This place is not great to stay at. Theirs no elevator, so you have to haul your luggage up the stairs. When we got to our room. The first thing we did was look around the hotel room. We saw how nasty the rugs was. Me and my family did not want to put our feet on the floor. And has two iron stain on the floor . Like somebody left the iron on the floor and it burn through the rugs. One of the door is missing from the closet. The beds we sitting on wood logs(Like you can see the wood under the bed. Instead of actually bed setting. Ceiling looking like it peeling off the walls. The hotel look really old fashion. To me it don’t see like it’s really update. One room had a refrigerator but not a microwave and the other room a had a microwave but not a refrigerator ever room. We paid $170.00 for two nights. I don’t know about anybody else. But I did not like this hotel.
Its ok. The guy was willing to give me a discount. The rooms were good. Not great but good enough for me to lay my head down. Didnt see any rats or bugs. Id definitely use them again.
Room smelled musty, but for the most part, not too bad, front desk was polite, and room was run down, but Ive had worse for sure. My only issue is the cockroaches..By cockroaches I mean people. It appears like some of Chicagos ghetto trash wash staying all over the hotel. It fealt like I walked into menace to society 2...a black guy tried to holler at my wife, and my wife and kids wouldnt leave the room cuz they were uncomfortable...so I had to keep getting everything and running into all the trashy people
Staff was nice they had continental breakfast but we were running late. Its a good place for when your in a pinch, room was clean and big good size beds. No elevator so we had to haul our huge suit up and down the stairs.
The hotels hallway ceiling tiles were soaked, and smelled like wet dog by the vending machines. I had 2 rooms, the price we were quoted was $35.00 less than what they charged us. The bathrooms had black mold on the ceiling and toilets, the bathmat was literally floating when the water was turned on. Their website showed they had a pool and offered HBO-No Pool, No HBO! Bathroom exhaust fans were broke, lights burned out in shower area, also toilets didnt flush right.The only halfway nice thing to say is that they have queen sized beds if you can overlook the stains on the mattresses. I know this because I checked for bedbugs, which I didnt find, thank goodness.I definitely wont be going back, nor would I recommend it.
The reviews here dont do this place justice! I was cautious, cuz of the reviews, but there was no reason to be. The front desk was empty and we did have to wait a few minutes for the woman to come check us in. The carpet in the hallways were a lil dingey, but everything was well lit, shower pressure was fantastic, beds were WAY comfy, tv had alot of channels even tho it was rather small, and breakfast was pretty good too. The only complaints would be that the housekeeping came before 9:30a, before we took showers, so we didnt get fresh towels til the second day, and THERE IS NO SHUTTLE THAT GOES ANYWHERE!!! The info page Google has says theres a shuttle to both Six Flags and Great Lakes Naval Station, its a lie. Theres no shuttle any time, I thought maybe not during the week, which is when we went, but on weekends? The lady at the front desk said there is no shuttle.
If I could give NO stars I would! HORRIBLE experience! I travel often and have NEVER been harassed by other visitor except here. All towels and wash clothes were stained and disgusting. The bed was held together by 2x4’s And half the lights in the room had NO bulbs in them... very trashy and hardly anything for breakfast.
There was a plastic bag covering the fire alarm in my room. Lots of patched spots on the wall that werent re-painted. Breakfast was terrible - didnt even have non-sugary kids cereal. Bed was actually decently comfortable though, for this type of motel.
As far as cheap hotels go this is one of them.The room wasnt very clean the staff wasnt very attentive the doors did not lock very well and it was in a state of semi disrepair.The side exit didnt even lock.The clean towels were filthy. This house werent just dirty they were filthy as in you would not use these towels to wipe your dog off let alone your body.After the first night I had seen that they had made the beds and replace the towels with even filthier towels however they did not reveal the coffee packs and they did not clean the area very well there was a washcloth on the nightstand when I checked in and few days later it was still there when I checked out I have no idea where it came from.
Where do I start with this one. We came here to watch our daughter graduate from the Navy. And the hotel was recommended by the Navy. We had ants in our room the beds are hard as a rock you do not get daily maid service and you will not receive clean sheets. The manager told me it was my fault that the ants were in my room because I had a sealed box of donuts in a plastic bag sitting on the countertop and he blamed me! I had already sprayed for ants in here the day we got in. The manager had me spray for the antsmyself. The bathtub looks like someone was murdered in it. And their breakfast that they serve was a joke. it was watered down Orange juice burnt coffee sour milk and crunched up cereal that was all broken. Do not stay here and less you’re onDo not stay here unless absolutely necessary. We were forced to stay here because there were no other rooms available in the area for her daughters graduation. It made for a very rough time for us.
This place is RUN DOWN!!! My towels were hard n stained (one had green n brown poop marks on it) , I had to go buy my own. I also had to place a towel down on the bath floor just to shower. The mat was disguising & debris from other ppl was coming out from underneath it as I showered. There was ants in the tub, sink and on the dresser attacking my drink. The same pot of coffee burned in the lounge all day n night. The front desk doesnt communicate with each other n acted unprofessional. The annoying cleaning lady knocked on our door at 9am, 10am n 11am!!! First of all, Why would we want our room cleaned while were in it n before we even check out? Secondly we only got a couple hours of sleep because we flew in to see a family member graduate from Navy Boot camp at the Great Lakes Naval Base in town. Then the office called my room, which I hung up on them. Then they came knocking Again. My Eyes burned so bad that I couldnt even open them!! I answered the door n asked Why do they keep bugging us, we dont want the room cleaned, we just Need Sleep!!! Ugh anyways after that we packed up, checked out n went to Candlewood Suites.
This place is so awful, would not recommend. My friend found an ant in his breakfast and it smelled like cigarette smoke throughout the whole place. The pillows they provide are paper thin and there are not a lot of amenities. It was extremely unclean and this establishment is not acceptable for lodging, even if it means staying one night.
Please do not stay at the Americas Best Value Inn in Waukegan, Illinois. It was in the Navy brochure and only three miles or so from the Navy Recruit Base so we choose it.We paid around $85 a night plus tax. Rooms were smelly, dirty and there was hair on the bathroom floors and toilets. There wasnt any soap in the bathrooms and the toilet paper was down to a few sheets. We checked in then went to find dinner. When we came back I discovered that our street level windows were closed but unlocked. There werent any screens. I know better and should have checked but, didnt think about it when we arrived. Fortunately, we didnt have to add a theft to our experience.You could hear the guests in the other rooms. We braved it for two nights and on the second night between 3:00 and 5:00 we could hear clearly wild monkey dancing in the room next to ours and tried to block out the sexual exploits of the people in the next room with pillows over our head.Most lights did not function and most electrical outlets were broken.Our stress level was heighten by missing our son, travel and the lack of sleep. I have traveled extensively throughout Latin America and have stayed in many tourist class hotels of third world countries with standards above and beyond this hotel. This hotel was a disgrace. Beware.
I am an esthetician student. My boyfriend and I got a room yesterday because we missed our train back home . I woke up with bites all over me to my understanding these are bed bug bites. I have about 8 on my legs and 2 on my face. I cried for at least three hours. We were in room 230. I tried to get information on who to report it to but the receptionist was very rude. I told him I have several bites on me and that they have bed bugs . I explained to him this was unacceptable and want my money back. He walked to the back and just said he’ll have someone check it out. This really sucks because being an esthetician someone is constantly working on your naked body.
Ive stay in a lot of hotels, and Im cheap so theyre usually not the best. This one though was the worst. The place smells awful, the front desk staff was rude as can be, and Im pretty sure nothing has been update since the 70s, except for the TV. People constantly screaming in the halls. People working on vehicle in the parking lot.
Poor customer service. 2 of the rooms I booked leaked water from the ceiling. The ceiling plaster & paint are chipping off in the room & discolored areas. In both rooms closet doors were broken. So when you opened it the doors fell off onto who ever tried to open it. The bathroom doors do not close properly. Dangerous place, I will warn everyone to stay away from that place.
Worst experience by far! The room I originally booked when we arrived 1 of the beds were broken and the bathroom was a disaster 2nd room after I complained about the 1st room the door was broken you didnt even need to put your key in the door to get it open so went back downstairs to complain 3rd room was better but there was hair in the shower and the bathroom was not very clean and the chain on the door wasnt there! Went down to get ice there was a door leading to outside hotel rooms that was wide open for anyone to come in freely no cameras or security down that way. Came back to the hotel used a side door that had a keypad but there was no need for the key because it wasnt locked! Called front desk for a inconvenience discount and they told us we could only get refunded the full amount and leave there were no discounts available! Truly the this is the most disgusted I have ever been with a cheap hotel!
The staff was friendly. The place was clean but is kinda old. We couldn’t adjust the temperature on our heater. I think it wasn’t as bad considering the price. I was pleased that their restrooms are clean as well.
I booked a room with 1 king size bed one month in advance. I got there, front desk told me yes we have your here but we only have a room w a queen size available for you, we gave your room away & a sorry. That dint resolve my situation. My husband & I slept uncomfortably. We won’t be returning & defentely don’t recommend!!!
Absolutely horrid! Made reservations went and checked out the room it smelled like a moldy basement and cigarettes. I told him Im not interested he said he was going to charge me I told him the problems .I even showed him outside of the windows theres moss and mold growing underneath them right were the AC sux the air from so if you dont want to get sick i would definitely go down the street .he still said he was going to charge me I told him I wanted to speak to manager or owner and of coarse he was outta the country .he never got ahd of me after I called . We ended at super 8 and had a great time .
Only received stars because of lovely evening desk gentlemen.1. Dirty and clogged shower2. Severe ant infestation, pulled back blanket and saw 7 on sheets.3. Soda machines completely sold out during my time, were not filledDingy bed linens, towels, mildew stained shower liner4. Unpainted spackle patch up areas all over the room.5. Any question answered I dont know6. Element was horrid. Woman was drunk and high asking me for a ride after a couple gentlemen threw her out of their room. Gentlemen asked me if I had loved ones at home, ie scared me to death ie human trafficking.8. Not in walking distance to anything!9. Shuttle was curbside in pouring rain couldnt pull out of a parking space to come in front. Complained about time yet another guest came after me.10. Wifi stunk.Dont stay here. Pay a couple bucks extra and stay closer to the base. I highly discourage this place.
Well they had the room we reserved. Dunno if it been cleaned in a while? Not even a vending machine. Place appears to be transitioning from one chain to the next. Sinus infection for myself and spouse after we left. Yuck!
It definitely has a less shady feel than the motel 6. Its roomy and feels safe, and I did spot a bug in the bathroom in the 2 nights we stayed there over all it was okay however it was odd they had a an old fat tv, the service was very nice and helpful.
Im very glad I had a place to stay, but the continental breakfast was lackluster. The room smelled of smoke, and it is a non smoking room. The smoke detector in the room was covered with a towel and the bedspread had a cigarette hole right through it.
Staying here now. They charged us 80 dollars for a room that smells,a tv with no color and the other tv with no sound. The tub is DISGUSTING! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE THIS IS MY FIRST AND LST STAY.
Worst place ever! This be the last time I go there. I went last night with my husband after a long road trip! We both walked in the lobby he walk to the bathroom while I was getting our room. After that we walked out to get some stuff from our car and walked back in 20 min pass by and the room phone starts ringing. I answer and all I got was a guy in the other end saying Hi how are you and well I answered nicely hi good and you?? He said good and he asked me if I was busy and I said yes why and he said if I can make him some room for him and Im like no Im with my husband and I asked him who are you looking for and his like room 225 and said my name! And Im like who is this and he said we spoke down stairs and I passed him my husband and he hung up. All that happen we grabed our things and what to the lobby. My husband was so pissed off that I have never seen him like this. He told him off that I got a call from down there and he said that no one could of called cause other rooms cant call other rooms only the lobby and Im like look your the only one I talked to thru out the time I was here I gave you may name I didnt run into no one in the halls our in the parking areas your the only one and I told him I want my money back and his like I dont so refunds and Im like what your name your managers name cause you the only one here and Im like let me see your phone or press redial and he denied me to see the phone. I told him fine Ill be back in the morning to see your manager owner or land owner cause you clearly saw me and my husband walk in. All he did was laugh and switched our room! His name is Nav so if you see him dont even bother walking in for a room!
Dirty rooms including bedding, comforter had white stuff on it. Had to ask for towels and was given a bath mat fora towel. Shower curtain covered in mildew.
Boxes in front entrance, front desk friendly but slow to respond to bell; linens had stains; bathroom and shower nice; towels and paper products very thin and rough; soap provided not enough for one shower; carpet not vacuumed; very quiet stay.
Room was clean. New laminate floors and paint. A little tired, but great price and quiet. I’ll be back when I come to visit my son at school.
This is not a hotel for a family with kids, I rented this room cause it was close to Six Flags Great America and I did not want to spend a lot of money for one night. The breakfast is cereal, muffins, waffles, and bread for toast. The drinks are o.j. apple juice and water. If you got kids do not rent here.
Needed a cheap place to stay for one night. Beds were comfortable, shower was hot, room was clean, and there was variety of TV channels. No complaints!

The room phone cord was cut so phone was only for display. Its ok because I didnt need to call front desk. The time for shuttle drop off and pick up was disorganized. Breakfast menu was below average compare to other Americas Best Value Inn & Suites
If I could give a zero to this establishment I would. I went to have breakfast with a friend and when I asked the desk clerk to pleaseRing his room he looked at me with the eyes of pure discuss after quite a pauseanf. Looks all over me he did not speak a wcrd to me yet called my friend. Yes u could tell he was digusted with.me for some reason. I will never go. BAck there. And I dont treat onntbnOf me coming
Stayed here for two nights. Great hotel, nice staff. Only reason its not 5 stars is cause the breakfast options were not that great. Overall great experience tho.
I come here twice a month the front dest service is good its a family enviorment the rooms are nice and near by restauraunts are usually open late.
As soon as you walk in smells like mold, rooms dusty, breakfast not good cold coffee, cereal and the waffles were ok, old carpet . Need to remodel.
Rooms are clean and the wifi isnt bad. Odd that there isnt an elevator for the second floor. Makes getting larger bags to your room a little harder.
Hotels clean the have an indoor pool and a hot tub in the main atrium but front desk people need to get some personality.

They give you more towels than most hotels and theyll help you with what type of room youll feel comfortable with.

This place is HORRIBLE , me & my friends went here for her birthday & the room was already dirty when we came in there was stuff sticking to the top of the ceiling there was spots all over the floor the ceiling light was busted in the bathroom & they wouldn’t give us a refund it was just horrible we ain’t even stay the whole night we ended up leaving before the night was over never again.

This hotel met my expectations, it was clean, tidy. It didnt smell like cigarettes and the house keeping and front desk staff were very friendly. I can not comment on the breakfast since every day I was out before the service, but at least it was included which is very good when you are in an unknown place, the parking lot is steps from the entrance door which helps a lot When its cold. Recommended..
Good location because it has the service to bring to the graduation, but the hotel a dirty headache the dirty filthy the filthy bathroom, you can not supposedly smoke but the rooms. But the rooms stink of cigarettes .. the sheets are broken.the duvet , with more than a month without washing, a nightmare to sleep in both dust and bad smell of the sheets and the folder ... I would never stay in that place .. I understand that it is very economical but they should give it better cleaning, because people use it to go to the graduations..so they should have a little more cleaning ... breakfast a crap a three day coffee and the juices last dated..horrible I do not recommend it

2022-02-13I wish there was any option less than 1 star because these guys don’t even deserve any. I was sent up here for a month’s school and while I was doing my bookings on DTS, the Navy Lodge and NGIS didn’t show up with the implication that they might be booked already at the time. This hotel popped up as the first recommendation on DTS including other hotel out in town. I chose it since it seemed to appear the closest to base. Upon arrival I was sent to a dirty room with food left overs in the drawer next to the bed. No refrigerator in the room and dirt everywhere. I requested for another room and it wasn’t any better( dust everywhere). They charged me for 8 days, and I checked out after the 6days and these people didn’t give me back my full refund. There was no complementary breakfast like they claim. The towels weren’t properly cleaned. Housekeeping just barge into my room without knocking at all since they have their own key. The craziest part was that they put bed sheets on the floor to clean water leaking from the ceiling which is a health risk. I was sick emotionally, psychologically and physically the whole time I spent in that hotel. I finally got me a reservation at the Navy lodge and moved out.DON’T EVER BOOK THIS PLACE !!!!!

2022-06-03The place is fine but the maid constantly bangs her vacuum on my door so thats super annoying!! She can vacuum without hitting the doors cant she?! I hope their vacuum cleaner doesnt break because of it!!

2019-03-14You get what you pay for, I guess. Dont be distracted by the cheap price. Allergies immediately flare up within the first hour for my wife and myself (I dont have frequent allergies) unsanitary bed frames, sheets, floors and walls. Structure issues with closet doors and front door to room. Fire department walked in room for whatever reason with no effort due to door frame unsecured. After complaining about conditions, we were offered another room which we accepted. This one being worse than the last. Wall sockets exposed, missing sheets and pillows and what appeared to be adult fluids sprayed across the floor and still visible as well as a large stain that hopefully was liquid food. We were told we had to wait until after 2pm to check in for cleaning purposes or be charged an early fee of $40. Didnt know they charged extra to clean our room before we checked in. Glad we waited. After ending up paying for a full night stay for being there about 1 1/2 hours we book else where that was a little more but well worth the extra cost. Customer service was pleasant and had no issue with the staff as they tried to rectify the issue but with bad conditions and unknown room conditions he was at a disadvantage from the start.

2019-06-23The rooms are very dirty, the bedding is rarely changed. I worked here and was trained that if the sheets dont look dirty just leave them on. I couldnt do that. Every room I cleaned I changed everything. Ended up losing my job because of it. Also they change there prices from one person to the next. Also they allow smoking in all there rooms, Marijuana as well. The whole place and hallways wreaked of it.

2017-05-03We came for our son-in-laws Navy boot camp graduation. Richard checked us in and he was very nice. We needed extra blankets and pillow and he did not hesitate to get them for us. We spoke to several front desk employees while we were there and they were just as nice and helpful. They all had very good attitudes and joked with us. After reading the reviews I was a little worried about this motel. But I was very pleased with our stay. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Trust me when I say I am a very picky guest and pay attention to detail. I work in a motel in Canaan Valley,WV and I would not stay in a motel that I felt was not safe and not clean. The staff treated my family and me just as I treat my guests!!!!

2019-08-23Worse place to stay! Towels had stains, the curtains had huge rips in them. I must have counted at least rips. The room was so dusty we could write our names in the dust. We could not get fresh towels until they picked them up, washed and dried them. In the meantime you were left without any towels and not able to get more. We had to ask for a roll of toilet paper daily. There were homes in the walls, several of them.

2016-03-07We attempted to stay at this hotel based on the nearby hotels for Navy graduation. This is one of the worst hotels Ive ever attempted to stay in. Lobby is dirty and outdated. While the hotel staff were very pleasant the rooms were disgusting! The air conditioning unit looked as if someone ripped it apart and vomited into it. There was a hole in the carpet, the toilet was barely attached and the linens had hair within the made bed. We prompted checked out and lost our money for the first day. Dont stay here! The nearby town is a dump as well. We moved over to the Marriott Residence Inn and Suites. I should have known you cant get a good room under $150/night!
