Let me start by saying.. everyone (the staff) was very nice and welcoming, the environment felt chic BUT it’s not a place to get your toddler a haircut! I wish they had said we don’t do haircuts for kids age so and so (I have them my kid’s ages as I made the appt) I would not recommend this place for children under 5. I’m also not happy with my 4yo old’s haircut, he did good, followed instructions and was patient and yet I came home to see it was not even. It was pricey and not a satisfying haircut for kids.
First time visiting and it was super chill easy going, not uppty up. Didnt try to sell me anything and the stylist was informative on hair coloring.
My first visit to Amber Waves was great. I was referred here after my previous (beloved) stylist moved out of state, and I was a little apprehensive about going to a new salon after so many years. Happily, Britt gave me a stellar haircut and she, along with other staff, were so friendly and welcoming. I feel lucky I found this place! Thanks yall!
This was my first time to this salon, having recently moved to Naperville. I was referred to Amanda, who had started with the salon not too long ago. She listened to my color concerns, discussed with me the photos I had brought and how the color would look, and was professional throughout the experience. Although pricey (as in comparable to Chicago’s Lincoln Park prices), I would highly recommended this salon. You get what you pay for!
If your a male DO NOT GO HERE. I’m not one to be too picky about my hair, but I went and spent $100 on ski hats after my haircut because I am too embarrassed to even go out in public. Asked for 1-2 inches off my hair, my hair that has been long, and the same style for 14 years and they gave me a full fade that looks awful. Thank god my regular hair dresser was able to fix this mess. It was a learning class and I understand everyone makes faults but please be weary if you consider this as your haircut location.
I donated 8 of my hair (theyre associated with Children With Hair Loss) and the stylist was very nice and accommodating. Cutting the hair, washing, and fixing the ends took about an hour and fifteen minutes. Cheaper than my normal salon. 👍
I love this salon! I have been a weekly regular at Amber Waves for the past 3 years. From the receptionists to the stylists…..they are always professional, super friendly, geniune and excellent at what they do! I have a very busy lifestyle and its common for me to call last minute to get in to get a quick shampoo and blow dry/style and Amber Waves always delivers. No matter whose chair I am in, I always walk out with a great look! I really appreciate how I can honestly communicate with the stylists there and they listen and actually do what you want (No attitudes here!)! I love how they have transformed my hair color from brassy to a vibrant, shiny and healthy blond. My 4 daughters also love the salon and their updos are fantastic! Keep up the great work!
Ive been going to Amber Waves for over 15 years now... and I always get a great cut, highlight, and style!!! The staff is professional, friendly, energetic, and experts within hair design. I also love their Bumble and Bumble hair products. Definitely recommend everyone to try!!
I was blown away by the service and attention to detail at this salon. The staff is always kind and courteous and presents you with a warm beverage the moment you come through the door. I ended up getting my hair colored and felt like they added much more volume to my hair. I truly believe this is the best salon in Naperville and I will definitely be back!
Ive been a client of Amber Waves for several years and so has my daughter. My daughter has had her hair styled at this fabulous salon for every high school dance for the past four years. Amber Waves is special to her because it is here that she had 12 of her hair cut for Locks of Love to honor her friend who had passed from Leukemia. The receptionists, Magee, Arielle and Delaney are so welcoming and accommodating. Its like going to Cheers-where everybody knows your name! Shannon, the owner, is a huge contributor to the Naperville community. Becky, my stylist, my psychiatrist, my friend is the BEST!
I have long curly hair with layers. Lets face it its not easy to find people who know how to cut curly hair. I dont have that typical triangle style hair so I needed a salon and stylist that I could trust. I moved to Naperville fairly recently so I wanted to find the best salon in town. My neighbor Donna suggested Amber Waves Art of Hair Salon as she had been a patron there for years. Gina cut my hair and added a lot more volume to my existing haircut and reduced the dreaded poof that my style can sometime develop. If you have challenging hair I would not trust any other salon to do the same quality of work.
It was my first time at Amber Waves Art of Hair Salon but not my first time getting my hair done by Kelly. I followed Kelly from another salon and when she decided to change salons I was a bit apprehensive. As soon as I walked through the doors at Amber Waves, that feeling went away and I immediently felt at home. The warm atmosphere mixed with friendly faces shows that the staff truely love what they are doing. Kelly is truely an amazing colorist who is constantly learning new trends as I can literally sit in her chair and say, do whatever you think will look good. I constantly get compliments after I go to Kelly to get my hair done and HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for a great cut and color to go to Amber Waves and ask for Kelly.
Im seriously SHOCKED that this place would have this many stars.For starters, the staff is very snobby and carry an Im better than you attitude the moment you walk through the door.I had visited a stylist in Joliet and asked for a dark/ light brown bayalage. The stylist not only did what she thought was an ombre but it was not at all closed to what I wanted and what I had shown her in a picture. I contacted my regular stylist to see if he could fix it, but he was booked till next month.I visited Yelp looking for other salons near me that had good reviews and found Amber Waves Art of Hair Salon. I contacted them and explained my situation and scheduled me for the next day with Marybeth. I went the next day and met with Marybeth, who btw had just started at that salon 2 weeks prior...and again showed her the picture of what I was looking to achieve with my hair. She understood and did what she thought was the same. She curled my hair and took before and after pictures that to me looked way better than before, still not quite what I wanted nor close to the color, but better.When I went to pay, the girl at the front desk said it was $330... mind you I did not get a hair cut, nor any products and I had just paid the 1st stylist $90, so I was LIVID, I walked out and when I went home later that night and washed my hair and let it hair dry. I saw that the color was orangish and that it looked way worse when straightened. I called and complained the next day to Shannon (the owner) and she said that I would meet with Tanya on Wednesday for a consultation, during the consultation with Tanya, very nice chick, she scheduled me for that Saturday at 2:45pm and said that I had been over charged by $80-90 and that she would be talking to Shannon to discuss a refund.Saturday came around and I knew I was going to be late so I called at 2:30pm as I was on my way and let them know that I would be about 15 mins late. Danielle, the receptionist at the time, said she would need to check with Tanya to see if that was fine, she came back and said it was alright. I got there at exactly 3:00pm and as Im leaving my car, they call and tell me that they have to reschedule and can no longer take me in. I told them Im outside and I had called and asked and they had said it was fine. She said they couldnt take me and that Id have to reschedule. I was FURIOUS! Now its my 3rd trip there, $330 later, and my hair still messed up. I emailed the owner yesterday and got a call this morning, stating that I would need to reschedule if i wanted it fixed, but that they do not do refunds, I explained Tanya said they do do refunds and that she had to talk to her staff about disclosing incorrect information. Shannon was no help at all and had no sympathy for what I had just gone through at her salon. I finally gave up, I will not go get my hair done with these people EVER again and definitely would NOT recommend it to anyone. If the $330 is really going to make you THAT HAPPY then keep it!I wish there was a way to not give them any stars but unfortunately there isnt. Also, I reached out to the first stylist I went to in Joliet and explained this whole situation and she was nice enough to refund me the whole $90 I spent with her, for being unhappy with my hair. At least theres still stylists out there who sympathize with their clients and want to make them happy.
I worked with Gabriela and got a great haircut. I asked for my usual simple face framing haircut and I got what I asked for. She did great. Owner is nice and cares about customers

Shannon and her crew make getting my haircut my favorite day of the month. They make you feel great and look great, you couldnt pay me to go anywhere else.

This place is awesome. The staff is great and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Despite its petite size, they have maximized the use of the space. Definitely a hidden location, but worthy of a visit.

2021-11-10First off…thank you ALEXIS! for making my hair the exact light color I had always wanted it to be. Past salons that I had gone to did not get me to the color blonde that I had asked for. I’m extremely satisfied. The whole staff here is super kind, energetic and super helpful. This salon is clean and beautifully arranged.

2019-11-12Amazing! Ask for Jacki.She completely exceeded my expectations! I was just hoping to make life easier by chopping some super long dead ends - and have been shocked to find out that I actually LOVE my hair now because of the cut she gave me!When I walked in, I showed Jacki a photo I thought I liked, and she listened and then gave me some additional recommendations she had which included adding layers, and razor blading with a special technique she knew. I trusted her, and we went for it...Its been a week now, and I LOVE DOING MY HAIR! Its exactly what I didnt know I wanted that she helped me realize - the cut is cute and fun, but still manageable and easy-to-style (mom-life, ladies). I think its rare and great to find an experienced stylist whose opinion and hands you can completely trust, and so I had to write about it.I am grateful to Jacki for her super expert hands, but also her honest approach, efficient use of time, and fun conversation. Book her! You wont regret it!

2021-11-10If you have curly hair you need to have Sasha take care of it. From the minute I sat down I trusted her with my hair. The hair stylist I had been going to for 10+ years moved out of state so I needed to find someone who understands how to work with my curls. Sasha nailed it! Before she did anything we had a long discussion about my hair, what I like, what I needed, and how she would cut it. The whole experience was very enjoyable. I definitely found my new hair stylist!

2021-11-11I just moved to the area and was looking for a quality haircut. Gabby did an amazing job! I cut off almost a foot of hair. She checked in with me throughout the haircut to make sure I liked it and checked with me on the length several times. She styled it beautifully and I love it so much! Ive washed it and styled it myself the next day and its great - even and perfect! I will definitely be going back to Gabby!
