Brats are good, chops and steaks are good - chicken breast, not so much. They lacked flavor and were tough. Ill get chicken elsewhere.

Got a brisket to smoke over the weekend. Was disappointed in the quality of the meet. By the time I trimmed it, there wasn’t much meet left.
This shop never disappoints. We recently had a special occasion and bought the bone in ribeyes. They were so tender and had amazing marbling. The staff is super helpful and are happy the advise you on what cut to buy etc. love this place!
I came in to buy 10lb bags of ground chuck. Mike was great at helping me. He picked some great ribeyes for me. He also gave advice on the bacon Im gonna try. The guys were helpful and in a great mood. It was pleasant experience.I absolutely love their steakhouse potato salad! I love their great selections of meat, frozen items and lunch meat and deli selections. They also have great meat bundles.
Love alwans products only problem I had was I spent 90.00 dollars on prime rib grabbed one of there cooking recipes didn’t know if I should sear it so I called to ask, an office worker answered the phone she said anyone who may know is helping other customers and why can’t I just refer to the internet. I spend a lot of money at alwans because they have awesome meats but was taken back by a response that would have taken one second to answer. I assume the office staff just didn’t want to move from there seat. Everything is always great till it’s not in business
I absolutely love Alwans customer service. I bought a meat bundle today and they asked how I wanted it all broke down and packaged. After I checked out they even put it in my car for me. When I come in with my special needs son they are so nice to him and patient with us. Love this store!!! Oh and they also take LINK/SNAP which most small businesses dont and you are helping to support a local family owned store! Also try to get there between 11 and 1 when the grill is open outside...yummy!!
The moment I walked in people acknowledged me by saying hello. Then they continued to assist me in whatever I was looking for. The prices where the same as Id see at any old grocery store so really it was not horrible. I will definitely be coming here again. I just wish their cooked food was available before 11am.
Unbelievable meat selection and friendly service. However, what’s up with the total lack of organized service? No numbers to select. No structured lines. It’s a free for all. This place would be perfect if their meat selection/pick-up process was organized.
Great experience bought a meat bundle over the phone picked it up about two hours later they were busy but in and out everything was ready to go very fast and friendly service I will def be back good job guys
Alwans has a friendly and knowledgeable staff. If I opt for a cut of meat that I havent prepared before, Ill often ask their advice on how to go about it and someone behind the meat counter is always willing to give suggestions. Even when theyre super busy, they do their best to give prompt service. I love that they often carry local/regional produce, salsas, and spirits.

We were staying nearby and I went to Alwan and Sons just because it was close. We were very impressed. We ordered a couple of basic deli sandwiches and were blown away by the noticeably excellent quality. *Everything* in the sandwiches, from the meat to the bread to the pickles, veggies, and sauce was great, all for a very reasonable price. I would go out of my way to eat from here again.

Alwin and Sons always has the best meats in Peoria. Now for 2021, they are processing deer. They are flexible and guarantee a great finished product. I cant wait to try the deer sticks and sausage
My brother got 2 smoked turkeys and 3 hams, will find out tomorrow how good they are! Was an experience watching the amount of traffic that moved though there while I waited in the truck.Owner told Owen they had 3800 orders!
It would be amazing if the staff practiced safety guidelines during an ongoing pandemic. Only the cashiers and 1 gentleman behind the counter do so. Today, there was an employee sniffling and coughing incessantly behind the counter, helping customers. We will not be spending our $ there anymore, despite being 5min from our home. We will gladly spend extra gas to drive to Rabers.
You guys will lose business due to charging $170 for basic deer processing. There are plenty of other places local that charge way less. Also , 12 weeks for smoked goods are outlandish!

Great quality, excellent variety, and the place is so clean, I think you really could eat off the floor. I got everything I wanted...that I could afford - this place isn’t cheap. But meat of this quality never is. (The prices were lower than Chicago, I will say.). We bought goat for stewed goat and jollof rice, 5# of suet (most of which I rendered down into tallow and will use for frying), and the thickest, biggest Iowa pork chops I’ve ever had. Delicious! I’m looking forward to my next trip to Peoria. I will be taking a cooler!

Alwans is the place to go for all your fresh meats needs. Even if you need to order a side of beef, they will walk you through all the ordering, the pricing was good, and the steak quality and taste was amazing! We had no issue finding our Dearborn Hams there. Also, they always have 10# specials on ground beef that we take home, patty up and freeze in smaller packages.

Drove out of my way to come get lunch today. I heard your food was awesome at lunch so I thought Id try it . Stood in line finally was my turn $8 ribeye sandwich and a $4 lemonade pulled out my card and you told me I have to go inside we do not have time to go inside and stand in line then come back outside and show you that we have a receipt totally ridiculous this is lunch you should be equipped with some kind of card machine outside its called The cube if nothing else runs off your phone youre charging that kind of price you should have that kind of service. your limited on your time that you have you dont have time to play these games on going inside and out. Thank you for the waste of my time today
Our go to place for fresh meat. They seriously have the best cuts around and very reasonable pricing. Fantastic knowledgeable and friendly staff! Who could ask for more? :)
While my visit was initially on business unrelated to Butcher/Deli products/services, I concluded it with a sandwich, which was excellent. The staff were friendly, the facility was clean despite the amount of foot traffic they were experiencing, and the selection is out of this world.$5.00 For essentially any type of meat/cheese/bread/veggie combination is a hell of a deal. And though I havent taken advantage of their butcher shop yet: their selection was well presented, and their prices seemed very reasonable.Additionally, I didnt see a single communist anywhere on the property.10/10 - would buy a sandwich again.

Awesome place! More than just a meat shop, this place is like a small grocery store! Theyve got anything youd need for any type or size of cookout, all in one stop! Awesome prepackaged items from other local businesses as well as some national brands. Huge meat selection in the cases, as well as a nicely stocked deli case! BEST LUNCH IN TOWN!!! Their outdoor grill, serves from 11-2 M-Sat, is cheap, FAST, and tastes amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I greatly appreciate that they let me set up my girl scout troop there to sell cookies, and are extremely accomodating. I have been coming here with family since the 70s, other family members have been coming here and I encourage others to go there. It is clean, convenient, the one I speak with the most is Pat, you couldnt ask for anyone better. All the employees are respected, informative and helpful.
I never have been to Alwans before this time. I could not afford it, I thought. I went in after all the recalls on ground beef from cheaper big stores. I am so happy I did! Amazing butchers. They made me feel like a million bucks. The ground beef was so not expensive as I thought it would be. 10lbs for 20 bucks sale. I hope that sale stays around so I can stock up.

Sometimes when the store is sold out, I purchase the same products elsewhere, lamb or beef, and every time that happens, my gratitude for Seven Sons is renewed. The freshness and flavor is unmatched. This place has some of the best meat chicken cuts of pork in town. In addition to that you can sign up to have them send you hey text message when they have specials on Fridays which can be really good for those who are on a budget. I look forward to the times where I can stop and have something from there outdoor grill for lunch today I got two bratwurst and they were fantastic with tons of onions and ketchup and mustard.

Wish the market was close by, such as Pekin or Morton as I dont get to Peoria that often. I have had butterfly pork chops and spicy Polish sausage at the their cookout that was fantastic. Also have had the country rope sausage many times. It is the best I have ever had. Keep up the great work and tradition!!!

Local butcher stores are always better to get your cuts of meat than any chain grocery. Theyve got a nice selection of sauces and seasonings in the aisles too. Guys behind the counter are helpful if you arent sure what cut to get for a certain dish, seen many people getting bbq recipes from the guys there, and all the helpful tips to go with em.
One of the best, if not the best, butcher in our area. Anything I get here is fresh and high quality. You also can eat at the deli, tuna is very good or try their products at the outside grill. Wide variety of meats to choose from.
This is the best Meat place on the city. Not to mention there grill open everyday from 11 to 1 is sonething i look forward to all winter. It is beyond delicious and way afortable. Excellent meat market, an update on the old-time butcher shop.The spiral sliced cured hams are delicious.Very friendly staff and helpful. There is a deli where you can get a fresh sandwich in the back corner. There is also an array of condiments and other types of food items available. They also have bagged ice.The BBQ for lunches is awesome, with their own homemade brats , and they also have a special mixture of the left over meats from the day before that they simmer in bbq - mmm - very good! There are a few picnic tables to sit and eat, and it is covered from the sun and or rain.Since they are on War Memorial, it is always busy with traffic, and the noise from the street is considerable, but that aside it is a very cool place to go for a sandwich during their lunch hours.The butcher shop has pinwheels and hotel steaks - give them a try for dinner!
They had what I was looking for, Prime Rib roast, both with & without bones. Fingers crossed! Ive never cooked a whole prime rib, so, heres hoping! ;-)
The people that work there are awesome. Not only do they help, but they seem very happy to help. That is hard to find in this town. The product is top notch as well.
Best place around to buy meat and other items. People in the Midwest need to get familiar with TriTip cut of beef. Cook it to about 135 on grill after marinating in your fave rub overnight. Slice meat against the grain after it rest for about 15 min. You wont be sorry. Better than prime rib. Alwan is the only place in Knox County that has this cut of beef. Like i said there the best meat market around. Excellent service, well staffed, and a wide variety of all different foods.
I haven’t been able to make it to Peoria for steak glaze brand that is only sold here. I spoke with Michelle via phone and they had it in the mail same day. Great place. Wish they had a place in Bloomington.
Had my Deer processed for the first time at Alwans. The staff was awesome especially the one gentleman who assisted me when I dropped my deer off and picked up my meat. The Summer Sausage and Sticks were terrific. I would recommend all hunters take your deer to Alwans. You will be glad you did. One side note; I observed skinning and and first step of the deer processing . They washed the carcase and kept it clean. I was impressed. Great job Alwans Staff.
It was good havent been there in about 5 years and pretty much everything is how I last seen it and same customer service definitely recommend for your meat !!!
My friend went there and had a great experience so I decided to try it. I cant believe it took me this long to discover this jewel of a shop, despite the fact I have driven past it for years on my way to ICC. I bought a lb. of pulled pork, 3 butterfly pork chops, some Uncle Joes meat rub, a pack of Kings Hawaiian butter rolls, and a lb. of seafood salad. Prices were very reasonable and the staff were really friendly and helpful. So far I have only eaten the seafood salad, and it is super DELISH! Eager to try my other items, and rest assured Alwans: I will be back! :)
I was just there..I walked in and walked out...Only one employee had a face mask on and no one had gloves on...The place was packed...No social distancing there or hand sanitizer! I did ask one girl who was working the grill why no one had masks on? She said according to the CDC guidlines they dont have to...HMMMMM...What about the IDPH? I also thought the place looked filthy..I will never go back and think they should be shut down immediately!

The smell as we approached this place was amazing. We bought a #9 bundle of meat. we had some bacon upon getting home. Amazing flavor !! I highly recommend Alwan to anyone !!

What a hidden gem. Wonderful meat selection, good prices, and fantastic service. A must stop for purchasing speciality and quality meats. Also love the small market inside as well. Just enough selection to make a full meal out of one stop.
They have all the cuts the chains never have, and theyre willing to trim them to your need. I also like that they have a few rubs, spices, and marinades that are difficult to find elsewhere, and they have just enough beverages, snacks, and sides that you can one-stop shop for putting together an entire meal, whether in the kitchen or on the grill.
Everyone was so friendly and kind. We came over from Canton in order to purchase quality meat since we no longer have our meat market after Cattle Drive closed last fall. Thank you Alwan Brothers.

I have made some purchases at Alwans over the last several years, and I can certainly vouch for their friendliness and helpfulness. I just now called about getting brisket at Alwans, and their price beats Costco by about $2.50 a pound. Another place, that is only a little bit cheaper than Alwans, has proved to be unreliable with regard to quality, and their attitude toward customers doesnt begin to come close to Alwans customer friendliness. How do you suppose a little shop like Alwans has been able to keep doing a brisk business competing with all the big grocery stores? By keeping their prices competitive,(which means great management and resourcefulness), by dependable quality, and by genuine customer friendliness. To get back to the brisket, the place I have been getting them from makes you order one in advance, and the one they have when you come in is the one you get. I got a bad cut one year, and only had the time it takes to cook a brisket before company was going to arrive. When I called Alwans today, a very nice sounding young lady told me they always have briskets, and that theyre center cut.
Excellent meat shop, one of the few places which offers all types of meat including halal/kosher chicken but has to be ordered a week in advance and they only sell it in 40lbs boxes!! Yes 40 lbs!!

This business was updated some time back and went from a decent place to an awsome destination place to make sure you stop by. You can even grab lunch off the grill in the summer. They have no shortage of meat selections and if you dont see what you looking for just ask as they probably have it in the back or will cut it for you.
Ive been to Eureka locker, Pottstown Deli and Alwans. Alwans is #1. Their prices seem to be a bit higher but for the quality and service I have received it has been money well spent. The staff has always been very friendly and the quality of the meat and service is beyond that of the others. If anyone has the idea to try one of the other 2 places Ive been avoid Eureka locker at all costs. Pottstown is ok if you need to spend a little less and I will probably go there again at some point as they are closer to home but Alwans will get 95% of my business from this point forward.
I came in today to get minute steaks. Which are wonderful. I stopped and got an pork chop sandwich. Pork chop was good but the bun tasted odd. I had to take it home and put it on another bun.
I have always been treated very well at Alwan. I only go there for my beef bundles. Its always top notch and delish!! Worth every penny!!
I walked in 6 minutes before closing and ordered a cut of meat they had never done before, and they took the time to get it right. I can only give five stars, but always get 10 star service.

The only place in Peoria to go for meat. We are lucky to have a meat market like this available to us. They should write a book on customer service. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you want.
My wife and I celebrated our 39th Anniversary with a very romantic and special dinner at home. Alwans contribution was a magnificent top sirloin steak.We had heard Alwan & Sons commercials over the years, but this was the first time we purchased from them. The meat was tender and flavorful, and was equal to or better than steaks we have enjoyed at some of the top steak houses in the country (Ruths Chris, Gibsons, etc.).We will not be going back to the supermarket for our beef anymore.

So disappointed in our turkey purchase this year. We have gotten out fresh turkey from Alwans for years. Today, as i was preparing our fresh bird I dug out 3 good sized chunks of ice. So....for a turkey I paid 50+ dollars for I could have gotten for $40 less at Schnucks. I bought my turkey from Alwans because i wanted a bird that had never been frozen, not one that you thawed for me.Dont trust Alwans claims. How many did you rip off this year? Wont be overcharged for a turkey by Alwans again. I will purchase mine from someone honest
Dont go anywhere in Peoria for meat. The absolute best meat and deli in the city. The best! Hot guys working in there only makes the experience even better.

2022-04-16What a cool store! So many neat things to choose from and the meat choices are off the charts! Cant wait to try the hearty looking steak and chicken kabobs grilled this evening! We bought Brats too, but I dont eat Bratwurst. Taste reviews will be updated later.UPDATE: The food was absolutely amazing! So glad we tried out the kabobs! Will definitely be buying these again!

2022-05-27In town visiting family and wanted to find a place for quality meat to enjoy a nice cookout for the holiday weekend. This is the place to shop for quality food in Peoria. Very clean, organized, excellent presentation, prices are solid and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Im so glad we found Alwan & Sons and will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

2022-05-14I must say I love be this place. It feels like Im walking in and buying from family. The grill outside is like your own backyard and the people are so friendly. You see the people behind the counter engaging people not just sitting back and waiting until they are called upon. Well done Alwan and Son meat company. Its like having a butcher in the family. Anyone that has read my reviews knows Im tough when service isnt up to par but love places that treat you like they are happy to serve you.....BRAVO!!!!!

2022-03-27We hired Alwans to cater our wedding. Every step of the way Pat was helpful and easy to work with. He assured us that there would be plenty of food and he was correct. The food was delivered and set up quickly, stayed warm, and it was delicious. Our guests said that it was some of the best wedding food. We served pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, mac and cheese, green beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.

2022-05-31This place is just the best! We have been buying our meat here since we moved to Peoria close to 30 years ago. This is the best quality meat I have seen anywhere, and they do not skimp on the portions. Their ribeyes are easily a meal for two people, yet are competively priced with the much smaller, thinner ones you see in chain grocery stores. I just bought a flank steak and had to put it in a 13 x 9 baking dish to marinate it! The service is top notch - they get to know you, and take the time to visit and catch up - its like being with family. And, if you have them cater anything, prepare to become hopelessly addicted to everything they make.

2022-07-06Went there this morning looking for smoked jowled bacon. Didnt find it in the usual place that they stocked it so I walked up to the butcher section to ask if they had any. The first man said no but the young man that stood out was very nice and asked me if I wanted him to look in the back to see if there was some.I told him no not to waist his time because the other employee said they were out but the young man went away and low and behold he found a whole case!Id like to thank that young man for his 100% customer service he didnt see my skin color he saw me as a customer. He made me have a little faith just like the young cashier shes very friendly and always has a smile.I do my best to avoid the older woman I can feel her hate for people of color.

2022-05-11I go once a month to Alwan & Sons to get something most Illinoisans have never heard of. When I lived in Pennsylvania for 24 years I fell in Flavor Love for Sweet Lebanon Balogna. My son lives in Lebanon, Pennsylvania where it is made. It does cost $9.99 a lb....BUT, I love the flavor so much... Im willing to pay the extra to keep having it Shipped here. I get myself a pound every Month. Alwan & Sons is the only place in the area that I have found that carrys it. If youre into trying New Foods...go get you 1/4 lb. Of Sweet or Regular Lebanon Balogna from Alwan & Sons ( my preference is Sweet)
