Very surprised by all the negative feedback. I get it. You never want to be here. Our son had a fever of 102.8 and our regular Dr advised we should take him in to the pediatric unit here. It was a very pleasant experience. Everyone that we worked with was very friendly and compassionate. We were assigned a room quickly and a very nice nurse brought my son a toy to keep him occupied. Follow ups and testing were prompt and my son is doing much better. Thank you!

My mom was recently seen there for the first time. She was always treated at the University of Iowa until we moved here. First experience turned out to be the worst. Coming from a hospital such as the University of Iowas and seeing how a certain nurse here treated my mom- such a disappointment. Lack of professionalism. And unfortunately, we had to see this nurse (Tech) again for an EKG. I finally had to tell her to stop talking because she was making my mom agitated with how rude she was being. I was proud of me for standing up since she said she had never been treated like that and by that she meant me telling her that she needed to be more professional and absolutely not rude to any of her patients especially if they are old and dont understand the English language. At the end I told her I observed behavior for a living and her demeanor completely changed. She is such a disgrace to the amazing medical staff that work so much to meet and provide the very best care for patients.PS- If I could give this a zero star I would.

Unless you are having a heart attack, it is worth driving the extra time it takes to get to Northwest Community or Good Shepherd.Care has gone down considerably since they switched from Saint Alexis to AMITA. The staff seem to hate their jobs now, which reflects on their treatment of their patients. I have been told twice now that I would be “refusing care” if I did not consent to unnecessary testing before receiving basic nausea medication. Even after I consented, I had to receive the medication before I was able to take the test because I kept throwing up in the MRI room and they were unable to do the test until I was able to stop. I made it clear that I was not paying for this unnecessary testing as the reason I was there was because I moved and was unable to get to my old doctor for a refill on my zofran - which was literally all that I needed. Unfortunately, the ridiculously long wait time and arguing back and forth about taking a test that I didn’t need required me to need more medication - because of the trauma they could blatantly see and continued to put my body through. They watched me puke in the waiting room for hours while showing no compassion and not offering the easily prescribed oral zofran to call my stomach while waiting for a doctor to verify that was all I needed.Basically, because of their mistreatment, I ended up needing more medications to calm my stomach. The threatening to kick me out if I did not agree to unnecessary testing, cost me almost $700 after insurance.I won’t even go into the time that I had a minor procedure done here and wound up with SEPSIS. They had to put me into a quarantined room for several days…In conclusion, just stay away if you value your health. These people only value $$$$ and want to scam you out of it.

Everyone is saying it got worse with Amita and I think its actually gotten better. Over a decade ago my wife was here twice and I once, and in all three cases we were misdiagnosed. I quit going. Wed head over to Elk Grove instead. Then, last fall, she had an emergency and the ambulance took her to St Alexius because its the closest. I went in dreading what I expected to happen and was shocked at how different the experience was. She got top quality care. She was admitted for observation overnight and all of the staff was very friendly, answered all of our questions, and treated us very well. She recently went in again for an infection on a wound, and ended up spending 10 days there and having 4 different procedures. Complicating this, she has early-onset Alzheimers and cant always understand or follow instructions. Every time the staff interacted with her they did so with the utmost patience and care. She needs assistance eating, which a lot of places will not do properly, but the couple of times I came in while she was being fed, they were being very gentle and going at her own pace. All in all the staff was exceptionally friendly, caring, and answered our questions cheerfully. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I dont want to disparage the other reviewers, as there may well be problems we never saw or encountered. Our experience was just a complete world of difference.

There are a bunch of great nurses here and they do an excellent job!! But understandably, the hospital is short staffed right now especially the ICU. Since they are not allowing any visitors right now they only way to know what is going on with a loved one is to call the hospital and ask. Either nobody answers the phone at reception or if your lucky and they do nobody answers in the ICU. I shouldnt have to call 20+ times a day to be able to speak to someone, that is ridiculous especially because I cant even visit to see how my husband is doing. Before my husband was admitted to the hospital for Covid, the nurse and doctor in the emergency room kept telling me, well more like mocking me repeatedly its only a matter of time until you get Covid, ha ha - Im sure you already have it ha ha not sure what was so funny, but still dont have Covid by the way and my husband is still there. Instead of mocking people who arent even patients maybe they should put all that energy into taking care of their patients!!

There Wednesday morning for an Outpatient Cardiac procedure. Welcoming and Registration staff were polite and helpful. Medical staff listened to my pre-procedure inquiries and concerns and responded accordingly with no further issues on my part. Staff doing procedure and post procedure were very professional and concerned for my comfort. Thanks to everyone involved.

I am writing this review on my experience with the labor and delivery unit at St. Alexis in Hoffman Estates.I arrived for my scheduled induction on June 23rd at 2pm. My induction was scheduled through my OBGYN on that Monday before. When I arrived the shock on the intake woman’s face was undeniable. She looked over at another nurse and proceeded to say “No one called her”. As I was puzzled I said, excuse me? The response was that they could not take me anymore. That someone was supposed to call me earlier in the day to let me know that they didn’t have a bed/nurse to take care of me. I never knew which was the truth because first it was a bed and then it was staff. Later came to find out from my OBGYN’s office that someone from the unit was supposed to call me. They didn’t want my doctor to give me the information. My doctor was informed at 7:30am that that wouldn’t be able to take me but I was never informed until my 2pm arrival. They then proceeded to blame it on me telling me I was didn’t follow their protocol and call 1 hour before coming. I never received these instructions from them or my OBGYN that I was suppose to call prior to coming in. Never once did any of these woman apologize for their dropping the ball! I delivered two other babies at this hospital.I have 2 other children that I needed to have childcare for and the day of the induction was my deceased mother’s birthday. St. Alexis ruined that for me! Luckily good Sheppard was able to take me. Had I’d been induced at 2pm I would of had my baby before midnight since I didn’t arrive at good Sheppard to start my induction until 3:30pm. My baby was born at 1:14am on Friday June 24th.Here is the kicker! I was called on Friday while I was in labor at Good Sheppard for these so called instructions for my new induction date of Friday at 7:30am (which I never received the day before for my original scheduled induction). I didn’t answer because I was in labor. At 6:30am I was called on Friday to be told again by message that they couldn’t take me again for my “2nd scheduled induction”.What a lack of care for the individual. The hospital should be ashamed for the way they treated me. Making me feel as if it was my fault. Never once was there an apology out of either of the women’s mouth. St. Alexis might be the closest hospital to me but from now on I will travel just a bit farther to get the care that I deserve.

I strongly advise you to NOT come here no matter what the reason! Worst hospital I’ve ever know! I’ve had only unethical, miserable, and demeaning experiences at this hospital. The final straw was when my dad broke his tibia bone recently and was mistreated terribly. Terrible communication between staff and patients. If you ask for a pillow, expect it to be thrown on your broken leg. If you ask for your bed to be adjusted, expect to wait thirty minutes. If you receive your meal while in excruciating pain and can’t reach it, expect to wait thirty minutes to eat your food. If you take medicine, expect to not be given your medicine. If you are receiving an incision, expect to not be numbed. No empathy. No patience. This hospital staff is heartless and this place should be SHUT DOWN.

Was OK considering the ER has 70s drapes & 80s wallpaper. Treated well & fast in the beginning. I evidently shrunk 2 since my last hospital visit. I felt better & out fairly fast I guess for an ER visit. They did call to follow up which showed some future concern for my health.

We went to E.R. Yesterday , 5/11/22, at about 6:30p.m. My daughter is positive for covid and has a temp. Of 102.2, coughing, very weak from vomiting for 2 days. We waited for 2 hours hoping we get medical attention. We did not even know that she was seen by an N.P. because , the N.P. did not introduce herself at all. She just asked my daughter if she has other medical conditions. Is that how a hospital should examine their pt? We were not able to asked questions nor explain her situation because we did not even know who she is nor did she perform a physical assessment. The nurse who took her vitals was not wearing gloves. I told her that my daughter is positive for covid and she just told me;” I know”. She then without washing her hands touch another pt. The nurses never wore gloves nor wash their hands when handling one pt. To the next. This is a very inefficient and incompetent service. So we left without getting our daughter help. We will never come back to the E.R. Of this hospital. Public health should investigate this E.R. And close it down until they follow infection control.
