop in Milwaukee .They towed and repaired the car at this shop under warrantyI had no idea this was how things were done!We are Back on the road and I give you guys 5 stars for service under tough circumstancesWell done!
Always a great place to go to for reasonable labor rates for an alternative to obnoxious luxury dealership rates. I have a Land Rover and I bring it to Bartels for almost anything and they are always honest and fair about what needs to be done, I only bring my vehicle to the Land Rover dealer if there is computer specific things that need to be hooked up using the dealer exclusive tools (and I get charged obscene amounts which is why I avoid the dealer whenever possible). The other nice thing is that the GMs and owners are usually present and very knowledgeable which gives me good peace of mind. I would recommend Bartels for sure.

Made appointment for oil change and also checkup on fluids and general. Cheaper than Jiffy Lube, and can diagnose and repair. Didnt overcharge or say unnecessary repairs. Off beaten track, but so far, so good!
Went to Bartels auto in carol stream on Saturday February 23rd the service was amazing and everyone was so friendly and helpful . Joe was the guy who helped me out to fix my vehicle . I had a bit of vibration at expressway speed and moved the right front wheel to the rear which fixed the vibration. Didnt realize till later that that the tires on front and rear were different. Asked the guys at Bartels to swap the tires, but leave the wheels where they were. Got back in the car and the vibration was back.The guys worked with me until the problem was fixed. They checked both right side wheels/tires for balance. Then, since the car was on the lift, checked the left front wheel/tire, which they found was out of balance. Vibration gone, feels like a new car! Excellent work, gentlemen!

Fair pricing but the most important part is no pressure to do anything except explain the safety issues involved and proceed with the authorized service. That is refreshing when dealing with car service issues.

I brought my car in on a oil change coupon. They told me I had nearly $400 worth of brake repair telling me that I only had 10% of my front breaks left. I thanked them and left. I brought my car into another guy on a family recommendation to have my bearings checked, I asked the other guy to quote me on the brakes while he was looking at the wheels. My new guy told me that I had 50% left on the brakes and didnt need any immediate work. Bartels is UNTRUSTWORTHY!! Needs to be put out of business if thats how they are going to run things.
This place was TERRIBLE! I went in for my heating cord and they completely ruined my stereo and speakers. There’s a now a beeping sound that won’t stop coming from my speaker. The mechanics told me they would call me and NEVER called me. Communication was absolutely horrendous. I had to show up at the shop to make them work on my car. Will absolutely never EVER go back.
Going to Bartels to have any work done on your car is a very professional experience. They are a pleasant group to work with, and they know what they are doing. We are very satisfied with all work that we have had done there.
Ive always liked Bartells because of their $20 oil change specials with the inspection they do. I just brought my car there for an oil change & they inspected my car and told me I needed to replace a bunch of things when it was very unnecessary. I ended up getting only whatbwas needed done at a different shop for nearly a third of the cost.In the end, theyre prices are very high. Stick with oil changes here.
Very friendly service from Adam. I was constantly updated on the status of my car. In addition, I was offered a ride home in case I didn’t want to wait for the repairs to be done.
DO NOT GO HERE. Paid $1,500 for engine repairs. Problems were fixed for a day then the same sound came back literally 24 hours later. I called to ask for them to fix and haven’t heard back since. Be wary of Bartel auto. Never will go here again.
Bartels did a very good job on my oil change. They found a tire out of balance also. Nice to know they are checking other things out. Will use them in the future.
The folks at Bartels are who give mechanics a bad name. These guys are scoundrels, vying for every penny they can get from you. Be careful if you bring your car or truck in, and smell for the crap; they will take advantage of regular people who may not know the ins and outs of automotive repair. I would never recommend this place or go here again with any of my automobiles. If you value honesty, find yourself a different mechanic to trust.
Good place of business as far as ambiance / ride home and pickup. Original reason to I came in was to get oil changed and check engine light. Was told I needed new radiator (~$350 so I okd that without seeing the leak in the old radiator. Also told I needed new catalytic converter and O2 sensor (~$1000) after paying $50 to analyze. I am glad I held back on that since it was not necessary as per the Illinois vehicle testing agency as the vehicle passed emissions test with NO diagnostic trouble codes. Now I cant help wondering if I really needed a new radiator... There was little or no info on the check sheet like brake pad remaining or type of oil and filter.

In town for a softball tourney when my water pump goes out called at 330 when they close at 5 and they took excellent care of my car and got me back on the road in no time. Without them I would be stranded until at least monday. Thanks again

I have had many bad experiences with Bartels... My lock cylinder broke and it cost $900 to replace when the part is only around $160. 3 weeks after they did the repair the same thing happened again, luckily it was covered under the warranty. The next day that I got my car back the starter went out, Im wondering if this is really just a coincidence. The VERY NEXT DAY I picked up my car and was driving it home and the air conditioning wasnt working. I disassembled my dash and looked and a cable had been unplugged. These are definitely dishonest people looking to get as much money out of you that they can. Do not take your car here because they will most likely do more damage to it costing you even more money. STAY AWAY from this business.

It was quick, they were super friendly, but the ONLY complaint I have is that I’m a mama with a baby & there was no place for me to change a diaper there. I wish the one bathroom there had a diaper station. Other that that this place is great!

A local mom told me to go see Bartels. Boy did they not disappoint! First off, Ive never met a shop employee who is as welcoming and friendly as Trevor! Dont want to pack your kids in your significant others car as they follow you and then drive you pack home as you wait for clinic services or wait in the waiting room? No problem!! Bartels drove me home and offered to pick me back up when my car was done! Hands down the best service Ive ever gotten! Go see Bartels for all of your auto services.
Went in for an oil change and they told me I needed my spark plugs and wires to be replaced. Quoted me with a price of 458 dollars on a 11 year old vehicle. Anyway I got it done for 180 somewhere else. This place will rob you blind.

2022-06-21I normally take my car to the dealership for service, but I had an emergency on my way to work one day and Bartels came to my rescue! They fit me in on a day that was fully booked. My car was ready ahead of schedule and the customer service was outstanding. Jeremy kept me updated every step of the way with pictures and video texts showing me exactly what was wrong. I am so grateful for their service and they have definitely earned my repeat business moving forward!

2022-03-10My grandfather used only Bartels for as long as I can remember so I expected a flawless experience when I scheduled an appointment for a wheel alignment.I attempted to confirm the validity of a $25 loyalty coupon over the phone but got different answers each time I called.They took care of a few people after my car was finished without ringing me out, but that is understandable with a busy day.The employee had me quickly sign an explanation of the repairs, with me only realizing afterwords that he decided to charge me ~$10 in shop supplies to reduce my coupon amount from the originally quoted price.It seems like the work was done well but when I see small charges are handled this way I am hesitant to bring my car here for larger repairs.

2022-05-27My truck was experiencing some power steering issues. I took it to the dealer, who diagnosed it as a front end issue. The parts required were on back order and, I was told, may not be available for over a year. This sounded strange, so I took my truck to Bartels in Carol Stream. I was called back two hours after dropping it off and was told it was a steering shaft and they could get the part over night. They completed the repairs for a third of the cost I was quoted by the dealer (who obviously misdiagnosed the problem). The steering is fine now. The service was great and the repairs were completed in a nominal amount of time. Nice job Bartels.

2022-02-01You did a great job as far as I can tell. Being so friendly and knowledgeable would definitely keep me coming back. And as a Lyft driver with over 6,000 rides on a Buick 😒 my repairs have been aplenty.But I am going to be honest. Your prices are absurd, in my opinion. Of the four other places that gave me quotes, you were head and shoulders above the rest but unfortunately for me, I had already dropped off my car. I am forever looking for that shop that I will always come back to and recommend to others over and over again to help out others as well.But when people become aware that you take hundreds more dollars of their hard earned money than you really should, people like me will not be back. $900 in just labor on a water pump?? I may be a female and know nothing about cars, but I sure know when someone is taking way more than they give.A word of advice...Stop overcharging people and you will go further and feel good about it. ✌

2022-07-05Everyone at Bartles is always super kind and caring. I went in to get my check engine light looked at to get my car fixed for emissions. Super knowledgeable and professional people too. Overall a great experience and wonderful staff and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a repair shop. And they offer a shuttle service as well which is super convenient!

2022-07-06AAA recommended Bartel’s when my car broke down. I was a new customer. They were incredibly friendly and professional and went way out of their way to fix my car and get it back to me, even though they were very busy at the time. 2022-04-07I went in after 4 pm last Friday asking if they can check out my brakes. My back brakes were in bad shape. Instead of sending me off, the mechanic stayed late on a Friday night to take care of my car. Lauren and David - Thank you so much for your kindness and your quick work!

2022-05-11Bartel’s has done a lot of repair work on my sons’ cars (2004 Lexus LX470 and 2015 Mini Cooper). I’ve been extremely pleased with the upfront discussions on what is needed and why. The workmanship is top quality and we haven’t had any issues with the completed work. Very competitive from a cost perspective.
